A lot of people were mad at 2016.  Thought it was a year without morality.  Without decency.  Without justice…  So I’m watching the Thunder/Hornets last night, and in the 3rd quarter, Dell Curry is like, “I just had some terrible news cross my desk – Justise Winslow is going to be out for the year.”  Whoa, way to be a news breaker, Dell!  He also broke the news that his wife was in the crowd and circled her on the teleprompter when the camera showed her, so there’s that…  Awk-ward!  Anyway, Winslow’s injured shoulder ended up being a labrum tear, after it was reported it was only a tweak and he didn’t anticipate it being a long-term issue.  Doctor G, how come major tears only feel like tweaks sometimes?!  He’s going to have corrective surgery today and will likely miss the rest of the season, ya know, unless the Heat make the playoffs!  Hahahahaha, sorry Slim, had to do it…  This is definitely a bummer, because we saw this with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and he ended up tearing it a second time after only a few games back, so I’m going to be very leery about ranking Winslow decently next year.  Well, the injury, and the fact he’s going to end the year shooting 35.4% from the field.  Yeesh.  So with Miami lacking any Justise, it would appear James Johnson is going to get all the minutes he can handle, and is must own for me ROS.  Really everywhere.  I raved about him as the lead to the notes earlier in the week, Adam led with him for RazzWired, and he shouldn’t have any issue getting 30ish MPG the rest of the way.  I was initially surprised to only see 25 minutes last night in a 5-point win, but yeah, he fouled out (game was on too late for grandpa JB!).  14/6/6/0/3 for JJ on an awesomely efficient night, shooting 4-8 FG, knocking down 2 treys, and hitting 4-4 FT.  Only black eye was the 3 TO, which look like will be an issue for him as he takes on a big role on the offense.  So be sure Johnson is owned in all your leagues, and hopefully by the 17-18 season, we’ll see a return of Justise in the world!  Here’s what else went down last night in fantasy basketball action:

Dwight Howard Went 3-3 FT last night, making him 5-7 at the stripe so far this year with only 3 TO his last 4 games.  Where’s the justice in that?!  With the FT volume cut down and rebounds up, he’s been a lot better than even the Hawks would’ve hoped for.

Kent Bazemore Amongst the annoying mix of Hawks wings, 17/0/4/2/0 with no TO in an awesomely efficient line, hitting 6-9 FG (3-3 3PTM 2-2 FT).  Gets rewarded with only 27 minutes…  That said, it was a blowout win, so not too surprising…  Kyle Korver got an odd 7 dimes in 17 bench minutes, and Tim Hardaway Jr. made a couple treys.  Bleh, like some chicken wings with too spicy of a sauce, these Hawks wings are too messy for me.

Evan Fournier The Virgin is back!  Returned from a heel injury to go 14/1/1/1/0 in 30 minutes off the bench with a couple of treys.  Not his best game and the Magic got trounced, but not the worst either.  Deploy your virgin as usual.

Elfrid Payton After working out the kinks and looking great off the bench, moves back into the starting line-up…  Hmmmmm…  I kinda wanted him to keep cruising in the bench role!  Elfrid was still solid though, going 15/4/6/3/1 with a trey and 2-2 FT in 35 minutes.  Hopefully the yanking in-and-out of the starting 5 doesn’t cause chafing.

Aaron Gordon Only 25 minutes, but is staying useful!  His latest run did coincide with Fournier being out, but with The Virgin back, 15/10/2/0/0 on 6-11 shooting with 2 treys.  He’s certainly 12er ownable for me – at current returns it’s kinda back-end usable, but there’s still oodles of upside while you get the  back-end contribution.

Russell Westbrook What superstars do!  Even when they look terrible, have ridiculous games.  33/15/8/2/1 for Westbrook, but he was atrocious, shooting 10-31 FG including 2-12 from deep.  With the game close, took a pullup 3 with a few minutes left.  I screamed at the TV a little…  Drive mutherF#($er, drive!  I feel like that’s a lyric or something, I’m not just going turrets and yelling at him with no reference…

Steven Adams Yeah mea culpa on him.  Another monster run of 36 minutes, 18/12/3/1/1 on 8-10 FG and 2-2 FT.  I always thought he was a good NBA player!  I just didn’t see him becoming a fantasy contributor with enough consistency like this.  I guess when Russell Westbrook is going to have historic usage and look for him on every single pick-and-roll or drive, he’s going to rack up enough layups and nice FG%…

Nicolas Batum His 28/3/4/0/1 line isn’t one of his best, but those 28 points are a little out of character and damn did he look great out there.  The 13-15 FT is a little misleading, he got barely touched around the waist on a couple of treys and he got 3 FTs at least twice.  The FG% was still iffy (7-18) and remains low on the year (40.4%), but he’s having a career season.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist It’s boring, but REB are a stat!  14/11/0/0/1 on 7-9 shooting.  Just keep those labrums from tearing!

Frank Kaminsky Monster game for Frank the Stank, who couldn’t miss in the 2nd quarter.  17/6/2/2/1 with 2 treys on 6-11 shooting.  Was banging threes, had a floater in there, just looked really good.  Unfortunately in a 12er context, there’s really not much to do with it other than have him in your streaming Rolodex, as the minutes are too sporadic.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Greek is Fleek!  Isn’t that something kids say?  27/13/4/1/3 with a trey and a game-winner.

Wait, is that seriously Lance Thomas on him at the end?!  I didn’t know Lance Thomas was still playing!  Lance got 38 minutes?!?!??!  What in the world?!  I know you have to fill out Kristaps Porzingis‘s minutes as he’s still out with a sore Achilles, but dayum, play someone else more!  Well, this Giannis blurb devolved into a rant, my b!

