Shaun Livingston had another nice game Friday night with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals in 38 minutes. If you’re waiting for Kyrie Irving to return and save your team, you’re just as sad and depressing as every other Cavs fan and you may be disappointed. Don’t wait till it’s too late, any player is better than an injured player in the playoffs because injured players don’t play! Fact! Meanwhile, Shaun Livingston is just 12% owned and averaging 12.5 points, 6 assists and 3.5 rebounds in two games starting since Irving went down. He also chipped in 4 steals and a block in that span. Livingston is not a huge scorer, but he could provide decent value in some other categories and will get plenty of burn in the Cleveland back court if you are looking for a player to help down the stretch.
Here’s what else happened in fantasy basketball Friday night:
Kosta Koufos – 18 pts, 16 reb, 3 blk. He like-a the juice! Helios! Get more juice for the man! Dan A told you to BUY him while he’s hot. And buy him you should. He’s currently is averaging 12 pts and 9.3 rebounds over the past week. He’s just 29% owned so pick up Koufos he won’t Kosta you anything.
Gerald Henderson – 22 pts 7 reb, 2 ast, 3 stl. Henderson is just that type of perfect pickup just in time for your playoff run. He’s 45% owned, so pounce (like a bobcat!).
Josh McRoberts – 10 pts, 9 reb, 3 ast in 38 minutes. I hate to recommend any Charlotte Bobcats to you, let alone two in the same post–so I won’t. But hey, that’s back to nice games for McBob.
Amir Johnson – 44 minutes, 12 pts, 21 reb, 3 blk, 2 stl. The 21 rebounds was a career high so I won’t mention that it was against Charlotte.
Grievis Vasquez – 18 pts, 8 reb, 9 ast, 2 stl. Missed the trip-dub, but it’s cool, man. NOLA and the General lost this battle, but the war wages on! Pelicans never say die!
John Wall – 29 pts, 4 reb, 9 ast, 3 3pm, 2 stl. He’s averaging 18.6 pts, 7.4 ast, 4.6 reb, 2 stl, and 1 block a game over the past two weeks. Yup. Wall is going to be on all my teams next year.
Martell Webster – 18 pts, 4 reb, 1 ast, 4 3pm. ALL HE DOES IS HIT THREES! Websters defines Martell’s night as, “on fiiiire from dooowntoooown!”
Kobe Bryant – 12 minutes, 0-4 fgm, 2 ast. Mamba didn’t play the second half but Dwight Howard willed the Lakers to the win with 20 pts, 12 reb, 4 ast and 4 blk. Is it me or is D-White is having the best week ever.
Steve Blake – 18 pts, 6 reb, 7 ast. Blake was everywhere in 35 minutes off the bench Friday night hitting 5 threes and adding 4 steals and 2 blocks. Aww, he thinks he’s Mamba. Isn’t that special? Jodie Meeks, who did not score, was initially thought to be the prime beneficiary of Kobe missing time, but I just can’t imagine Kobe not playing basketball. I mean, Kobe’s prob thinking “I got one good ankle, what’s the problem, coach? Let’s do this already.” Hard to argue with that logic. Unfortunately, this eliminates the possibility of Blake or Meeks providing any consistent value.
Steve Nash – 18 pts, 6 reb, 7 ast. Did you notice Nash had an almost identical line to Steve Blake? Same line, same name. Spooky, right?
Lance Stephenson – 12 pts, 11 reb, 5 ast, 2 3pm. Nice game from Landry, err, Lance, but you have to do it more than once a week in order to make Coach Taylor’s team.
Devin Harris – 15 pts, 4 reb. 5 ast, 2 stl, 2 3pm in 24 minutes. Harris is just 21% owned and is averaging 10.5 pts and 5.3 ast over the past week. The Hawks have a four game week next week and with Jeff Teague (8 pts, 4 ast) nursing an injury, I like Devin’s chances to see plenty of minutes end the season strong.
Markieff Morris – 15 pts, 11 reb, 2 stl, 35 min. I told you Marcus Morris (4 pts, 2 reb) was the wondertwin to own last week, so of course Markieff proves me wrong Friday night. I know what happened. It was the classic twins-switch-places-to-confuse-everyone con. Those Morris brothers are a couple of pranksters.
Jermaine O’Neal – 18 pts (7-9 fgm), 5 reb, 1 ast. O’Neal started over Luis Scola, because that’s what you do when your tanking a season. As for Jermaine, I’m sorry but I can’t recommend him. It’s just bad juju.
Tobias Harris – 19 pts, 6 reb, 3 stl. Gotta hand it to the Magic, they played the Thunder hard. Nikola Vucevic had a monster double-double and and four starters played over 40+ minutes. A lesser team would have tanked this one–hard. Tobias is still available in half of yahoo leagues, and the other half must have checked out for baseball season because Tobias needs to be owned everywhere. Don’t make me Harris you about it, go pick him up!
Serge Ibaka – 20 pts, 6 reb. With three Iblockas!
Rodrigue Beaubois – 18 pts, 3 reb, 5 ast in 22 minutes. Sacre bleu! I love me the Roddy Beaubois, but not this year Rodrigue. Not yet.
Mike James – 7 pts, 4 ast. Coming off back to back double digit scoring efforts, Old Mike didn’t have it going last night (but that didn’t stop him from taking five threes!) If your desperate for a point guard James is available everywhere and continues to see minutes starting for Dallas.
Zach Randolph – 18 pts, 18 reb. I think its safe to say Z-Bo’s injury is behind him for now.
JJ Redick– 14 pts, 3 3pm, 1 ast. Rumor is the Bucks brass think this is worth a 5-year $40 million contract. Sigh. Did they learn nothing from signing Michael Redd?
Ersan Ilyasova – 26 pts, 17 reb. Finally looking like he’s Ilyas-over his first half slump and living up to his mega contract. Maybe the Bucks should double his salary next year. Add a 6-year extension, maybe? Why not?
Lebron James – 28 pts, 10 reb, 7 ast, 1 blk. Web traffic obligations require I mention him in every post so here it is. He is good at basketball. Like the best, basically. The Heat win their 21st game in a row. Sweet sassy molassy!
J.J. Barea – 19 pts, 2 reb, 3 ast, 2 stl, 2 3pm in 27 minutes. Jose Juan was feeling it Friday night but unfortunately with Minni’s crowded backcourt of Ricky Rubio (14 pts, 7 reb, 7 ast) and Luke “I am not your father but I’d be honored to be, we could play one-on-one and I’d call you ‘sport’ and ‘champ'” Ridnour (10 pts, 6 reb, 3 ast), I don’t see Barea providing consistent value.
Greg Stiemsma – 12 pts, 5 reb, 4 blk. Nikola Pekovic sat this game out and the Stiemsmaroller took advantage. Give him a look if Nikola stands to miss anymore time.
Jeremy Lin – 24 pts, 8 ast, 4 stl. Jeremy had the shot going last night, and I hate to say it but he hasn’t looked this good since the beforetime, in New York, the long, long ago–the time which we shall never speak of again.
James Harden – 37 pts, 8 ast, 7 reb, 5 3pm. Personal obligations require I mention him in every post because I love him and he is awesome.
Join us next Saturday for another Friday recap as fantasy basketball continues next week, all week long!
