Morning, Razzball Nation! I’m filling in for Peter Kap this morning as he’s on a business trip in Jamaica. The reason? A getaway from DC from having to be a Wizards fan! Well, the Redskins are good now at least! And the Nationals have a bright future! But the Wizards keep regressing even with paying big money to retain their stars. Washington regressing despite more money for positions?! I’ll just leave that there…
If I told Pete & Wizards fans that John Wall would have a 52 burger, but it would be in a loss at home to the Magic, with the team falling to a .368 win percentage, I think they’d reply saying all the other starters must’ve gotten hurt… 52/4/8/3/0 last night, shooting 18-31 FG (5-8 3PTM 11-14) and giving us back-to-back nights with 50-point performances from guys eligible for the 30-point challenge! And the highest two scoring games on the season, on consecutive nights. Man, what a call from NYFantaC! Almost got the double point bonus for a 60 game!
Wall was apparently due indeed, and up to 24.1/4.2/9.8 on the season. He actually outscored the Magic starters! But that’s more about Vogel bringing his best players off the bench… It’s been an explosive first few nights of this NBA week, so let’s hope it keeps going! Here’s what else happened last night in Fantasy Basketball:
Elfrid Payton – Tis the Holiday Season, to see if the gift of Elfrid, who can be added to your Shelfrid! I know I said he was cuttable in 10ers, but hopefully in deepers you stuck it out just long enough for a monster 25/1/9/3/3 line in 35 minutes off the bench. Someone exercised the SKIIIIIILES demons! The Exorcism of Scott Skiles. That should be the next installment of that movie franchise! 9-13 FG, 4-4 FT and 3 treys. Wall was padding his scoring, and not playing any D! If you have anyone cuttable at all in 10ers, I would be giving him a shot again.
Jeff Green – Only 4 guys played off the Magic bench, and they scored 73 of the Magic 124. Green for 20/3/0/1/0, but while he’s scoring a bit, not doing much else consistently. Not too different than like, the Six-Foot-Turkey.
Jodie Meeks – ThrAGNOF alert! Kinda wish I had room for him in REL, I totally wish I had taken the flier here… 18/2/1 with 4 treys.
Bismack Biyombo – 14/13/2/0/3. The Vogel method actually worked this game! …against the Wizards…
Aaron Gordon – Look at those D stats and efficiency! 9/5/2/1/3 on 4-9 shooting with 0 TO. I’d be more apt to getting Elfrid on my Shelfrid than going back here.
Otto Porter – Man, this guy goes on runs where he’s a Roto first-rounder, then completely disappears like Kevin Bacon. 7/3/0/0/0 with a turnover in 27 uninspiring minutes.
Reggie Jackson – Still shaking off the proverbial rust, going 7/3/7/2/0 in 18 minutes on only 2-9 shooting. I thought he looked like the R-Jax of old though, all will be well ROS. Might get a DNP-maintenance tonight though…
Ish Smith – Got the nice subby sub minutes, going 7/5/10. Rubba dub dub, a dimebag in the tub!
Tobias Harris – 22/7/2/0/1/1 on 9-16 FG with no TO. He’s just so sexy-efficient. When I watch his game, it makes me want to blue myself!
Nikola Mirotic – Off a great game, 5/6/0/2/1 in 23 minutes. At least gets a trey and no TO!
Dwyane Wade – Was playing well (19/3/7/1/0) and Jimmy Butler got his mammoth 32 points, but just didn’t feel like this looked like anything close to a contending team. When you have the worst player in basketball at center, it makes things tough!
Carmelo Anthony – A lot of 30 point challenge points getting scored last night, with Melo going 35/4/2 with 3 treys. One of those games where you hate Melo if you own Poison Goose!
Kyle O’Quinn – A lot of KOQ talk on the Podcast yesterday, and The Irishman had another good reserve game even with Joakim Noah starting (14 minutes of 10/10/2 for Joakim too), going 12/7/3/1/2 in 27 minutes. I’d take a flier on him while getting run in leagues deeper than 12.
