It took 171 games, over two seasons, and 5800 minutes played, but Ben Simmons finally did it. He drained his first tres.

I know you have doubts, but tape don’t lie….

The fact that I’m making Simmons the lede for making a tres is sad, but what’s worse is that it took him 171 games, two seasons, and 5800 minutes! Now, let’s not forget that on this historic and momentous night, Simmons actually played a great overall game:

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
18 7 13 1 1 1 1/1 7/9 3/4

In a whopping 42 minutes! Yes, it was against the Knicks but whatever. Production is production. Beep. Boop. Bop. You know what always provides the production? The Stocktonator. For fantasy, Simmons is such an interesting player because he leads you down the punt one, punt two, punt three category strategy (tres, ft%, and turnovers). But, but, but….he has nightly “mess around” potential and will get his block and steal on. On the season, he’s a top 40 player despite his shortcomings.

Here’s what else I saw last night:

Jakob Poeltl

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
11 5 2 1 3 1 0 5/7 1/3

Got the start and played 26 minutes, as Trey Lyles was banished to the bench. Poeltl can provide boards, blocks, and excellent field goal percentage. The free throw shooting is atrocious, though. Keep an eye on how Pop decides to utilize the big man going forward, as he could be a cheap source of blocks if he gets consistent run.

LaMarcus Aldridge

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
12 10 5 0 3 1 0/2 6/15 0

Spurs lost to the Wizards, 132-138. LMAO! Over the last three games, LMA has increased the collecting of boards to over nine per game. He had been sitting in the six range for most of the season. He’s also been blocking over two shots per game. As a result, he’s been a top 20 player for fantasy. Do I have to revise the LMAO to LMAD? LMAB?

Patty Mills

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
16 1 6 2 0 3 4/6 6/10 0

Got the start and played 30 minutes. Pop said he wanted more offense to begin the game. I don’t see this being a regular thing.

Derrick White did not play due to a foot issue.

DeMar DeRozan

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
31 4 5 0 1 1 0 9/13 13/17

Played a whopping 40 minutes! Despite DeMar DeRozan, DeSpurs were Defeated. I will never understand why DeRozan never completed the development with his shot from downtown. To each their own.

Bryn Forbes

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
19 4 7 2 0 0 3/9 6/14 4/5

As I always write, Forbes is money!!! I rarely write up all five starters from a game, but that’s what happens when a team scores 132 points. For fantasy, Forbes is primarily a tres specialist, but the most important thing to take away is that the Wizards suck and should provide fantasy manna for opposing teams. They are #6 in offensive pace and dead last in defensive efficiency.

Dejounte Murray

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
15 5 2 3 0 3 1/2 7/11 0

Played 19 minutes off the bench. Murray is a per-minute monster, as he’s just outside the top 100 despite only averaging 22 minutes per game. He provides a ton of boards from the guard position with dimes, steals, and good field goal percentage. Don’t expect tres or blocks, though.

Bradley Beal

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
33 4 4 0 0 4 3/7 14/24 2/2

The Beal was cooked just right last night. On the season, he’s a top 20 player. Over the last five games, he’s been the #7 player overall!

Davis Bertans

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
21 5 4 1 0 3 4/7 7/11 3/3

Played 29 minutes off the bench. REVENGE! The last time he played the Spurs, he dropped 23 points on 7-for-7 shooting. With that said, he’s been good all season long, averaging 12.5 points, 2.1 tres, and 4.2 boards. He’s top 10 in tres made per game! Now, he won’t provide much else, so keep that in mind.

Ish Smith

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
21 4 4 0 1 1 3/4 9/12 0/1

Played 24 minutes off the bench. This is blast from the past, as I had forgotten Ish was even playing anymore. I wish that Ish would swish Js and dish out dimes, but he just doesn’t get the playing time, is that a crime? Naw, it’s absolutely sublime.

Marcus Morris Sr.

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
22 13 6 2 0 2 4/7 8/21 2/2

Played 40 minutes! I never thought I’d see the day when Marcus Morris would be the alpha of a team. Yet, here we are. Morris is averaging 14.6 shots per game and is a top 60 player for fantasy. He’s even contributing in the defensive categories! If that doesn’t scream outlier, then I don’t know what is.

Joel Embiid

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
23 12 5 0 2 3 1/7 7/19 8/12

Embiid vs Morris Sr. went to Joel this round. But did it?

Maybe I have to revisit this whole Morris as the alpha thing. Maybe Morris is the NBA’s Cujo. Did he get bit and is now playing like a freaking mad man? Anyways, I apologize for that tangent. Freaking Morris is putting me on tilt now. As for Embiid, what’s there to say? He’s amazing. Really the only question that needs to be asked is, “Who is going to sex him that night?”

Furkan Korkmaz

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
2 0 1 0 0 1 0/4 1/5 0

Got the start for Josh Richardson, but only played 16 minutes. Say Furkan Korkmaz. Now scream it as if you were Adolph Hitler addressing the Nazis…FURKAN KORKMAZ!!! Furkan Korkmaz indeed for that terrible performance.

