Entering last night’s game, Giannis Antetokounmpo was 131st on Yahoo rankings, mainly due to the high turnovers, low free throw percentage, and lack of threeecolas. Well, Giannis said F U to all the rankings and went HAM last night:

Granted, it was the Knicks but I don’t see many teams being able to slow him down, especially in this Budenholzer offense. He’s averaging a ridonkulous 16.5 rebounds, 25.5 points, 6.4 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal so far. The usage rates for each game have been 41, 38, and 37! The lack of threeecolas have always been an issue, and I don’t see that improving too much this year. The poor free throw shooting should improve, as he’s a career 74% from the charity stripe, and the turnovers should abate by a huge margin. Currently, he’s at 7 per game, while his career rate is 2.5. Ain’t nothing but a G thang, baby! G will be that top 10 player you drafted sooner rather than later.
Here’s what else I saw last night:

Played 25 minutes off the bench. Nice to see contributions in the periphery cats, but the shooting efficiency continues to be an issue. He’s a nice guy to have at the end of the bench because he’s going to jack up plenty of shots, plays in a fantasy-friendly environment, and there’s serious upside if he gets more minutes.

Pay heed to the Stocktonator. Anyways, Lowry is playing so well right now; shooting, defense, and getting his teammates involved. And there’s the added usage boost when Kawhi sits. Hopefully he stays healthy.

Can’t argue the contributions across the board, even providing the D. You’ll take the high turnovers if he can maintain this level. I Hart Josh. Played 39 minutes even though he came off the bench. Dude is so solid, as he contributes across the board. A good real life and fantasy player.
Great write up! These help me a ton being new to basketball this year. In a 10 team, 15 man roster with no IR do I hang on to Barton and just deal with only 4 on my bench till hes back? Seems like the best play maybe with waiver wire not having a whole lot to offer.
In a 10-team with no IR, I wouldn’t stash him
Isaac is still on a minute restriction from ankle, so zero concern here
My compadre from across the pond! When Craig speaks, we should listen. EF Craig!
Ayyyyy-T-o-N!
Good Morning Son Shine!
Taking in your column as I sip my dark roast coffee on this chilly start to my day.
Good stuff!
Dropped Hill last night for Crowder just to see if he had another good game. And he did..
Which causes a small dilema on my end now.
Need to scoop up Harrison Barnes off the wire & I do not know who to drop now.
Keep in mind I have an agreement to trade Barnes for Bamba.
After seeing Bamba last night Vs Boston, I was pretty dissapointed… & 2nd guessing.
Should I still do that flip Barnes for Bamba & who do I drop for Barnes/Bamba ?
Would say out of – Crowder / Willy / Burke
Please keep in mind in this league, Bigs/Centers are at a premium, as we play with 13 cats,
3 cats are for boards -Offensive/Defensive/Total boards. Need a stable of bigs for success.
Squad now –
Dunn/Russell/Tyreke/Levert/Burke
P. George/Tobias/Prince/Saric/Osman/Crowder
Embiid/Ayton/Gibson/Willy
Thanks man!
Ayyyyyy-oooooooooo!!!!!
Ha! Sup Mr. Blast! Thanks my man.
Drop Crowder and do not renege on your deal. That’s bad business.
@Son: I have many SFs (Baze, Prince, Osman, LeVert and Barnes). His stats are mainly points and %s with a bit of rebounds so I have been trying to ship him but due to the injury nobody agreed.
Expecting good stuff from Barnes? Having those SFs, I could try to trade him, or you would rather keep him?
Cheers and congrats for your page!
@Taurean: Barnes is fine, but I have no issue with you wanting to trade him
10 team head-to-head redraft
Need to drop one
Danny green, jae Crowder, Jalen brown , Hollis-jefferson, or Josh Jackson
I guess Josh Jackson
Need 3,s and boards
Stick with Reddick or drop for Hart or Isaac?
Hart
Been picking up and dropping a bunch of SFs, and am already driving myself crazy. Any of the following heads and shoulders above the others, or does it depend on needs/matchups?
Joe Harris
Rudy Gay
TJ Warren
Cedi Osman
Danny Green
Gay and Osman
Would you trade De’Aron Fox for Kyle Kuzma in a Keeper League?
Depends on your team
@Son:
PG: Curry/Fox/Shai/Rozier
SG: Harden (PG Eligible)/Hardaway/Lamb/Wade
SF: Gianis/Hayward/McGrueder/Finney-Smith
PF: JJJ/Sabonis/Anderson/Barnes
C: WCS/Valenciunas/Len
@jeffrey acevedo: Sure
hey man, stuck in a bit of a debate here – the more I look at my team, the more I think I should just pull off a punt-FG% strategy. the only real thing keeping me competitive in it is Jokic, and I lost my first week by lou will’s 3/16 showing Sunday night….
