JV is for the young and weak. Varsity is where it’s at. The band, the dancing honeys, the letterman jackets, the lights. That is where the true players shine bright. Unfortunately, for most of his career, Jonas Valanciunas couldn’t perform at a varsity level because he was rarely given enough minutes. While in Toronto, he never averaged 30 minutes per game and had three seasons under 23. Since arriving in Memphis, though, he averaged 27.7 minutes last season and, while he’s only at 25.8 this season, the trend has been his friend and the playing time has increased recently. As a result, it’s been all varsity performances from JV. Last night was but the latest example.

Now, it was against Andre Drummond, who is one of the poorer defenders in the league. Seriously, what’s up with that? Everyone has been feasting on him. Is it being in Detroit? Anyways, this isn’t about Dre. This is all about JV. Over the past 15 games, he’s been a top 20 player for fantasy, averaging 27.4 minutes, 16.7 points, 0.5 tres, 11.3 boards, 2.1 dimes, 0.8 steals, and 1.7 blocks with 58% shooting from the field. Over the past four games, he’s averaged 30.3 minutes! Play the man. Would he keel over and die if he played 32 minutes per game? Beep. Boop. Bop. You know what never keels over and dies, despite constant use? The Stocktonator.
Here’s what else I saw last night:

With no HalleLuka, PorzinGod was activated. He garners a 28.6 usage rate with no Luka on the court, an increase of 2.8%. The Pacers were getting shredded by the pick-and-pop action, which is where PorzinGod is most deadly. Too bad his post game isn’t better, as that could help the 40% shooting from the field. Regardless, when he plays, PorzinGod is a top 40-50 player, on the strength of points, tres, boards, and blocks.

Rolling the dice is so much fun….especially when you go on a heater. WE GOT OURSELVES A SHOOTER!!! And those are the times that keep us going back for more and more. That is the Hardaway Jr. experience. Lots of crapping out, but once in a while, he will get hot and provide plenty of points and tres. Just another Dre Day. Leading the league in dub-dubs, so points and boards can be expected on the regular. What makes Dre great are the defensive stats, though. Lazy mofo! Kidding. Actually, kind of not, as watching him play defense in real life is kind of painful. Regardless, he’s usually a beast in those cats and last night was only the second time all season that he bageled both. Hopefully Dre gets traded to a contender, so that he can get rejuvenated. As Dr. Klahn from Kentucky Fried Movie was well aware of, Detroit is a place that many do not wish to go to.

