When you’re The Duchess K Middleton, you don’t go on scrubby vacations.  None of that beach hotel with bratty kids running around and sand in the halls, none of those rickety cruise ships where the power goes out and you have to poo in plastic bags…  I’m talking huge!  Like Disneyland completely rented out only for the family!  Sledding down glaciers in Antarctica!  Hanging out with baller celebs at The Razzball Basketball Office!

As is always the case, our commenters are absolute gold.  Joe mentioned the trend of Khris Middleton‘s poor play with Jason Kidd the coach, and I also ran with it looking at the numbers in a FantasyPros piece on second-half expectations.  Now, it’s not really that The Duchess is playing that poor, but ROS rankers had him 36th overall.  Seemed a little rich – not quite Kate Middleton rich – but like, Queen Latifah rich.  Using the ol’ copy-and-paste: “Since Jan. 26, Middleton has shot only 33% from the field with a 3.6:3.6 AST:TO ratio (I guess I could’ve simplified that to 1:1!) in 7 games. Given, it’s a pretty small sample, but in the 17 games immediately prior to when Kidd was out, Middleton shot 50% with a 5.0:2.5 AST:TO ratio (I mean 2:1!). And then the chunk at the beginning of the season until Kidd’s hip gave out, dimes were at 3.4 and he shot 39.9%.”  I agree it could be statistical noise, but Kidd has had several “are you effing KIDDing me?!” moments with his line-ups.  Luckily The Duchess ended the first half on a high note, going 27/6/9/5/0 with only 2 TO and shooting 9-17.  Kidd must’ve just been not paying attention!  Too busy rubbing his bald head like foreplay with Mr. Clean.  It’s a great finale to an otherwise rough February, and maybe It’s Much Ado About Nothing.  Which just seems British, I dunno…  And you wanna know who else is heading into this ASB strong?!  ME!  And well, the NBA by only having two games…  So a slightly shorter Daily Notes, since we’re all ready to actually pay our families some attention with the NBA off until next Thursday (that is, except for the All-Star events!).  Here’s what else went down last night in Fantasy Hoops action:

Greg Monroe Continuing to come off the bench, which put The Moose in hibernation last night.  12/9/1/2/0 in 33 minutes, and it has to feel great being the prize free agent brought in to lose your starting job to Miles Plumlee.

Michael Carter-Williams The roller coaster continues, except it’s like a no-fun roller coaster that just makes you sick.  “Step right up, get in line for the SARS coaster!”  5/5/3/1/0 with 4 TO in 20 pretty awful minutes.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Rough few days for the 3 name Michaels…  Remember when I quipped that the Hornets medical staff mighta learned their ways from the dumbass Pelicans medical staff?!  Well, MKG returns wayyyyyy earlier than we thought with his torn labrum, and after only a few games, re-dislocates his shoulder and tears it again.  Wow, way to let him back wayyyyyy too early.  If anyone gets fired from the medical staff, Nawleans will hire…

John Wall Had a rough game, and may miss the ASG due to some bangs and bruises, accentuated by a sore knee last night.  He played through it, but settled for a whopping 12 3PTA out of his 19 shots.  That seems unsettling for sure!  At least he got a rainbow line – 15/4/10/2/2, albeit with 7 TO.  Those TO are about as annoying as Settlers of Catan!  It’s a glorified mother F dice game!

Bradley Beal 37 minutes last night.  Is that scaring anyone else but me?!

Ryan Anderson 2-12 for 4 Pts and not much else last night.  Man, the Pels have been my punching bag!  Sucks to lose Tyreke Evans though…  Shocking!  More medical mis-handlings by the Pelicans…  I still think Norris Cole isn’t quite a “must-own” in 12ers, but he can help more teams than hurt…

Russell Westbrook/Kevin Durant Did you expect much less?!  At least I can coast into the break with minimal OKC analysis, you know what you’re gettin’!

Cameron Payne Well, I will mention that Payne is gonna be too legit to quit once he starts.  I dunno if it’s in OKC if Westbrook goes somewhere else, or if he gets the R-Jax treatment.  Only 4 Pts last night, but 8 AST in 27 minutes – given a little was in junky junk time.

Happy All-Star Break, Razzball Nation!  Sorry for the short post, but blame the schedule makers!  And don’t forget, tomorrow we have a special edition of the Pod for the ASB.  Enjoy the break!

Looking at making a move for Middleton… I have Jae Crowder (maybe I could trade him straight up, both are averaging 19.7 points in ESPN leagues on the season) or I have Rodney Hood that might be a little enticing for the other guy. Whuddya think?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:

@Hey Vee: I’d definitely offer Hood first. He has a history of lower leg issues, and I just think Crowder is locked into finishing at this value since he’s done it all year. even if no injury, I could see Hood waffle, plus Burks will be back and cut in a smidge

      • Hey Vee says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Good point about Burks, I had completely forgotten about him. And yeah I was wondering what you thought about Crowder’s ROS. Gracias senor. I’ll see if I can work something out

    Great quickie!

So, Barnes was just dropped after that big 14 minute donut he posted because the game got out of hand in the 3rd. Not sure the previous owner was aware of that. That said, I recently scooped up Harkless because he’s taking command of that Vonleh-less PF spot and thriving and also Philly Grant because he’s neat with stats. You know where I’m going with this…Do I drop either of them for Barnes since Gasol is dead for the next bit of while? I can’t even hear what my gut is saying so I need a little guidance. Thanks mane.

@v00dr00: Thanks man! Sometimes you just need a quick one, real fast in and out. Haha…

Hah yeah poor Marcy Marc. Yeah I think you’re adding Barnes, just more upside and better fantasy contributor than Harkless, I think that’s the swap there. I highly doubt Moe holds onto a big role ROS, he just never has

      • I'm Harden for your love says:
        (link)

        @JB Gilpin:

Figure I jump on the Barnes thread… Who would rather have Barnes or Gibson? I’m starting to look a playoffs and Gibson has an extra game in semi’s and finals over Barnes.

      • v00dr00 says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Turns out I had a healthy Tim Duncan in my IR spot, so couldn’t do the pickup. Do I lose Grant for Barnes now?

@I’m Harden for your love: @v00dr00: Slim was talking with me today on Barnes, he’s easing off. I’ll lean Gibson too, but this injury he just got is a little scary. Man Grant’s blocks have been good… Can you just keep Duncan there a little longer and just hold Grant? I would prob do that and reasses after break

Hey where’s the love for Iblocka this morning??

Statlines like 18 and 7 with 3 blocks and a trey just bring a tear to my eye.

Considering the fact that JR Smith has been on fire lately, would you trade him straight up for Harrison Barnes? I love me some JR but I had him last year and his rough patches were really rough. You think he keeps it up or eventually cools off?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Eddie Rooskie: Hah what happens when you have a hectic Friday morning! Also, with my low shares in Ibaka right now (I think I have him on only 1 RCL?), I forget how bad he’s been haha.

Meh, I would probably hold, but it’s less about JR being hot than me just not being a big Barnes guy…

  4. Eddie Rooskie says:
    (link)

Yea I can’t blame you for that, hes had some fantastic games but mostly disappointing this season with his inconsistency.

I was thinking the same thing too, whatever the Cavs are doing now seems to be working.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Eddie Rooskie: And he just doesn’t do enough consistently to me. A 3PTM or two, some points, anddddd, maybe a handful of boards sometimes? Meh

  5. Joe says:
    (link)

JB mentioning me in an article. I’ve arrived!!! I’m printing this post and having it framed.

So now the million dollar question is do I trade Duchess while he’s looking all regal? I can keep him for one more year at a 10th rd price, which is a bargain. But it also makes him attractive trade bait (especially if 2nd half brings us more are you KIDDing me moments)

I could target any of the following: LeBron, Lillard, Millsap, Horford, Love, Vucevic, or Gay. What they have in common is that they are all on teams with losing records (in my league) and that they are likely not keepers. So I could offer up a 1-for-1, 2-for-1, or 2-for-2 including swapping picks. I thought about Nerlens too, who is a 5th round keeper, but not sure the owner would part with him. Who do I target, if anyone, and how?

Team in a 9-cat h2h: Wall, Teague, Avery B., Redick, Duchess, Batum, KD, Bosh, Goose, Gortat, Gobert

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Joe: Yessir! And gave you a shout out there on FantasyPros, you’re everywhere!

Hmmmm. If they’re not keepers, I’ll leave out going for Love/Vuc/Gay. Using Slim’s handy-dandy playoff sched breakdown (http://basketball.razzball.com/itsthereturn), I kinda wanna avoid the Hawks too. So that leaves Bron and Lillard. I’m a little worried about BronBron DNPs. So I guess it would have to be a 2-for-1 or 2-2 for Lillard, which I’d be good with. I’d be fine offering Middleton and Teague…

  6. Dante Green says:
    (link)

Lol @ Kidd. What’s the deal with him making Moose come off the bench?

Just a question tho, would you put KAT ahead of guys like LBJ, CP3, Wall, George, in your rankings next season? Jeez The kid is just phenomenal. 2ble-2ble machine, crazy good percentages. Points sits at 17.1 per contest. I mean he’s just a fcukin rookie right?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Dante Green: Another “are you effing KIDDing me?!?!?!” haha. Definitely ahead of those last 3. LeBron will still be close… He’s unreal though, certainly a first rounder!

  7. John says:
    (link)

Carroll on the wire. Is he Worth grabbing now given Toronto’s 5 games during first playoff week and help in threes, steals? I would probably lose Gibson given my roster and his injury concern. But appreciate your thoughts on that too. Thank you.

    DeAndre, Hassan, Gortat, Okafor
Ariza, Crowder, DAnny Green, Taj, E Turner
Payton, Wall, Paul, Cole, Etwaun Moore,
    IR: Butler

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@John: Kinda depends on where you are in the standings. Holding 2 IR guys if you’re not a top seed seems a little too punty until you get there. I have no issue losing Taj or Etwaun for guys off the wire though, and def cool for Carroll if you’re 1 or 2 in standings

      • John says:
        (link)

        @JB Gilpin:
Great points as always. I may have overvalued Carroll as a key playoff guy. I am one game out of second and have a harder schedule for sure. He misses the first, fourth and ninth place teams; I miss the 12th, 8th and 6th. Math says I finish third. I guess i could drop Gibson for Luol (ugly wire) and then stream away.

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@John: Yup I much prefer streaming than coasting with Demarre and risking playoff seeding

Hey. who’s the better stash ROS 12 team, taj or mirotic? #1 in league with a good margin. could drop zaza, gary harris, or darren collison.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Kevin: I guess Mirotic since he has more upside, but I honestly don’t think I’m dropping anyone for those two.

      • draco21 says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: If you have a good margin, taking a flier on miro with upside over harris would be killer. Bulls have better playoff sched too.

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Kevin: @draco21: I dunno, I could see Harris getting hot too, plus Miro’s minutes with all this time he’s missing with his body ill, I doubt he gets 25-30 min unleashing

I’m in a12 team h2h weekly league 9 cats we DON’T USE TO #!!!! We use FG% Instead. For the rest of the season and playoffs. would Eric Gordon help my team out more than Brandon wright. I have wright and was offered Gordon straight up. My team is cp3,d.booker,r.cov,draymond,drummand,noel, porzingus, h barnes , m smart, n batum, bench is Tobias ( inj) p.j tucker n Brandon wright…… my team is very good at catagories RB,BLK,STL. … I’m solid at AST. … I’m decent at 3’s ……. I’m OK at FG% and horrible at Points made, field goals made and FT%… what do you think?? Thx for the help .

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@tentyme: Well those cats you’re low in, it’s definitely more fitting for Gordon! Although Drummond makes FT% probably a punt anyway. Yeah I’d take it, gimme Gordon for your build!
