Watching Chris Paul can be so fun. When he’s not catching spit followed by hooks from fellow old man Rondo, CP3 is hustling, using his old man tricks to take down young teams that dare challenge him. He’ll drive the lane, fake passes, shoot from 8 feet behind the line. He doesn’t care. Trying to keep the ship afloat without Harden is his responsibility and he’s gonna do it. Like the old curmudgeon in your neighborhood that refuses to offer candy to trick-or-treating kids, this grumpy old man will shoo you off his lawn and do what he wants.

We got classic, but still grumpy CP3 tonight! Paul had a sensational game, carrying the Rockets on his back and beating an up-and-coming Brooklyn team. It always amazes me how he gets so many rebounds for someone who looks to be 5’11 tops. Ride him while Harden is out, but if he keeps playing 37 minutes, expect some rest games soon.
Here’s what else happened last night:
FG | FT | 3PT | Points | Reb | Assists | Steals | Blocks | TO |
8/10 | 4/4 | 1/2 | 21 | 7 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Tobias is so good and efficient, as he did all of this damage in three quarters. As he has settled into LA, Harris has upped his scoring and rebounding, and I think it’s here to stay. Looks like turning down the Clippers extension to bet on himself will pay off after all.
Danilo Gallinari
FG | FT | 3PT | Points | Reb | Assists | Steals | Blocks | TO |
5/10 | 2/2 | 1/2 | 13 | 2 | 3 | 1 | 0 | 1 |
The Robin to Harris’ Batman, Gallo has an equally impressive season so far, averaging over 20 points. Again, with this game under control, he wasn’t needed for his usual load, playing only 23 minutes. He’ll put up juicier numbers next game, assuming it isn’t another blowout.
Montrezl Harrell
FG | FT | 3PT | Points | Reb | Assists | Steals | Blocks | TO |
4/8 | 2/4 | NA | 10 | 12 | 1 | 0 | 3 | 0 |
Harell looks good off the bench and seems to always be super active and making things happen. The three blocks were huge and a testament to his athleticism. He’s a solid 3rd center and his role in the rotation seems pretty set, regardless of who is starting.
Lou Williams
FG | FT | 3PT | Points | Reb | Assists | Steals | Blocks | TO |
7/13 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 28 | 3 | 3 | 1 | 0 | 2 |
SWEEEEEEEEEEEET LOU!!!!! This was a garbage-time special, but boy is he fun to watch when he gets these types of opportunities. Williams has managed to be productive this season even with all of the depth and the gradual rise of future star SGA. He’s solid and will continue to produce in points, 3’s, and be a powerful contributor in FT%.
Boban Marjonovic
FG | FT | 3PT | Points | Reb | Assists | Steals | Blocks | TO |
4/7 | 2/6 | NA | 10 | 11 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 2 |
The internet couldn’t contain it’s collective glee when LA announced that the Great Boban would be starting. He never plays big minutes, and didn’t tonight, though if the game were closer, he could have possibly gone for career highs. The giant is consistently extremely effective whenever he sees the court and he proved that true again last night. He’s such a fun personality and a great guy to cheer for. Overall, solid game, though those FT’s kind of sting.

The extreme ups and downs continue for Gordon, as he was rendered completely useless tonight. This was a disgusting game and effort that Gordon surely wants to put past him. He’s due for a bounce-back in the next game, but he just seems like he hasn’t put it all together. Don’t be surprised if his name starts to pop in trade rumors as the season progresses.

At some point, we need to stop pretending like Vuc isn’t one of the best fantasy centers in the league. He consistently puts up great statlines, producing in every category. His real-life effectiveness may not be quite as good, but he’s being slept on in fantasy circles and we should all recognize his incredible output. It will be a shame if he’s moved to a worse situation.
Evan Fournier
FG | FT | 3PT | Points | Reb | Assists | Steals | Blocks | TO |
7/12 | 4/6 | 1/2 | 19 | 3 | 4 | 3 | 0 | 4 |
The points, assists, and steals are all nice. The turnovers hurt if you care about that cat. This is such a Fournier line that I feel like most fantasy GMs would guess it within three tries. As the only consistent offensive threat in the backcourt, Fournier’s run of mid-round value will continue going strong.
DJ Augustin
FG | FT | 3PT | Points | Reb | Assists | Steals | Blocks | TO |
5/10 | 2/2 | 1/1 | 13 | 5 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Fournier’s backcourt mate and starter by default, Augustin continues his very low-end value, but hey, a starter is a starter. That’s good enough for deep leagues. Ride him for now, but once Orlando decides to start checking their young guys, Grant and Briscoe could start stealing minutes.

