Man, what a World Series!  The Cubs win Game 7 – in extra innings no less – to end their century plus drought and have their fans become insufferable, like the Red Sox.  Ugh.  But congrats to the Cubs, and now we can solely focus on basketball!!!  …until the football playoffs take over 45 minutes of every hour of Sportscenter…

Anywho, if it’s not my Brewers in the World Series, I could care less, and I was paying more attention to hoops last night anyway.  Very depressing night, but I wanted to start positive!  After singing his praises on the Pod Tuesday morning, T.J. Warren had a little bit of a down game on Halloween night, but bounced right back to lead the Suns to their first W in OT.  11-22 FG, love dat FG%, 5-5 FT, ditto, 27/7/0/2/1 with no TO.  Dem fighting numbers!  That gives him a 22.4/6.2/0.8/1.8/0.4 line on the season, shooting 50.6% from the field on 17.8 shots, 86.4% from the stripe in 4.4 FTA, and averaging only 1.0 TO.  This is turning into a fantasy MVP!  Of course, of course, of course it’s early, but Devin Booker was back after sitting one game, both Eric Bledsoe (hit the game winner) and Brandon Knight got their run, and I don’t really see any reason this can’t sustain.  The Pts probably come down a tad, but he doesn’t shoot 3s so the FG% should be huge, and he doesn’t really facilitate much which will keep his TO mad low.  On the Pod I compared him to DeRozan – with maybe even better FG% – and look at these floaters in traffic that are DeRozan-esque:

I’m very actively trying to correct the great injustice – with all my TJ love, I don’t own him on any teams.  Hopefully owners think this is a flash in the pan or a sell-high moment.  I don’t.  So be like Warren, take a trip to Dr. James Andrews, and get yourself a nice year-long TJ!  Here’s what else went down last night in fantasy basketball action:

Jae Crowder I’m more depressed than an Indians fan on this one…  Did a jump pass around the perimeter, and landed on the back of Rajon Rondo‘s fat foot.  “Your ball struck my foot!”  Stevens said Crowder is going to miss at least a week, which seems acceptable especially after having kankle issues to end last year.  Fortunately it’s the left ankle this time, last year it was a high ankle sprain to the right.  He immediately was in pain, but was able to hop to the locker room and it didn’t seem quite as bad as Will Barton.  Hopefully we’re looking at 1.5ish weeks.

Isaiah Thomas Took some extra onus – at least 2/3 of the Celtics onus – going 23/2/10/3/1 with 4 treys.  4 stocks is the most he’s done on defense since college!

Amir Johnson Spearheaded the other 1/3 of onus, but going an absurd 23/6/3/3/2 with no TO, and a shocking 4-4 3PTM.  Dude’s career high is 20 3PTM in a season!  He made 20% of that last night!  I’m lazy and not fact-checking, but I think 16 came in the 3rd quarter, which would’ve been after Crowder got hurt.  Should get a little extra run/USG for some multi-cat streaming, but be ready for awful FT%.

Taj Gibson On the flip side of this game at PF, Taj also rainbowed, but it was one of those ugly, gnarly ones after it sleets and turns the roads to sludge or something…  Someone isn’t excited for Winter!  8/8/3/2/2, but shot 3-12 FG and committed 4 TO.  In only 26 minutes.

Bobby Portis With Taj giving it away so much, Portis actually closed out the game as the Bulls were trying to come back.  4/7/0/0/1 on 2-2 shooting, so at least it’s nice to see him get a little more run after barely playing and even getting a DNP-CD to start the year.

DeMar DeRozan Well, it’s gonna be tough for TJ to become the next DeRozan while DeRozan is starting to turn into an absolute alpha on this team!  40/5/5/2/0 on 14-23 shooting, getting his season averages up to 36.3 Pts on 55.4% shooting.  He’s a career 44% shooter who doesn’t make a ton of threes.  I’ll take the under at where he’s at 🙂  Sell high if you don’t need elite scoring.

