Tracking Rudy Gobert‘s path to the NBA has been movie worthy.  After an accident at his former job at the local steel mill, Rudy had Jon Favreau (he really could be French!) keep his grades up in exchange for Rudy helping Jonny out with the ladies.  Gobert almost gave up on his dream for basketball, but Charles S. Dutton gave a heartfelt speech on BEING REAL!  Utah fans tried carrying Gobert off the court chanting “Rudy!  Rudy!” after that win against the Spurs last Tuesday, but it was a big hazard to the overhead lights.

Derrick Favors‘ ankle turned into a kankle over the weekend, but luckily X-rays were negative and he’s day-to-day.  No reason for the lowly Jazz to throw him out there gimpy.  Monsieur Elbow time!  Filling in for Favors on Friday night, Rudy had one of the best games of his young career for 9/11/4/1/5 shooting 2-2 FG and 5-6 FT.  Followed it up with a start last night next to Enes Kanter for 7/9/0/2/3 in 31 minutes.  Playing with the big boys!  A wingspan that would make a pterodactyl jealous, Gobert should murder blocks for you if you’re able to stream him through the couple starts he’s likely to get this week.  No timetable for Favors, but big men + kankles = John Goodman.  I mean, not good for a speedy return.

Boy did the Fantasy God of Injuries not get enough human sacrifices over the weekend!  This might turn out to be the most depressing NBA recap I’ve ever written.   Stay positive JB!  Stay positive JB!  Thanks inner monologue…  Any other advice to help me get through today’s news?  Well, remember when in Interstellar it looked like there was no hope due to another Dust Bowl, then he just finds the newly incarnated NASA – – Wait, how does any of that make sense, they didn’t know he was alive yet he was their best hope!?  And then there’s that giant plot hole with the planet with the – – it just makes no – – uhughuhguhguhguhgug – – – – F, now my inner monologue is injured…  Here’s how the weekend of death went down in NBA action:

BREAKING! – Kings fired Mike Malone, after the Kings were bad without DeMarcus Cousins.  Ummmm, what?  Ugh, so everyone’s favorite Tyrone Corbin is an NBA coach again.  Eesh, I don’t want to work for the Kings now!  Getting fired after a top-10 NBA player gets hurt and they drop a few games?!?!  Poppycock!

Anthony Davis Always rough to see the fantasy MVP miss time.  Had a chest contusion Friday night and sat out yesterday.  Needless to say, my DraftKings team did not do too swell…  X-rays were negative, and even though it doesn’t sound too serious, he doesn’t have a timetable.  I’d bet he’s back within the next game or two, but I’m certainly not an expert with titties.  All I know is they feel like bags of sand…

LaMarcus Aldridge Had an unbelievable first quarter against the Bulls Friday night, dropping 21.  Faded to “only” have 35 Pts on the night, with The Omen dropping 35 in that one too.  Combining with Damian Lillard for 70 Pts on 45 shots, it’s starting to look bleaker and bleaker for Nicolas Batum.  Was 7/5/5/0/0 that game, with a slightly better 14/4/5/3/0 Saturday.  Still, that Saturday line is a beacon of light for Batum lately, and the stats kinda remind me of Corey Brewer.  Ouch.

Corey Brewer – Might as well go right to him, as C-Brew had the best week of his life.  Four games of 26 assists and 16 steals.  Stealin’ & dealin’!  Somehow he’s only owned in 44% of Yahoo leagues.

Derrick Rose After dropping 31 on the Blazers, cooled back off for 14/2/3 in the rout of the Heat.  Remember, this is D-Rose we’re talking about…  As soon as any game seems decided, he’s going to ride the pine harder than John Henson!

Chris Bosh – A big reason the Heat looked so awful.  The Brontosaurus with a calf strain, and those are some long effing calves!  Day-to-day, but it sounds like an accrued injury over time and it could be a few.  Sigh.

Rasual Butler – Well, that was fun.  He’s still getting big minutes as the Wizards 6th man, but no double-digit games the past four.  For deepers though, he hit a trey in every one and he’ll hit all 5 rainbow line stats here and there.

Matt Barnes – I don’t think I’ve thrown a shout (or a water bottle) at him lately, but picking it up like a new neck tat!  26/1/0/2/1 Saturday night, plus losing $25,000 for quoting Rick Ross to some Bucks fans.  The last five games he’s 14.5/4.2/1.5/1.0/0.7 hitting 2.2 treys per.  Saucy.

Nikola Vucevic One of the few bright spots injury-wise this weekend!  Returned Saturday night for an 18/11 dubdub in a shocking 35 minutes.  I guess the back is OK!  Kyle O’Quinn took the hit right in his KOQ with only 12 minutes on the court.  You can move on from the Irishman.  Pour one out for your homie.

Evan Fournier – I was starting to write him off, but had a fantastic weekend of 18/6/4 then 19/5/3.  If anyone else indeed wrote him off, he’s worth checking the wire for.

Tobias Harris “He’s the THIRD Magician you’re talking about?!”  Buzzer, you been beaten!  He’s gonna make so much money his next contract…  “Can someone vacuum the diamonds out of my lungs?!”

Al Horford Well, somebody had a big weekend!  17/7/2/1/2 then 18/8/2/1/2.  Those look similar, no?  Both against the Magic!  Although one opposing O’Quinn and the other Vuc.  Even though the Hawks split the two, still twas the Magic.  Sell high window!

Evan Turner Got a start Friday night for the flu-ridden Avery Bradley, and showed off his Bootstraps’ bootstraps – read, terribleness.  13/2/1/0/0 with no 3PTM and 5 TO.  Must be fun to only get doses vs. second-unis!

Marcus Smart The fantasy gods also spiting Achilles!  Smart’s out tonight with a sore one, and you’re probably not relying on him in virtually any leagues.  Woulda been a fun game to see him run against Philly.