So not quite what I was hoping for. He’s a borderline hold in standard leagues mainly because of his blocks, which tonight, he had none. He did shoot three 3-pointers, but missed all of them. The potential is there and sometimes bubbles up, but there will be ho-hum games like this that will make you check to see who is on waivers. Unless someone blistering is on waivers, I would hold him as the last guy on your roster and give him some time.

Capela has been doing more or less what we expected: double-double + blocks with nice FG% and poor FT%. He did that tonight and looked explosive. The five assists were a nice extra and an evolving part of his game. If you’re punting FTs, he’s elite and getting a ton of minutes.

Gordo was killing it from the line tonight. He brought some backup firepower for CP3 to help get the Rockets over the hump and gain the victory. As usual, he didn’t do much else. While Harden is out, his scoring and 3’s are going to be there. Unfortunately for fantasy GMs, Harden should be back the next game.
Carmelo Anthony

Melo got his season-high tonight, as he was especially hot from 3, making six of them tonight. Besides an off game Tuesday, he has strung together some nice scoring performances and is starting to find his rhythm. If you need points, 3’s, and no defense, you could do worse on your team.
FG | FT | 3PT | Points | Reb | Assists | Steals | Blocks | TO |
10/17 | 5/7 | 4/6 | 29 | 4 | 2 | 3 | 1 | 1 |
OK, the argument is over. LeVert is the best player on this young Brooklyn team. He continued his streak of excellent games tonight in a losing effort with efficient scoring and added a nice three steals. He put Eric Gordon on skates on a nasty dribble drive to the hole.
D’Angelo Russell
FG | FT | 3PT | Points | Reb | Assists | Steals | Blocks | TO |
5/14 | 1/2 | 1/5 | 12 | 3 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 1 |
Make no mistake. CP3 lit him up tonight. That would explain Russell only playing 22 minutes. He keeps showing flashes that make you expect a breakout and then everything just falls flat. He might be a frustrating player to roster this season while he and the Nets try to figure out if he’s actually good and also how to utilize him.

The young big man tested his 3-point range tonight but came up short. Still, I like that he’s going for it, and Coach Atkinson is giving him the green light. I see him eventually starting to hit some as the season goes on. Allen is all upside but there might be a lot of these kinds of boring nights that you have to endure. By fantasy playoff time, he could be huuuge.

Dinwiddie got the minutes next to LeVert over DLo late in the game because his defense has been stronger. He’s a solid scorer that can chip in just enough counting stats that make him borderline rosterable in standard leagues.

It’s becoming difficult to justify rostering RHJ on your standard league teams. He’s still working his way back from injury, but with Dudley continuing to start, and young Euros waiting in the wings, his future is a little concerning. They are playing him some at small ball center, which helps, so he’s a hold…for now.

Westbrook and OKC completely dismantled Wall and the Wizards in a nationally televised blowout. Westbrook was his usual aggressive and explosive self, scoring efficiently and getting his team involved. The four steals led to a lot of breakaway dunks, including one that would have been a MONSTER if he hadn’t been fouled by Oubre. Westbrook is rolling.

PG13 had a bounce-back from the 3 point line, hitting 4-for-6, which was nice to see. The seven assists were a season high, and showed off his playmaking potential, though against a team in a complete meltdown. Many GMs have been disappointed by George so far this season, but he will start to round into form soon.

The Big New Zealander was efficient and effective in his time. The lack of boards were kind of disappointing, but he was dealing with some calf issues during the game. Add in the blowout nature for this game and it’s easy to see why he only played 23 minutes. He’ll get back to his regular numbers in the next one.

With plenty of garbage time to fill, the German sensation played well, getting to the rack and hitting some 3’s. Schroder also added some quality boards, assists, 3’s, and steals to round out a very nice all-around fantasy game. Schroder has been playing well lately and been putting up points the last three games. He’s solid for now.
Nerlens Noel

2/2 | 5/6 | NA | 9 | 7 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 0 |
Noel’s boards, steals, and blocks potential make him an enticing flier to roster in deeper leagues. With Adams dealing with some minor but nagging injuries, Noel’s role could maintain decent value and upside, but probably should be left on waivers in standard leagues.