Well, you have an excess in blocks. Good in points, rebounds, and steals. Dimes is your weakest cat and a little light in tres. If you’re going to make a trade, I’d view it from that perspective.
AyyyyO!
Great write up as always my guy.
What a time to be alive with the trade deadline nearing.
Lot of talk has been swirling around regarding dropping Levert… & or Conley.
They both have now had ONE solid game a piece as of late.
Hoping that is a trend that continues. No high hopes, but c’mon. These guy’s should ball.
Any ways, I’m holding both. If they are sucking it up come playoff time, then I will evaluate other options.
With Herro leaving the game with a sore foot, I think that maybe the tipping point for me finally. I drafted the dude & I really believe in him. But what do you think about swapping for Kevin Porter Jr. ? Damion Lee ? Duncan RobinSON ? Or I could hold for a few.. I do think the Heat are going to move some pieces this week. & I am a very relaxed & patient person.
Squad is looking like this –
H2H – 12 team, with 15 man rosters, considered deep – 13 cats (3 are rebounds)
Jrue/Lowry/Rozier/Conley
Oubre/Levert/Herro/Grant/Bertans
Jokic/Vucevic/Bryant/Holmes/Noel/Wood
I am SO GASSED UP for the trade deadline Son.
Prayer hand emojis for new door’s to open for Wood & Noel somehow!
Also wanting my Celtics to address their weak front court in real life. (Capela cough cough)
Talk to me.
Ayo!!! Thanks, Blast!
I’m holding Conley. Shocker right?
I’m not a believer in LeVert
I’m good with replacing Herro with any of the guys you mentioned. As for Heat moves, what do you think they do?
I am so pumped for this week. Hope we get some league altering trades.
Hands up for Wood and Noel.
Sorry, F the Celtics!!!! 🙂
In my eyes the Celtics are 1 piece away from a finals appearance & the trade deadline could very well bring that. Lets go Danny Ainge!
Could you please rank out of these 3 –
Mikal Bridges, Duncan Robinson, Kevin Porter Jr.
The drop would be Herro if you’re on board.
Needs would be PTS, 3PTM, FG% and of course, best fit for the squad above.
RobinSON is on waivers though, until 02/05 if that would be the choice. Other 2 are FAs.
Side thought – Did Duncan Robinson’s parents name him in honor of the OG San Antonio Spurs twin towers Tim DUNCAN & David ROBINSON ?!?!
Duncan, KPJ, then Mikal if those are your needs.
Side thought – highly doubt it but I like the thinking!
Hey Son. Would you drop JJ Redick or Herro for Damion Lee?
I’m ok with that move
Hey Son !!!
What are some of your top speculative adds right now ? I have seen after 7 years of fantasy basketball, that seasons can be won and lost around this time so wondering who I should be going out to grab to see what happens. I already grabbed Wood as I think he maintains decent production even if there are no major trades in Detroit.
Is Dedmon worth a grab ? Bruce Brown ?? Anyone else ?
Thanks man !
Dedmon for sure. Brown. Wood, Noel, Monk, Cody Martin, Kevin Porter, Nance, Svi, Kennard, and Brazdeikis (long shot)
Shabazz or Payton going forward? And would you rather have either of them than Dillon Brooks?
Payton.
Depends what you need. If points and tres, then Brooks
JRich coming off IR soon. League trade deadline is Friday so still trying for that elusive 2-1 trade. Two part question….
1. If I can not make a deal, who is my drop? Roster below.
2. Please rank these trades from best to worst. And would you do them given Shabazz may be toast?
A. His J Brown for my Napier and Melo
B. Barton for same duo
C. J Brown for Napier and Conley
D. Smart for Napier
Harden, Jrue, VV, Lowry, Napier, Conley
JJJ, Love, RoCo, Ibaka, Melo
Bryant, Myles, Vuce
IR: JRich
Thanks!
A, B, D, C
You tried to trick me with C!!!
You give me too much credit! But that does test your Conley obsession LOL
So you would do them all but Conley last. Yep. You have issues!
If a drop when JRich comes back. Who goes?
I have many many issues, which you subscribe to!!!
Melo or maybe Napier, depending on how things shake out in Minny
Hi Son, Thanks for your great work.
I have this team, and I think I will have to drop somebody soon to make room for Carter Jr and Josh Richardson:
1) Jokic
2) Vucevic
3) Adebayo
4) Butler
5) Jrue Holiday
6) Shai
7) Robert Covington
8) DeJounte Murray
9) Brandon Clarke
10) Satoransky
11) C. Wood
12) Nance Jr.
13) Open to do streaming
IR:
Josh Richardson
W. Carter Jr.
Who would you drop to make room for those two? Would you drop one, or the two of them instead?
I wouldn’t drop anyone!!! Lol. I’d wait until after the trade deadline if you can. Things will be more clear then
Cool, Let’s wait, jajaja.
Someone wants to trade their D’Aaron fox for my Nikola Vucevic.
What do you think?
I wouldn’t
I am done with Melo. Fun while it lasted. Sent out the scouts. So far the best offer is Smart. Might take it. I punt FG% and like his steals.
Lol. I’m with you. I like that trade
I grabbed it. New team now is:
Harden, Jrue, VV, Lowry, Napier, Conley, Smart
Love, JJJ, JRich, Ibaka,
Bryant, Vuce, Myles
IR: J Rich
One other option out there:
Kemba for my Jrue. Jrue has a bad playoff sked but love his steals. Team playing well too. Could accept or counter with Vuce, Lowry, or VV. Or maybe I just hold?
I like it. Kemba worries me with his knee issue. I’d trade for one of the Toronto guys. I forgot if your playoff schedule is different than the standard, but TOR is the only team that plays 15 games during the playoffs
Actually I have the Toronto guys. He wants to trade me His Kemba for my Jrue.
Also, Napier’s value just hit the floor I imagine.
I Should have a first round bye. Second round starts week of March 23 then the finals begin week of March 30, Toronto has 7 games over those two weeks as does Boston. Pels only have six.
Shit, my bad. You would counter your TOR guys. Got it.
Nice. You mapped it all out. You good to go
Hey man, can you review todays trade in your upcoming post? Like who are adds in standart leagues and etc. It would be really helpful for readers 😉
Already done