Bojan Bogdanovic

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
30 4 3 1 0 3 6/11 9/18 6/7

I’d say the upgrade from Joe Ingles to Bojan Bogdanovic is paying dividends for the Jazz. Has the solar system been aligned a certain way lately, because the Bogdanovic’s are all playing out of their minds. Anyways, BojBog is shooting a ridiculous 43.6% from downtown while contributing 2.8 tres per game. The free throw shooting is excellent as well, but the contributions outside of boards are minimal. As a result, he’s a top 90 player for fantasy.

Rudy Gobert

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
12 15 1 0 5 3 0 5/8 2/3

Because of the slow start, Rudy is the #54 player for fantasy, but over the past five games, he’s picked it up and been a top 25 player. The boards and blocks, the categories that we drafted Rudy for have improved dramatically. Viva la Rudy!!!

Mike Conley

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
16 6 8 1 0 0 2/4 6/12 2/2

Remember when Conley was shit to start the season? Well, he’s still been shit. The steals are down, the dimes are light, and the shooting is atrocious. I still believe, though. Just remember that I’m a stupid, stupid man.

Andrew Wiggins

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
22 7 3 0 0 3 1/10 10/24 1/3

Returned to action and played 34 minutes. The 10 attempts from downtown matched a season high. Well, at least he’s not jacking up the long twos. The 2019 fantasy season could be remembered for Andrew Wiggins. Did you sell high or were you one of the dummies that sold? What a time to be alive.

Kelan Martin

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
10 7 0 0 1 0 2/5 4/8 0

Played 25 minutes off the bench. That’s back-to-back games scoring in double figures and receiving at least 24 minutes of playing time. Martin looks good, as he can stroke it from downtown and has a nice little tear-drop floater. Jake Layman has been out due to injury, so Martin will likely get buried when he returns.

Andre Drummond

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
6 14 4 2 3 3 0/1 3/10 0

The offense has really fallen off since Lake returned, but the boards and defensive stats haven’t abandoned him or us. Have no fear. We shall have many Dre Days this season.

Christian Wood

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
12 10 1 0 3 0 0/3 5/9 2/2

In only 18 minutes off the bench. Wood is a great boards and blocks guy. He just won’t get significant run.

Derrick Rose

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
18 3 2 1 0 3 0/2 5/11 8/9

Played 24 minutes off the bench. I was told that there would be a lot of revenge in this one. Hmmmph. With the Pistons getting healthy, the usage rate for Rose has dropped, from 33.2 to 27. He’s still an excellent source of points, dimes, and free throw percentage, but the turnovers are high and he doesn’t contribute much in any other category. Rose is also shooting 53% from the field. That number will likely dip into the 40s sooner than later.

Lauri Markkanen

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
24 6 0 1 2 1 3/4 7/14 7/11

This was Lauri’s first game scoring at least 20 points since his opening night performance with 35 points. Any wonder why he’s outside the top 100 for fantasy? The 37% field goal percentage won’t last. He’s too good of a player. Expect that number to get into the 40s soon.

Wendell Carter Jr.

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

Shaq Harrison

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

Zach LaVine

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

I’ve drawn curly mustaches on all the LaVine posters. The shooting efficiency has been terrible. He is providing points, tres, boards, dimes, and steals. Well, except for last night…and the night before….and the night before that. Fine, I’m kidding.

Tomas Satoransky

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

Coby White

Kris Dunn

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

Played 22 minutes off the bench. I’ve overlooked Dunn all year. Like I’ve seen his stat line and was always like whatever. Then, a commenter was talking about him and I took a closer look. He’s a top 90 guy for fantasy! I would’ve never guessed. He ain’t Dunn after all. He’s only averaging 20.6 minutes, but is providing 3.1 boards, 3.2 dimes, and 2.1 steals.

The Mavericks defeated the Pacifists, 142-94!!!

Draymond Green did not play due to a heel issue while D’Angelo Russell remained out with the thumb injury. The Pacifists only had eight players. As a result, they all played over 20 minutes.

Malik Monk played 28 minutes and shot 5-for-13 from the field, while Dwayne Bacon only played 14 minutes. There was a time when Bacon was sizzling and offering pungent smells. Now, it’s burnt and needs to be thrown into the garbage.

Taurean Prince

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

Prince will never be a king due to the atrocious shooting percentage, but he can deliver tres, boards, and steals. He averages close to 30 minutes per game, so is more of a volume play.

Jarrett Allen

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

Got the start and played 28 minutes. See, Atkinson. This is what happens when you go to Jarrett! He’s been a top 40 player over the past four games, but Jarrett is more like a top 100 player. He provides boards, blocks, and excellent field goal percentage.

The shooting efficiency was poor, but like a good Butler, Jimmy helped by providing excellent free throw shooting. Jimmy is a top 10 player for fantasy, as he contributes across the board. If he drains more tres, he will join the 1/1/1 club. He’s averaging 2.7 steals and 1 block on the season!

Duncan Robinson

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

Got the start and played 34 minutes. As a starter (eight games), Duncan is averaging 29.4 minutes and providing 13.8 pionts, 3.6 tres, and 3.1 boards. In Duncan Robinson’s neighborhood, it’s all about shots from downtown. In Mitchell Robinson’s neighborhood, it’s all about the block party.