John Henson Only 14 minutes of 2/2/0/0/0 and picked up 3 fouls.  Yeesh.  Then Greg Monroe came off the bench and got 31 minutes and hit only 4-10 FT.  Got the Hensons!  Which is like the yips, only worse…  18/9/4/3/1 on 7-10 FG is otherwise a nice line for Moose.  I’m leaning more and more to the Bucks not trading him.

Malcolm Brogdon Another empty tripdub quest!  12/6/8/0/0 on 5-14 shooting with no treys.  You can do a lot if you get 38 minutes a night!  I still think Matthew Dellavedova gets his role back and they split it down the middle when Delly is healthy.

Carmelo Anthony Well, the knee must be a little better now!  37 minutes of 30/11/7/2/0 with 4 treys.  Looks kinda like a nice game to start the sell-high process…

Mindaugas Kuzminskas With no Goose and Lance friggin’ Thomas getting big minutes, they had to help fill in some F minutes somewhere, and Mind Games Mindaugas got 19 mins for 15/4/1/2/1 with 2 treys on 6-10 shooting.  Wait, I thought this was supposed to be a Willy Hernangomez sort of line! Kuzminskas is super ugly and doesn’t look like one of those “physically gifted” people out there, but he’s got a good 3PT stroke and is kinda quick.

There’s really not too much we can do with this though, he has 3 straight games of 15+ minutes, all of which The Goose has been out and he should be off his roost soon.

Michael Carter-Williams Ugh, I guess this is a thing!  If you need a PG, even with all the negatives, I think you gotta add MCW in 12ers.  13/3/3/1/1 on 6-13 shooting last night against the Cavs, and looked fairly decent in his 28 minutes sans-Rondo.

Doug McDermott 17 points and 3 treys.  ThrAGNOF!

Nikola Mirotic Still a frustration to own game-to-game, but 16/4/1/1/1 with no TO last night with 3 treys.  He’s actually been really good the last 10 after a couple DNPs – averaging 11.9/5.2/0.5/0.7/1.4 with 2.3 treys.

LeBron James Tried his best to carry the Cavs without Kyrie Irving (hammy) and Kevin Love (ate bad hammy) out, going 31/8/7/1/0, but after a blistering start last night in the 1st quarter, the Cavs got stagnant quick…

Jordan McRae – Other than Channing Frye hitting 3 treys, was the only other offense next to Bron, going 21/3/2/0/2 on 7-15 shooting with a trey and 6-7 FT.  Slim clowns me for mentioning my REL pickups in the Monday daily notes, but this was a pretty good call to mention!

C.J. McCollum Damn, save those legs for tonight!  I picked the Yiddish McColllleuoruouoeueourughhhhhm for 30 points tonight against the Lakers, but he went an unreal 35/9/5/0/2 with 4 treys last night as the Blazers hung in there without Damian Lillard against the Lakers.  Fiddlesticks!

Mason Plumlee Has these monster games sometimes!  16/10/4/3/1 on 6-12 shooting in 33 minutes with no TO.  Wow, 4-5 FT and actually making his freebies lately too.  23 for his last 32 good for 72%, which is fine for him.

Maurice Harkless D stats still aren’t drying up, maybe I was too heartless!  10/7/1/1/1 with 2 treys, I mean it’s fine, but he’s 9.9/5.3/0.9/1.5/1.1 with 0.8 treys and 1.6 TO the last 8 games.  It’s OK, but I feel like you can stream that in 12ers, maybe I’m crazy, I dunno…  Strike that, I know I’m crazy.  Call security, there’s a crazy guy out in the hall!

Stephen Curry There we go!  35/7/5/1/0 with 5 treys.  The 5 TO are annoying, but keep scoring Steph!

Kevin Durant Even with Steph going for 35, KD can be epic too!  30/5/4/2/3 with 3 treys and 9-9 FT in a fantastic rainbow line.  If you got him really at any spot in your first round, you’re doing the Slim Reaper dance.

Klay Thompson It was Klay who fell off amongst the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, going 5-15 FG for 14 points and only 1 trey.  That said, hit up the D stats for a 14/3/1/3/2 line.

Chandler Parsons DNP rest.  I’m losing my hair over this worse than Manu Ginobili.

Zach Randolph Hah, so JaMychal Green is out with a swollen eye, so we all expect Zbo to play a ton.  And he plays the fewest minutes of any Grizz bench player…  19 minutes for 13/3/0/0/0 with 2 TO.  Weird stuff from Plop Plop Fizz Fizdale!  After maintaining a nice record through injuries, I’m looking up and seeing them at only 22-16.  6-8 their last 14…

Austin Rivers “Daddy!  Daddy!  Let me play a ton, the old injured Grizzlies can’t keep up!  Daddy!  Pick me!  Pick me!”  28/4/7/1/1 with 2 treys in his best line on the season.  In a ridiculous 44 minutes.  Hey, I can slam the favoritism all I want, but the Clip have had worse injuries than the Grizz and won this game.  And have a better record!

Raymond Felton Here’s an interesting camera angle on Felton trailing a fast break from last night:

11/4/6/4/0 in a usable-enough line if you’re streaming while CP3 is hurt.

DeAndre Jordan Damn, just needed to hit 2 more of his missed FT for a Goromotaro!  18/20/0/0/2 with 4-11 FT…

Tyler Johnson 30 minutes of 23/6/2/1/2 on a fantastically efficient 7-11 FG (2-4 3PTM 7-9 FT).  With no Justise in this world, an extra little smidge of USG security coming his way as well.  Yummy.

Willie Reed Welllllll, didn’t quite follow up on his epic breakout line last night…  6/3/0/1/2 in 23 minutes.  But hey, you got 2 swats!

DeMarcus Cousins And I’m guessing Reed D-ed up on Boogie and kept him from playing well!  13/6/4/2/0 on 4-15 shooting for Boogie in a rough one.

