…Well I dunno what he woulda snitched about, but ya know…

The injuries and tanking DNPs continue in one of the most utterly annoying final months to the NBA in recent memory.  There will always be guys getting hurt, but we’ve lost yet another with Hassan Whiteside tearing up his hand and needing 10 stitches last night after jamming it up against the rim.  Right in the webbing!  Between the fingers!  Youchie.  After the game he said he couldn’t feel it.  I’m no doctor, but none of that sounds good for his status tonight!  I mean, sometimes losing all feeling in a hand can be good like in The Stranger…  Certainly sounds like he’ll take at least a game off, unless they can fit him with one of those oven mitts they give guys in the NFL when they play with broken hands.  It might end up being a good thing, because if Kelly Olynyk says something about Whiteside’s mama, we could see an even longer suspension!  Here’s what else went down last night in another “dropping like flies” night of fantasy basketball action:

Khris Middleton Well, at least we can start on a positive note!  With Middletit’s desperation trey dropping in like a fly!  Unreal buzzer beater that I can’t believe he had enough time to put up, especially since he was 1-7 from deep until that frenzied shot.  Game-winners should be a stat!

Zaza Pachulia – Zaza arms used every bit of em to get Middletit that ball, in a redonk 14/11/7/5/1 line.  Certainly helped that Whiteside wasn’t looming around on D!  Too busy bleeding everywhere…  But you know I’ve been carrying the torch for Zaza needing to be owned in more leagues!  Nice out-of-position dimes, but at the cost of some FG%/TO/Blk.

Chris Andersen – The lack of upside for minutes make him still pretty low end, but if there’s no Whiteside tonight I think he could be a decent stream.  But not good enough for an official stream call!

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope I’m like waking up naked every night with no memory due to my relapse back in the KCP addiction!  Man he’s playing some great ball…  26/6/4, didn’t have a steal but also didn’t commit a TO.  Put another 5 treys on the board!  I’m brushing my teeth with my finger in glee!

Reggie Jackson Also playing really well these past few weeks as he’s gelling in the DET system.  28/5/9/1/0 with no TO either, hitting 10-18 with a couple treys.  All of that production with no TO from either G?!  One of the most efficient backcourt games in the NBA this year!

Kyle Lowry Ugh.  Certainly helped the DET guys with Lowry having to leave early!  The back spasms flared back up, and for a team willing to rest him with no “official” injury a few weeks ago, this is no bueno for Lowry owners.  I’d highly doubt he plays tonight which would make…

Greivis Vasquez – A nice low end stream.  I’ve said too much!  More below.

Lou Williams Also got a nice influx of shots with Lowry out, playing 33 minutes for 6-11 FG (3-6 3PTM 4-5 FT) 19/2/0/0/0 with 3 TO in a pretty ThrAGNOFfy showing.  More FT Lou!  Less TO!  More steals!

Monta Ellis – “He’s on fire!” in NBA Jam voice.  38 points on 16-27 shooting in a possible playoff-advancing type of game for Ellis owners.  Huge one there!

Dirk Nowitzki I was reviewing my ranks with Las on Twitter, and Dirk might’ve been my worst rank.  I was pretty much right with the consensus, but jeepers pretty much everything has fallen across the board.  He’s going to be infuriating to rank next year since he still has value, but I won’t feel good about drafting him at all.

Tiago Splitter – Man, rough game across the board for the Spurs except Kawhi Leonard, with Splitter falling back down to Earth right after I pick him as a stream.  Sheesh.  8/4/1/3/1 so at least he did something, but 4 TO in only 22 minutes?!  I can’t believe they ran Boris Diaw for 29 either, especially since he wasn’t doing much of anything.

Jordan Clarkson Whoa, look at the Lakers exploiting the non-existant OKC D!  Career-high for J-Clark for 30/4/7/1/3 with a couple of treys hitting 12-19 from the field.  Just an unreal game, and I wonder if he’s done enough to keep the Lakers from signing a big-ticket PG and they instead go for bigs…

Jeremy Lin Got the start as the Lakers went combo G, going 30 minutes for 19/2/7/0/0 with a couple of treys.  Maybe this sticks, and I would look for Lin on the wire for some late streams.