Does Jerami Grant have a nickname yet? He’s fun to watch and all over the court hustling. Let me know in the comments if you have any good ones. Stretch seems appropriate yet boring. I’ll go with Odie for now, due to nothing more than my love for Garfield. Odie had a really nice game, getting a ton of looks under the basket, making 9-for-11 and getting a career-high 22 points. I would add him in standard leagues if there was dead weight on my bench.
John Wall
FG | FT | 3PT | Points | Reb | Assists | Steals | Blocks | TO |
8/13 | 1/2 | 2/5 | 19 | 2 | 9 | 1 | 0 | 7 |
Ooof. The seven turnovers do a good job illustrating what happened. Wall looked unengaged and was getting called out by the commentators for not putting in any effort or showing any urgency. DC is a mess right now and Wall is in the middle of it. Fortunately for fantasy GM’s Wall is still solid with his points, assists, steals, and boards.

Beal had an equally messy game as Wall, with five turnovers. There have to be some big changes coming in DC, whether its coach firings, trades, or benchings. Beal seems to be safe from a fantasy production aspect regardless of what happens.
Otto Porter
FG | FT | 3PT | Points | Reb | Assists | Steals | Blocks | TO |
4/6 | NA | 1/3 | 9 | 3 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 2 |
Oh Otto. What are we going to do with you? This time a season ago, Porter was lighting teams up with league-leading 3-point shooting. Now he just seems completely unengaged and uninvolved in the offense. GMs just have to hold and hope that coach Brooks finally realizes that he has to run plays for Porter and get him more involved. Those that picked him in the 3rd round…my condolences. He should eventually start producing, but this has been a very discouraging start. For other GM’s, it might be time to test the waters and see if you can buy super low.

This guy is out there jacking shots. He was one of the few Wizards that seemed to play wth some urgency and managed two blocks, which is a nice surprise. Going 0-for-6 on 3s sucks though. He really should be starting and bumping Markieff out. His scoring and boards (and usually his 3 pointers) make him a reasonable add in standard leagues.
Dwight Howard

The big man finally makes his Wizards debut after missing the first two weeks with a sore butt. He came out real hot in the first quarter and didn’t miss often. He was pretty atrocious on the defenisve side, basically letting OKC score at will in the paint. They showed him laying down instead of sitting on the bench due to his gluteal injuries. Again, this game was not close, so he only played 23 minutes. Expect more boards next game.

What is Kief even doing anymore? He just kind of exists on the court and helps guys get up when they fall. The Wiz should move him to the bench and fantasy GMs need to leave him on waivers.

Dipo hit his season-high in a great game in Chicago. It was good to see him hit all of this free throws after struggling in the early going. The 14 boards were huge and part of an awesome all-around game. He’s been playing well, but disappointing fantasy GMs with the FT% and regression in steals. The steals probably won’t go back to last year’s number, but the FT% should normalize soon. Buy low if you can.

Turner really needed a game like this. After disappointing fans and fantasy GMs last season, the 18-19 season has been up-and-down. The emergence of Sabonis has hurt his ceiling, but tonight he came out with six swats! He didn’t hit any 3s, but at least took three attempts. The boards are never great, but I expect more than three in a game when he’s on the court for 27 minutes. He’s slowly starting to realize his fantasy potential. Fantasy GMs need to just be patient.
Thad Young
FG | FT | 3PT | Points | Reb | Assists | Steals | Blocks | TO |
4/10 | NA | 0/1 | 8 | 9 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 |
Thad Young is borderline rosterable in standard leagues, but he doesn’t offer much upside. The game tonight showed the boring ok-ness that he can provide. He can rack up steals and boards on occasion, but depending on the depth of your league, he could be dropped for a red-hot guy on waivers that helps you in a needed cat.

Things haven’t quite worked out for Evans in Indiana. He’s starting to find his footing, but his upside will always be capped when Dipo is healthy. Still, this was a decent night and an improvement over what he’s been doing.

Sabonis had a quiet night in 21 minutes. The lack of boards is unusual, but the efficient free throw shooting is definitely helpful. He’s still a low end hold for teams that need rebounds.