10 team, unlimited daily moves:
PG: Mike Conley
SG: Oladipo
G: Josh Hart
SF: Otto Porter Jr.
PF: Kevin Love
F: Mirotic
C: Jokic
UTIL: Jonathan Isaac
UTIL: Lou Will
UTIL: JJ Redick
BN: Trey Young
BN: Lamb
BN: Mack
INJ: Barton
Kind of thinking of offering a Jokic for other first-rounders move, maybe picking up an upside second piece? Another team has McCollum and Dray Green who I may send an offer to – but don’t want to bail them out..
Anyways, on to streamers! Do you think Monk is a hold in a league like this, or should I be streaming his spot on nights off? I plan on streaming Lamb’s spot for sure, but unsure if Monk should be a hold. I’d be willing to stream Lou’s spot too.. but that’s just after the night he gave me. Hart is a hold as well, I believe?
Thanks again!
@Wutang: I’m keeping Jokic. Hart is a hold. So is Lou. Why not use Mack’s appt to stream?
@Son: it’s supposed to be monk, not mack… my bad.
I love Jokic, but his FG% isn’t helping me to win the week when i have other players putting up volume shots. Was just thinking it could be an opportunity to sell at a players peak value
@Wutang: Ha! Makes more sense. I was wondering why you liked Mack so much. I would build around Jokic, not the other way around
Should I drop Markieff, Len, or Malik Monk for TJ Warren? I’m trying to make up for the loss of Will Barton. It’s a 10 team 10 cat league (with Minutes Played as a the 10th cat). Team below:
PG: Olapido
PG: McCullom
SG: Batum
SG: Fournier
SF: A. Gordon
SF: Mirotic
PF: Jokic
PF: Draymond
C: Nurkic
C: Cauley-Stein
UT: Len
UT: Schroeder
Bench: Portis, Mark Morris, Monk, Hezonja,
IR: Derrick White, Barton
@Nurk Diggler: Naw
I wouldn’t put it past it for Orlando to let Fournier be their main distributor. He’s not going to get double digit dimes on the reg, but he may surprise. Who else does that franchise have? Anywho.
I don’t know whether I have any moves to make, except on whether to be patient with Carter Jr. He’d cost me a 5th round pick to keep next year, so he’s not likely to be a keeper unless he lives up to all that potential sooner rather than later this season. Options available as a replacement (i.e. on the wire) are:
Bjelica, Bojan B., Gibson, Harrell, Hart, Hezonja, Len, Matthews, McGruder.
I’m leaning towards Hart. He’s outplaying KCP, getting minutes, and putting up numbers across the board. It would leave me a glut at SG/SF, and only four bigs (Gallo and Osman are SF/PF; Horford and Randle are PF/C), but maybe this is a case of grab the talent and figure out the rest later? I’d love your thoughts on whether I should drop Carter Jr. for Hart, drop someone else, and how much of my FAAB to bid. We get $100 a year and I’m down to $95.
Team in a h2h, 9-cat keeper yahoo league
Carter Jr., Conley, CP3, Fournier, Gallo, Horford, J-Rich, Kawhi, LeVert, Osman, Randle
@Jose Baloncesto: Your Fournier take does make sense. Early last season, he was initiating much of the offense and handling PnR action a lot. Went away from it later. But they got the DJ!!!
I heart Hart. I do like WCJ but he’s a rook and will take time. If you’re not planning on keeping him, then I’d grab Hart and figure out the rest later.
@Son: Yeah, the only way I’d keep him is if he becomes a truly, start worthy center. He might. Or he may take another year or two. But while his boards are good, his blocks and points are not, and Markkanen isn’t even back. So Hart may be the better investment to produce value, and IF i manage to scoop him up, I could keep him for and 11th or 10th round pick next year.
Thoughts on how much to spend on him of my $95? I don’t like spending more than I have to, because it’s early, and later in the season when guys get injured (and into playoffs) you don’t want to be the small pot at the table, but neither do I want to lose out on him if I can avoid it.
I love Hart so I’m good with the move. As for how much to spend, that’s a tough one because I don’t know your league and owner history. I’d look at bidding for past players and see if you can unearth any clues. I wouldn’t go all-in because we are 4 games into the season
Whattup Son. Thanks for the good read. Damn its good to have hoops back. My team:
Teague
P. George
G. Harris
Barton
Alridge
Embiid
Brolo
D’aron Fox
Hart
LaVert
Danny Green
Jae Crowder
Willy Hernangomez
Miles Bridges
IL: Boogie
Are you holding Hernangomez/Bridges at this point for upside? Neither is getting a ton of run but i hesitate to drop…
Would you drop either of them or Crowder/Green for any of the following:
Burke/Aminu/Stauskas/Schroder/J Jackson/VanVleet/McGruder…?