Darren Collison Stupid Ty Lawson.  In a battle of morality issues at PG, Colly goes 27 minutes for 10/2/3/0/1 with a trey, and the masked Lawson goes 15/0/6/1/0 with a trey in 29 minutes, but with 4 TO.  Still would rather Colly, but annoying to see Lawson get the run again.

I hope everyone had a nice humpday of basketball!  Enjoy the rest of your week, and I’ll keep up with you through the weekend in the comments!

I have Carroll, MKG and thabo
They seem perfect for my punt pts team.
But is there a better option from my waiver:
Aminu, clee, dgreen, baze, ellington, reed, rivers, felton, kaminsky, len, saric, speights, tucker, belli, carter, crabbe, meeks, marcus morris, noel, nogueira, rodriguez, zbo, cunningham

    My team:
    G-Dragic,GHill,Bev,Reke,Beal

    C-KAT,Marc,Noah
    IL-Blake

      Slim says:
      (link)

@Tyler: Pretty much your standard 12er available players. I’ll take Bazemore over Thabo and… and… lots of solid streamers. Carroll can go and I’d say the top streamers there are Rivers/Felton (as long as Paul is down), Kaminsky (as long as Zeller is down), Crabbe (as long as Lillard is down), Sergio when healthy is probably #1 on this list, Marcus is ok just not alot of fun to own, Reed for blocks (as long as Whiteside is down but he’s traveling with the team so it shouldn’t be long). The rest, meh I don’t trust em.

      • Tyler says:
        (link)

@Slim: so drop thabo for baze then carroll for sergio or marcus? You dont like aminu or dgreen for my punt points?

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Slim: @Tyler: Yeah I like Sergio too for a punt points when healthy. Marcus I would pass on, usually his best asset is scoring. None of those other guys really excite me punting points, mayyyyybe Noguiera if we see a little uptick in mins

Drop mirotic, tyreke or gary harris for james johnson? Looking for better potential down the road ie fantasy playoffs.

    • Tyler says:
      (link)

@Tyler: also have lou williams who has been really slowing down as of late.

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@Tyler: Definitely not Gary Harris. Tyreke v Mirotic and yes I’d take James over both. Kind of tough, Mirotic’s current production vs Tyrekes upside. Blocks vs assists… vs Sweet Lou who has really tailed off. I may be on an island but I believe Lou’s current level of production more than the early season, esp with LA now looking more to develop the youts. Yeah I’ll lose Lou for James. I think the other 4 guys all have more upside and they are all currently outperforming Lou. I had to convince myself a little but yeah, it’s over for Lou.

      • Tyler says:
        (link)

@Slim: i also feel like lou is my drop. I just need to hear it from someone else and that its not a recency bias thing. Kinda hard to drop since hes been money for me since draft day but feel like hes the odd man out.

@Tyler: @Slim: @Tyler: Yeah me too, Harris #1, Johnson #2 by a good bit for me. Mannnnn yeah I think Lou is the drop for me too! D’Angelo playing well, they wanna run young guys…

  5. Eddie Rooskie says:
    (link)

    Hey guys, quick two part-er.

I have a solid punt points core but I just need to make a trade or two to round my strategy out.

Its a 12 Team / H2H / 9 CAT league and I have an offer on the table right now for my Myles Turner and Melo for Draymond and Favors. I know Favors has had a rough season so far but I think he begins to turn it up especially now that the Jazz are really pushing hard for a playoff run. Do I take this one?

Also trying to see if I can swing Tobias Harris for Ariza?

    Thanks

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Eddie Rooskie: Ohhhh man. If Favors didn’t have injury question marks I might, but I kinda think I would hold there. Eesh it’s a coin flip, I could go either way haha. I think a lot comes down to if you need the scoring or not. If you have good scorers, I’m OK taking it. And same with the Harris/Ariza deal

      • Eddie Rooskie says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: I know the potential is there but im with you on that injury concern 100%.. Since i’m trying to punt points, I still have some guys that keep me competitive in 3’s like CP3, Covington, Lowry, Carroll, Dragic, Crowder, Ross… The only guy really lighting it up beyond the arc is Lowry but having a combination of those guys actually keeps me very competitive.

I just looove Ariza but thank you!

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Eddie Rooskie: Interesting, yeah punting points I kinda like both deals actually!

  6. Rocky says:
    (link)

    Hey JB-

What are your thoughts on Derrick Favors as a buy-low candidate? He’s struggling minutes and production-wise right now and definitely carries a good bit of risk but, when healthy, he’s a top 40 player. Do you think he is worth targeting? And could some combination of say, Taj, Harkless, Clarkson, or Devin Booker get a deal done?

    My roster in a 12team/9cat
Harden, Kyrie, LaVine, Jrue, D. Booker, J. Clarkson, Blake Griffin, Gorgui, Taj, S. Adams, Capela, Harkless, Speights, Montrezl

    Thanks in advance!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Rocky: Well off a good game might not be the best timing hah. That said, yeah any 2 or 3 of those guys in a 12er where you can replace/stream would be worth it to me. Any time!

  7. Connor says:
    (link)

What’s up guys? Loving the pod and hopefully I can break my 30 pt challenge cold streak as well JB!
I’m in a 12 team 10 cat league with FT made.
    PG- Kemba, Schroder, RJax, Jrue
SG- Harden, Gary Slim, Rod Hood
    SF- Batum, JRich
PF/C- Drummond, Deandre Jordan, Jokic, Myles Turner
    IR- Simmons
Would you guys drop anyone to stream? I was considering dropping Hood or Harris to grab Mirotic because of the blocks/3s combo. Thanks for any advice!