Iman Shumpert Uggghhhh.  Dislocated shoulder, and probably out a month.  The Knicks are just a Gargantua black hole the size of an Interstellar plot hole.  Plus…

J.R. Smith – …had to sit with a sore heel yesterday.  “Heel, J.R., heel!”  Tim Hardaway Jr. has a nice fill-in game as a starter going 18/6/2, but had 5 TO and hit only 1-8 from downtown (4-15 overall FG).  All while Carmelo Anthony is riding a Hoveround to get to and from MSG.  At least it’s a top of the line scooter, with the bajillions he’s making!

Jose Calderon I said he was basura, and he goes out and plays… OK…  9/3/7/3/0 Saturday then  13/5/5 yesterday, hitting a trey in both.  I dunno, seems a lot like “healthy” Jameer Nelson to me.  It’s boring-sauce.

Chandler Parsons Seems like he’s had back issues as far back as I can remember…  Missed Saturday, but sounds like he’ll be back soon.

JaVale McGee I didn’t mention his injury because, well, he wasn’t doing much anyway, but Jusuf Nurkic is looking really good.  9/5/1/2/3 then 10/8/1/1/1 over the weekend, playing 18 minutes in both.  But it certainly helped that…

Kenneth Faried – …sprained his ankle Saturday – was able to return – but sat Sunday.  Still, Nurkic looks like he’s firmly in the rotation.  Take a French dip in that Au Jusuf!

K.J. McDaniels Played through a kankle Friday, but looked awful for 0/2/0/1/1 and 3 TO in 19 minutes so they sat him Saturday.  Then there’s the triumphant return of…

Tony Wroten – …who went 12/3/3/1/0 Friday and held up to play a back-to-back on Saturday, in that epic fail of a loss to the Grizzlies.  They were up like 60 points in the 4th quarter!  Murder, She Wroten for 17/2/5/0/1 hitting 7-11 FG and 2-3 3PTM.  Had his normal dosage of TO-poison, but if your team has built up some tolerance to the toxins, you can give him a run again.

Robert Covington – Everyone go out and Pat Slim on the back.  Now starting, and playing unreal.  20/6/2/3/1 hitting 6 treys Friday then 24/9/1/1/0 Saturday including 11-12 FT.  Whoa!  Is at 92% from the FT line this year, multi-3PTM in seven straight (six of those 3+), and knows kung-fu!  “Neo is The One, Trinity!”  Pretty clearly a must-own.  Certainly looked a hell of a lot better than…

Nerlens Noel …who had just a brutal weekend.  5 TO and no points Friday, then 4/5/1/4/2 Saturday, which is fine, but shot 1-12 over the weekend with 8 TO.  The defensive stats are too good for me to just outright drop him, so I’d try to fearlessly follow Captain N into battle.  Deeper leaguers should shoot some buy lows.

Michael Carter-Williams Tripdub!  16/11/11 with 6 TO per the usual.  JB <3 MCW.

Mason Plumlee There we go!  All he needed was a matchup vs. Philly on Phriday to get jump started.  18/10 then 11/13 over the weekend, but man can the Professor drain your FT!  F minus in FT class!  1-6 Saturday and at 38% on the year.  Needs to study.

C.J. Miles After that crazy 30-point outburst, moved into the starting line-up and bruised his knee.  Sat Saturday, and it looks like Solomon Hill is droppable in almost every league after not doing much temporarily back in the starting line-up.  The Pacers are so over the Hill.

Rodney Stuckey – What in the???!?!!  14/14/2/1/0 against Portland, as he’s obviously a rebound-first guard…

C.J. Watson – Had a big Saturday for 23/1/5 on 8-11 shooting (4-5 3PTM 3-3 FT).  Hey, he’s a semi-useful starting PG in the NBA!  C the J, be the J…

Greivis Vasquez – Well, looks like you can move on from the Twerp.  The move to the bench looks permanent, akin to his uselessness.

Lou Williams I feel like I’ve had to fight an uphill battle to recommend commenters hold onto him, and delivered with a huge weekend of 26/4/3 & 15/1/3 hitting 7 combined treys.  It’ll ebb-and-flow, certainly a higher-end ThrAGNOF, but one I’m holding a little more steadfastly against my normal principles.

Kyle Lowry 11 dimes, 6 steals and 9 TO last night!  Did he steal the ball from himself a few times…?

Goran Dragic Lower back strain near the scaly tail.  Probably nothing too serious, but man did the Suns look atrocious without him, getting blown out by OKC…

Tyler Ennis – …but we got a sight of the Ennis!  Career-high 11 points on 11/3/2 in junk time, but he’s just on the wrong team for dynasties…

Jodie Meeks A longer sight of Meeks!  And as I warned, not too special right now.  12/1/1/1/0 then 6/2/2/4/0 over the weekend in his first two games, shooting a combined 6-19 without hitting a trey (0-4).  The steals are nice, but I think will be bunchy.  And I don’t know if he plays much more than the low-20 minutes we’re seeing right now, especially as DET is 2-0 with him back!

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope My addiction remains intact!  As addicted to KCP as I am to the Serial podcast.  Man that shizz is addicting…  14/5/1/3/0 then 8/2/1, hit 2 treys in both, but the minutes under 30 ceding to that Meeks run.  I’m not married to him in 12ers (i.e. vastly like Lou Williams over him), however he’ll still be useful.

LeBron James Puts up 41, but a mostly Brow-less Pelicans beat the Cavs.  Womp womp.

Tyreke Evans Man, did he have a hell of a weekend!  31/2/10/1/1 in that win against Cleveland then 34/8/5/2/2 in the epic OT afternoon game yesterday against the Warriors.  While I’ve said sell-high multiple times, I’m now going to say SUPER SELL-HIGH!  Took over a huge role sans AD, and if anyone is going to give you top-50 value, I’d pull the trigger.

Shabazz Muhammad Wow, he’s really turning into a reliable scorer!  18/0/3 Friday then the explosion of 28/9/1 last night against the Lakers, taking 21 shots.  Given it’s the Lakers, but dayum!  Nothing else is reliable AND he doesn’t hit 3s, so he is a scoring-only asset.

