We choose to supersize that meal or put cheese on the burger so that our stomachs look like Kuato in Total Recall. That’s our choice. We choose to wear the jimmy hat or live dangerously. That’s our choice. We choose to draft KAT over Anthony Davis in fantasy. That’s our choice. But there is so much out of our control. The world we were born into. Our parents. What we look like. In a videogame, we choose what difficulty level we play on. In life, that has been chosen for us. Some play on hard, while others get cheat codes. Willy Hernangomez hit the genetic lottery. 6′ 11″ 240 pounds, athletically skilled, and good looking. Sure, he worked his ass off to get where he’s at. Lifting weights, running, and plucking eyebrows, but he had a nice base to work with. Last year during his rookie campaign, he was a monster per-36: 16 points, 13.6 boards, 2.6 dimes, 1.1 steals, 1.0 blocks, 53% field goal percentage, and 73% free throw percentage. Unfortunately, he only played 18 minutes per game. Out of his control. Regardless, Willy was viewed as a franchise piece, but then the Knicks acquired Enes Kanter. The minutes plummeted to 9 a game, even though the per-36 numbers were still robust. Out of his control. If you go back to my earlier blurbs regarding Willy, I mentioned that he hooked up with Hornacek’s daughter. I’d hit up the Google machine right now. Wouldn’t you? I’m still not dismissing that angle, so maybe Willy had some control in the matter. Anyways, after bitching and complaining, he finally got his wish and was shipped to the Hornets. Too bad the Hornets had some guy named Dwight Howard. Can’t forget about Cody Zeller as well. So, Willy was not freed and the situation looked identical to the one in New York. But, Zeller is out for the season due to injury and yesterday, Willy played a season-high 22 minutes.

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

Per-36 in CHA, Willy is at: 17.7 points, 14.9 boards, 1.8 dimes, 1.1 steals, and 1.6 blocks. The Hornets are out of the playoff picture and there’s no reason to push Dwight, so Willy should see significant run to end the season. Free at last….free at last….Willy is free at last.

Here’s what else I saw yesterday:

Dwight Howard:

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
10 10 0 1 1 1 0 4/7 2/5

Played 26 minutes and did just enough to fill his quota for the day. Why would the Hornets push Dwight down the stretch? A perfect time to see what exactly they have in Willy.

Kemba Walker played 26 minutes and scored 10 points. Nicolas Batum played 22 minutes and scored 8 points. No reason to give these guys significant run.

Malik Monk:

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
 16 2 3 1 2 5 4/9 6/13 0

Played 24 minutes. Monk should get the run down the stretch. Here’s hoping that Malik’s got some OCD in him.

Robert Covington:

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
17 11 3 7 0 1 1/9 7/21 2/2

The Lord giveth. The Lord taketh away. Guess it’s fitting that on Easter Sunday, the Lord Covington did both. Funny that he accumulated the holy number in the category that is forbidden in the Ten Commandments.

Ben Simmons:

In this day and age, Ben is the new unicorn. I’ll be honest, I was fronting on him coming into the season. Was skeptical that he could be this productive without a J. I BELIEVE!!!

Marco Belinelli:

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
22 1 3 1 0 5 3/4 9/10 1/1

Played 31 minutes. Momma mia!!! Doesn’t shoot as many downtowners as Redick, but Marco has been a consistent performer. Getting over 25 minutes per game and has failed to score in double figures just three times this month.

The Wizards lost to Da Bulls, 94-113. Remember all the fans earlier in the season chanting, “We don’t need no Wall?” A bunch of Caspers now.

Bradley Beal:

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
 15 4 5 3 0 1 0/6 5/17 5/5

While Beal can run and initiate on offense, he is better suited working off the ball. Wall played two games ago and should be back against HOU on Tuesday.

Lauri Markkanen:

I think Markkanen is going to be a star. Can’t wait to see the developments he makes in the offseason.

Bobby Portis:

Sean Kilpatrick:

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

Played 23 minutes and led the Bulls in shot attempts.

So, 12 players for CHI played at least 15 minutes, but no player received more than 26 minutes of run. Ha! Have fun trying to mine production. Might as well mine bitcoin while you’re at it.

Chris Paul did not play, but is expected to play on Tuesday.

James Harden:

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
25 3 8 0 0 5 1/6 8/19 8/8

A limp performance. Should expect more of these, as the Rockets have nothing to play for.