Carlos Boozer/Jordan Hill – Ugggghhhhh!  Friggin’ tanking teams man!  Both will be sat 4-5 games according to the Lakers coaching staff, just to evaluate younger guys.  Hey Lakers coaches, I have a staff for you!  And somehow Ed Davis isn’t included in this evaluation, only playing 16 minutes…

Ryan Kelly – Slim’s favorite NBA player from Whoville got the start at PF, going 16/5/2/2/1 in a near rainbow with 2 treys and no TO.  Not too shabby!  With the Purp and Gold giving us a Purp Nurp, Kelly is a nice streaming option available virtually everywhere.  I’ve said too much again!  More below.

Wayne Ellington Shifted to the bench, but was decent for 6-14 FG (3-6 3PTM) 15/3/2/1/0.  Don’t like the 24 minutes and should be even lower-ThrAGNOFfy as Lin starting will probably stick.

Anthony Morrow – Came off the bench as OKC started a huge line-up against a team starting two PG…  Dion Waiters at the 2 against a PG?  Eh, whatev…  Waiters was pretty good for 23/4/4 with Morrow going full ThrAGNOF for 12/0/0/0/0 all on 4 treys.

Steven Adams Whoa, look at The Big Kiwi making the freebies!  16/10/3/2/0 making 5-6 FG and 6-6 FT, but yet another foul-plagued game getting 5 in 30 minutes.  A really bad foul out is coming, I can feel it brewing!

Enes Kanter Just destroyed R-Kelly and company at the 4, going 25/16/4/1/0 on 10-15 FG and 5-5 FT.  I mean, it couldn’t have been a prettier matchup.  For tonight, the Wolves don’t really have a good PF right now (sorry Adreian Payne), but Lakers opps down the road should get some monster games from their PFs.

Robert Covington Even with Jason Richardson not constipating the minutes, only 27 minutes for RobCov.  Camon Gary!  Did have the 5 fouls, but Lord Covington was killing it for 7-9 FG (5-6 3PTM 2-4 FT) 21/3/1/1/1.  Just can’t trust him at all unless you know in advance J-Rich is out (like we did last night).

Ish Smith Continues to play well especially for 8-catters, going 13/8/7/1/0 with a trey albeit with a 9-cat loathing 7 TO.  29:30 of PT to only 19 minutes for Isaiah Canaan, who played decent shooting 5-10 FG (2-6 3PTM 1-1 FT) 13/0/1/1/0 and only the 1 TO.  Obviously rather Ish, but decent stream play call from me last night on Canaan.

DeMarcus Cousins This just in!  He’s really good at basketball.  But took it to a new level with a near double rainbow against the Sixers!  I mean, who wasn’t expecting a monster game in this one?  33/17/3/4/4, although shot only 8-27 from the field, salvaged a tad by 17-19 FT.

Damian Lillard Tried to put Portland on his back with both LaMarcus Aldridge (finger sprain) and Nicolas Batum (back) out for 29/7/5/1/1 with 6 treys.  Both sound really iffy for tonight, so def rolling with The Omen tonight in Daily.

C.J. McCollum Well, turns out he was the stream of choice shooting the second most shots on the Blazers behind Lillard, going 9-18 FG (3-5 3PTM 2-4 FT) 23/1/2/3/0.  Love the steals, but otherwise a little empty scoring.  Kinda weird Dorell Wright didn’t get more of a chance than 21 minutes (12/5/2 with 2 treys) given the hole at F.  Who had Alonzo Gee for 31 minutes, second behind Lillard?!

Robin Lopez Yeah, my jokes about him being so terrible are coming frightfully to a sudden fruition.  Those are some pretty fancy F words to counterbalance the non-fancy ones Rolo owners have been using!

Andrew Bogut – Monster 24 minutes for 10/16/6/1/0.  I was worried the minutes would be low in a blowout, but the short-handed Blazers hung around.

Andre Iguodala Even with Klay Thompson back and Stephen Curry dropping his normal elite line, Iggy was beastly off the bench for 21/4/4/1/0 on 9-11 FG and 3-4 from deep.  Harrison Barnes took the brunt of it for 13/3/0/0/0, even though he still played big minutes.  Really all top 6 of the Warriors had monster games in a 122 point outing.  Shocker!

Streamers/Cheap Daily League Picks:

Greivis Vasquez (11% owned) – I know, I know, I mentioned my streams earlier, but yeah with Lowry likely out, I think even the low-ish upside from The Twerp is worth a spin.