Brandon Jennings – I actually streamed this schmohawk in the past week here and there, as the dimes have been surprising. Of course they’re inconsistent in a bench role, but 6/1/9 last night and 7+ in 3 of the last 4. ASTnof! If only his name was Isaac, then I could make some sci-fi jokes…
Goran Dragic – While the Heat are really struggling, fantasy assets there are taking off! Well, some (cough, JRich, cough)! 29/4/7/2/0 giving him a mad strong run his last 5. I did see somewhere he had a shoulder stinger, and with the Heat going nowhere and playing on a b2b, keep an eye on that.
Kawhi Leonard – Ugh, well there goes my 30-point challenge lead! Stupid KAT shooting 3-16… 31/1/4/2/0 on 11-5 FG (2-3 3PTM 7-8 FT). He was just a smidge off for a few games and not getting foul calls on contested layups, he certainly shook that off last night! #WigginsD.
Patty Mills – Even though he didn’t start in favor of placeholder Nicolas Laprovittola, Tony Parker sat, and if you can stream up until games tip, you gotta roll Patty every time TP is DNP! 15/4/5/2/0 with 2 treys. Really the only other Spur to do anything, which is shocking in a 105 point game…
Kris Dunn – Looked great off the bench last night, going 15/1/2, and keeping Tyus Jones from being in the rotation. Ricky Rubio was bad, but still got his 32 minutes at least…
Zach LaVine – I’ll admit, some REL bias, but a lot of games he looks like he should be the alpha scorer. 25/3/2/0/0 on 9-16 FG (4-8 3PTM 3-4 FT). He can create, he jumps so friggin’ high on jumpers no one can block him, and he has fantastic rates shooting from deep. Andrew Wiggins – averaging 22.2 Pts on the season – only has 20+ twice in the past 10, and using our awesome player pages, only 18.0 Pts the past 2 weeks. I’m a little worried if you’re depending on Wiggins for scoring.
Troy Williams – Struggling to get his offense going, but when you’re making shots like this, maybe it will jump start ya!
Still getting the D stats though, going 8/3/1/2/1, and was efficient on 4-6 shooting with no TO. Good to see!
Troy Daniels – The other Memphis Troy finally started missing some 3s, going 10/1/1/0/0 on 4-14 FG (1-8 3PTM). Memphis gets the Blazers, so where I streamed him I’m gonna ThrAGNOF one more night.
JaMychal Green – Shook off a bad start to the week with an awesome 13/10/3/2/1 game. 9-10 FT too! Super Green!
Dario Saric – Playing some great ball, maybe correlated with no Robert Covington? 17/7/0/1/0 with 3 treys; it’s still rebounding-ThrAGNOF, but if boards and 3s are needs, now a strong add in 12ers until RobCo gets back (at least through this week).
Ersan Ilyasova – Speaking of rebounding-ThrAGNOF, look at the Six Foot Turkey! 23/17/4/1/2 with 4 treys. Led the team with 19 shots! Helps that there wasn’t the Joel Embiid usage suck as EMBIIIIIID sat on the bench to rest and be flaccid.
Rudy Gobert – For such a strong fantasy asset, I woulda thought he had a higher career-high! 22/11/0/0/4 and an absolutely gorgeous 10-11 FT. BEEF stands for balance, MONSIEUR ELBOW!, elevation, and feet. I think that’s what BEEF was at basketball camp!
Gordon Hayward – Awwwww, so close to ANOTHER 30-point challenge winner! 28/5/4/3/0. He’s been phenomenal; his broken finger might be a reason why you got him at a strong value and winning your matchups lately…
Brandon Knight – 15/7/5, and that’s fine and all, but on 6-18 shooting and this is a HUGE game for him. Ugh, so annoying.
Alex Len – 21 strong minutes off the bench, for 14/4 on 4-9 FG and 6-6 FT. After really disappointing as a starter in the second half last year, we had seen some strong blocks over the past few weeks, but goose eggs the past two. I think I would move on for streaming if you had some close cats by the weekend, minutes have fallen to 23, 17, and 21 the past 3 with Tyson Chandler back in the swing of things as well…
I hope everyone had a strong Tuesday, and if someone is facing Klay Thompson, Lou Williams, AND John Wall this week, that would be horrific! Go and play the lottery and see if that luck evens out… Catch you tomorrow morning!
