There was a time when Channing Tatum was an international sensation, as he starred in blockbusters such as Step Up, G. I. Joe, 21 Jump Street, White House Down, and the Lego Movie. Ok, maybe some hyperbole but 43 movies are 43 movies. Don’t forget about the TV shows, video games, music videos, Saturday Night Live, and MTV Awards. Times started getting lean around 2014, though. The Google queries declined. The downloading of pics ceased. But then his phone began beeping incessantly in 2017, as he set up notifications whenever anyone Googled his name. He was back! Beep. Boop. Bop. You know what never leaves? The Stocktonator. Life was good again. Unfortunately, the queries all consisted of, “Is Jayson Tatum related to Channing Tatum?” Whatever, he took whatever he could get. Jayson Tatum was drafted by the Boston Celtics with the third overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. He was a sensation his rookie year, to the point where some were saying that they wouldn’t trade him for Anthony Davis. Crazy. Anyways, the sophomore slump came and so did Channing’s pain, as his phone stopped buzzing. But here we are in 2019, as Channing’s phone has been off the hook, as his brother-from-another- mother has been balling out this season. Last night, he…..

His rookie year, Tatum ended as the 63rd player for fantasy. The following year, he finished as the 59th player. So far this season, he’s the 33rd player. Over the past six games, Tatum has been a top 10 player!!! The points, tres, boards, dimes, and steals have all increased. The shooting efficiency has declined, which sucks because the volume has increased, but that’s been the only blemish. The usage rate is 28 on the season, but it’s ticked up to over 32 at times. People are going to be Googling Tatum’s name for a long, long time. That makes Channing very happy.

Here’s what else I saw last night:

Paul George

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
36 9 5 2 1 3 7/16 10/26 9/11

George was curiously boo’d in his return to Indianapolis. Ha! Yeah right. The fans were well within their right to show their displeasure for the player who did not want to re-sign with the home squad back in 2016. Conversely, George was well within his right to play where he wanted to. Last night, the home crowd made the walk of shame voiceless and winless due to the play of George. Kawhi Leonard did not play, so the PG show was center stage.

Patrick Beverley

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
11 12 5 3 0 3 1/2 5/7 0

Beverley has scored 20 points only once this season, and failed to reach double-digits in 16 games, so points are not his thing. He’s all about the boards (6.4) and steals (1.5). He’s a PB without the J. Ha! That worked out well. Anyways, he’s shooting 39% from the field and 60% from the line.

Montrezl Harrell

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
26 8 1 0 1 1 0 12/22 2/5

Harrell is a points, boards, and field goal percentage player. He does provide some blocks, but not much else, though, and the free throw shooting is poor.

Domantas Sabonis

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
18 22 4 1 1 1 0/2 7/18 4/6

Sabonis is tied for second in all of basketball for dub-dubs. He has 19, while the leader, Giannis Antetokoumpo has 21. Arvydas is strutting the streets of Malaga like a rooster crowing, “That’s my boy!”

Doug McDermott

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

Played 30 minutes off the bench. McBuckets is back! Only for a limited time though. What exactly does that mean? Corporate doesn’t know. Dougie himself doesn’t know. Nobody knows. Just supersize the meal and enjoy for however long it lasts. He’s been a top 90 player over the past four games. When normalcy returns to the streets, you can expect top 300-ish production. yippee…..Strictly a tres specialist.

Kevin Love

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

Played 27 minutes. Ouch….Love hurts.

He’s played 19 games and averaged 30.2 minutes on the season. Over the past five games, though, he’s averaged 24.7 minutes and been a top 250 player for fantasy. There is light at the end of the tunnel, though, as he will likely get traded to a contender.

Tristan Thompson

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
17 11 1 1 0 5 0 8/11 1/7

Got back on the dub-dub train after falling off the wagon the prior two games. He’s got 13 dub-dubs on the season. TT is a points, boards, and field goal percentage guy. He does also chip in a healthy amount of steals and blocks. The free throw shooting is absolutely atrocious, though.

Jordan Clarkson

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
19 3 3 1 0 3 3/8 7/14 2/2

Gordon Hayward

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
14 5 4 1 0 2 0/2 7/10 0

Returned from injury and played 26 minutes. Good to have him back. He was playing at a top 30 level before the injury.

Danilo Gallinari did not play due to a sprained ankle. Terrance Ferguson did not play due to a hip injury. As a result, Abdel Nader and Darius Bazley received starts and played 28 and 26 minutes respectively. Nader provided 10 points, 3 boards, 1 dimes, 2 steals, and 1 block. Not bad. Bazley contributed 2 points, 7 boards, and 1 block. Bleh. Since neither Nader or Bazley received a stat box, you know what that means.