Ryan Kelly (1% owned) – Great matchup tonight against the Wolves which should see some big scoring, Kelly has very little to contend with for minutes with the Lakers benching everyone.  Should be a league minimum in Daily and available virtually everywhere for deepers if you don’t have a full line-up.

Drop rubio for Clarkson? I’ve got a bye this week, I know I hate the late playoffs in this league. Thanks man!

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@Connor: Yeah I would make the move. I like Clarkson a lot and I don’t trust Rubio will give anything else the rest of the way. Maybe I’m wrong but the risk seems too great this late in the year. Clarkson on the other hand feels very safe.

        Thanks Slim! @Slim:

Name droppin this Las guy like no one’s business! Dirk really has been poo but big al surely would come in as your second worst rank.. So disappointing

So how about Nurk at PHI as a potential monster steam? Hell, I’m even considering starting him over big al, healthy or not. Or is Bismack the better stream should big al actually sit? I like Nurk’s mins of late

    • Lasandro says:
      (link)

@jb Gilpin: would LOVE to put Ed Davis on this list but after streaming him yesterday, I’m very disappointed in the low mins. Dude didn’t miss and got nice stats in such a short run! Also, think Payne would be good for a strong dub dub tonight? Over Tarik? Kels looking like a decent stream indeed but need the dub digit brds from someone and big al is no beuno these days

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Lasandro: Yeah, same with Dirk though, I was more or less with the consensus. These things happen!

Agree with everything Slim said below, let’s have a goodun Nurk!

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@Lasandro: Dirk will be well outside of the top 50. Given probable DNPs next year I’ll have trouble calling him a top 100 guy. When guys get old they do get old in a hurry.

Nurk should be solid, I agree minutes look good. Always risk with him but if he gets minutes he should get 15/10 with a steal and a couple blocks in his sleep. I would keep him over Bismack, even if 30 minutes guaranteed, and Ed Davis.

I would stay away from Payne. Even with Hamilton down Payne only gets about 20 minutes and Budinger plays more minutes as a stretch 4. Tomorrow is definitely Pachulia. Today, Marcus Morris is probably owned, and Adams, I kind of like Tarik Blacks minutes. Especially if you are only going for boards.

    • Lasandro says:
      (link)

@slim @jb Gilpin: so not only is nurk coming off the bench, but hicks on has entered the gem before him!!!! Wtf!!!!!!!!

    • Lasandro says:
      (link)

@slim @jb Gilpin: I played him over banged up big Al thinkin he’d had a monster game! He’ll be lucky to hit 12min at this date and big al decided to actually hit the O glass tonight that btch. God I’m annoyed!

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Lasandro: Ugh yeah, maybe a little matchup based too… But a terrible 4 minutes so far for Nurk. Al playing big after having his knee drained! Crazy

    KCP/RJax > Curry/Klay

AGREE?!?!! LOL. Mannn my team just couldn’t catch a break, lost Batum this week, then now Hassan. 7/8/0/1/2 in just 12 mins of play!! Couldve been a monster game had he stayed on the court!! On his way to maybe: 22pts 21rebs w/ 6blks. Mannnnnnn

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@Dante Green: They are no Lin/Clarkson!

Whiteside’s injury is brutal, he was supposed to be winning people their leagues.

      • Dante Green says:
        (link)

@Slim: yea man, it just sucks!

RJAX has been on a tear lately! GMonroe going down did help! Where would you place Action Jackson in the draft next season? Let’s say the pistons assured him that they’re committed to making him the main guy running the point?
In my opinion, if it’s my turn to pick, maybe mid to late 3rd rd! Between 26-32?? I’d go for him!

        • Slim

          Slim says:
          (link)

@Dante Green: Alright. Assuming we don’t have to worry about Jennings then I’m thinking, this is the 1st projection of ’15-’16 btw…

          .435/.880/1.1/17.5/4.5/8.0/1.1/0.2/3.0 :34 minutes

Tough for me to rank without more projections but would I take him over Dragic, assuming he stays in Miami? Umm… something like.

