After an animal or person dies, the joints of the body stiffen. Did you know that death is the number one killer in this country? If you know what movie that’s from, then we are kindred spirits. Anyways, this stiffened state of the body is called rigor mortis, and lasts around three days. Last night, the Chicago Bulls were dealt a fatality by the New York Knicks, 105-98. A big reason why was due to the play of Bobby Portis, who put up a line of:
PTS | REB | AST | STL | BLK | TOV | 3PT | FG | FT |
28 | 11 | 2 | 0 | 2 | 0 | 4/4 | 10/14 | 4/5 |
Portis did this in 30 minutes off the bench and is responsible for the Bulls experiencing Rigor Portis. Good thing the effects last only three days because they play the Cavs in two days (a game they should win while deceased) and then the following game isn’t until Friday. Now, we often hear about the revenge narrative in sports. It’s mainly cockamamie, but if there’s one sport where it could be feasible, it’s basketball. Portis was drafted by the Bulls with the 22nd overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft. After four years with the team, he was traded to the Washington Wizards, then signed with the Knicks over the summer. So…..REVENGE! Ha! I kid, I kid. From a fantasy perspective, Portis can provide points, boards, and tres, but the minutes and production will be inconsistent.
Here’s what else I saw last night:

Everyone would be sliding into the DMs. The only thing he doesn’t do is stroke too many tres. Outside of that, the stocks are nice and he’s one of the better rebounding guards, which give him a relatively high floor.

I just wanna Tucker PJ on the lips, as he’s the #15 player on the season so far! Now, he always plays a shit ton of minutes and Harden and Westbrook take so much attention, so he’s going to get plenty of clean looks. He’s not going to shoot 60%+ every night, though. I’ve mentioned in the past that DLo is primarily a pick-and-roll player, while the Warriors offense is more predicated on motion and cutting. Kerr is a great coach, so he will figure it out, but it’s going to take time.

Jrue Holiday was out again, so it was the Ingram show. So far on the season, Ingram is garnering a 29 usage rate! He’s providing across the board production and even draining tres! He’s currently a top 10 player for fantasy, but he won’t end there, as he will cede usage when Holiday and Zion return. With that said, if he maintains the improvement in tres and blocks, he should finish within the top 100 for the first time in his career.

Dame, Shai, Brogdon, Satoransky, Tyus Jones, Reddish
Miles Bridges, PJ Washington, Paschall, Time Lord, Hachimura
Thomas Bryant, Richuan Holmes, Drummo, Mitchell Robinson
Any good trade packages for Conley? Thanks.
Value is in the eye of the beholder. You have to look at the Conley owner’s roster and figure out what he may need or be interested in. Then send out the emissaries to begin negotiations.
Hi Son, appreciate the work as always!
How would you rank the rest-of-season values of Bledsoe, Rozier and Conley? 8-team H2H league
My team is
Kemba, Fox, Bledsoe, Rozier
Bogdanovic, Oladipo (IL)
Tatum, Oubre, Barrett
Aldridge, Winslow
Towns, Gobert, Whiteside, Nurkic (IL)
Drop any of the non-IL players to pick up Conley? I’m already sort of PG-heavy (although production has been lacking with Fox and Bledsoe especially)
Conley, Bledsoe, Rozier. I’d drop Bogdanovic
Just a quick follow-up, I’m talking about Bojan Bogdanovic (Utah) – still drop him over Barrett/Winslow/Rozier? Also forgot: 9cat league.
Thanks for the input!
Yeah, that would still be my guy. Dimes are just such a valuable commodity, while tres can be found
Hi Son,
Following up with an update and 2 questions. I’ve got both OG and Issac but sat them out because they’re both non-1st or 2nd options playing good defenses. D’oh! NAW looked good running the offense, I really like his vision. Will hold onto him even if he rides the pine for a while. Payton not only got Fizdale’d, but as is the case every time I have him, got injured.
Questions:
1) I’m in a good place with %, points, and boards. Will have to probably punt assists. I’m also doing well with steals an blocks, but the gap is closing in. Thinking about playing some more multicat players (OG, Issac) instead of points/board guys (Jamal Murray, Lauri, Sabonis) to buff up those stock margins. Is it too early in the season to do so? Should I just do it once every two weeks? What’s the best way to do this?
2) With Elfriid getting both injured and Fizdale’d, I’m on the market for another player. Wouldn’t mind someone who brings steals/blocks, but mostly looking for consistency (unless their inconsistency is worth it). Don’t mind a short-term option, but I’ve got more players than starts available, so fine with grabbing someone I can use later in the year. Deciding between:
Holmes
Kaminsky
Schroder
Jerami Grant
Wood
Zach Collins
Hold Elfriid
Collins would be a safe choice. Wood would be the overthinking choice. Schroder would drive me nuts with doing well when I sit him, giving me 4/15 and 6TOs when I play him. Love Elfriid but burned by him too many times over the years…but maybe this 4th time is the charm.
