Don't be shellfish...Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterShare on Google+

Duh-duh-duh-duhhhh.  Duh-duh-duh-duh-duh!  Mandatory to listen to this while reading.

It’s the final day of the regular season!  If you’re reading you’re probably in your league championship or you’re awesome and keeping up with fantasy for next season.  I’ll be starting to do some offseason work next week, and probably start formulating the Razzball rankings for the 2013-2014 season.

But for those of you in your championships, it’s the final countdown.  One last day of a full roster to either snag that roto title or beat that douche who always changes his league smack or motto to something he finds funny about how good one of his players did.  We get it, “Luis Scola’d your nuts last night.”  Time to put him away.

Here’s some story lines to keep in mind and players out there to consider with a little recap of last night sprinkled in:

LeBron James - I haven’t seen anything official yet, but I’m guessing the Heat bench him and virtually everyone else. If you’re not gonna suit up against those Cavs fans heckling you, I don’t see why he’d show up for this game.

Tobias Harris - Last game to put on a show for a hopeful starting spot next year.  I think he has a big game against a depleted Heat team.  When you’re getting D’d up by Juwan Howard, things should go well.

Will Barton - Another extremely solid game last night playing 40 minutes going 8-14 FG 17 Pts 6 Rebs 5 Asts and 3 Stls.  The 6 TOs hurt, but that’s a very useful line on a limited slate of games on the penultimate day.  Like him again tonight.

John Jenkins - I liked him as a good streamer and everything was in place except him making shots.  Went 2-13 from the field but a 8-2-1-1-1 line.  Hopefully that didn’t kill your FG% (at least he went 4-5 from the FT line).  I still like him as a deeper option tonight.  The Hawks are tied with Chicago for the #5 spot, but they travel to a depleted Knicks team.

Josh McRoberts - I mentioned him Monday as he’s off two near triple-dubs.  Very suitable LeBron replacement for the finale.

John Henson - Another guy I like in a finale game tonight with Larry Sanders probably out to rest for the Heat playoff series.  Has been fantastic in his last 4 averaging a double-double with 1.5 steals and 3.5 blocks a night.

Chris Copeland - Gotta get him into your line-up as well, as he is the Knicks 6th or 7th primary scorer, and with all those above him benched, is their primary scorer!  I think another solid mid-20s point game is realistic.

Dwight Howard - Arguably the biggest game in his career.  As opposed to a playoff game for Orlando?  Meh, those Lakers fans would crucify him if he chokes here.  If the Jazz win and the Lakers lose, the Lakers are out of the playoffs.  I think he has a huge game.

Bismack Biyombo - Two Bobcats?  Nooooooo!  As I said Monday two straight dub-dubs with multi blocks in 5 straight.  Need a deep C, Biyombo could be your savior.

Lance Stephenson - Has been in and out of fantasy relevance, but is back in right now.  Double digit scoring in three straight with a big 22-point outing on Sunday against the ghost of the Knicks.  2 Steals a piece in the last 3 as well if you need swipes.

How do you like Kris Humphries and/or Blatche tonight? Both are previous starters in past years and I see Brooklyn giving their starters rest for the playoffs.

@JB Gilpin: Thanks JB. I’m specifically needing OREB in a very tight race for the championship. Any other guys you see that may be floating out there that would be better plays than Humphries or Blatche? Biyombo?

Also, do you see Ibaka and David Lee playing tonight and getting regular minutes?

@Christian Lauffer: I think I like Biyombo’s prospects the best as the Bobcats are the worst offense haha. But it’s razor close with Blatche a tick behind. Ibaka I’m doubtful on although I haven’t seen any reports to confirm or deny. The Thunder are locked in, so even if he starts I could see limited minutes. I think with the Warriors still in the mix for the #6 vs. #7 seed with Houston will keep Lee playing all game. As for other guys floating out there for OREB, John Henson I obviously like, Mike Scott might get solid minutes for the Hawks off the bench and had 6 last game and Trevor Booker also had 6 in a start for the Wiz last game and will probably start tonight.