Bam Adebayo

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

Giannis Antetokounmpo

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT

Only played 30 minutes, as the game was a blowout until the Hawks made a furious comeback. Imagine if he played 34-35 minutes per game. Damn….Anyways, G is awesome. We all know this. The tres and poor free throw shooting hurt though. Reminds me of Ben Simmons to a degree. What if they played a game of one-on-one. Would that be the most entertaining spectacle? Or would that be the most painful game of basketball to watch?

Eric Bledsoe

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
28 7 5 0 1 6 3/6 8/17 9/11

It’s been a yo-yo season from Bledsoe. History shows that he will be a top 50 player, so I wouldn’t trip about the top 100 ranking right now. Looking at the numbers, the steals are down, but more importantly, he’s only averaging 27-28 minutes per game. Maybe we should start tripping.

De’Andre Hunter

PTS REB AST STL BLK TOV 3PT FG FT
27 11 2 0 0 1 3/3 8/12 8/9

A career game for this big game Hunter. Naw, he’s usually more like the spotter but everyone has their day in the sun, I guess. Maybe the light has flipped on, but more than likely, this was an outlier game. Hunter provides tres and boards. He’s a good defender in real life, but not so much for fantasy. With that said, he did notch six steals in one game and just put up 27 and 11 last night, so maybe I should shut the f#@k up. Someone to keep an eye on.

Aaron Gordon only played 12 minutes because he sprained his ankle. Al-Farouq Aminu would likely get the start for Gordon. Terrence Ross is also an option.

Nikola Vucevic only played 11 minutes because he also sprained his ankle. Word is that the injury did not look good. Mo Bamba and Khem Birch are the likely candidates to replace him.

Top 15 player over the past five games! Yeah, that won’t last but it shows that Fournier does have some upside. He provides points, tres, dimes, steals, and good percentages. With the injuries, he will likely shoulder much of the offensive load.

He’s fallen back down to earth a bit from his heavenly start, but he’s still a top 30 player on the season. He’s averaging close to 37 minutes per game! I wish the defensive stats were more voluminous. He provides a little something something, but with his length and athleticism, I feel that he has sky-high potential in those areas. We shall see how that aspect of his game develops, as it’s probably an awareness/IQ issue.

overthinking much?? selling low on my guys and buying high on his??

      • Son says:

I like both players but the FG% drain with lack of defensive stats give me pause. I usually eschew players returning from injury, but the upside is too high for Dipo

Hmmm, that is an interesting one. Dipo and my RichardSON!!!

Thanks son! I’m not sure if you’ll be proud of me or not for this one. After reading your comments just now on these players it’s a tough to know. I’m getting my butt kicked 12th in a 12 man league. I was top 3 for the past five years so this sucks and pulled the trigger.

I got Markannen and Richard Holmes. I gave up Tatum and Dedmon.

Also, I have brought this up in two conversations over the past year. I believe when Giannis is done, this could be a potential top five of all time IMO. Probably looking at it through my Bucks homer glasses.

    Jordan
    Magic
    Lebron
    Giannis
    Kareem

Thoughts? Or way the hell too early!???

I’m good with the trade. I do think Lauri will be better and Holmes is significantly better than Dedmon.

As for G, he could enter the GOAT Pantheon. Needs to develop the shot though

    Thanks!

And OMG can we stop with the air balls! You’re a grown fricken man! Shouldn’t he have been shooting 100 free throws a day with a shooting coach picked pout just for him? Maybe they did probably just all pshycological. Gonna kill us in the playoffs again though!

    • Son says:

Yeah, never understood why pro players can’t shoot free throws. I mean, I do, but I don’t. Anyways, G has a good chance of leading your squad to the promised land.

What’s up, Draymond Green is trash right now, desperately trying to move him out of my squad. I know he has to go, but I don’t want to sell him just for a bag of chips. Currently targeting: Dejounte Murray, Markkanen, Hayward, Barrett. Would it be descent trade to get one of those guys back for Green? Cause I can’t stand him missing games for fake-ass injuries.

I hear ya but never do anything while tilting. With that said, what’s the squad look like?

      • GregOden says:
        (link)

Drummond, Gobert, Clarcke,PG, ISaac, Green, RichardSon, Mitchell, Rubio, Vanvleet, Bledsoe.

Squad looks good. You are fine in D stats, so I’d go with either Markkanen or Hayward

12 team, h2h league so am looking for longer term potential as I can be patient. Need to be good late in the year. Given that any swaps to make? My team:

Harden, Jrue, VanVleet, Augustine (close to dropping him but wondered if he takes on more scoring with Vucevic out)
    Oubre, Covington, House, Lamb, Melo
    Bryant, Myles, Love, Nance, Noel
    IR: Vucevic

Wire: WCS, Ingles, Bertans, PBev, Sato, Olynyk, White, Crowder, Bazemore, Skal, Wanamaker,

    • Son says:
      (link)

I’d rather have Sato than Augustin