Weekly league? What’s context of league? H2H or roto? How many teams? Without knowing your roster, I’d always at least play one of OG or Isaac. You drafted them for the D. As for when to do it, I always look at games played for each player. Then I look at the roster of my opponent if it’s h2h. Then matchups, etc….You have OG and Isaac, so not sure why you’d want to look for a steals/blocks guy since you have them already on your roster. As for who to grab from your list, what’s your roster look like and provide all the context listed above.
Sorry Son, here’s the context:
Keeper Roto League, 8 teams but 21 players on each team, so pretty deep.
Early going, but I’m in or near the lead in most categories other than AST and TOs because most of my guards are young. But I think I’m vulnerable in stocks there’s been some overperformance on my part, some underperformance by last year’s 1-2 team owners.
Team:
Doncic, Nunn, SGA, Murray, Morant, Herro, NAW, Garland, Dipo, Elfriid
Ingram, Issac, OG, Tatum, Siakam, Richardson
KAT, Porzingis, Turner, Sabonis, Carter Jr., Markkanen
There’s been a games cap(16 slots x82 games). Been sitting Herro, NAW, Garland, selectively playing Nunn, Morant, Ingram, OG, WCJ based on matchups.
Would appreciate any suggestions on whom to pick up for Efriid from the above list. I’ll have to start cycling OG and Issac back in, but have been waiting for them to prove themselves offensively before doing so; last night definitely confirmed it.
Thanks!
Gotcha. I’m not an Elf guy and we never know what Fizdale is going to do. Out of the players you mentioned, I’d go with Schroder. He’s locked into minutes and there’s upside if CP3 gets traded
Thanks Son!
Anytime
AYYO!
Dumped Grant for Holmes this morning. Screw it.
We did away with our transaction fees in my league this year, & upped the buy in.
So I have no problem pulling triggers. As many as it takes.
My main focus is building up my front court with at least 5 startable bigs.
This is a deep 12 teamer.
FA bigs – Zubac (just got dropped) Collins, Wood, Poeltl, Spellman, Looney, McGee
You see anything I should grab there ?
Jrue/Conley/Lowry/Rozier
Oubre/Levert/Herro/Hunter/Tucker/Danny Green
Jokic/Vucevic/Bryant/Baynes/Holmes
I have no ties to Baynes/Holmes/Hunter/Tucker/Green – All can go at the drop of a dime.
(Also Fultz is available)
Thanks for any words my dude!
I’m good with the move. Squad looks good, but I’d look to scoop up Looney soon
Hey Son,
Thanks for the recap!! It’s most excellent.
1) How are we feeling about Robinson (NYK)? Just waiting for his ankle to improve?
2) More importantly, 12 team Yahoo h2h, standard 9 cats. You ID’ed 3 pointers as a weakness.
Got Fultz and Baynes rostered. White is available (for now).
I could stream one spot and hold one of the three, or just hold two. How are you leaning?
Thanks!!
Thanks, Jake!
1) Yes. He is who he is. Will get you blocks but he still fouls too much.
2) Fultz and Baynes
Nice! Thanks Son!
Would be nice to see Fultz resurrect his game in Orlando!
Anytime!
I’d like to see Fultz rise from the ashes as well
Is Collins droppable in a 12 team league? Would be adding Bjelica for the short term
I’d wait until more information comes out
Hey, man liked post as always. Need ur opinion on smth. Thinking of upgrading my team bench. Need a big with good rebounding and percentages and guard with good all around.
Droppable players: dwright, jeremi grant and pj was.
Ww:
G: hart, isiah t, schroder, fultz
F/C: hachimura, nance, wood, gasol, olynik
H2h, 10t, 9cat, punting points and 3pm
Thanks in advance
Forgot to mention marc Gasol is also in ww
Who?
Just playing. I have no interest in Gasol
Much appreciated!
Out of the guards, I think Fultz has the most upside. Hart is the most well-rounded, but will cede minutes when the Pelicans get healthy. IT is for points and dimes. Schroder probably has the highest floor. That feels weird writing, but the minutes will be there. He’s just so inconsistent. Depends on how you want to approach things.
Hachimura for me
Hm, I also cant decide between IT, Schroder and Fultz particularly for next week. Especially i need dimes and d-stats. Who would u take for next week according to matchups?
If it’s just for the short term, then Schroder. For the long term, then Fultz
Thanks :))
Anytime
Hi son,
I’m 10 team h2h league and dropped Powell on first week when he got injured. Most members value counting stats and he’s not being looked up and still sitting in FA now.
I took Cody zeller as his replacement and has been a delight. If he keeps this up, then he’d be a steal but I’m worried about injury since he have a history. Should I replace him with Powell or ride zeller while he’s hot?
Ride Zeller. If/when he gets hurt, then evaluate
Thanks Son. If Gallo can play without getting injured like he did last year then maybe zeller can as well.
Ha! Anything is possible
Yeah!! I’m also keeping my eye on Holmes as big man replacement. Chances is he could be the next robmitch lol.
Should I drop Sato for Schroder as I am running out of patience and I think Schroder run is sustainable with his role now?