Playoff league questions. Teams that make the playoffs in my league keep 5 from our regular season rosters, have a 1-round draft and then an auction to fill out rosters (3G, 3F, 1C, 2 Flex). I had the best record, but due to quirky seeding rules, get the 2nd draft pick, which sucks because it gives my main competition LeBron and Durant. Anyway, a few questions:

    1) Keepers: I’m definitely keeping Bosh, Melo and Paul. Need 2 more out of the following: M. Gasol (60 ppg in our format), Noah (72 ppg), Conley (53 ppg), George Hill (46 ppg) and Ray Allen (29 ppg). Thinking about the 2 Cs, even though they’re likely 2nd round exits at best. Given the rosters of my opponents, this should lead to C bidding wars (Hibbert, etc) that I don’t have to join. Would’ve liked the Bulls to slip to the 6 seed for a possible conf finals run, but that’s not looking likely.

    2) Draft strategy: Like I said, I’ve got an uphill climb against a team with LeBron and Durant. For my draft pick, do I go with Wade (62 ppg) to pair with Bosh against his LeBron, or Duncan (72 ppg), hoping the Spurs come out of the West?

    3) Auction strategy: I expect the draft to take Duncan, Wade and Ibaka off the board, leaving the following as top options at each position: G – Parker, Lawson, Ginobili, Felton, D. Williams; F – Leonard, West, Josh Smith, Faried, Z-Bo, Deng, Boozer; C – Hibbert, Chandler, Splitter, B. Lopez, Horford. Which players/teams would you target given my roster? At what point do you go for low-end guys from the Heat/Thunder (30 ppg guys like Allen, Martin, Sefolosha) over the guys listed above?

    • JB Gilpin

@Steve Stevenson: 1) – Definitely like Gasol, but I’m not sure how far the Bulls go. Not gonna lie, haven’t done a playoffs league in years so a little shaky with the rules, you accrue stats all through the playoffs right? It’s not a ppg only is it? If players get knocked out, I like Hill as your 2nd keeper as I see the Pacers putting on a good run.

      2) I think you gotta stick with Wade there. I don’t think anyone thinks it’ll be anyone but Miami out of the East and the Spurs, while having a good shot, aren’t my pick out of the West.

3)I would only rank a lower guy if I thought the higher guy will only survive one round. Given my questions about the Bulls, I like Martin and Sefolosha over any Bulls players. Not big on the Nets going much further than the 2nd round either. With assuming Bosh and Wade who on the Heat have the best shot for the finals, I think you can take more risks though, so guys like Z-Bo of D Will aren’t as risky. I would avoid the Spurs guards though, just so injury prone. I might actually target D Will at G there who had a monster final month.

Hope that givs ya a little help!

      • Steve Stevenson says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Thanks! Yeah, stats accrue all through the playoffs, no bench, so once your guy’s team is eliminated that roster spot’s dead. I was just giving ppg #s so you’d have a sense of their relative value in our scoring format, which would otherwise take a while to explain.

So do you like the Pacers over the Knicks to make the East finals, even with their injuries? Who do you think comes out of the Spurs/Nuggets bracket in the West? If they announce Rose is coming back for the playoffs (I don’t think this will happen), does that change your outlook on the Nets/Bulls series?

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Steve Stevenson: No problem! Yea I thought I had ya right just wanted to be sure. I’m gonna work backwards… No I think the Nets knock off the Bulls regardless, I don’t think the Bulls are consistent enough offensively. The Spurs/Nuggets I’m so waffling on… Such a great old school spread it out vs. slash n dash. I’ll take the Spurs in 7. And yea I like the Pacers to beat out the Knicks, the Knicks have looked terrible at times, and I just have a feeling no one is fully buying the Pacers.

I am in a yahoo league where I have 1 game remaining for both the Center position and utility. Can you play 2 and both will count or do they just choose who they want to use for the final game?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Brian: I am 99% sure both will count. In baseball leagues when you have an innings limit, it accepts all innings thrown that scoring day that you pass the limit, so I am certain both will count.

