Week two has wrapped, week 3 is halfway home, and the RCL picture is starting to be drawn!  Welllll, that’s not exactly true at all.  We’re still barely scratching the surface on the NBA season!  So have no fear if you started slow, add some upside guys off the wire, and turn this baby around!  I already have a team or two that needs a full 180!

Check out how your teams stacked up after week 2 in the 2016-17 RCL Master Standings Table table, and here’s some notable takeaways from the 2nd regular season week across our 23 RCL Leagues:

Want to know what’s even more fun than doing a Podcast with no internet?!  Doing a second one with no internet!  Thanks to the cable wire literally hanging in my front yard, today’s Podcast is another edition of some make-shift audio, but we still try to bring da goods!  On today’s show, we catch up on Otto Porter‘s huge run, if Zach LaVine can be this good of a shooter, and what to do with Pau Gasol.  We then wrap the show with our 30-point challenge picks and a quick catch-up with what we’ve been watching.

It’s been over 24 hours now.  The sun rose.  The sun set.  People played basketball.

Regardless of how you felt through Tuesday night, I think pretty much everyone can agree it was morally exhausting.  My wife actually wanted to watch the SNL Election Special last night that we DVRed, and all the laughing I did through the year plus of skits just got no response from me this time.  Well, the Jay Pharoah as Ben Carson was still pretty boss… But it was a poor DVR choice!

With all the divisiveness and vitriol flying around, I just don’t know if democracy is working any more.  Bring back a monarchy!  Hell, The Walking Dead is doing it…  (I think I’m going to make Nene‘s nickname King Ezekiel, but I’ll work on graphics for that later)  No more Healthcare.Mozgov, it’s time to [re]embrace Lord Covington!  His followers were jumping off the bandwagon like they were in Paris in 1789, but now we need a strong leader to get behind!  23/6/1/1/1 with no TO for Robert Covington against the Pacers for by far his best line on the season, hitting 8-16 FG with 5 treys.  Just needs to get in more uptempo games!  Honestly, I know I lost some RobCo faith, but I’m back on the bandwagon.  I’m a flip flopper!  Sue me!  So be sure he wasn’t cut in your 10 or 12 team leagues, and scoop him up if so.  Looks like his shot is back.  It is worth mentioning that USG-whore Joel Embiid got a DNP though, so that might have helped things open up, but then again Embiid tweeted this yesterday.

Embiid 2020!  If it becomes a contest of which candidate – Embiid or the incumbent – is bigger in the downstairs, we all know who would win that one!

As I steadily stood fast next to Stephen Curry as my #1 player, I was reminded of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog Friday night. With all that Lakers yellow and Curry missing all his treys, I was like “somehow that song Yellow, makes me want to pee! I think because when it’s over, it’s a big relief to me!”

This is why you don’t panic on shooters, even if they’re the most elite players in the land. Unlike your big man studs, they’re going to have more peaks and valleys. We didn’t really see much of that inconsistency last year, but we got about the most epic cold-then-hot consecutive games we’ve ever seen. After snapping his 3PTM streak at 157 games going 0-10 Friday, Curry comes out and BREAKS THE NBA RECORD FOR 3s LAST NIGHT! WTF IS THAT?!

46/5/5/2/0 on 16-26 shooting, including 13-17 from downtown. Crazy talk. Dudes in the 3-point contest don’t even shoot that well! And it’s almost kinda sad that the Warriors NEEDED that kind of output, only beating the lowly – now 0-7 – Pelicans by 10. Curry is suddenly at 47.7% from the field with 4.6 treys a game: my argument for him #1 – FG% mixed with league-best 3s. While the rest of his numbers are down a tiny bit, the last 3 games he’s at 7.7 AST and 2.0 STL. So those are coming around as well. I only had one RCL with a top-7 pick, thankfully in the Slim vs. JB League, where I was able to nab him #2 and I’m still thrilled about it. This game was a big relief to me too! We’re back with a brand new Razzball Hoops show, and NBA players are back with brand new fingers, knees, and ankles! Several key fantasy assets have returned to the floor over the past few days, and we review the returns of Gordon Hayward, Chandler Parsons, and Josh Richardson, as well as cover other news around the NBA since the weekend. We then resurrect Can We Make Slim Look Stupid with a doozy of a 16-17 debut, and then wrap the show with our 30-point challenge picks.

REL Basketball1Two weeks are now in the books (TWO WEEKS!), with Scurry to the Left and Yappers tied at the top with strong 15-3 records.  Yappers, the 2014-15 winner, is trying to get back into the golden jersey glory land, while Scurry is on a mission to be a contender.  Meanwhile, our defending champ I Ain’t No Jok(ic) is pulling a Carolina Panthers, and off to a rough 5-13 start.  Just takes a bye week to regroup!