Lance Stephenson Apparently getting shopped, and as a Hornets… “supporter” (I guess?), I’d love to see him out.  Just not working at all in one of the NBA’s worst FG% backcourt.  Refuses to stop shooting threes, he’s at 16%!  The Josh Smith of guards…

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Even though Gerald Henderson had a buzzer-beating tip in to put Friday’s game into OT, he’s awful.  MKG is a shot in the arm for the Hornets’ explosiveness, and in Saturday’s blowout loss went 15/5/1/1/0.  FT stroke looks so much better (5-6 in that one), and I think it’s time to go ahead and grab him in 12ers.  Going to be starting again soon, love the energy.

Marc Gasol Had a massive weekend including 6 blocks in that Hornets OT W.  “No en mi casa!”

Mike Conley 36/3/9 in an OT-aided line, including a redonk 3-pointer to send it into 5-extra minutes.  He’s good at basketball.

James Harden Tripdub!  24/10/10, with that last rebound a hilarious present from the Nuggets.  Thanks for taking a shot at the end there!  He’s good at basketball.

Trey Burke He’s bad at basketball.  Maybe the most infuriating player in the NBA right now.  Reverted back to the old Burke for a 8:9 AST:TO ratio the last three games.  The four before that, 32:3.  I mean, camon!  Pick a Trey Burke version and stick with it!

Guess the Kobe stat line – Ahhhh, I’ve missed the last few!  Def didn’t forget today!  At Indiana and LAL on a 3-game winning streak.  Gonna go off!  Gimme 35/2/4 on… 29 shots.  Get your guesses in!

Ed Davis Go back to the bench!  Seriously, you were doing more coming off the bench…

Carlos Boozer – 22/13 yesterday.  Better stop playing good off the bench or you’ll never start again, you cry-baby!

Nick Young – 29 on Friday hitting 6 treys, then 2-8 FG 7 Pts on Sunday.  Ahh, to be a ThrAGNOF…

Jeremy Lin 14 assists over the weekend, as maybe the move to the bench is helping him out.   Still not much to trust, other than owning him and sticking through it will probably drive you Linsane.

Shaun Livingston He’s had a really good stretch the last four, with 16 dimes and 8 steals.  Livingston-la vida loca!  Worth some streaming for low-end/low-risk Ast/Stl.

Giannis Antetokounmpo 14+ Pts the past four games, with at least one swat in each.  Remember when his blocks were way behind the 8-ball?  Now at 0.7 a game and off 20/5/3/2/1 against the Clips.  Getting his Freak on!

Dwight Howard Welcome back, Superman!  And hasn’t missed a beat with a 26/13/2/1/3 line and his usual 8-17 FT.  Timofey Mozgov racked up 5 fouls in 14 minutes against him.  Taking down Heathcare.Mozgov like a bad website launch!

#OccupyDraymondGreen – Occupying harder than troops in a foreign invasion.  11/13/5/1/4 in the OT marathon during football yesterday, so I didn’t watch a lot of it!  Bad scheduling, NBA…

Andre Iguodala Out of nowhere with 20 points, but nary an assist.  Eh, eyebrow minorly raised.

Jrue Holiday 30/3/9/5/1 in some nasty ballin’-ness.  Man, the Warriors and the Pels need to play more often!  So much fantasy goodness baked into that cake.

Jeff Adrien – Flip Saunders is flicking us all off.  After that nice game against the Blazers in 26 minutes, back-to-back sub-6 minute appearances.  And shocker!  Lost both of those, while winning vs. Portland…  Like the smell of Canal Street on a hot summer day…  Fishy…

Arron Afflalo – 31/5/1 against the Spurs in a hot shooting game, hitting 4-6 treys.  Nuggets still lost, but hey, they get AA for effort!

Kawhi Leonard Whew, a lot of news and a lot of injuries, so we end on a huge high note.  Double-rainbow!  And after sitting the previous two with a hand bruise, should think about punching some walls right before every game!  18/8/4/5/6 shooting 6-14 FG and 6-6 FT.  Only 1 TO.  What a sendoff game to close out Week 7.

Streamers/Cheap DraftKings Picks:

C.J. Watson (8% owned) – Mentioned above, he’s off a hot game and this is dreamy matchup against the Lakers.  Should be out there in your league, and taking a quick gander at DK, he’s only $5,000 tonight.

Jerryd Bayless (2% owned) – This is obviously a huge roll of the dice, but I could see it pay off for deepers.  Going against the Suns which should be fast-paced/against a smaller line-up, and I’ll always want to support a fellow JB!  He’s been on a nice run the past 4 in a deep league sorta way, and only $3,800 on DK.  Off 11/7/2, has a three in 3 of 4, and his FT shooting is astounding.  46-47 on the year, which doesn’t matter as much for DK, but might get a nice boost there in category leagues.

I hope everyone had solid wins in week 7, and enjoyed a great weekend!  See ya tomorrow!

mcbob was dropped, lou williams and boozer are available. my droppables are Burks and meeks. What moves would you make?

Should mention that my team is last in 3s (Joe Johnson, Lowry, Harden, Kawhi, carroll as my main sources). My team has some injuries/stinkers in brolo, bogut, lance, and west but managed to win against an inactive team this weak haha

    • marimon says:
      (link)

would be using 6th WW to claim mcbob (available 16th)

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@marimon: I’m losing Meeks for Lou Will. I think a couple commenters asked about those two late last week and I stuck with Sweet Lou even before a nice weekend. Hit 7 treys too!

        • marimon says:
          (link)

@JB Gilpin: No love for mcbob then?

        • marimon says:
          (link)

@JB Gilpin: Just saw the news: torn right lateral meniscus and out indefinitely. Might require surgery. That answers my question 😛

@marimon: Yup, rough break there for Miami!