6/15 | 1/1 | 1/6 | 14 | 4 | 4 | 2 | 0 | 2 |
Even though he hit the game winner, Collison played an inefficient 35 minutes on his way to 14 points, 4 boards, and 4 assists. Overall, these numbers are workable for fantasy teams and he can serve as a solid 3rd point guard.

Zach has been enjoying a great start to the season, but the 20 points he scored against Indiana matched his season low. He’s still the main guy in Chicago, but can have issues with efficiency and turnovers. He’s an obvious hold and really fun to watch as long as he stays healthy.

Jabari’s underachieving season continues. 5/12 is not going to help the Bulls or your fantasy team most nights. When Markkanen is ready to go, Parker is going to lose out. He’s done nothing with this opportunity and the signing is now looking like a really bad decision by the Bulls. Fantasy GMs should wait for a good game and then try to move him.

WCJ came out on fire tonight, but foul troubles held him back from bigger minutes and a bigger statline. It opened up time for Felicio and not Lopez, which shows that Chicago is all aboard the WCJ train. When he’s healthy and not in foul trouble, he should see as much time as he can handle. The points, boards, blocks, and even a few 3s will flow.

Blakeney was on fire tonight, scoring a career-high 22 points. He really only offers points and 3’s, but has forced his way into the rotation and could remain fringe valuable for the rest of the season. The former G-League beast has been a great story this season.

Not very efficient, but he scores, though this is lower than usual. The six rebounds and three 3-pointers are nice, but the lack of free throws shows that he wasn’t really working to get into the paint much. Besides this off night, THJ has been lighting up the scoreboard and serving as the main scoring option in NY. His role is rock solid and he should be good to go for scoring and 3’s all season long.
Enes Kanter
FG | FT | 3PT | Points | Reb | Assists | Steals | Blocks | TO |
5/7 | 3/4 | NA | 13 | 5 | 2 | 0 | 2 | 1 |
Since losing his starting spot, Kanter has experienced a swift decline in his production. Tonight he fared a little better and even played next to the newly crowned big man of the future, Mitchell Robinson. Still, 20 minute games are going to move him out of standard league relevance, if they haven’t already. A trade would probably do him some good at this point.

Well, that was quick. The project becomes the starter and is being talked about as part of the foundation of the team. He looked great and showed some diverse skills in getting 3 steals and 3 assists, while knocking in 75% of his free throws. He also caught an alley-oop for a nice reverse jam. There will be plenty of ups-and-downs, but Robinson is a definite must grab in standard leagues right now.

Everyone’s boyfriend, Luka Doncic once again showed out with 18/9/6 and 2 3’s. He looked good even if he didn’t get near the 31 points he scored last game. He’s a forever hold and one of the most fun players to roster.

This was kind of a weird line from DSJ, as he scored from the field efficiently, but went 5/10 from the line. He hit 2 3’s and scored 23 points. Other than that, the production was non-existent, besides the poor 6 turnovers. His assists were already not a strength, and now playing with Luka, they will be muted even more..

Whether it’s due to playing in Memphis or because of past injuries, Mike Conley is another player that does not get the love he deserves. He’s had a great start to the season with a nice all-around game. Fantasy GMs were scared off in drafts, but he’s making all of them regret their choices. His FG% could use some improving, but a top 40 season isn’t unreasonable.

JJJ hasn’t quite caught fire like I expected, mainly due to a high foul rate. Hopefully, he can quickly adjust and address this issue to stay on the court more. Still, you can see the potential oozing off of his forehead, netting a triple one. He’s still one of my darkhorse picks for rookie of the year. Buy low if a GM has been fed up with his fouling ways.

Old, reliable Joe Ingles is a nice producer for every stat category. 19 points are nice, even if it wasn’t Joe’s most efficient night. He also tends to get more assists. Either way, he’s a solid top 50 bet due to his multi-cat contributions.
Ricky Rubio
FG | FT | 3PT | Points | Reb | Assists | Steals | Blocks | TO |
9/17 | 1/2 | 3/7 | 22 | 2 | 11 | 1 | 0 | 4 |
This marks Rubio’s 2nd best game of the season. The fact that he did this with Mitchell out makes sense. Ricky tends to be a slow starter, so GMs shouldn’t overreact to his early games. This type of production can help ease their nerves. It might be a little up-and-down as Donovan should return soon, but hold Rubio and wait for him to heat up.
Jae Crowder

6/10 | 2/4 | 4/7 | 18 | 6 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 |
Crowder has been much more effective in Utah than I had expected. He seemed washed up, but has found new life. The efficient scoring and 3-point shooting was great tonight. He’s a solid, boring hold in standard leagues.