I’d rather have Sato but understand going with Schroder…and don’t hate it
This team is looking for a PG, what can i offer him to help my team:
Team looking for a PG:
PG: Fultz/Brunson/Irving
SG:Booker/Bogdanovic/Fournier/Batum
SF:Leonard/Ingram/Richardson/Tatum/
PF:Carter Jr/PJ Washington/Portis/Isaac/Melli
C:Robinson/McGee/J Allen/Cousins
My team:
PG: Fox/Ball/Shai/Rozier/Aaron Holiday
SG: Harden/Lamb/hardaway
SF: Antetokounmpo/Hayward/Winde/Oubre/crowder
PF: JJJ/Nance/ Fernando/Gafford
C: Jokic/Sabonis/Poeltl/Goga
I’d see what the prices on Ingram, Richardson, and Isaac are
One more question:
Trade Sabonis FOR Wiggins and a 2020 3rd rd pick?
Negative
Team in a 12-team, h2h, 9-cat keeper
Ball, Lowry, Rubio, G.Harris, J-Rich, Beal, Porter, Gallo, Harrell, Gobert, Vala
I’m not ready to drop Porter or G.Harris yet, even with slow starts, but which of the following guys should I most have on my radar as potential replacements, and how much rope should I give Porter and G.Harris?
Interesting FAs: D.Rose, IT2, Graham, Hart, Kennard, Matthews, Hunter, Barton, Zeller, Holmes, TT, Wood (Note: any of these guys can be kept next year at an 11th round price.)
Oh. Anunoby also a FA.
Lay out the vision first. Then you will have direction as to which player to pursue
I’d be patient with Otto as well. Harris, not so much, but I do like him.
As for FAs, it really depends on what you want. For points, DRose. For tres, Matthews. Rebounds, TT. I like Zeller. Holmes has upside if he starts. Hunter is 3-and-D. Narrow down your focus first
How much more leash do you see yourself giving Satoransky?
Make any swaps? Looking for best overall players
Possible Drops: Satoransky, Mehrisson Barnes, Poetl, Fultz, IT
Possible Adds: Shamet, Portis, Bjelica, Hill, Kenrich
I’m being patient with Sato. The minutes have slowly tilted in his favor, and he’s the best guard to run that offense.
You know what I think about Mehrisson. I’d be interested in Bjelica out of that group for the short term. Now that I think about it, I probalby drop Poeltl out of that group.
Looking to target SGA. Is offering FVV and Horford too much? Can FVV sustain high value ROS? Thanks.
I think FVV will be good this season. As for the trade scenario, it depends on the other owner. What’s his squad look like and how does he value certain players?
Since he’s high on SGA, I’m trying to sweeten the offer by including Horford. He definitely needs depth and some forwards. Would I be giving up too much for SGA? I’m targeting him because I love his %s. I have a feeling FVV might be a FG% killer all year.
Agree with you on FVV, and I love SGA as well.
What’s the rest of your squad look like?
Hey man. Looking to trade a big for a guard. Which side would you prefer? H2H points.
Tobias Harris OR Draymond vs. De’Aaron Fox?
Tobias Harris OR Draymond vs. Donovan Mitchell?
Tobias Harris OR Draymond vs. Demar DeRozan?
Thanks!
Tobias for….the guards are so close. I’d probably go with DeMar
Looking to target SGA. Thoughts on offering FVV and Horford? Too much? How high are you on them?
12 team 9 catg, nance jr for Otto porter.
Sure
So we’re getting Powell back tonight! Problem is I need to drop either Collins, PJ, Taurean, or Lamb. Taurean stands out I guess, i just love Brooklyns fantasy situation and the fact that he has such clear role carved out. I think he finishes top 80
Agreed that Prince is the guy. Not sure if finished top 80, but if you believe that, then go with your gut
Dropped Prince, yeah you’re probably right. Plus side is he’s might not get picked up and I could get him back when I have room.
When you and others do rankings for roto, how is it done. Like is a steal or block worth more than a points, boards? Probably a dumb question but I don’t know a ton about roto. Just have played in points leagues.
I go through my process in the Top 10. Basically project the stats for each category, then see where they compare to other players
Sort of different reading these now that you are my blood rival.
Still enjoyable though! And yes, i get your film reference, Doctor.
Sorry Sato is startin’ stinky. I thought he was a great add in RDA.
Ha! It’s a Civil War!!!!
With that said, you are a man of extraordinary magnitude so it’s all good.
I loved Sato coming into the season. Maybe I let my love for the volleyball Satos to taint my perspective. It’s still early, though, and I still have optimism.
I understand. I have Mikal in two (non RDA) leagues cause i love him, already dropped Culver who i loved. First weeks are hard…dont want to lose out as other valuable players get dropped and dont also dont want to drop guys prematurely.
At least in RDA with a guy like Sato you know you gotta wait it out and see how things go.
Ha! In the RDA, there is no choice!!! You truly reap what you sow.
Mikal is tough to hold right now. Coach hates him for some reason.
Hey Son,
I got offered conley for my rozier. accept or naw ?? h2h, 9cat, 14 team