Final day of a head to head, need to catch up on points, steals, and free throws made. Wanted to check your thoughts on the following players:

-Jeff Teague – you think he’ll get decent minutes with a playoff spot locked but seeding still in play, and Smith out?
-Mike Conley – think he’ll get minutes since the Jazz have something to play for?
-Corey Brewer – take a chance on him? Was hot til the last 2 games. Have already conceded fg%

Basically have a revolving door of Jarrett Jack, Isaiah Thomas, Nate Robinson, Brewer, Conley, Teague right now. Which 4 do you pick? Really appreciate any help.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Mo Roy: 1) Not really he had a sore ankle a few weeks back and I bet is limited (only 18 minutes in the blowout yesterday).
      2) Yea, I think Conley will play close to his allotted minutes, unless the Grizz get way behind.
      3) I love me some Corey Brewer. I think he’s a good play tonight.

Well I can’t bet against Nate Robinson anymore, he loves to prove me wrong! I like IT2 Robinson, Brewer and Conley. Teague’s probable limitation or benching and Jack’s biggest asset right now is Asts has me pick those 4.

      • Mo Roy says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Awesome, thanks for the reply. Am going with that lineup. One more wrinkle – I’m guessing the Bucks will rest starter, and honestly I’m sick of riding the Ersan rollercoaster. Sit him and start any of the guys above, or Pecovic if he plays?

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Mo Roy: Ya know, I know the Bucks should rest guys but I have a feeling they won’t as much since they’re so cold right now. I could see them trying to get everyone on the right page. I think Jack is close… But I’d stick with Ilyasova, more points upside, Jack barely edges Ilyasova for steals and even FTM. I doubt Pek is gonna be able to suit up… Which is sad he’s been so good when playing!

          • Mo Roy says:
            (link)

@JB Gilpin: Cool. thanks again. Final lineup is Conley, Eric Gordon, Gerald Henderson, Dirk, Jonas Valanciunas, I. Thomas, Vucevic, Ilyasova, Robinson, Brewer. Teague, Josh Smith, Pecovic, and Jack on the bench. Dropped a lot of stars (Wade, Ibaka) to get here – hoping to pull this off with spot fill-ins against a much better team

Please forgive my long question. This is my first time playing fantasy basketball and I made it to the Championship…I reaallllllly want to win lol. With the final week on the line i stacked up on players that would help me in the categories that I need to win or catch up in, but now I think I have too many PF, F, Cs on my team.

Here are the matchup stats right now…I’m losing
    FG%– Me: .455 Him: .466
    FT%–Me: .762 Him: .808
    3pt–Me: 48 Him: 47
    Pts–Me: 621 Him: 662
    Reb–Me: 247 Him: 262
    Ast-Me: 169 Him: 145
    Stl– Me: 59 Him: 39
    TO– Me: 93 Him: 83

    Here is my Roster

Chris Paul @ SAC, Monta Ellis @OKC, Paul George v. PHI, Ilyasova @OKC, Tobias Harris @MIA, D. Cousins v. @LAC, Deandre Jordan @SAC, Chandler Parsons @LAL, Greg Monroe @BKN, Chris Bosh v. ORL, John Henson @OKC

He has these people starting tonight:
Kyrie Irving @ CHA, Wilson Chandler v. PHO, Deron Williams v. DET, Danny Green v. MIN, Dirk v. NO, Reggie Evans v. DET, David Lee @ POR, Nikola Vucevic @ MIA

I’m not sure which players will be rested for the playoffs, who do you think I should Start?

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@BCPro: With Blks tied and Rebs close, I like playing bigs. Clippers are playing for home court so like Jordan & Paul for full-ish games. How many of those you listed are in your line-up/how many positions do you need filled? I don’t think anyone is going to be limited that I can tell right now that you listed.

        • BCPro says:
          (link)

@JB Gilpin: Right now I’ve got Paul, Ellis, George, Ilyasova, Harris, Jordan, Cousins, Parsons starting but I’m not comfortable with it b/c I think G. Monroe will give me rebounds and J. henson will give me blocks & D. Cousins’ minutes in the last two games have been limited.