Kyle Lowry Taking a little bit of a back seat while DD is this voluptuous.  18/1/2/4/0, but he’s surprisingly not too far off from his numbers last year.  I think he’ll start amping it back up, as DeRozan isn’t going to stay this hot through the Canadian Winter.

Terrence Ross 15/2/2/2/0 in 18 mad solid bench minutes, shooting 6-8 with a pair of treys.  Gives him 7 steals through the first 4 games.  StealNOF…?

John Wall We all knew he’d be better, and we all knew he’d have a ton of TO.  All coming together last night!  Huge 33/5/11/3/1 line on 13-19 shooting, but with 9 TO.  Worth the price of admission of an early 2nd round pick though…

Otto Porter Yeah, remember when Scott Brooks teased us with saying SF is an open competition?  Well it ain’t no mo’!  Kelly Oubre gets 7 minutes – Scotty ran his starting 5 to death – with Porter going nuts for 23/13/0/1/0 on 11-13 shooting.  Otto was a little bleh his first few games, but now he’s shooting 62.9% with only 0.7 TO a game.  Otto the metrics whore!

Ersan Ilyasova The Six Foot Turkey!  Makes his Philly debut, playing 23 minutes and going 14/3/2/0/0 with 2 treys.  His 12 shots were second to only Dario Saric.  He’s gonna get a chance to score, so I wouldn’t mind spec adding him in 12ers.

Richaun Holmes With Joel EMBIIIIIIID going flaccid last night on a DNP-rest, it was Richaun on the Viagra!  Got the start over Jahlil Okafor, who came off the bench again.  Only 11:31 of run for Sherlock (too easy a nickname for Richaun…?), but 11/3/2/0/1 on 4-4 shooting, 1-1 3PTM, and 2-2 FT.  He’s looked really good in the spurts of playing time he’s got.  Per-36 he’s 18/10.4/2.7/0.0/2.7 shooting 70%.

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist After adding him game one, I held true despite some lulls, and got rewarded in my RCLs with a 6/13/1/3/1 line.  Only 4 shots, but it’s the boards and wing D stats you want from MKG added to your Chinese food!  Hungry for more!

D’Angelo Russell In REL with a tough fight in blocks, I have to go against D Barksdale who gets 3 swats.  I’m angrier than when Michael B. Jordan got shot!  “Where’s Wallace?!?!??!”  Dude had 13 blocks last year TOTAL!  All 3 of these blocks were his first swats on the season.  Ughghghghghgh!  Well, it’s not all about me, thankfully Russell owners got a nice line everywhere else, going 23/4/8/1/3 on 9-19 shooting…

Luol Deng It isn’t sexy, but after a dud in his debut and an atrocious game against OKC on Oct 30th when they got blown out, his other 3 lines have been fine.  13/11/2/2/1 last night, hitting a trey and making 4-4 FT.  Worth your last roster spot or two in 12ers still.

Larry Nance – Wow, did not expect Nance to get much playing time outta the gate.  14/7/1/2/1 on 7-9 shooting, leading the bench in minutes.  Look daddy, I can dunk too!

This comes after 11/5/1/6/1 Tuesday night.  I still think he’s going to be a streaky player, but he gets steals from the PF position.  If you need steals, he’s a must add.

Ivica Zubac Wooooo, gets a start!  6/3/0/1/0 in 19 minutes for a Summer League darling of mine, butttttttt….

Dwight Howard Tore him to shreds, going 31/11/0/2/0 on 12-16 shooting, and making Zubac commit 4 fouls in 19 minutes.  Don’t worry, Dwight’s fragile body will lose that youthful exuberance soon enough.

Tim Hardaway – I’m sure he was salivating seeing the Lakers on the schedule!  Junk time scoring!  Well, it turns out they needed him for desperation scoring!  26/0/1/0/1 in an uber-ThrAGNOF showing, hitting 5 treys.  Love that 8-10 FG from a ThrAGNOF though!