Thanks holmes!
@Court Vision: It is good to have hoops back for sure!
I think you’re fine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1NupxasQWs
@Son: Lol. Epic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htgr3pvBr-I
@Court Vision: Ha! Nice
Happy Slap your annoying coworker day!
Need trade advice. Keeper league, keeping 4 next year. I have 5 probable keepers to choose from: Giannis, Ben Simmons, Embiid, Doncic and Porzingis.
Suddenly, team holding AD decided to rebuild and looking to add youth and/or picks. I’m thinking of sending Doncic and Porzingis plus one of my 1st round picks (I have 2) for AD. Good idea or hold (see post above)
@IntendedSteb: Ha! Is that really a thing?
DO IT!!!!
@Son: really a thing https://nationaltoday.com/slap-your-annoying-coworker-day/
Twist on trade, dude wants both of my 1st round picks. Still a go?
@IntendedSteb: Wow. That would be the only reason why I’d want to work in an office again with coworkers.
Where are those picks projected to be? What’s the rest of roster?
@Son: My roster right now:
Luka Doncic Dal – PG,SG,SF
J.J. Barea Dal – PG,SG
Ben Simmons Phi – PG
Delon Wright Tor – PG,SG
Wayne Ellington Mia – SG,SF
Clint Capela Hou – PF,C
Giannis Antetokounmpo Mil – SF,PF
Joel Embiid Phi – PF,C
DeAndre Jordan Dal – C
Enes Kanter NY – C
Robert Covington Phi – SF,PF
Dewayne Dedmon Atl – C
Marcus Smart Bos – PG,SG
Reggie Bullock Det – SG,SF
Elfrid Payton NO – PG
Frank Ntilikina NY – PG,SG
IR:
Will Barton Den – SG,SF
Kristaps Porzingis NY – PF,C
Keeping 4 in 2019, 5 in 2020, etc. So 1st rounder is essentially your next year keeper. Right now one of my picks is projected to be in the top 3 (team that traded it to me is in the tank mode,) the other depends in how well I do this year.
@IntendedSteb: So, you’d keep Simmons, G, Embiid, and AD if you make the trade. Holy shit balls! That top 3 pick is very valuable so I’d try to hang onto that one. I’m not opposed to giving up both picks, but try and hold out for giving up the other 1st or ask for another player to help you this season.
Len or Harrell ROS for h2h 9cat?
Harrell
hey son.
so i wanted Draymond Green. I offered the guy Drummond. He shot back an offer where he added a demand for Elfrid Payton in exchange for Collison as well as the green/drummond exchange. What do you think. I really like Payton’s start, I know Collison has a solid history though. The Drummond/Green exchange seems like a wash, only I kind of need some assists.
In a different league, here’s the squad:
1. (5) Stephen Curry PG,SG
2. (20) Rudy Gobert C
3. (29) Kevin Love PF,C (traded for Paul George this week)
5. (53) Robert Covington SF,PF
6. (68) Kyle Anderson SG,SF
8. (92) Thaddeus Young SF,PF
10. (116) Taj Gibson PF,C
+ Otto Porter + Larry Nance + Jae Crowder + Jeremy Lamb + Frank Ntlikina
I just pulled off trading KLove for Paul George… I’m aiming for a punt Assists/Points squad with this team.
I’m feeling the need to reach out for a blocks or 3’s specialist, what do you think? I want to drop Frank but that’ll leave me with ONE PG on the damn roster (steph). I’m forward-rich as hell after the PG13 trade.
@Big-D: I’m not a Collison guy.
Which PGs are available on the wire? Who needs a F? 🙂
@Son: would I be dumb to add another SG/SF or a C to this team instead of a PG?
@BigD: Let your strategy guide you
@Son: what do you think about moving Josh Hart + Thaddeus Young for Draymond Green on this team? (forgot to list Hart before)
@big-D: All day everyday
Am I stupid if I drop SGA for Slo-mo??
@I just wanna Kawhi: I have no idea what they are doing with Slo Mo. I like SGA
Hi son,
What are your thoughts on collins delayed return? You think he’ll be back in 2 or 3 weeks and perform as expected?
I’m in a 10 team league with no IR spot and somebody dropped him today. Should I grab him off waivers and drop WCJ?
Tough to say. It’d be all speculation. Without an IR spot, tough to stash, especially since WSJ is a starter and getting the minutes