  2. Dirk's Digglers says:
    (link)

considering offering my Nowitzki for his #OccupyDraymondGreen as Green putting up similar value and has superior playoff schedule … lesser points offset by steals and blocks … what do you think? would probably try and get him to throw in AmirJohnson …

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Dirk’s Digglers: Wow, indeed is kinda close! I think I would need more than Amir as a sweetener though, and couldn’t quite do it straight up. But only barely more

      • Dirk's Digglers says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: call me craycray (or perhaps draydray) but pulled the trigger giving him Nowitzki straight up (being top of the table means teams are becoming wary of trading with me so have to be careful of trying to ask for too much and I didn’t really need Amir and the rest of his players are either too good to ask for or rubbish) … being a weekly H2H those extra games in the playoffs means the numbers aren’t even close (given that both players continue to produce at their current levels) plus there is no risk of rest DNPs for Green … this trade now means I have turned my draft day Tobias Harris into Draymond Green who is outperforming him and has the dream playoff schedule

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Dirk’s Digglers: Def not CrayCray or DrayDray as I mentioned, I think it def is close. Weekly H2H def supports it more. And Tobias for Draymond is Draymond for me, factoring in terrible ORL schedule. I do caution we don’t know the David Lee factor, and Green is still only breaking out. Dirk is a little safer production wise, not injury wise. I wouldn’t fault doing the move at all, but I like Dirk more

    Heya man!
    20 team h2h 13 Cat(w/off rbs, ft%, fg%…)

    PG: Lowry, Nelson
    SG: Jimmy B. S. Blake
    SF: Durant, Hayward
    PF: Teletovic, Covington, Sullinger
    C: O’Quinn, Sanders, T. Zeller

    IR: Henson

I’m looking to trade my Zeller and Covington for Draymond Green. Am i giving to much?

    • Bye Felicia says:
      (link)

      @Woo: nope, you’d be stealing #Occupy

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:

@Woo: Yo! Yup agree, while Covington is playing out of his mind, def taking DrayDray

  4. Mari says:
    (link)

Would you trade Anthony Davis and Kemba Walker for John Wall and Blake Griffin?

Also, in descending order, who do you prefer? D. Carroll, Amar’e or Amir?

    Thanks!

    • Bye Felicia says:
      (link)

@Mari: I wouldn’t give Davis for both of them. He’s going to finish top 2 in fantasy

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Mari: Nope, it would cost the GDP of the US to get me to give up Davis. Those 3 guys for right now, or for ROS? ROS probably Amir, Carroll, Amar’e

    • Mari says:
      (link)

@Mari: You guys must think I’m crazy for even entertaining the thought.

      • JB Gilpin

@Mari: Hah not at all! Just think he finishes as a clear #1

  5. Hype says:
    (link)

Hey man would you drop Tjones for any of the ff:
    Gobert
    Teletovic
    Patterson
    Lin
    David Lee (waivers)
    B.Wright

Or should I stay the course on TJones and keep stashing? I also have 3 other inj in BroLo Rubio McDaniels.

    • Bye Felicia says:
      (link)

@Hype: lose McDaniel for Golbert while favors is out. He’s the stash. Especially if he gets close to starters mins. I’m thinking Kant-ERRRR will be riding the pine soon. Unless Utah’s coach wants to get fired. Haha
Or you can drop Jones and pick him back up later.
Or, or, drop both and grab Patterson & Golbert like I would 🙂

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Hype: Yeah def too many injuries to be stashing Jones. I would hope to get Lee off the waivers and Gobert for now dropping Tjones and McDaniels.

      • Hype says:
        (link)

        @JB Gilpin:
Don’t you guys think McDaniels’ upside is worth the wait? Or is he just a flash in the pan?
        Shawne Williams available too, btw.
I already dropped TJones for Gobert. Should I still drop KJ McDaniels for David Lee(waivers), Patterson or Shawne Williams?
Im thinking try and claim Lee of waivers and if it doesnt work out then keep KJ McD?

BroLo out another week, Teletovic also worth the add?

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Hype: Nah because I don’t know when/if the Sixer give him 30+ minutes on a consistent basis again. Trying for Lee. Even though he doesn’t offer the flashy St/Blk upside, I think he will be solid when healthy. I agree, if I don’t get him then holding. Nah for Teletovic, only real upside is if he’s hot and hits a lot of 3s

  6. Slim

    Slim says:
    (link)

Boy did I dodge a bullet with Nurkic. I offered him to 3 or 4 people in the REL and I guess no one thought his upside was worth what I wanted back. I think every offer I made would have been in the other persons favor as soon as next year, and if Nurkic keeps up the minutes (he’s easily the best defensive big man on the Nuggets roster) then an argument could be made they might have gotten the better deal for this year too. Needless to say Nurkic is entirely off the trading block. Him and Adams are going to be set into my 2 center spots for the next 10 years.

I’m having trouble accepting not having Covington in the REL. I have him in both of my RCLs so I have plenty of stock in him but still… The guy who has him has me by the gonads if he wanted to deal him to me.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Slim: Yeah Nurkic indeed looks good. Turning into your favorite player! You’d give up Nurkic for Covington right? My trepidation is Nurkic’s $16 price tag, which could end up being more than cheap, but still waiting to see

      • Slim

        Slim says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Nope. I would not.

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Slim: Hmmm ok, I thought Covington at $1 for Nurkic at $16 might be enough for ya

          • Slim

            Slim says:
            (link)

@JB Gilpin: Just not the same caliber of prospect. If Nurkic was getting 30+ minutes on the sixers how good would he look? Nah, I like Covington for what he’s doing now but his keeper status is going to be dependent on where he plays, and who he plays with.

Oh and $16 is completely reasonable considering my expectations. Money has to get spent somewhere. From the looks of it he could give me that value this year in 20 someodd minutes. McGee out of the picture is all it took.

            • JB Gilpin

              JB Gilpin says:
              (link)

@Slim: Hah yeah good point for Nurkic if he was on the Sixers. Be like a Bosnian Brow. Nickname….?