Marcus Morris I still can’t believe the hate he got in ranks this year…  Not like I was the highest on him, but undrafted in some leagues?!  23/4/2/3/0 with no TO, hitting 3 treys and shooting 8-16 overall.  Ugh, don’t worry, we’re getting to the outcome of this game…

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope KCP addiction!  Did his usual KCP things of 15/7/2/4/0, shooting 4-14, and hitting 2 treys.  Mmmmm, steals!

Andre Drummond Didn’t play in the 4th quarter.  The Pistons were getting torched by half, and did better in the third/fourth much without Drum, but still couldn’t quite get back into it.

Brook Lopez Wow, Asshat, look at that!  You play your best player 29 minutes (still not enough), and you win an NBA game!  It’s like the NBA is rocket science out here!  34/11/1/1/1 for Brolo, hitting 4-8 treys.  As I’ve mentioned a few times, Brooklyn is taking an absurd amount of 3s, and they won this game because they made them.  13-27 overall for BKN, with 27 actually pretty low given their trends.  Anyway, Brolo is up to 5-15 3PTM on the season, and both are already career highs.  Square peg, round hole, but this game it fit!  The buy low window might have slammed shut here.  Seeing some of the offers people got in the comments, you’re feeling great if you did.

Jeremy Lin Goddammit.  I hate when something I want in the REL is something I have to report about in the daily notes…  Somehow Isaiah Whitehead is unowned, and with Crowder going INJ, Whitehead was going to be my add.  But Lin pulled a hammy and missed the second half, but maybe it’s more minor.  Whitehead is still extremely raw though, and may do more harm than good.  5/4/4/0/0 with 5 TO in 20 minutes last night.  Gives him 5 TO in each of the past two games, in 40 combined minutes.  No bueno.  But he did get good steals and blocks in college, and is a biggggg boy for a PG.  Very stocky.  Alas, Greivis Vasquez would be the backup PG when healthy, but he’s coming along from a kankle.  Not much to do here, except some spec adds in deeper leagues should Lin miss time.

Sean Kilpatrick – Dude, last night was so annoying.  Whitehead, Crowder goes down, 3 mother F blocks from Russell…  And after talking up Kilpatrick as a nice streamer, I moved on in a few RCLs, then he goes ballistic for 24/10/3/2/0 on 8-13 FG (4-4 3PTM 4-4FT).  And you guessed it, against me in REL.  I might change the REL league name to JFC.  And before anyone gets mad at my cursing these last two blurbs, JFC stands for Jamaican Fried Chicken!  It’s so good!  Then I can just call all my oppos big jerks.  Womp womp…  Even though this line was awesome, there’s still no way we’re trusting Asshat.  If you have a dead roster spot that you’re not really streaming, sure you can take a stab here.

Clint Capela 21 minutes, 0-3 FT.  2-11 on the year.  Yeah, that’s a problem…  Houston…

Montrezl Harrell The “Thrown in Z” (another nickname idea…?) went 17/10/0/1/3 in 27 minutes, helping to fill out the C minutes with Nene resting his grey dreads.  I don’t think Thrown in Z is a particularly good player, and this was only the second game he’s played.  Meh, passing on this one.

Courtney Lee Second 16 point game on the season, after looking horrific in the Knicks debut.  Very blah ThrAGNOF, but hopefully you didn’t panic in deepers.

Pelicans Bench – Other than Brow, the Pelicans starters combined for – get this – about 58 minutes.  The reserve 5 all played 28+ minutes, accentuated by Lance Stephenson (in a revenge game I guess…?) going 21/4/6/1/1 with 4 TO in 45 preposterous minutes.  Did the Pelicans medical staff run the rotations last night?!  This was a horrible game, with the Pelicans scoring under 16 points in 3 of the 4 quarters, and still somehow taking this to overtime.  Langston Galloway and Buddy Hield both hit 4 treys and scored 18 Pts apiece in easily their best games on the season.  NO just went with the second unit, and they’re still 0-5.  What a disaster.  Stephenson had one good game against the Warriors, but has otherwise been terrible.   No reason to add any of these guys.