This guy is so good. Even when he scores less than 20, he offers production in every other category. Though he’s missed two games, he’s been paying off the bet that GMs took when they drafted him. When he’s on the court, he looks like a top 5 player. Its been reported he may have suffered a foot injury late in the game, so keep an eye on the situation.

This was a poor scoring outing for Lowry, but the 12 assists he dished out showed what his mindset was this game. He’s been surpassing his draft position so far and you just gotta ride the hot streak. He’s looked great.
Serge Ibaka

6/12 | 2/4 | 0/4 | 14 | 4 | 1 | 2 | 2 | 1 |
There was good and bad here. While he didn’t start, he managed 2 steals and 2 blocks. He also went 0-for-4 on 3’s. He’s been a nice surprise this season, as many had written him off. He should keep it rolling as long as he’s healthy.
Jonas Valancuinas

JV played well in a start with efficient scoring and 4 blocks. His role and minutes have been a little up-and-down while coach Nurse tries to figure things out. He’s one of those guys that never seems to get a fair shake since he’s been in the league. Hopefully, that changes in the near future. Consider buying low as he has top 60 upside. He just needs that consistent role and a few more minutes.

Booker had a decent return after missing the last three games with hamstring issues. He looked solid, but was inefficient. These numbers represent his floor and he should probably heat up in a hurry. If you roster him on your team, enjoy the ride.

Ayton continued his campaign for rookie of the year. 17 and 18 with 2 blocks is phenomenal. Congrats if you drafted him. The Suns are going to give him all of the minutes he can handle. Expect his shots to go up as the season progresses too. He’s already a potential top 30 player.
Isaiah Canaan

In a surprising move, Phoenix went back to Canaan to start at point guard, and he played well. He didn’t get any assists, or really any counting stats, but the hot scoring was nice. He’s not really an option in anything but very deep leagues.
Trevor Ariza

Yuck. 4/12 is something best forgotten. He should do a little better most nights, but probably isn’t worth rostering in most leagues.

Could the Butler effect be this strong? Following a very nice game against Utah, KAT underdelivered with a low-end double-double. These are still good stats, even if inefficient, but we all just expect more out of KAT. When all of the Jimmy news came out,Towns shot up draft boards and was frequently going #3. So far, that hasn’t worked out. He should bounce back but will surely be glad once Butler eventually gets moved.

Speaking of Butler, he didn’t have a great game either. It was ok, but we expect more out of Jimmy, especially on a nationally televised game against the defending champs. Overall, he’s been a top 15 player and rewarding GMs that took on that risk.

The analytics crowd’s favorite, Jones played ok. The shooting was off, but 9 assists and 2 steals represent his potential. Depending on the injuries to Rose and Teague, Jones could see the starting spot for a little while longer. If so, he’s worth picking up in all leagues, even if for just a few games.

Wiggins is working his way back from his thigh injury. He doesn’t do much besides score, but his role in the rotation is pretty set. If you drafted him, I guess you’re getting about what you expected.

For those not in the know, Okogie is an exciting young rookie that could possibly benefit if/when Jimmy gets moved. He’s looked very confident and has been delivering decent counting stats early in his career. He’s a high upside swing that could pay off. If he doesn’t then you can just as easily drop him.
Derrick Rose

The dream is over. After breaking twitter on Halloween, Rose left the game with a sore ankle. He only has low-end value in leagues, so if you want to not wait around, and just move on, go for it.
Steph Curry

Not his best shooting night, but he did Curry things. Sort of close to a triple-double, Curry is another one of those slight players that always seems to get more rebounds than I expect him to. He’s ridiculous and a top fantasy player so far. Enjoy.

Speaking of top fantasy player, Durant had another amazing outing. He makes it all look too easy. He slid in drafts to the back half of the first round and the GM’s that passed are kicking themselves. Don’t worry about rest games. Just enjoy the ridiculous, efficient performances.

Klay played well and did what he does, shoot with a perfect stroke, score and, hit 3’s. He tends to be overrated in fantasy due to the lack of counting stats, but underrated in the real life NBA.