  7. Dally says:
    (link)

Hey mate, just wondering what you’d think bout dropping Noel for Covington ? I’m loving the consistent d stats but just not picking up how I’d imagine he would . Rest of my 10man 10cat (min and DD – no turnovers) team is looking like:
    Curry
    Lowry
    Walker
    Beal
    Markieff
    Wilson chandler
    J smoove
    Millsap
    Gortat
    Collison
    Sullinger
    Noel
    favors
This is doing my head in haha so any advice would be appreciated !!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Dally: I couldn’t do it. Especially with DD a stat AND no TO, both of which help Noel’s case. I think you gotta try a 2-for-1 deal to get an empty spot for Covington

  8. Michael says:
    (link)

    hey JB,
i don’t know if it’s pure luck or not i dropped galliarni for Robert Covington when he was still at 5 percent owned. is this guy legit? and i recently just dropped evan turner for matt barnes, don’t know whats your opinion on matt barnes

    • Bye Felicia says:
      (link)

@Michael: As long as he gets starting mins he seems to be? Neither of those moves are going to come back to haunt or hurt you. I’m fine with both.

@Michael: Def like the Gallo drop for Covington more than the Fournier drop. Fournier is looking better, but he and Barnes I imagine will be close to equal in overall value. I think I’d rather Fournier, but very close. Yeah, Wilson Chandler playing so well makes Gallo very tough to own. I think Covington will have some ebbs and flows, but agree with above, as long as minutes are there he should play well enough

    Hi JB,
    How is it going?
Needless to say I became addicted to your blogs….Amazing work!

Do you remember I’m the guy playing in that particular Dynasty Fantasy format?
Last time you suggested me go hunting 4 a Big Man (Favors your choice, Sully & K-Love the other 2 I selected) using R-Jax as trade chip.
The strategy failed miserably as none of the owners of the aforementioned players accepted my (more than fair) trade proposals.
Therefore I decided to find my Big man on the FA market making the (now looking smart) move of adding D-Mote.
Now here’s how my team is looking with stats from the last 10 games:

And here’s my Salary cap structure:

Considered I’m currently sitting @ 3 games behind the latest playoff spot, what suggestions would you give me?
Thank you so much looking forward your precious advice.

@VamosErik88: Thanks so much for reading man, really appreciate that!

So admittedly, salary keep leagues are not my strongest forte, not even in one right now. Looks like your bigs have improved through waiver adds, although D-Mo isn’t a long term guy whenever TJones is back. Maybe move Batum for someone? I’m not really sure how your format works, but he’d be usable for someone… Batum+Jackson for an improvement? Be sure to upsell R-Jax’s upside for next year as we assume he’ll be starting somewhere else. Have no idea if that helps, but yeah let me know a little more about your league as I’m a sal cap novice!

        • VamosErik88 says:
          (link)

          @JB Gilpin:
          Thank you so much man!

Yes I know D-Mo probably isn’t a long term prospect, but I think he has gained at least a chance to wait till TJ is back and see what happens.
As for the suggestion I had in mid to do exactly the same. You may not be a dynasty expert but it seems you understood immediately which are the mechanism of my league.
Batum is playing very inefficiently right now: too much minutes but not a big contribution. R-Jax instead looks like lost with Westy and KD taking all the show for themselves. Moreover they have both a 12M contract.
Who should I target in your opinion? Is it good to target a wing(G/F/GF) or should i try to add another Big Man (C/CF)?
My idea was to pack them and try to get a GF of high level.
Maybe the best opportunity now available on the market is Kawhi. His team is currently sitting dead last in our league and probably his owner would like to make some changes. Do you think I may get a shot at him with Batum + R-Jax?

          • JB Gilpin

            JB Gilpin says:
            (link)

@VamosErik88: Cool, great minds thinking alike! I agree, I was thinking wing too. Love that offer for Kawhi for those 2! Is Kawhi keepable for year 2 or 3? That would be icing on the cake

            • VamosErik88 says:
              (link)

              @JB Gilpin:
              Definitely man!
Yep! Kawhi has a 3y/20M contract so I think is the ideal tgt.
This way I’ll improve my team while gaining a cap flexibility too, as I give away combined 24M (12+12) and get 20.
Wish me good luck for the trade.
I’ll use all the tips you gave me to pump up R-Jax and Batum.

  10. Clos says:
    (link)

Hey jb what’s going on.. So ended up making that trade with Paul but it ended up being my cousins, Lowry and jrue for Paul, bosh and Collison..

    Paul
    Collison
    Knight
    Burks
    Pbev
    Draymond
    Markeiff
    Bosh
    Aldridge
    Taj
    Favors
    Marc gasol
    Mozgov

What do you think about that team? The trade goes through tomorrow

    • Clos says:
      (link)

@Clos: and do you think I should drop Mozgov for covington? Or anyone on my team for covington?

      • Bye Felicia says:
        (link)

@Clos: Mosgov or Burks. Personally Id lose Mosgov

    • Bye Felicia says:
      (link)

@Clos: You should be in 1st or 2nd place with that squad. It’s pretty effn beast

      • Clos says:
        (link)

@Bye Felicia: Yeah I’m in 1st right now by 9.5..cousins injury has been slowing me down a bit and a couple weeks ago I had him, gasol used to have Jones on the team and Pbev down so that slowed me down a lot but it’s been a pretty good season thanks to the rankings jb and slim put out

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Clos: Thanks for the nice comment on our ranks! 🙂 A few misses, but it’s been a solid year.

Trade looks to be about even, but narrowly swings your way since you take out the risk of Cousins not being himself whenever he comes back. Nice lead you’ve got too! And yea, I’m losing Mozgov for Covington as well

          • Clos says:
            (link)

@JB Gilpin: alright cool.. Already dropped, picked up and put in the lineup for tonight.. Thanks again!

Would you move Kobe for Bledsoe straight up if you only had Trey Burke & Jru for your PG’s. I own Durant too so I don’t need kobes points or terrible %

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Bye Felicia: Yup, agree with that assessment I’d do it!