@JB Gilpin: no just a bad joke. You wrote above that he is “super ugly” so I joked that it works for me bc super ugly is a category in one of my leagues. Anyway, dude got up the other night for a dunk on the side of the basket from a nice pass from Jennings. But then got beat at the last moment by Freeky Greaky who is just so fun to watch. Ah my poppycockers.

          SG: Luol Deng?
          SF: Kuzminzkas!
PF: Hmmmmm – can we put Joakim Noah there?
          C: Steven Adams!

Yeah I almost GIFfed that dunk, after a missed 3, then he cut to the hoop. Twas nice. Hey, your poppycockers have a winning record still I Think!

  9. Not Your Average Joe says:
    (link)

Yo JB/Slim! Feels like I’ve been lobbing softballs at you guys this year so this is a good time to throw y’all a hard slider. This guy is a must own, and that guy is a must own, but I can only own so many! So here we go. Long post, but what else do we have to do today? Work?

I most recently added Harrell and J-Rich. I worry about Harrell’s playing time when Capela returns, but we could just ride the Montrezl express and hope he sticks. J-Rich is contributing across the board nicely but that FG% the past three games is right back down to Covingtonesque levels, and he commits a lot of TOs for a guy who’s not playing PG (2-3 per game) or blowing up the stat sheet. Meanwhile…

James Johnson is available. But he’s still coming off the bench, racking up a surprisingly high number of TOs, not as many d-stats as one would hope, and barely holding his FT% together.

Mason Plumlee is available. Fewer d-stats still, but fewer TOs. More boards, but FT problems.

Aaron Gordon is available. Huge up/down side. He’s heating up but the lack of d-stats is blaaah.

Should I drop J-Rich (or Harrell? Probably not harrell) for any of these guys i mentioned? Mostly looking at Gordon I think. Gordon would cost a 9th round to keep.

12-team, 9-cat, h2h league. The players with an asterisk are keepers with an 11th round cost.
Team: Lowry, Conley, TyJo*, Beal, J-Rich*, Batum, Ersan*, Harrell*, Millsap, Zingis, Gobert

@Not Your Average Joe: Noooooooo, give me only the soft stuff!

Yeah I like riding Montrezl as well. 3 BLK were nice from James Johnson though! Yeeeeesh yeah a lot of interesting options avail. I think losing J Rich for J Johnson works for me. AST are good and you have some FG% concern. Man tough to leave Plum and Gordon out there though haha

          (link)

@Not Your Average Joe: @Joel: I could see Harrell still having a substantial role as Capela is back/eased in. The way he’s running the pick and roll with Harden is great. Sure PLum’s better games will be superior, but the lows and drains are too

  10. J says:

Hold on to Parsons? Or not worth the trouble at this point?

    • Not Your Average Joe says:
      (link)

      @J:

I had this same question. Unless you have a deep roster or are sitting pretty at the top of the mountain, I wouldn’t hold him. The fact that he’s still playing 15 minutes a night, and sitting often, led me to believe that he won’t be usable until February at the earliest, and that’s assuming no more setbacks.

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:

@J: @Not Your Average Joe: Ugh I’m still holding in my 12ers. In 10ers it’s just not worth the putrid contribution.

What up JB/Slim. Just started listening to the pod a few weeks ago – great stuff! I have a dynasty question.

30 team, 8-cat, h2h league. We have a $70M salary cap as well so that factors into decisions.

I got offered Tyler Johnson, Meyers Leonard, and Christian Wood for Mike Conley. All of their salaries combined are about $2M less than Conley. Would you do it? I’m tempted since Conely is a potential liability since he’s signed through 2021 in our league.

I also have Dipo, the Shelfrid and McCaw as my other guards. Thanks!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@ZBD: Thanks for listening, glad you like it!

Hell yeah, love the deep leagues! Hmmmm it’s interesting. Guessing the offerer is in win-now mode. I’m not a big Meyers guy and who knows with Wood. Who would be your drops? It’s pretty close, I wonder if he had a more interesting PF I personally like more than Meyers in the same range, maybe I would counter with that…

      • ZBD says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Yeah, he’s scrapping for a playoff spot now. Just barely on the outside looking in.

My situation is kind of strange too. I took over the team not too long ago and the team is actually pretty stacked. Could probably be 2nd or 3rd seed but the lineup hasn’t been set all year until now so I’m parked in last. Can’t decide if I should try and win out and fight for one of the last seeds or just trade aggressively to get as much future value as possible.

Anyways, yeah I like that. I’m not too high on Leonard either. He has RHJ and Felicio who are both way more intriguing to me.

        Thanks man!

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@ZBD: Damn that’s annoying! Hopefully you didn’t have to chip in any league dues or anything haha. I’m not the biggest RHJ guy but if he was in there over Wood or Leonard I might be tempted enough to do it. Any time!

        • Slim

          Slim says:
          (link)

@ZBD: I’d probably take just Tyler for Conley so maybe scrap Wood and Meyers and go for a single better throw in.

  12. David says:
    (link)

I’ve got Dion Waiters coming off my IL and Terrance Ross sitting on the waiver wire with Chandler Parsons getting DNPs and shooting horribly, just burning a hole in my roster. Should I drop him?????????