          .490/.770/1.3/17.0/4.0/6.0/1.3/0.1/2.2 :34 minutes

Looks to be pretty close overall. I could see Reggie going in round 3. Low to Mid 30s. I think he still goes well after guys like Wall, Lowry, Bledsoe but in the range of guys like Conley, Collison, Kemba. The biggest issue I have is the lack of steals. All these guys should out steal Reggie with equal minutes.

          • JB Gilpin

            JB Gilpin says:
            (link)

@Dante Green: Hah, glad someone threw out the Klay Curry hahaaha. I almost threw a comp in there to stir it up, but left it at “most efficient”

Surprised @Slim: is up to round 3, I thought we were at 50ish a few weeks ago!

            • Slim

              Slim says:
              (link)

@JB Gilpin: Whoa… I said I could see him drafted in the 3rd. Not that I would draft him in the 3rd. But yeah the high end assist potential is going to definitely keep him in the top 50, even if he doesn’t give too many steals and 3s. I hate digging for steals though so I would need to have that pretty good already to even think about taking him in the 4th round.

              • JB Gilpin

    Drop Jordan Hill for Dwight?

    • Slim

      Slim says:

@Clos: Sure but there are alot of other guys I would pick up 1st. Like Zaza or Steven Adams.

      • Clos says:
        (link)

@Slim: forgot to mention it’s my last pick up/drop of the week.. You think it’s a safe bet to ride out zaza for the week? Adams is taken already.. Dropped covington for nurk dropped jack for Isaiah now dropping Hill for zaza my team for the rest of the week would look like this

        Paul
        Isaiah
        Ish
        Knight
        Demar
        Kieff
        Draymond green
        Aldridge
        Cousins
        Favors
        Marc gasol
        Nurk
        Zaza

        • Slim

          Slim says:
          (link)

@Clos: Yeah I would go with that. The Bucks don’t play today and you should have a full active roster, he plays tomorrow, then gets the other heavy schedule day off, Friday, and you probably have a full active roster that day too. Then he plays Sat. I would save the last move and drop Zaza for a Sunday guy. That should maximize total games.

          • Slim

            Slim says:
            (link)

@Slim: Oops. Zaza is the last move right? If it is or isn’t I still think it’s the right move. The only team that plays Sat/Sun is OKC, so Adams is the only other guy that would give you 2 games (assuming you don’t need a guy for Wed and Fri).

            • Clos says:
              (link)

@Slim: alright just made the move.. Thanks slim

nice article man… saw the title and was like… whoa what’s this snitching business.. oh of course, because it rhymes with stitch hahah

between ryan kelly and tarik black, given their respective strengths, who will produce more/get more minutes the rest of the week you think?

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@patrick: Tough one. If I was gambling on just one I would gamble on RKelly. Tarik is a very limited fantasy player. FG% and boards with bad FT% and low blocks. Given equal minutes, which sounds reasonable, Kelly should hit more categories.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@patrick: Hahahaha, yeah it’s a line from Park and Rec too which gave me the idea.

Agree, with Slim rolling dice on RKelly

JB ! Please help me keep the champion dream alive!

At this point would you drop Monroe, Galloway or Lavine for Foye or Vasquez?

    Thanks!

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@jcg: Foye was rested on the 15th and I’m a little scared there could be another coming. With Lowry down Vasquez should be solid. Who to drop is really tough. Galloway needs Shved down to be good, LaVine needs Rubio down and Monroe isn’t helping anyone right now. Well, he’s helping your opponent. I think I would lose Monroe for Greivis. I would need to feel good about big man stats but anymore DNPs could spell disaster.

      • jcg says:
        (link)

        @Slim:

        awesome analysis, thanks Slim!

I am pretty set on big man stats and so far I have a big lead this week, just picked up Monroe off of waivers this past weekend so I know if he does suit up next game someone in my league will scoop him off my waivers if I drop him.

I guess I Can’t really worry about though since it’s unknown when Monroe returns. Lou Williams is also available but Vasquez probably the better pickup right?

        My Squad

        Lillard
        MCW
        Conley
        Lavine
        Galloway

        Ellis
        Mirotic
        Giannis
        Dieng

        Gobert
        Drummond
        Cousins

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@jcg: 100% agree, gimme Vasquez for Monroe.