  12. I REALLY DONT LIKE MCW. says:
    (link)

    14 Teams, H2H, 9 cat.

    PG: MCW, IT3
SG: Monta Ellis (PG), Oladipo (PG), KCP
SF: Kawhi (SG), TJones (PF), McDaniels
    PF: Ibaka (C), Millsap (C), Kieff Morris (C), O’Quinn (C)
    C: Dieng

Thoughts? Really would like to trade MCW, Dipo and Kieff. Who would you recommend targeting?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@I REALLY DONT LIKE MCW.: Hah, you should like MCW more in categories! Let’s see, def wanna target assists if moving one of your PG. Big man stats look pretty solid, although a few boards would help too… You trying to move all 3 of them in one trade, or parse out into several? I’d try to use two for an elite PG like Wall

      • I REALLY DONT LIKE MCW. says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Monta and Kieff for John Wall though?

  13. Hamtime says:
    (link)

    1. Traded my monta+Tross for holiday+olynyk in a 16m/11cat – right move?

    2. No idea what happened to hump last few games. is Nurkic a better option in an extremely thin FA pool?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Hamtime: 1. Ummm seems about even, love Holiday. Depends on need for a big man, but I think it’s solid. 2. Hmmmm. I’ll stick with Humphries because of the minutes, I think Nurkic is still going to ebb and flow with usage

  14. Steve says:
    (link)

Would you drop Calderon for Covington? I’m assuming yes?

    • Bye Felicia says:
      (link)

@Steve: I would, I gave up on him in 3 leagues a week or so ago.

    • JB Gilpin

        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Yea i feel good about the Black Mamba tonight…whats your thoughts on Tobias in a dynasty..im getting a ton of offers for him…you think hes a sell high guy or a hold. (obviously almost anybody is tradeable for the right price)

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@JeF With 1 F: Generally a hold, still so so young. He’s a great dynasty guy to own

  17. Joe says:
    (link)

So I’m scared of Melo’s knee and his feelings on the triangle. And Tyreke is going to be good but I agree he’s at his all time super-saiyan-sell price. I obv. can’t give you the rosters of every team in my league (and I wouldn’t, unless I was bringing some JB AND beer), but should I target any of the following players with some combination involving Melo and Tyreke (plus maybe Noel or Taj)?

A.Davis, Harden, Bosh, Love, Batum, Ibaka.

My team currently suffers most from a dearth of big man stats and, of course, too many TOs (thanks MCW).

10-team, 11-man rosters, 3-keepers (3-year max), h2h league. Number next to player indicates round drafted; players can be kept at a cost of one-round-higher than they were acquired.

    MY TEAM

    Melo (1), Durant (2), Conley (3), M.Gasol (4), Matthews (5), Holiday (6), Noel (7), Tyreke (7), MCW (8), IT2 (9), Gibson (w)

    • Joe says:
      (link)

      @Joe:

I modify this slightly to simply ask whether offering Melo plus Matthews, in a 2-for-1, is overpaying for Harden or A.Davis.

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Joe: Def not overpaying for Harden or Brow. I just don’t know if those owners will take it, but certainly worth throwing out the offers. Tyreke in the 7th might actually be more appealing than Matthews and I would do the combos using Evans as well. Def avoiding Love due to the playoff schedule, and Batum is scary. Ibaka a little scary too. Bosh while hurt might be a good buy low, but he would have to throw in another really good big. Bosh+another big for Melo+Evans? Might be something I’d check out. Hah, would love some beers and talk fantasy!

  18. dom says:
    (link)

Hey jb hope you had a good weekend

Oladipo has been putting up better numbers than your boy b knight lately. Who should I start tonight? Volume scoring is the least of my concerns

Also what’s your opinion of gorgui dieng?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@dom: Thanks man! Looking like I’m making the Football finals in 3 of 5 leagues, possibly a 4th. But looking forward to it ending to 100% focus on hoops. Dieng’s hitting those defensive stats pretty hard, I like him a good bit with Pek out. Top 70-80 or so overall for the next month? Tough matchup Oladipo vs. Lowry, I do think I would play him over KNight though – Bucks are so inconsistent with their flow

  19. miles proudfoot says:
    (link)

Hey how’s it going?! As you said THarris has been killing it but I’m thinking of trying g to trade him for due to the magics playoff schedule. Who would you say is someone equivalent to him? Thanks!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@miles proudfoot: Yup that’s good foresight, ummmm Dryamond Green? greta playoff sched! Or if you need PG or C help, one of those guys in the 50s or so in overall value could be a big help

      • miles proudfoot. says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: great idea. I’m thinking of offering my Dirk and Harris for his Kawhai and Draymond. If you think I’m reaching would throw in my Bledsoe and ask for his Collison. Too much either side? Just thinking about those playoffs that I have every intention of killing.

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@miles proudfoot.: Nah I like both of those! Plus Dirk could wear down, but I’m not hugely concerned on that.

          • miles proudfoot. says:
            (link)

@JB Gilpin: well that didn’t work. I’m thinking of asking for Favors, could use the blocks and Utah has a much better playoff schedule. My trade offers haven’t been too successful, perhaps I’m asking for too much?

            • JB Gilpin

              JB Gilpin says:
              (link)

@miles proudfoot.: I like Favors a lot as a target too for those playoffs. I mean, most trade offers start as asking too much and there’s negotiation, I guess your league mates like rejecting all angry haha

              • miles proudfoot. says:
                (link)

@JB Gilpin: haha thanks for the advice man.

  20. Johnny says:
    (link)

    Yoo guys,

thinking of offering Pau + other guy for Marc… who do you think I should throw in the mix.. KJ, Pbev, Brewer, Noel?

    Kobe: 24/6/6

    • Johnny says:
      (link)

@Johnny: Also just proposed JJ Redick for Sully, which will probably get denied but would you add any of the above guys with JJ for Sully?

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Johnny: Pau + either KJ or Brewer is more than fine. Brewer off the week of his life would be how I’d start. JJ+KJ for Sully, I’d be good with that. I dunno about Brewer in that one though… Nice Kobe guess!

        • Johnny says:
          (link)

@JB Gilpin: awesome thanks man… our playoffs schedule is early and Boston, Memphis, and GS have strong schedules so i’m playing around with trades to pad my team with those players

          • JB Gilpin

            JB Gilpin says:
            (link)

@Johnny: Yup always a good plan!