I love how a bad game for JaMychael is still 15 rebounds, but yeah he looked good last night, I actually watched some Griz and Sixers?!?! Must have been a slow night…
I’m not interested in O’Quinn in 12ers, yeah he played well last night, although Whiteside doesn’t seem as into boxing out as he used to be. There’s just way too much variation in KOQs minutes. He could easily go for 18 minutes of nothing and ride the pine.
“Wall’s never been a 1st rounder, why do you keep ranking him so high?” – Because he’s the effin man!
I wish LaVine did more. I don’t get how someone so athletic can barely manage 1 combined stl/blk. Klay, Lavine, Booker, Knight, Bogdonovic, it goes in that order for sure but there isn’t much of a difference. Guess how many of these guys I own in all my 12ers combined…
@Slim: Slim, would love to get your opinion on a trade I was offered in a 12 team 10 cat league with FT made. Guy isn’t asking for anything in return and is offering me my choice of Ingram, Harris, or Barton. How would you rank those three going forward?
@Slim: @Connor: Well, that was in 44 mins due to 2OT. Ugh, why you watching that?!
Yup I said the same, but any deeper I might be adding him for the short term to see what happens. Hah, yeah FINALLY Wall is on out side.
Agree, he’s still not gonna be a great D stat guy. I like that order but def disagree that there’s not a difference! Clear tiers btw 1/2/3. That said, yeah I got Knight in like the 90s one draft, and thats the only one I own across 5 RCLs too ha
@Slim: @Connor: Yesssss! Slim?????
@Connor: @JB Gilpin: Fine if I’m gonna be pushed then I’m taking Harris. He’ll out minute Barton, and Ingram may have USG issues later, or maybe Ingram blows up and starts scoring 15 a game, or maybe Wilson or Gallo goes down and Barton gets his minutes, or maybe Harris develops a 3rd arm and learns the double crossover, or maybe Ingram loses a finger in a fireworks accident and leads the league in homeruns, or maybe Barton gets called into action by the Avengers in their fight against Thanatos, or maybe…
Which two to start tonight….Jordan,Plumlee,Biyombo or Nurkic ?
@phil: H2H matchup? If Reb/Blk are tight, Jordan/Biyombo, if needing a few more dimes, I would do plum over Biyombo
There’s no way to truly banish the Skiles Demon back to where it came from. It merely finds a new host when exorcised from it’s vessel. I’m thinking on Nov. 27th, Skiles Demon left Vogel and set up shop in Jason Kidd.
@Clyde Prompto: Ohhhhh possible, maybe it’s like the movie “Fallen” where it can travel through most humans by touch?! Azazel! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bP-ey0cVs0M
@JB Gilpin: Tiiiiii-iiii-iiime is on my side, ah yeas it is.
@Slim: He did coach (and I think may have played) Milwaukee in the past.
@Slim: @JG: Skiles definitely must have touched Kidd!
Underrated movie, one of my favs growing up
@JB Gilpin: Thank goodness you didn’t you that language of being touched in the post involving the Kyle O’Quinn’s acronym. Going to get an R-18 rating. Taking the whole “fantasy” basketball to a whole new level.
Agreed on the movie. We’re getting Pacino love this week on Razzball nation!
@JG: Yikes, that might be too far even for US! Grey and I are doing a baseball pod next week though, we’re even more puerile on that one!
@JB Gilpin: I used a couple bad ones, but it isn’t like KOQ is exploding on the scene.
@Slim: ><
This can get bad really fast so I won't add to it. Will just wait for JB to address the swordfight match that can ensue when D'KOQ matches up against THE EMBIIIIIID.
@Slim: @JG: Hell let’s just start calling Richard Hamilton “Dick” and have him officiate!
@JB Gilpin: Ooh, yes! Maybe instead of straight up touching another person, it’s transmitted via whiteboard or dry erase markers.
@Clyde Prompto: Ohhh ohhh, maybe one of those spalding notebooks, that’s ridged liked a basketball haha
@JB Gilpin: I’ll get to work on the screenplay ASAP.