The only positions I’m completely set on are CP3 as PG, Monta as SG, P. George as G, and T. Harris at my SF spot, all other spots are open so thats PF, F, C and Util. Leaving D. Cousins, Parsons, Monroe, henson, bosh, and D. Jordan vying for those spots

We have daily lineup changes in my league

whats up, been making some terrible calls this week and am seeking your advice for tonights lineup. 11 category h2h and close in a few categories, but mainly rebounds and blocks. heres
    FG% FT FT% 3pt pts O-Reb Reb Ast ST BLK Ast/TO ratio
    MY TEAM – .487 104 .819 43 631 72 281 182 45 35 1.77 6 – score
    OPP Team-.454 152 .831 49 703 63 278 153 54 34 1.63 5 – score

PG – CP3, G – Lillard, SG – Wilson Chandler, SF – Tobias Harris, PF – Chandler Parsons, F – Millsap, C- McRoberts, C – Asik (Hibbert and Bosh benched), Util – Jeff Teague. Bench – will barton

would you start Will Barton or Paul Millsap. im thinking Millsap might look like the obvious choice bc of his pedigree and my needs and hes playing in a meaningful game. But, he has been playing poorly lately and Barton has been real solid, getting big minutes, and he does pull a good amount of boards.

    Thank you

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@timmy riggins: Uh oh, way to put the pressure on me! I have a feeling Teague will be very limited. Coach Larry Drew limited everyone in their last game and I could see similar limitations tonight. So I like Barton at UTIL over Teague. Plus Barton is a much better rebounder and it looks like you need to hold him off at OREBs like you mentioned. Everything Teague givs ya the most of (Stls & Asts) I don’t think you can lose in or win, respectively. Good luck tonight!

      • timmy riggins says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: do you think teague was getting rested bc of upcoming playoffs or bc theyre getting a-whooped? does winning their game tonight have any seeding consequences? knicks are benching everyone and hes a beast at the A/TO ratio. Having said that, looks like my opponent is benching M.Conley.

Also, if bosh plays would you start him at util? Thanks again

      • timmy riggins says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: also, likely that CP3 gets benched or have limited mins again tonight vs lowly Kings?

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@timmy riggins: If Bosh plays then yes, but I don’t think he is. Teague was def a mix of both, but I think the Hawks B team can take care of business against the Knicks B team. They’re playing for seeding of 1 spot I think 5th or 6th, so not the most dire of circumstances. I think CP3 plays, the Clippers are playing for #4 vs. #5 spot which carries home court vs. away the first 2 games so the Clips will really want that one. I think he plays solid minutes.

          • timmy riggins says:
            (link)

@JB Gilpin: 14 team H2H league finished first in the regular season with the next best team 22.5GB and third place ended 30GB. For some reason the playoffs extended to the last week of the season where as you know all the studs are benched. This idiocy is equivalent to playing the championship game week 17 in fantasy football. Since I drafted well, i have a lot of studs, and they were of course benched.

Bosh/Hibbert barely played this week and I lose the title by 1 block. Had Asik last night and was thinking I need OT to get one more chance at a block. Dude, has many opportunities to stick his mitts up and block howard when they kept dumping the ball down low, and nothing.

Worst part is im a knicks fan, and I faced Copeland who had a last minute block and has been irrelevant the entire season. And my opponent is talking smack like hes the man and as if half my team wasnt benched for the championship week, what a dick. hoping this rant helps ease my pain…

thanks again for your contributions….see ya next season (if they change the format)

@timmy riggins: Totaly agree and a little surprised so many leagues did last until the final day. I prefer leagues end with the week before the last week and a half. That way everyone (minus a few Heat players) were still playing as normal. Sucks to lose a season on one stat category esp a block Copelamd gets and not Asik. Sheesh. Tell him that Razzball Nation voids his win. Sorry I couldn’t have helped more but next year I’m gonna be here all year! Have a good one man

So here we are! Its almost over… But i want to get hardcore into baseball anyway!

I seen you dont like iblocka tonight and i dont either. They are locked, no reason to play anyone. What about D will tho? Thinks he gets enuff burn to be relevant? probably not, im guessing..I also have jennings whos up in the air..

This guys team has a bunch of bums but hes good cuz they are all getting minutes! I got all the stars and im the one worrying… Makes no fuckin sense man! But i relapse… I mean digress!

But whatcha think? They are my only real question marks i think… D lee, dirk, zbo are good to go i assume as theyre still fighting for seeding. I am worried about asik but ifs hes playin full minutes i dont care bout no d howard! I want minutes like a crackhead!

Anyway… Can you tell im all over the place? Good… Championships should do that to you!