Jrue Holiday Thankfully help is coming, as Zach Lowe reported the Pels are hopeful he’ll be back by the middle of the month.  That would be HUGE if you’re a Jrue stasher…

Marc Gasol 3-18 FG.  I’ve said multiple times now that his FG% is going to be a trainwreck, as all he’s doing is taking outside jumpers.  Pair him with Kristaps Porzingis though, and baby, you got a stew goin’!

JaMychal Green You’re welcome, Razzball Nation!  Ranked him aggressive before we even knew he was starting.  21/6/2/1/0 on 9-12 shooting with 3 treys and only 1 TO.

James Ennis 16/10/0/2/0 on 5-8 shooting in 38 minutes.  Lots of standing around and watching Gasol brick!

Dirk Nowitzki Pretty brutal coming off “illness” and “Achilles soreness”, going 9/5/0/1/0 on 4-14 shooting.  But this was against the Jazz, and he was D-ing up Rudy Gobert a bunch.  Pretty exhausting for an old man.  He’ll be better, although the 0-4 Mavericks need to start winning, quick.

George Hill Loving this start, and for some reason was pretty affordable on draft day, ending up on a few of my teams.  25/6/4 last night with 4 treys.  But I may start shopping him around as a sell high.  Gordon Hayward and his hard part haircut are going to take over some USG from Hill-o-Beans.

Evan Turner Slowly improving going 11/10/3/0/1 last night, but another 4 TO and I wish he was facilitating more…

Allen Crabbe Tried to give Phoenix some Crabbes!  37 minutes of 14/1/3/1/0 with 3 treys and no TO.  Looks pretty ThrAGNOFfy to me!

Tyson Chandler 18 rebounds.  I don’t even need to cite his other stats.  That’s all he’s good for!  But if that’s a need, the shoe fits.

Jerami Grant Speaking of fitting shoes, I was sooooo happy to see this trade.  Only 18 minutes in his OKC debut, but 6/2/0/0/2, giving him multi-blocks in every single game this year.  Such a weapon to get swats from SF, and he easily could take that starting 4 role from “standing-around Sabonis”.

Russell Westbrook 14-30 from the field, but 0-7 3PTM?!  Know your range, Russ!  35/6/5/3/0 as he continues his elite start, although the line stayed pretty close to the triple-double flirt with the 10 TO.  Huge win for OKC though, as they were 3-0 against bad teams, including a struggling win against the Sixers in that opener.  Now 4-0 beating the Clip on the road, and this is looking like a better team than I expected.

Victor Oladipo Hah!  9/5/1/0/0 on 3-11 shooting.  Said I didn’t like him off ball, ranked him below virtually everyone else… I feel Smart like my Avatar!

Steven Adams Hah times two!  The great matchups gave Adams a hotter start than I think we should’ve been expecting, and he gets swallowed up by DJ last night, going 2/11/1/1/0 with 3 TO on only 1-3 shooting.  Told ya to sell high!

Chris Paul Even against Westbrook had the line of the game, going 15/11/9/6/0.  Thanks for all the giveaways, Russ!  I needed a big Paul game here in my struggling RCL team where I went Paul first…

I hope everyone had a great Wednesday night, and is looking forward to a big weekend!  Adam has the Daily Notes for tomorrow/Fridays moving forward, but you can always hit me up in comments any time!  Plus we got a Pod tomorrow and the first RCL update tomorrow afternoon…  You’ll be seeing me around!

@THE Game: Nah def hold Frazier. This was a weird game flow decision to bench most of the starters

@JB Gilpin: thanks. Also, what are your thoughts of Dunn this season?