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@David: I’d still hold Parsons, but it’s getting reallllly bad. I personally am holding Parsons, but would not fault you at all for going Ross then streaming it. Waiters is prob just a cut

  13. Shahed says:
    (link)

    Hey JB,
I wanted your advice on a trade I just did, standard 9 cat, ROTO
Me receiving: Eric Bledsoe, Pau Gasol, DeMarcus Cousins, James Johnson and Rudy Gay
Me trading away: John Wall, Marc Gasol, Bradley Beal, Dwight Howard, LaMarcus Aldridge
    My current roster is:
G: Wall, Beal, Matthews, Lou Williams, Beverley
F: Aldridge, Wilson Chandler, Ilyasova, Harrell
    C: Marc Gasol, Howard, Henson
    IL: J Lin

    My points are: FG: 7, FT: 3, 3PTS: 11, PTS: 11, REB: 11, AST: 11, ST: 9, BLK: 8, TO:2

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Shahed: Damn, the monster trade still happened! Haha. Whoa yeah it’s basically trading away your rounds 2-7 for both reams haha. Let’s see:

Wall for Cousins – def Wall, and still bad TO, but can prob make it up
      M Gasol/Beal – Bledsoe/P Gasol – Def a win there
Aldridge – Gay – Close, probably want Aldridge though, but DNPs in March/April hurt. Then again Gay is literally hurt haha
Howard – J Johnson – Howard’s FT are so tough. I actually like that part especially given 11 in REB.

Yeah getting Bledsoe and ridding Howard I think is worth the downgrade of Wall to Cousins. Also with 11 in AST, you can afford to lose a point or two there and help in other areas. TO I don’t see changing too much, but I think you did aight!

  14. Johnc says:
    (link)

please rank these four squads in a 12 team, 9 cat, H2H league. Thanks!

    1. Lillard, Fournier, Ariza, Tyreke, Mathews, Lou, Thomas, Kilpat, Teague, Colly, Dieng, Lawson, Brogdon, Waiters. IR: Simmons (small ball specialist who won it last year with a series of 5-4 wins despite finishing 5th in regular season)

    2. Schroeder, Riddick, KD, Millsap, M Gasol, DWill, Mas Plum, Ibaka, Kanter, H Barnes, Danny Green, RoLo, J Rich, Meeks, IR: Delly

    3. CP3, RJax, Smart, Sergio, Porter, DeRo, Leonard, KAT, Adams, Jokic, Horford, Poison Goose,G Harris, Leuer

    4. SWaggy, TJW, R Anderson, C Zeller, Hield, Tobias, Harkless, Cousins, Wall, Ersan, MCW, Rondo, Love, D Rose

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Johnc: Whew that’s a tough one haha. Quick glance I’ll say:

#3 – Love the guards and bigs
#2 – Not loving it, but damn KD/Millsap/Gasol is fun. Needs PG
#4 – Don’t like the high TO from Wall/Cousins and bleh depth past that. Love it OK
#1 – Yeah that team doesn’t get my motor going haha

      • Johnc says:
        (link)

        @JB Gilpin:

Thanks. Team #2 in first but I am gaining! He traded DAngelo to a bottom feeder for Gasol which was sick. Go team 3…I need Sergio so hoping Simmons takes the year off LOL

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Johnc: Oh so you’re #3!? Yeah you’re my team! Can see how #2 is winning right now, huge start for those guys

  15. Clos says:
    (link)

Jb what’s going on? I haven’t stressed yet just keeping it cool and my team looks like it’s starting to come around thanks to you guys. For some reason even after the Winslow news a guy in my league dropped Tyler Johnson for Tony parker. Should I use a waiver on him and drop Brogdon for him? Just picked up james Johnson too and I have dragic already. What do you think? Was thinking about giving nurk a shot too

    Lowry
    Dragic
    Pbev
    Elfrid
    Brogdon
    Gary harris
    Kieff
    Parsons
    Harrell
    Dieng
    KAT
    Cody zeller
    James Johnson
    Blake griffin

Maybe drop parsons? Just crazy I waited all this time and to drop him now… What do you think?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Clos: What’s up man?! Oh 10000%, yeah def want TJ>Brogdon. Yeah I wouldn’t have lost TJ either, but damn Parker is playing great. Nurk was very bleh last night. I might get crucified by March but I’m still holding strong on Parsons

  16. Lasandro says:
    (link)

I am loving owning the heat legal team Johnson & Johnson & Richardson in my 10er 14 cat roto!!

    • miles proudfoot says:
      (link)

@Lasandro: JJ&R clearly deal in pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical related products.

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Lasandro: @miles proudfoot: JJ&R in Miami, are they at all involved with Anthony Bosch?

  17. miles proudfoot says:
    (link)

So moving on from Sam Cassell jokes (although I’m happy to come back to them later haha), would you drop any of the following four for the other four on the wire…
My team: Collison, Warren, Harrell, G Harris
Wire: illy, Richardson, JayM Green, Clarkson

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@miles proudfoot: Haha we can make ET jokes any time. I think I’m trying to get Rickarson. I know the upside for a well rounded good scorer is there, but damn Warren is a headache. Would make that swap

  18. Johnc says:
    (link)

Monta and TJones on the wire. My droppers would be Jennings, Leuer.
Which one do you like to add or would you do both (TJones been on and off my roster and has been frustrating but Cunningham may be injured).

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Johnc: Cunningham did come back… It was a nice game for Tjones, but with DMo there, I just dunno about the consistency. Would lose Jennings for MOnta. I know Monta is off a bad game, but I like his upsid playing a lot of 2nd unit minutes that I think ramp up

  19. Tyler says:
    (link)

Regretting trading Lowry for Wall. After reading Slim’s comments that Lowry is the ultimate sell high and would take Wall over Lowry. Did I do the right move?
Another reason I took Wall was because Wiz have better PO schedule and Raps might rest KLow during fantasy POs?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Tyler: I think I commented with you on this a few days ago, but they’re so close for, I had em back to back going into the season and both are playing great. I wouldn’t have big regrets either way. Lowry played 77 last year and only missed 2 in the fantasy playoffs, I would think mayyyybe they rest him 1 game, but who knows. I personally like Lowry a hair more, did coming into the yr, but I’d be happy with either

  20. Stat Studded says:
    (link)

    Hey JB,

What’s your take on Lin ROS? I’m thinking of trading Elfrid for Lin in a 9-cat H2H to buy low on Lin and improve FT%, but Elfrid’s been looking really good lately.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Stat Studded: Def would hold Elfrid. I ranked Elfrid higher going into the year and Brooklyn has Lin on a nice team friendly deal. I don’t see them pushing him on that hammy

  21. DK says:
    (link)

    Hey JB

I am itching for another trade. I need to solidify by big man blocks. I tried Myles, but too expensive. Horford owner willing to open up.