1. I rode the Troy Daniels wave but it looks like it’s coming to a halt. Would you drop him for: Meeks, mcroberts, Jennings (waivers), or Murray? (16m league)
2. What to do with baze?? What’s he worth in a trade nowadays?
3. Hold Danny green in a 14m or drop for the likes of Meeks, McBob, dekker, Dunn, Andrew Harrison
4. Kanter or Trevor booker ROS?
5. Vuc or Ibaka ROS?
@Hamtime: 1. Nah, it’s only one cold game, and gets POR tomo. Although if AST was a team need, I’d be OK getting Jennings. 2. It’s too low to try and trade, just ride it out 3. Dekker is interesting, as is Harrison. I’d be OK getting either one depending on PG or REB needs 4. T Book 5. Ugh. I’ll lean Vuc but tough
Trevor Booker or Bazemore during fantasy playoffs? I can afford to sell Booker now and wait out Bazemore if I’m confident enough he’ll come around eventually. What’s your take?
@Big Red: That’s a toughie. I think it’s so close that I’d take the production right now from booker and wait it out
Yo JB,
I have a very good team in a 12 team 10 cat H2H, so I can afford to trade for an injured player…
PG CP3, Teague, George Hill, Sergio
Wings Klay, Tobias, Redick, Will Barton, Markieff, Ingram
Bigs A Davis, Love, Gortat, Vucevic, Nurk, Dwight Powell
Offer Redick for Conley? Do think Conley will be fine, and back in about 5 weeks as projected?
Thanks!!
@Don Majikowski: I don’t mind the offer, but I def think there’s some major risk with conley, I dunno if I think he’ll get right back to career-high numbers in some areas. But at that price, and with good 3s, I like the idea
In fairness to Otto and Fournier (another blah game), foul trouble issues. Payton and DJA even played a few minutes (sub 5) together. More a function of Fournier’s foul trouble.
@JG: I did see Otto had 4, but he still got his run. But getting out of you flow can mess you up
Slim,
Will Barton, Gary Harris or Brandon Ingram? Can only pick one for rest of season?
@Slim: @Jamal Schmurray: Slim?!?!?!
@Jamal Schmurray: … What’s your record? Who in your league owns Wilson Chandler? Who in your football league ownes Russell Wilson? Do you play volleyball? What is your opinion of ‘Home Improvement’? What would happen if you held on for one more day?
That’s all I got. Oh and I still haven’t dropped Gary Harris anywhere. I can’t do it. I’d rather lose Winslow or Richardson.
@Jamal Schmurray: @Slim: Haha, Home Improvement is a classic of the 90s!
More on those crazy trade ideas! What if I offer Conley/Beal/RoLo and a 6th for LMA/Justise/3rd?
(He has Brook, too, but I need boards and FG% more than the extra blocks, I think).
@Not Your Average Joe: Hah any time! Mehhhh, it’s no major pieces and I think Beal could get more. I worry about Aldridge DNPs and Justise is taking so long to heal
Best to stash short term?
MCW, Harris, Richardson, Warren, Young?
Seeing Slim’s note, I am guessing Harris or Warren but gave you the full list for grins.
@john coakley: Hah yeah I would take Warren I think, but would go JRich 2 and Harris 3
Should I consider giving up giannis hassan and Fournier for curry Dwight Howard and Derrick rose?
@Jeremy: You get the best in the deal, but with Rose hurt and Dwight such a risk… Ehhhh I dunno, I probably wouldn’t
Will you guys drop RoLo for Dwight Powell?
Also, sell high on Barton? Any PG/SG I can target for Dragic+Barton? I can pick-up either Harris or JRich after.
Thanks!
@NameNotFound: i wouldnt drop rolo for powell. id throw that dragic barton trade at a kemba or isaiah thomas and see what happens
@Jake: Yeah, I think so too. RoLo is pretty boring though. Haha.
@Jake: @NameNotFound: Yeah hold Rolo. Still gonna be some bumps for Powell.
I like that IT2 idea. I would shoot higher though like Kemba or Kyrie, but I like that route!
i just traded Gordon Hayward/Brook Lopez for John Wall/Chandler Parsons
what do you think?
@David: I think I’d like to be in your league. I’ve been trying to land John Wall for weeks on end to no avail.
@Doctor G:
I know tell me about it lol! My next target is Draymond Green. Is it crazy to let go of Paul George for him?