  21. Shaft says:
    (link)

Do you like Covington over KJ McDaniels ROS?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Shaft: A lot depends on needs, but yeah I think I’d take Covington, think his role is more assured, which is shocking from wherre we were 2 weeks ago

      • Shaft says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Thanks JB. I just love KJ’s production with SG eligibility. someone grabbed Beverley before I could. But they dropped Faried, so he is on the wire now. Is he worth grabbing over KJ or Covington?

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Shaft: Yeah I did too, unfortunately he’s banged up and with Wroten back… Whewwww Faried is close man. I think I would for upside over KJ, but if I needed 3s, I’;d keep Covington over him at this point

  22. Dommattingly says:
    (link)

I know you’re not too high on Chalmers, but his production has been decent. Especially steals. With Wade active tho, he’s not playing heavy mins. Should I grab Matt Barnes while he’s hot? Who has better ROS? 12team H2H. THANKS!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Dommattingly: I think if Barnes is out there, I’d roll out hot hands. So I would get Barnes and get ready for another new one down the road. Any time!

Durant finally comes back and Boogie and Vucevic go down for me. Vucevic comes back and Bosh goes down. I can’t get a good flow with my team at all!

I picked up McBobs over the weekend in hopes that he would play, but he’s also injured again. I picked up Tyler Zeller for some big man stats and Motiejunas for potential since he looked fine with Dwight coming back. I have KJ, but I’m now willing to lose him after his dud. Any moves to be made from the waivers or hold?

    On waivers:
    Covington
    DeMarre
    PitPat
    Gobert
    McLemore

    Thanks!

    • kisses says:
      (link)

@kisses: Well, McBobs needs surgery and looks to be out for a while/rest of season. So I have to lose McBobs and potentially KJ now.

  24. Hamtime says:
    (link)

    1. Would you trade Batum for favors? Who is a realistic target given his name value?

    2. Due to injuries, my team with AD kawhi lowry Batum etc is sitting in 9th place. Feel like blowing it up. Should I look to trade Ad for harden or steph and build around them? Current team 14m/9cat:

Pg/SG – Pbev, rubio, collison, lowry
    SG/sf – Batum, Kjmcd, kawhi
    Sf/PF – carroll
    Pf/c – AD, gobert, hump, r Lopez

    3. Is shawne williams a must add now the both bosh (weeks) and Mcbob (season) are out?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Hamtime: 1. Yeah, if you needed a big that’s good. Batum might only bring back top 40-50 talent. 2. Nahhhh I’d keep Brow to build around. 3. I don’t think I’d say must add. He’s a very low ceiling guy. I’d hold who you have still

  25. KD Owner says:
    (link)

craymond green is playing is ass off.

even if i think he can hold legit value, definitely more than david lee, inevitably wouldn’t Lee cut into his minutes decreasing his average stats overall? D Lee averaged at least 18 and 9 the past 3 years and would get hot some nights.

I’m thinking of selling high on Green. hopefully for a top 40-50 value. should I shop around?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@KD Owner: Top 40-50 value is very reasonable as a sell high, but I think Green stays about as solid. LIke someone sold for Conley, as much as I buy Green I’m still taking Conley!

Hey JB! I need your help.

Im doing OK in my league (5th out of 14 teams). Thing is i was doing great up until the moment MCW and his extremely inefficient ways returned to action. I was doing fine in percentages and turnovers and now i’m losing those categories every week. Him and Curry in the same team are a guaranteed loss in TO’s.

Should I trade him for a more efficient player? I think so but i want your opinion. And if so, what player(s) should I aim for?

    This is my team:

    PG- Holiday
    PG- MCW
    PG/SG- Curry
    PG/SG- Burks
    SG/SF- KJ
    SF/PF- Covington
    SF/PF- Tobias
    SF/PF/C- Markieff
    PF/C- McBob
    PF/C- Horford
    PF/C- Nowitzki
    PF/C- Taj

Thanks a lot. Keep up the awesome job.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Jorge: Yeah I could see MCW +Curry being an issue. I still think those will swing your way some weeks. If I sold, it would have to be for a very solid option. Given needs… Maybe go after Conley? Might take a sweetener and his %s are gonna regress a tad, but an idea. I think you still need assists giving up MCW, so I would look at good % PG

@jcg: Dumb? Absolutely not, he has faded on a team that does not run anyone not named Kobe consistently. But I think Hill is still the guy to own, even his upside is on par with all those guys, like he could go the last 30 games 18/12 2 blocks or something if he gets it together

  32. Mari says:
    (link)

Looks like George Hill is about to return. Would you prefer him over Wilson Chandler and J Sully?

    • Mari says:
      (link)

@Mari: or over Greg Monroe (not a big fan of Monroe but I’ve been stuck with him)

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Mari: Hill is def looking ownable now, the only guy I’d think about is Monroe if I was solid in Pts/Reb.

        • Mari says:
          (link)

@JB Gilpin: or I could drop Giannis, but I think he’ll have better games than Monroe

          • JB Gilpin

            JB Gilpin says:
            (link)

@Mari: Nah not with Jabari getting hurt tonight, should shore up Giannis’ minutes concern

Batum has lead me to two championships, i’ve always watched his stats closely (i keep him every year) and he’s just off. he’s been off since the end of last year. too bad that guy used to be a huge asset.

also very sick/tired of jordan hill. he a drop for pat beverly/covington/etc?

you like pat beverly or covington more?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@also: Yup agree, just not as involved overall. Man, I like all 3 of those guys but I think I’d have to hold Hill. PBev very very close, and if you were loaded up front I could see going Pbev

  34. Lasandro says:
    (link)

Holy crap, I just blue myself! Managed to trade away my kemba for Drummond in my shallow 14-catter, following his beastly game today. Thoughts? Better move for me ROS? Some talk about Monroe maybe being traded away fromDET but even if this doesn’t happen, I’m looking to andre for high % FGs and brds and d stats. So right now my team looks like:

    KD
    Millsap
    Drummond
    MCW
    Lawson
    Taj Gibson (FA pickup)
    Ibaka
    Kieff
    W Chandler
    Vuc
    Oladipo
    Gortat

Thinking I need a scoring wing off the waivers. Should I go ahead and drop taj for Joe Johnson or Robert Covington?