I briefly mentioned offering Bledsoe + MKG/Marcus for Horford+Jennings. He seems to be interested. What do you think? He’s leaning towards Bledsoe+MKG now.

    2016-2017: 14 Team H2H 9 cats
Guards: Rose, Kemba, Schroder, Brogdon, TJ McConnell, Bledsoe
F: Hood, Batum, MKG, Marcus Morris
    PF/C: KAT, Gobert

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@DK: The trade itch! You should get some ointment for that! Sure I like that deal! You have decent enough guards and some ASt from Batum, plus some added dime-age from Horford. Although I’d prob just drop Jennings…

  22. Dante Green says:
    (link)

Will AG have a better second half? I just dropped Knight for him yesterday (Knight decided to have a nice game. Lol). And what are your thoughts on Parsons? It’s hard to evaluate a guy who only plays 15 minutes. I want to see what he can do in 20 and then assess whether or not he can still get back to his old reliable healthy self. Anyhow, here’s my squad:

    PG — Schroder, Lawson
    SG — McCollum, Hayward
    SF — Crowder, Harkless, Parsons
    PF — Harris, Gordon
    C — Towns, Jokic

My money cats are 3PM, FT and Points. Rebounds and FG improved quite a bit, though I would still love to acquire a PF/C who can consistently provide 7-8 boards per game with good percentages. Nonetheless, I still like the improvement showed by my FG and Rebounds.

I got a boost in assists last week thanks to KAT and Joke, and I can see it improving still with Lawson on my team (I love that he’s still stealing Colly’s minutes HAHAHA)

My weakest categories are TO, and steals and blocks have been a problem right from the get go. I’m punting TO, though I would really love to improve my swats and swipes. I’m thinking of maybe trading Parsons once he gets back (IF HE DOES) to being a good NBA player, for a player who can help improve my weak stats.

That’s all bud! Thanks for speding time reading this! Hah

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Dante Green: Hah yeah def would have Gordon. Ummmmm, I mean he’s playing better… I like the move and upside is still there for AG. I’m still holding strong on parsons but can’t blame anyone for moving on.

Yeah if you can hold strong and Parsons starts heating up, I’d be totally down to move him for some D stats. Stay strong brother! Any time!

      • Dante Green says:
        (link)

        @JB Gilpin:

Yea, I’m holding Parsons. I really wanna see first what he can do in 25 mins of court time… And Gordon’s been playing decent basketball for four games now, I just hope he can sustain it…

Just a couple of questions bud:

        1) what can you say about Lawson getting serious burn right now? I haven’t really taken the time to evaluate the Kings, all I know is that their organization is trash, but would you care to shed some light as to why Lawson is still getting minutes and producing? Used my move on him last week, and I’m feeling kinda good I did. Though I would temper my expectations.

        2) what should we expect from Schroder once the Hawks totally blow their team up? Less assists? More turnovers? Poor FG? I’m having a bad feeling about his production come the 2nd half of the season. I’m thinking of moving him now.

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Dante Green: Sounds good to me! 1. Ugh, ummm maybe showcase? Not like Collison is the future either… Yeah be happy you got him and ride it out! 2. More TO def, but I think more points AND more assists. More usage and him creating rather than having other guys make plays

  23. Tyler says:
    (link)

Trade Dragic + Hayward or Dragic + Gay for Jimmy Butler?

    • Tyler says:
      (link)

@Tyler: Also Dragic + LouWill for Derozan?

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Tyler: I like the Gay one a lot more, but gun to my head I would do either. DeRozan one… Kinda depends on scoring need vs. PG need

        • Slim

          Slim says:
          (link)

@JB Gilpin: Definitely not the Hayward one. That’s too much, Gay can go, the DeRozan one I’d probably do.

          • Tyler says:
            (link)

@Slim: Dragic + Hayward for Lowry?

            • JB Gilpin

              JB Gilpin says:
              (link)

@Tyler: Whewwwww. Would be a big trade, but I would prob do it

  24. Game of Zones says:
    (link)

In a 12 team 9 catg h2h league with 5 keepers. i was offered Drummond, whiteside, cousins for my harden, gieng, gibson. In a redraft league i would accept, but in a keepers league i hate trading away harden(whom i can keep for another year).

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Game of Zones: Mannnnn. Hell of an offer. Team is going from FT punt to FT domination attempt hahaha. How would your FT look without Harden? If you’re not gonna turn into a legit punt, then it’s probably a no. But damn if you have good G depth and need bigs, I might have to take that

      • Dave says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: rest of my team bledso, galo, milsap ,mathews, gortat, nick young, dragic, Payton, nurk, Harrell ,

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Dave: Some guard depth! You’d become FT punt, so then would prob try and flip Gortat… FG% boost will be nice. Also I’m not seeing a huge crunch in keepers, you’d prob keep all 3 of those bigs, Millsap, and Bledsoe (wait can you keep any of the C you get?)

  25. Henry says:
    (link)

    Hey JB,

In my ft punt team Should I trade the good ft big man Jokic for some guards states? Jokic is a beast in the past more than 1 months (top 15), which leaves me less option to identify a good trade target. In a vacuum who would you target to trade him for?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Henry: Sure I like the idea, ummmm, maybe go high for Bledsoe? Dragic+something?