When one of either Paul or Harden sit, Eric Gordon slides into the starting shooting guard role, while Gerald Green moves up the assembly line and takes on the microwave role.

Gerald Green:

LaMarcus Aldridge:

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

No laughing matter, as LMA led the Spurs to a 100-83 victory over the Houston Possums.

Rudy Gay:

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

Played 24 minutes. I feel like the Spurs and Gay have been playing possum all season long as well. Wouldn’t surprise me if Gay goes nuts in the playoffs. He’s so versatile. With that said, he’s still probably recovering from all his injuries.

Myles Turner:

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

Uh, officer. I was not going 100 mph in a 35 mph zone. At least that’s what my Odometer was telling me. So hard to trust Myles because he’s been so inconsistent, but the ceiling is super high. Only 22 years old, though. Yes, I’m going to fall for the bananna in the tailpipe again.

Victor Oladipo:

Danilo Gallinari:

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

Played 32 minutes. Second game back after missing 18 games. The shooting has been bad, but that’s to be expected. The contributions in the periphery have been nice, though. Clippers have a shot for that final playoff spot, so I’d expect all hands on deck.

Tyrone Wallace:

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

Montrezl Harrell:

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
 19 3 2 0 0 0 1/1 9/12 0

Aaron Gordon:

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
 10 7 3 1 1 2 2/6 4/13 0

The Commissioner has been underwhelming, as injuries have taken a toll, but I still believe. May be tough sledding for the remainder of this season, but I’m very optimistic about his prospects for next year.

Jonathan Isaac:

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
 15 4 1 1 0 1 3/6 5/11 2/2

Played 20 minutes. Missed three games due to injury, so I’d expect the minutes to ramp up to the 26 minutes per game range soon. As long as he’s healthy, no reason for the Magic not to give him significant run to get experience.

Nikola Vucevic:

There was a stretch when he was getting 30 minutes a game and 15-17 shot attempts a game. Over the past few weeks, though, there have been 16 and 19 minutes games with 5 shot attempts in each. Big shout out to you Son, & all of the other writers on Razzball.

Best fantasy sight around hands down.

Few keys I’d like to point out here –

Guys I drafted that were barely any help in the fantasy post season.

    Cousins
    Wall
    Blake
    Love
    Gary Harris

How did I still win it all after drafting all of those injuries ?

Here’s some helpful tips for other readers if you want to be successful at this –

    1. Do not sleep. Ever. (get your rest on the off season)
    2. Do not let anyone else eat on the waiver wire. (vulture everything)
    3. Always go with your gut.
    4. Ignore family members & loved ones until after the season.
    5. Check updates 100 times daily.
    6. Ask questions on Razzball. (daily)
    7. Draft well.
    8. Do not get attached to any players.

Follow these steps next year guys & dividends will pay off.

    Thanks for everything Son!

    Peace

My H2H pts league has its playoffs during the NBA playoffs; you keep 3, have a 1 round draft and then an auction for who’s left–most pts at the end of the playoffs wins. I’m keeping Paul, Dray Green and probably Love and have the #1 draft pick. Would you go with Harden or Durant there? FWIW Harden’s outscored Durant by 1300 pts in only 5 more GP in our format this season, but basically the question boils down to who you’ve got in the WCF.

Would you play Gary Harris tonight over Trey Burke or maybe Patty Mills? Need 3s the most. Burke has kind of sputtered from long distance. Gary has also missed the last 11 tho and who knows what his minutes will look like.

@J: Really tough one. Burke has a phenomenal matchup and he’s getting the minutes. Harris also has a really good matchup as well and in a must win game, but he’s coming off injury. I’m going with Burke.

@Son: Yeah I suppose other potential drops would be patty mills, marshon brooks, allen crabee, but those guys all should be getting pretty hefty minutes. And Gary is a bit more risk than I think I need to take in the final few games here holding onto a 4 3pm lead in the finals.

@J: Why didn’t u say MarShon before??? I’m all about MarShon

@Son: I’m rocking with Marshon heavy right now. You think I should play Harris over him? That was a list of guys I could drop in order to activate and play Harris

@J: Ha! My bad. I must’ve misread the initial post. I would not play Harris over him

MarShon or Rubio tonight? Need ft%, 3s and rebs. Guess MarShon probably more likely to get healthy dose of minutes.

@J: Man, sorry for getting back to you so late and after lock. MarShon for me if that makes any difference