Steven Adams

Top 15 player over the past seven games! I had him six feet under and was about to shovel the dirt all over his coffin. But then….

Adams will provide points, boards, blocks and excellent field goal percentage. The dimes at close to 3 per game has been a nice surprise. Free throw shooting remains awful, although, he’s been converting at a 75% clip during his recent heater.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
20 6 3 2 0 1 2/5 7/20 4/6

Shai is so Gilgeous to me, but then I look at his stats. Top 100-ish production. The shooting efficiency is poor, the blocks are low, and the dimes….Well, Adams is averaging more dimes than him. With that said, I believe in Shai and think he continues to improve as the season progresses. In addition, there’s a good chance that many of the current starters on the Thunder get traded at some point, opening up more usage.

Stand up. Take off your caps. Pay your respects.

The blocks have decreased from last season, though. Currently, he’s averaging 1.8 per game. In four of the last five season, Gobert averaged at least 2.3 per game. As a result, he’s a top 50 player, instead of a top 20 one.

Donovan Mitchell

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
26 6 3 0 0 3 1/8 10/25 5/5

With Mike Conley out due to injury, the usage rate has increased from 31 to a tick under 36! Unfortunately, with great power comes great responsibility, and Mitchell has almost doubled the turnover rate. No bueno. The defensive stats haven’t been there recently as well. Not to worry, though. The rest of the counting stats have been muy fantastico.

Andrew Wiggins

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
23 4 4 0 2 1 1/5 8/18 6/7

He is who we thought he is? Since Jeff Teague moved to the bench and Wiggins became the defacto point guard, the shooting percentage has decreased to 40%. He had been shooting above 45% earlier in the season. The turnovers have increased slightly as well. It could mean something. It could mean nothing. At least the cost to acquire Wiggins was palatable this season.

In 32 minutes off the bench. The playing time has increased to around 25 minutes per game recently. The defensive stats have been there but the offensive game has peeked out from the shadows. With that said, he’s been shooting close to 70% from the field, so don’t expect the heater to continue. I’m curious to see how much run Bridges gets when Ayton returns. My guess is back to around 20, but we shall see.

Marc Gasol

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

Played 29 minutes. The usage rate is 12! For most of his career, that number was in the low to mid 20s. For the season, he’s a top 150 guy, but over the past seven games, he’s been approaching top 50 value, primarily because of the blocks. He’s been swatting 2 per game. Tough to hold but maybe too good to drop. Argh.

In 19 minutes off the bench. Oh, how I miss Iblocka. Anyways, Ibaka provides points and boards, but not too much else. An occasional tres here and there. The minutes have been an issue, as he’s only averaging 21 minutes per game. Tough to trust for fantasy.

Zach LaVine

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

These are the lines, in conjunction with slam dunk highlights, that get us mental masturbating over the possibilities. LaVine has this kind of ceiling. Unfortunatley, he’s inconsistent and the shooting efficiency is often poor. The usage rate is over 30, though, and he’s increased the tres to 3 per game. 4.5 boards and 4 dimes with 1.2 steals is pretty, pretty nice. With that said, he’s a top 70 player for fantasy.

The shooting efficiency has been poor at 42%, though. Regardless, he’s finally getting the run, which is half the battle. Yo, Joe! I sense that Sato will be messing around soon.

Daniel Gafford

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

Played 20 minutes off the bench, tying a season high. Wendell Carter Jr. fouled out, so elevated run for Gafford. He’s a defensive specialist, but won’t get consistent minutes to be relied upon. The future looks bright, though.

Denzel Valentine

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

With that said, Valentine has scored in double figures in three straight games. Chandler Hutchinson has been out and the team could be showcasing him for a trade. Whatever the reason, Valentine may have carved out a role….for now.

We know that Lake will not block any shots, but it’s a problem when he doesn’t contribute in any category. He’s outside the top 200 right now and is shooting sub-40% from the field. He’s going to get better, but I doubt he sniffs the top 65 level he finished at last season.

Derrick Rose

Aaron Gordon

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

Played 38 minutes! It’s a shame Gordon is so inconsistent. He has the ability to shoot over 50% from the field. Unfortunately, sub-40% is also in the range of outcomes. He has the ability to provide across-the-board production like last night, but often the cupboard is barren. Such a frustrating player because the physical tools and potential are immense.