  26. Space Jam says:
    (link)

With Korver out of Atlanta and seeking out trades for Thabo and Milsap, does D12 become more or less valuable for the Hawks?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Space Jam: I’d say about even, he’s not gonna go out and start taking 30 shots or doing much differently

  27. Marshall says:
    (link)

I’m trying to get Porzingis and since the guy is a fan of Schroder, what do you think is a good initial offer? Schroder + Cody Zeller ?

    • Beal Parmesean says:
      (link)

@Marshall: If I was him I’d lol at that offer.

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Marshall: @Beal Parmesean: Yeah it would probably take a ton more…. Have someone better to throw in than Zeller that is a surplus for you?

        • Marshall says:
          (link)

@JB Gilpin: yeah from what I have been talking with him, I think an offer of Schroder and JJ may be enough…he is desperate for a pg

          • JB Gilpin

            JB Gilpin says:
            (link)

@Marshall: Wowwwwww, yeah run and get that deal done!

  28. Nukna says:
    (link)

    Razzup, JB?!
Would you rather take Harkless or Nogueira if the latter sees a bump in mins to some 24 or so?
I could use Bebe`s BLKs, but not sure it`s worth more than Harkless` well-rounded contribution.

    Thanks and regards from Serbia!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Nukna: Razzup man?! I’d likely rather own Harkless, even though I’m not as big on him as his fans or metrics. Any time!

  29. IanV says:
    (link)

Got offered Wiggins for Parsons. Take it or keep Parsons for the upside? Wiggins mostly pts but has guaranteed playing time. Worried about DNPs and minute restrictions during playoff time.

    • Beal Parmesean says:
      (link)

@IanV: I’d take Wiggins in a heartbeat. At least he’s healthy and tradable. Parsons has little to no value right now. Just my opinion.

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@IanV: @Beal Parmesean: I’d take Wiggins too, just much safer, but I do think we’ll take Parsons for more upside by post-ASB

  30. Chris says:
    (link)

Hey JB it’s a great time to be a bucks Fan! About 11 years ago I made 3,000 in a year and a half buying and reselling Lebron, Wade and Braun Cards on ebay. Why did I not do that with Giannis and Parker!! I suck!

Also, Curry is looking worse and worse as the #1 hopefully he kills it in the second half. I was so close to going Westbrook or Harden, oh well!

Anyways I have 2 trade questions for you 9 cat roto league, who wins.

    #1
    Giannis and Korver
    for
    A Davis and Wayne Ellington

    #2
    Teague-Crowder and Korver
    for
Chris Paul-Marcus Smart and Markieff Morris

    Thanks!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Chris: Dude that’s awesome! I spent a stretch having an eBay store doing cards myself. What’s the most $$ card you’ve owned/sold? Curry lookin better last night!

#1 – I’ll take Giannis, so much safer and might be better side even w/o injury risk. #2 Close one… Crowder is so good in Roto, but I’ll lean CP3

  31. NYFAN says:
    (link)

Thoughts on trading Dirk now for a ROS asset? Who to target? AGordon? MHarrell? SKilpatrick?
    Just looking for overall contribution.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@NYFAN: Yeah I wouldn’t mind Gordon or Harrell. I like Kilpat, but damn the minutes are bad these days

  32. Dylan says:
    (link)

Okay so my 12 team league has no IR spots but Simmons is a FA and I’m tossing up if it’s worth adding him for a stash (I’m making finals so can afford to hold him regardless of what happens). Any thoughts would appreciated and anyone’s advice that wins me another championship will definitely earn themselves a spot on the Christmas card list!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Dylan: If you’re guaranteed to make the Finals, then sure, stash away! He may still be on a mins limit by fantasy playoffs, but it could be good enough that he’s usable for ya. Hah look forward to being on the list!

  33. Tyler says:
    (link)

Who’s my drop to activate Gay?

    G-Wall,Dragic,Tyreke,Bev,LouWill
    F-Giannis,GHarris,Mirotic,Hayward,Harkless
    C-Gobert,Horford,Turner
    IL-Gay

Feel like its sweetlou but he’s been money all year. Will he get back to at least 15ppg and 1.7 3pts with volune Ft?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Tyler: Lou would need injuries to get that Sweet again… Tyreke has minor injuries again… Bleh he’s my drop

      • Tyler says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: already a lock for playoffs though, dont you think its worth stashin reke for the playoffs? Looking for the best value down the stretch between sweetlou and tyreke?

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Tyler: Mehhhh, Reke gotta be healthy by the time the playoffs roll around! I dunno if thatll happen – sure he might have a smidge more upside than Lou if everyone stays healthy up until then, but Lou could be huge if either Clarkson or Russell get hurt too

  34. Johnc says:
    (link)

I have an opportunity to obtain Lowry or D’Angelo from an owner devastated by injuries. So a two for one seems likely. I need threes and assists so want to strike quickly. For Lowry i think he would like Horford, Poison Goose , DeRo or Jokic as the main guy. They have been great for me so it is hard to see them leave. My second throw in would be a guy like G Harris, Leuer, Smart, Sergio. I would rather give him Adams and Porter but not sure they are prominent enough names for him. My roster:
    CP3, R Jax, Smart, Sergio
DeRo, Leonard, Porter, Leuer, G Harris
KAT, Poison Goose, Jokic, Adams, Horford

D’angelo (or Eldred) would be more modest of course. Maybe Sergio and Harris?
I am definitely a top contender without these trade ideas but this seems like an opportunity to grab a top 12 player in Lowry. Aim high forcLowry or improve via a more modest PG like D’Angelo? What say you?

    • Johnc says:
      (link)

      @Johnc:

Deal done! Could not wait. I sent DeRozan and Monta for Lowry.

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Johnc: Damn what an awesome deal! Yeah def should’ve have hesitated at all on that, nice work!

        • Johnc says:
          (link)

          Thanks!