It’s been exciting to see an aggressive waiver wire the past few weeks, as owners are ponying up for some fresh blood.  Can’t afford to FAAB hoard in these parts!  So if you play in deeper leagues, check out who was added this week in the REL to give you some thin-wire salvation.  I’m suddenly a fan of DFS for example!  Here’s how week two in the 2016-17 REL went down:

The fantasy basketball world is like, “bring out your dead!” “Free up those IL spots!” “Hope you have some scrubs to drop with everyone getting healthy again!”

With a shot of rum and locker room pyrotechnics, Jobu has unleashed his voodoo magic and Jesus Christ can now hit a curveball! Or I guess in this metaphor, hit a jump shot. Well, except if you’re Stephen Curry and you’re behind the 3 point line… Break up the Lakers!

It was a Sunday resurrection around the association, highlighted (well, for me) by Chandler Parsons getting back on the court yesterday afternoon. Way to take the spotlight off my Panthers, NBA scheduling! But good thing I focused on the Panthers, as Parsons was horrific, pulling a Jamal Murray and shooting 0-8 from the field. “Is that goal regulation size, or what?!” At least chipped in 3 boards and got a block, but didn’t finish the game with the starters in a close one, playing ~5 minute sets and only 22 minutes. After that rough anticipation of waiting, seeing such a dud out of the gate makes CP25 an ultimate buy low. I actually left him in my IL in a few RCLs, predicting a rough one outta the gate. Frustrated owners might think the knee is to blame, but he’s been practicing in full since before the season, so I think it’s just a little gametime rust. Just ask Jon Snow, when you get resurrected from the dead, you’re not 100% right out of the gate! Here’s what else went down over the weekend in fantasy basketball action:

The REL season is back!  And I’m still as lazy as Brad Pitt in True Romance with paying off my YouTube bet to Nick is Razzy!  Nick, it’s coming my man!  It’s on the docket!  I have my food contest all picked out and everything…

With the season kicked off, we’re now 1.5 weeks in for our run at Hall of Fame immortality.  If you started rough, one week certainly doesn’t sink your chances at glory, and the first week of the season wasn’t even quite a full week of action…  So if you started with an L, keep your head high, and Keep Pounding!  Oh wait, that’s my real-life football team…

Finally with over a week under our belt, we’ve got some trends to start talkin’ about! On today’s show, Slim & I discuss the Jerami Grant trade, if this early-season run by DeMar DeRozan is sustainable, figuring out what to do with the Brooklyn Mess, and reaction to a few injuries. We then conclude the show with previewing tonight’s games by making our 30-point challenge picks, and wrap the week at the movies.

Man, what a World Series!  The Cubs win Game 7 – in extra innings no less – to end their century plus drought and have their fans become insufferable, like the Red Sox.  Ugh.  But congrats to the Cubs, and now we can solely focus on basketball!!!  …until the football playoffs take over 45 minutes of every hour of Sportscenter…

Anywho, if it’s not my Brewers in the World Series, I could care less, and I was paying more attention to hoops last night anyway.  Very depressing night, but I wanted to start positive!  After singing his praises on the Pod Tuesday morning, T.J. Warren had a little bit of a down game on Halloween night, but bounced right back to lead the Suns to their first W in OT.  11-22 FG, love dat FG%, 5-5 FT, ditto, 27/7/0/2/1 with no TO.  Dem fighting numbers!  That gives him a 22.4/6.2/0.8/1.8/0.4 line on the season, shooting 50.6% from the field on 17.8 shots, 86.4% from the stripe in 4.4 FTA, and averaging only 1.0 TO.  This is turning into a fantasy MVP!  Of course, of course, of course it’s early, but Devin Booker was back after sitting one game, both Eric Bledsoe (hit the game winner) and Brandon Knight got their run, and I don’t really see any reason this can’t sustain.  The Pts probably come down a tad, but he doesn’t shoot 3s so the FG% should be huge, and he doesn’t really facilitate much which will keep his TO mad low.  On the Pod I compared him to DeRozan – with maybe even better FG% – and look at these floaters in traffic that are DeRozan-esque:

I’m very actively trying to correct the great injustice – with all my TJ love, I don’t own him on any teams.  Hopefully owners think this is a flash in the pan or a sell-high moment.  I don’t.  So be like Warren, take a trip to Dr. James Andrews, and get yourself a nice year-long TJ!  Here’s what else went down last night in fantasy basketball action:
