It’s a story as old as time. Hot girl from a different continent arrives at the new local high school. All the dudes go goo-goo gah gah over said hot girl. Popular girls at high school, who were the hot girls before are now relegated to has-been status. But they ain’t going out like that. They get their hair done, splash some intoxicating perfume on, hike up their skirts, and flash some boob, then voila! All the dudes in the house go, what? WHAT?! LaMelo Ball was the hot girl and got all the love and attention in the preseason with his fancy passes and what not, but Terry Rozier wasn’t impressed.

You better recognize!!! A career-high! And in 38 minutes. Holy three-pointers, Batman! Someone was hucking and chucking like his job was on the line. Last season, Rozier attempted 10 or more tres in eight games. Now, he’s not going to shoot 65% every night. Duh, as he’s a career 39% shooter from the field. In addition, LaMelo is going to get more run as the season progresses, so enjoy this 40-burger for what it was: an outlier performance.

As good as advertised. Still, the Hornets lost to the Cavs, 114-121. Remember that movie Big? Instead of a body change, how about a simple name change? That’s easy. Michael Gordon is proud to introduce his newest star, #20 Jordan Hayward. The wins should start flowing in.

One of the favorite late-round centers, Plumlee delivered a solid performance. The dimes are for real, but I wouldn’t expect six every game, more like three to four. Zion is a beast on the boards but he’s going to need to develop a J to shoot over the wall that many teams will employ against him. Simmons is the Khloe Kardashian of the NBA. He’s rich, famous, has the name cache, and produces for his fans. Yet, he has some ugly characteristics, which can be masked in certain instances. In the right setting, with makeup and proper lighting, both can be beautiful.

Played 30 minutes off the bench. Class? Yo, Joe! Don’t expect much in the defensive cats normally, but points, tres, and some dimes are on the menu.

Bam Adebayo

I was hoping that tres would be an addition to Bam’s game this season, but I guess not. No worries though, as the rest is magnifique. Well, expect the turnovers. Those are ugly.

A smooth criminal. What else did you expect? Did you see how much he was charging for coffee in the Bubble?

Tyler Herro

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
13 6 4 0 0 4 1/5 6/14 0

Got the start and played 32 minutes with a solid 23.7 usage rage. Don’t expect much in the way of defensive stats, but points, tres, boards, and dimes should be provided.

Moe Harkless

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
3 2 1 0 0 0 1/2 1/4 0

Got the start and played 23 minutes. My bold prediction entering the season was that Harkless would be a top 100 player. He’s low usage but has 1/1/1 potential. Back in 2016, he was a top 100 player, but that was on the heels of 29 minutes per game. I thought he had a chance for 28 this season. If he only gets 23 mpg, then it ain’t happening. Even if you received 230 minutes, it may not happen.

Goran Dragic

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
20 4 7 1 0 1 1/4 8/13 3/3

In 26 minutes off the bench. Garnered a healthy 25 usage rate. Dragic is a good source of points, tres, and dimes.

Kendrick Nunn

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
0 2 0 0 0 0 0 0/1 0

Played eight minutes off the bench. With Dragic and Herro handling the point guard duties, Nunn is an afterthought. Why didn’t Kendrick play last night? Nunn ya business.

Aaron Gordon

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
20 7 0 4 0 2 1/4 8/11 3/6

Played 26 minutes, as he had some foul trouble. The steals were a surprise and I wouldn’t expect much in the way of defensive stats for Gordon. The bagel in dimes is likely an outlier, though. I’d expect a handful each night. We’ve gone from Commissioner Gordon to the AG to rondon? I don’t know. It’s freaking late and I’m close to 5,000 words in.

Nikola Vucevic

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
15 11 3 1 1 2 3/5 5/13 2/8

Made a valiant run at the top spot in the Nikola pantheon last season, but he just doesn’t have it. It’s a two-Nikola race between Jokic and Tesla. With that said, Vucevic is still a solid fantasy basketball player, as he provides across-the-boards production.

Markelle Fultz

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
15 5 4 1 1 4 0/3 6/15 3/3

Played 29 minutes. We are all witnesses. Solid, solid game and it looks like he could produce in every cat. That would be huge. I still remember his highlights at UW. Please, bring that guy back!

Evan Fournier

25 0 4 3 0 2 3/5 9/13 4/5

No caffeine, fizz, or artificial flavoring. This Evan is pure, thirst-quenching goodness. Points, tres, and steals with a hint of boards and dimes are what you get.

Terrence Ross

Shopping at Ross consists of the entire emotional spectrum. Sometimes you’ll be elated while other times will be straight dejection. Last night was of the Goldilocks variety.

Julius Randle

17 9 9 0 0 5 0/2 4/15 3/4

At least this Julius never stabs us in the back. We know exactly what we’re getting from him: a potential trip-dub with nothing else.

Mitchell Robinson

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
3 6 0 0 3 0 0 1/2 1/2

Got the start but only played 21 minutes. Can you guess why? Yup.

R. J. Barrett

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
26 8 5 0 0 1 3/3 11/15 1/2

Ruh roh. Has someone figured out some things? I’m skeptical but he is only 20 years old, so development is in the range of outcomes. Now, will he be this efficient? Probably not.

Alec Burks

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
22 4 3 1 1 1 2/4 6/12 8/9

Came off the bench but played 32 minutes. That’s probably the best role for him as Barrett and Randle soak up most of the usage on the starting unit. Burks is going to provide points, tres, and boards. Don’t expect the defensive stats on the regular.

Domantas Sabonis

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
32 13 5 1 0 4 2/4 11/18 8/12

Yo, he’s draining tres now? Sabonis is a dub-dub stud and will provide good percentages. The dimes are very healthy as well. Arvydas must be so proud. Or maybe this is just an outer shell that Arvydas transferred his soul into. I don’t care. Do you?

T. J. Warren

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
5 1 1 0 0 0 0/2 2/8 1/1

Got the start but only played 23 minutes. He’s still dealing with plantar fasciitis, so there’s obvious concern. That’s not something that just goes away. Shoo, plantar fasciitis. You’re not welcome here.

Malcolm Brogdon

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
21 7 8 2 0 1 2/4 8/16 3/3

Malcolm did not play in the middle last night. He was shining bright in the penthouse, delivering fantasy goodies to all who rostered him. Such a solid player. Just needs to stay healthy.

Victor Oladipo

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

He looked good. Granted, it was the Knicks but still. I doubt he ever returns to that top 10 player from 2017, but top 50 player? Sure, why not.

Doug McDermott

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

In 28 minutes off the bench. You know it was going well when he had a put back dunk. Now, he averaged 20 mpg last season, so this was probably the highlight of his season. Dougie can provide tres and that’s about it. Do the Dougie.