So JRich and JaMike hit the wire this morning. I think Miami’s rotations are a mess but if Dragic shipped out, JRich could be big. I like him with Dragic anyway frankly.

I am thinking Sergio is my cut since I miscalculated the McConnell impact. Man, he had a great week. Simmons back too I imagine. Or is it Leuer?

          CP3, Lowry, RJax, Smart, Sergio
          Leonard, Porter, G Harris, Leuer,
KAT, Jokic, Adams, Horford, Poison Goose
          12 team, 9 cat league.

          • Johnc says:
            (link)

            @Johnc:

Tyreke on the wire too now. Interesting times. Tyreke has the injury bug and NOR is awful. But his upside vs Leuer’s ??? Getting JRich and Tyreke for Sergio and Leuer sounds good – although I probably won’t get either with the 9th position. LOL

            • JB Gilpin

              JB Gilpin says:
              (link)

@Johnc: Yeah I didn’t think TJ McConnell would take off like this either. Yeah I’d lose both him and Leuer. Ummm yeah i guess J Mike is a little boring right now. I’d be good taking the stab at Reke, but I’m not huge on him

My Pau Gasol, Jrue Holliday, and any one of Monta Ellis/Covington/KCP/Collison (as a throw in) for Otto Porter and Drummond? Would you do it? I’m pretty much a punt points/FT team build. 12 team 9-cat

@Beal Parmesean: Sure, that seems to fit that kind of deal swimmingly!

Hey man, Would you trade Kevin Love for K Leonard?
Trade analyzer rated love at 24.92 and 27.97 for Leonard.
Considering everything, like Kawhi possibly being rested more than Love do you think itll be worth it?

Also how do you feel about my avery brdaley for Marc Gasol.
I appreciate your time and prompt replies. Thanks in advance.

@Peter: I wouldn’t see any reason to have different DNP risk with Love vs. Kawhi, so I would 10000% take Kawhi. Love is playing well, but yeah, they’re still a few tiers apart for me…

Def would take Gasol as well, I know Bradley has had a great year, but Gasol has been phenomenal.

Yeah injuries have bit a little, but CP3 is back!

    Hi!
Who do you like more ROS:
    1)Isaiah Thomas
    2)Draymond The Kick Green

I lean towards Green but Thomas is at a superstar level this month that makes it so hard to part ways with him.

@bahraspower: Yeah Dray for me too, although if you needed the scoring and more consistency AST and FT volume, I could see the argument for IT2/3 in some builds. But in a vacuum, still Dray

    Hey JB,

So I’m in a 12 team 8cat dynasty league and I just got offered a doozy of a trade proposal.
Melo + 1st round pick (guaranteed top 4) for Simmons

I tracked Simmons from day 1 if his college career last year and won the luck of the draw to get him so it would sting to give him up but this seems like a legit deal for me to consider. What do you think?

    • JB Gilpin

@Nick: Mannnn, in 8 cat, Simmons could be great. That said, this draft class coming out looks phenomenal. Are you in the running for the title this year? If so, I think I’d have to do it

      • Nick says:
        (link)

        @JB Gilpin:

Yeah I’m 1st place. Are we not worried at all about Carmelo getting shutdown though? I explained a bit more context in Craig’s dynasty post. There’s a few more factors at play – one being that I’ll already have a top 5 pick for next year and the other main one being that we HAVE to roster a rookie, so losing Simmons will mean that I have to roster a scrub to replace him.

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:

@Nick: Ugh yeah the rookie part I’m not a fan of. but nah, I think the Knicks stay in the playoff hunt and as long as he can limp around should be fine

            @JB Gilpin:
Yeah it’s a tricky one haha, everywhere I ask people are saying that I should take the deal, but factoring in that I’ll need to pick up rookie scrub and then lose my stream spot makes it really tough for me. Maybe I’ll take it then try an work a 2 for 1 deal before the trade deadline. Thanks for the help!

@Nick: Yup I like that plan. I really don’t like your “must own a rookie” rule haha.

                @JB Gilpin:
I think it was our way of making draft picks mean something, cause our league otherwise is build like an 8 can standard league. 13 roster spots, 12 teams. I don’t like it either but it adds an element of strategy. For example, I made a mid-season trade last year to get me a guaranteed top 4 pick which turned out to be the #1 pick and netted me Simmons. My team was already competitive and it boosted my team value.

@Nick: That’s true, I guess you wouldn’t really feel this rule unless the draft class was really bad… Like it is this year haha

Hi JB- I was offered Westbrook for Otto Porter Jr. and Avery Bradley. Auction keeper league, Otto and Avery could be locked up in very favorable contracts for 3 years and Westbrook can’t be kept. It’s a win now move, but am I torpedoing my future if I let these guys go? Also, while the rebounds, assists, and points would be nice, unfortunately FG% and TOs are tight categories. So are steals, which overall I lose out on here. Thanks.

@Basketball: Wow. I think I’m with ya, I think I’m actually passing on that deal knowing the background! Cheap Porter and Bradley are great keepers, you take a loss on rebounding too

      • Basketball says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Thanks! My league has escalating keeper prices each year, but I paid $5 for Otto and $10 for Bradley this year, so in decent shape to lock them in for a few years.

@Basketball: Oh nice! Yeah on those deals I think I hold since it doesn’t sound like Russell would benefit your build

          • Basketball says:
            (link)

@JB Gilpin: Got it, though that’s sort of the dilemma I’m in, this isn’t exactly a build situation…I have a legit shot to win this year, I’m just not sure whether Westbrook is worth the hit either this year or going forwards. There’s a games played cap, which favors my trading 2-1, but it’s close.

@Basketball: Hmmm yeah that’s an interesting wrinkle.. Is it a per week games-played cap? Roto or H2H?