Yup looks like your 3s are pretty good and with MCW pooping the bed last night, the upside for 8-9 dimes from Vasquez should be a good help

  7. dom says:

So 1st place in the points category is switching nightly between me and this other team for my roto league, and it is the difference between winning the league outright and tying for 1st overall. So volume scoring is all that matters, unless it’s possible he closes the 57 assists gap between us?
What are expectations for Brandon Knight when he returns?
Tonight I was going to roll out
    Knight (if healthy)
    Dragic
    LeBron
    Favors
    Bargnani
    Gallinari
Basketballmonster is projecting 18.4 points for Trey Burke tonight? If that’s the case, I may want to pick him up and play him over Knight or Bargnani. Your thoughts? Thanks

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@dom: I think you have it right, assuming everyone is good to go. Trey Burke definitely feels the riskiest of the bunch. Knight would be my biggest concern. They are saying he’s probably going to come off the bench and I’m saying he could have a minutes restriction. But still I would take his scoring upside over Burke’s.

      • dom says:
        (link)

@Slim: thanks slim. For the 1 game slate tomorrow, who do we like for points?
        Stuckey (if he plays)
        CJ Miles
        Scola
        Zaza
        CJ Watson

I have room for 3 of those guys. Streaming is crazy right now!

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@dom: Yeah that’s a nice lead in dimes.

With no Hayward or Hood, I would play Burke over Knight. If Knight wasn’t returning from injury I would go him, but yeah.

Stuckey is prob done tomo so I will throw him out. I would go Miles, Zaza, Watson, Scola. Zaza might be a little safe in points, but Miles with that upside

  8. Scott says:

Time to double down on Hawks and Warriors bench players?

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@Scott: If we know there will be a mass benching then absolutely. Schroeder is unquestionably the best Hawk and I think Holiday would be the best Warrior. But for Holiday we would need almost everyone to be benched.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:

@Scott: Yup agree with Senor Slim

  9. Hamtime says:
    (link)

Drop monroe for josh smith? Down to 2 moves and need to maximize games. No other interesting player on the wire. 16 man league and can’t risk getting anyone that might not suit up. Thanks.

Is whiteside droppable or hold thru the nrxt game?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:

@Hamtime: Yup I’d roll dice on smoove. I’d hold Whitside though, just stitches not a tear of a knee or anything

  10. Jeremy Handrup says:
    (link)

Need threes, assists, and points. Should I start Ariza, Deron Williams, Jeremy Lin, or Morrow tonight?

Was leaning Ariza, but now considering DWill because Hornets rank near the bottow in opponents ppg, 3pt%, assist rate, etc.

    • Jeremy Handrup says:
      (link)

@Jeremy Handrup: Shoot was looking at stats from a while ago (hoopdata out of commission?), disregard that info about the hornets above. DWill still may be the best be given my needs though.

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Jeremy Handrup: Hmmmm not sure about hoopdata. Throwing out Ariza and Morrow I think. Kinda like the Lin matchup against the Wolves. But I’ll end up going with you and taking D-Will as well

  11. Drez says:
    (link)

Who do you guys got between Wroten versus Will Barton in a dynasty? Need an SG eligible player to stash. Wroten only hurts me in FG% since I’m punting FT% and the league has A/T ratio instead of TO’s. I’ve got Barton in a few other leagues, so I’ve been keeping a close eye on him too. Looking for help next season since I’m already done in that league, but I’m trying to decide between the two. Thanks!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Drez: Hmmmm that’s a good one. If there’s added emphasis on next yr, gimme Barton. Wroten relies on that explosiveness, and will miss at least half of next year and who knows how good he’ll be when he returns. for 16-17 though and beyond though, I would go Wroten

  12. Miles proudfoot says:

Time to part with Monroe? Just don’t know what’s happening with him.

If so, could you please rank Rondo, Iggy, Foye or Brewer if looking for G-type stats? Marcus Morris, Mirotic, Hibbert, Asik for big men stats? I have no money left so need to see who gets through waivers. Thanks!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:

@Miles proudfoot: Yeah I think so. No info and DET pretty much out of it.

Yikes. Rondo>Brewer>Iggy>Foye – worried about DNPs for the latter 2. Geez, those bigs are all so different. Prob Miro>Hibb>Morris>Asik but different leaning if you need blocks vs points. Hope that helps!

      • Miles proudfoot says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: thanks man, that’s pretty much how I saw them too. And yes, they were all so different in what they offered so thanks!