@Doctor G: @David: Looks like about an even trade, Hayward looks great. Def worried about Brook long term. I think I like it though!
And nope, I think PG13 and Dray are right about even, PG13 has some injuries but Dray might get late DNPs, all is about even there for me ROS, and if you are good in Pts/3s, I like Dray for sure!
PatPat or Mirotic?
@Tyler: Short term, Pit Pat, ROS I would say mirotic
Hey JB!! Would you consider trading not-so-big Al Horford for Drummond given the make up of my team (meaning I already have DJ, haha). 12 team H2H Keeper (keep 3). It would complicate my keeper status though since as of now I’d prolly keep KD, Al, and Sap.
Guards: Holiday, Payton, Lin (IL), Sergio, Oladipo, Smart, Tyreke (IL)
Fwds: KD, Gallo, TJ (IL), Parsons (IL), DeMarre
Bigs: Millsap, Horford, DJ
It probablyyyy makes sense for this season, but again the keeper thing has me worried a smidge. Its only keep 3 so I don’t think I want to have to keep one of DJ or Drumm without the other. Or is that not a biggie? Thanks a bunch pal!!
@Doctor G: Hey man! Actually yeah, i like that deal given you’re trending towards a FT punt! Al is def your 3rd keeper, so KD Millsap is still a great core. Maybe you can consolidate into a better 3rd keeper as the trade deadline nears, and avoid keeping Drum
Would you allow me to vent right now? Hah. How can the nuggets say a few days ago that Jokic will miss a couple more games then he’s suddenly effin healthy. Mann, I wasn’t able to put him in the lineup!! 14/11/3/0/1 and 4/4 from the foul line. Dude, if I lose the cats points by like 9 or rebounds by just 5, I’d be pissed as f.
Hayward’s been unreal lately, makes me wanna think that I kind of made the right decision by not accepting the offer of Dipo and Jabari for him. Hah He’s been crazy good, especially from the foul line, and has also managed to contribute multiple steals and treys in his last 4. Will he be able to keep this up? Man who knows, but I’m going ride it out till the very end. And isn’t he in his contract year? He’s out there to prove something. Hah And the Jazz as a team has been great, too. Hayward’s got to make the west allstar lineup!
I’ve been pleased with Schroder’s game thus far, too. Dude’s been able to keep his assists high and field goal % decent and his turnovers low. If he could just provide muliple steals per game, man I’d be the happiest man alive, but I really can’t complain right now. Keep it up Schrod!
@Dante Green:
I was kind of worried at how Aminu’s return could affect Harkless game in a bad way, but now I can say it really did not affect Hark that much. Harkless’ oint production has been low (11, 11) since Aminu’s return but that’s only because he wasn’t making them like he usually does, but the attempts are still there, so that’s still alright. And I would honestly like to commend him for his steal contribution lately! Keep swipin, my friend.
@Dante Green:
I’m giving Nurk another game before I consider cutting ties with him. I know I shoulda done that a long time ago but the guy is just too talented to drop. With Jokic’s emergence I won’t be asking Nurkic to provide the numbers he spoiled his owners with during the first weeks of the season, but a serviceable line like 8/7/2/1/1.5 a night will make me wanna to still hold on.
@Dante Green: Hah of course man, what we’re here for and what i wrote about this morning – constructive therapy!
Def made the right call holding Hayward! Using our handy-dandy Razzball player pages and looking at the contract details at the bottom – he’s signed through 2017: http://basketball.razzball.com/player/1000833/Gordon+Hayward/
Schroder getting steals, wooooo! Agree on hark too, I’ve come around!
Agree if Nurk could consistently do that, it would be baller!
Hah my team name is Dr. Härris and the Analrapists… Immediately Googled “Tobias Harris Funke” after drafting him in the hopes that someone had made a sweet mashup picture, and sure enough:
@The Gintern: Hahahaha YESSSSS! That is a great bit of photoshopping, love it! Awesome team name
Slim, JB, others,
Rest of season value question – Nurkic or Dwight Powell…
@Big Baby’s Lovechild: Ugh. I’ll lean nurkic because the ceiling is higher, but in my opinion, both are tough to hold in 12ers