    • Lasandro says:
      (link)

@jb Gilpin: haha he took Johnson off the are as I was typing this!!

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Lasandro: “No, you’re thinking of ‘The Blue Man Group'” haha. Nice, love it! Well done. Stupid people taking Johnson! Ehhhh, I know Covington seems to fit a need better, but I’d hold Taj.

        • Lasandro says:
          (link)

@JB Gilpin: oh look at all these juicy leading man parts, JB! Well as dated below I grabbed burks. However, once taj is available again in a couple of days, and if Noah is still banged up, I’m happy to swap them two again. Alec will help me with some pts and fts.
Hopefully he’ll contribute low end assists and boards too

So further thoughts on Drummond? Shall I be expecting something nice outta him?

          • JB Gilpin

            JB Gilpin says:
            (link)

@Lasandro: Yeah man, solid 18/13 tonight and 50% or better from the field in 6 of the last 7. Only 2 TO the last 6 games. Tons of steals. Gonna be oh, so nice… “A million fucking diamonds!”

            • Lasandro says:
              (link)

@JB Gilpin: now let’s find me a hospital and see if they can vacuum these diamonds from out of my lungs.. This way..

So burks seems nice and all but would it be a safer bet picking up Meeks for scoring, fts, and other nice stats conducive to 14-cats?

              • JB Gilpin

                JB Gilpin says:
                (link)

@Lasandro: Haha Tobias always going to the Hospital… Nahhhh I like Burks more, I just don’t trust Meeks’ role yet. Had a fluke game yest in junk time

              • Lasandro says:
                (link)

@jb Gilpin: so lookin at my squad above, should I go ahead and drop burks to hold Rubio, who I let go ages ago after his injury? How long do you think it’ll be? If he’s back in two weeks or so, I think he may be worth a stash in my 8 teamer. He was so good for me till he fell
Also, why is dipo struggling on offense so much? I don’t like this trend of Harris being the main permiter weapon for them. Dipo should be averaging 6ft attempts a game easy

              • Lasandro says:
                (link)

@jb Gilpin: and if pbev gets moved to boston, is he a must add? Burks is currently my only FA flier spot on my squad

                • JB Gilpin

                  JB Gilpin says:
                  (link)

@Lasandro: Yup I would! Rubio yeah might only be 2-3 weeks. Comin’ up quick. Probably 3 weeks if I had to guess, they have no reason to rush him. I just got Dipo in my most important league so watched some tonight, a lot of rim outs and tough rolls. Bradley played good D on him some too. Agree, he needs to slash more. I think it comes though. I’d rather PBev over Burks too, even with HOU, he’s bveen a beast. But Rubio over Pbev. PS thanks for the tweet!

    • Lasandro says:
      (link)

@jb Gilpin: picked up Alec Burks

  35. TSoft says:

should i trade melo for either Klay Thompson or Favors stright up? 12 team h2h 10catg(double double). I need help with blocks more than 3s but Thompson seems a better value.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@TSoft: Nahhhh, I couldn’t for either one, would need a sweetener.

  36. Michael says:
    (link)

Got offered Anthony Davis for Westbrook and Kobe OR for westbrook and derozan

    Team

    PG Westbrook, Dragic
    SG. Kobe, Derozan, Meeks
    SF. KJ McDan, Kawhi, Moietuinas
    PF. Faried, Taj, Covington
    C. Olynyk, Millsap, Ibaka

assists would be down of course but i see norris cole on the wire(shabazz on d league now). Or maybe i tank assists? I got a mancrush on davis since i won the finals with him last year. What do u think?

    • Michael says:
      (link)

      @Michael:

What about Westbrook, Kobe, Kelly O for Anthony Davis and Teague

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Michael: Def doing the Westbrook/DeRozan one in a heartbeat! I think that’s my favorite, but I like all 3 offers, Davis is just that good and in a perfect buy low opportunity given he’s a tad banged up

Drop Lin and Pick up George Hill?

is Calderon worth holdng in 12ers?

    • JB Gilpin

      @SMLV1: Nope! 🙁

  39. Hype says:
    (link)

Hey JB, just my luck. RoLo got injured. I already have his twin BroLo and Rubio on my bench.

Is he droppable in 12ers for someone like Brandan Wright or Patterson?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Hype: Yes to both, unfrotunately… In the recap out in a couple hours, I am saying he’s dumpable in all 10ers or 12ers, I’d grab any hot player for him

  40. Michael says:
    (link)

Should I get rid of Faried already? Injuries all day now plus terrible production and low minutes even when healthy. 9 Cat H2h.

Kaman is on the wire now that Rolo is done, Norris Cole is on the wire (napier gone), Shawne Williams(Bosh/McBob out for who knows how long), Morrow, Nurkic, Mirza,Neal, Zaza.

My team could use FG%, Rebounds (im poor in both) and 3’s and assists (pretty good in both but not elite). I’m really good in just about every other category.

    • Michael says:
      (link)

@Michael: kaman is taken now. Jeremy Lin is now on waivers tho.

      • Michael says:
        (link)

        @Michael:
Larry Sanders just got dropped as well lol. I kinda wanna nab not sure who to drop

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Michael: Tough to lose Faried… I mighta for Kaman, but I don’t think I could for Sanders right now. He’s been so so brutal

  41. Dante Green says:
    (link)

Yo JB what can ya say about Jmeeks? His fg is just under 40 but I’m liking his steals, ft%(100% 4attempts per game) and points. I surrounded my curry with players who are good in those cats, so basically i built a team with nice assts/3s/ft%/stls /pts! I really dont care about having high tos or bad fg or low blks or low rebs! So should I add him? And replace rjax? Thanks bud

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Dante Green: It’s a very small sample size and yesterday was fluky with it a blowout. I would rather have RJax still, even though I know he’s been quiet the last 2. Any time!