@THE Game: Steals will be there no matter the role. Looks good at the eye level. Ups and downs are gonna happen in FG% and FT% and TO, and I still think this is Rubio’s team while he’s healthy/there (might be trade deadline dealt)

I’m curious how sell-high you mean for Adams. Obviously a top 50 type but no one was giving you Gobert, Turner, Gorgui, Marc Gasol. Kanter, Monroe, Faried? Pass… Embiid, Rolo, Capela? Not me man. Pau, Dirk? Not a chance in hell. That just leaves JV, Gortat, Vuc, I hope you don’t need steals or blocks and I doubt anyone was making that trade anyway. No one is asking Adams to be their number 1 big, but as you can see I don’t think you will find a better number 3 center (someone drafted after pick 75 or so), and of course at 23 years old he’s only getting better and there is absolutely zero threat to his minutes.

    • Adam

      Adam says:
      (link)

@Slim: I second that. Adams will struggle offensively against the bigger centers, but he will still board well. Westy just draws so much attention that Adams will get his dub dub, more often than not, since that high pick and roll tends to be their go to. That was an exception as well tonight- Westy tends to just blow by Paul instead of using a screen, and DJ wouldn’t rotate off Adams quickly, so Russ would just finish it himself.

      • Slim

        Slim says:
        (link)

@Adam: Yeah Russ with only 5 assists to 10 TOs sticks out quite a bit, that and Adams has his worst game when the entire team scores 20 points fewer than they’re lowest output to date, and DeAndre only went 8/6 with 3 blocks (and 0-3 FTs) so it isn’t like Adams wasn’t a huge part of the win. Yeah I’m not looking to move him after this outlier.

“If it happens once it’s an outlier, twice in a row and it gets my attention, three times in a row and it’s a trend” -Slim

@Slim: @Adam: @Slim: With your quote then, is that your thoughts on Adams’ TO? On his blocks? I think I’d rather Pau. Agree passing on those 3 you mention. Embiid??? TO are an issue there too. Rolo and Capela are scary. I’ll take JV Gortat and Vuc any day.

Of course I’ve always maintained he’s a really good NBA player, much better in real life than fantasy. Don’t make it sound like I think he’s a worthless pumpkin out there. Never implied that. Just think overrated in fantasy bc he’s so valuable in real life.

          • Adam

            Adam says:
            (link)

@JB Gilpin: That’s the point, we don’t think anyone is overrating him and offering trades for those 3. Adams is a better Tristan Thompson, mostly due to usage. He’ll hang around just inside the top 100 and get you double digit boards with some extras.

          • Slim

            Slim says:
            (link)

@JB Gilpin: The quote is about overall stat lines, anything can happen in individual stats based off competition and their playstyle and of course minutes *cough* Pau *cough*. Yeah I’d laugh at Pau for my Adams, that’s looking like one of the bigger draft day busts, and he’s only sat once. Yep you picked 3 guys drafted at about #50-60 overall and I don’t think you could find a single taker for that, although you know I’m not taking Gortat (Mahinmi is going to really hurt his minutes) and I’m not sure I’d lose Adams dstats for JV and Vuc’s offense if those were my needs. But from the guys you mentioned who you would take and who you wouldn’t then you would have Adams ranked about #75-80 overall. That seems about right on. And of course Adams hasn’t even hit his stride yet. He’s a career per36 TOs of 1.9, 1.5 last year and he’s a career .561 FG% guy. Once the small sample size normalizes top 100 will be impossible for him not to get to without any progression. Per36 blocks of 1.7 are going to be there but it comes with per36 of 0.9 steals, and of course he’s actually getting close to getting 36 minutes nightly now. And of course at 23 he’ll get better as the year wears on while the older guys will fall off.

            • JB Gilpin

              JB Gilpin says:
              (link)

@Adam: @Slim: You might be right. I obviously don’t own Adams anywhere, so it’s tough for me to gauge where everyone got him. Expecting around 100ish seems appropriate.

I didn’t pick those guys, YOU picked those guys! I would def take Gortat. Rolo and Capela I had preranked below 75-80 and are worse now.

    • Jensen says:

@Slim: Can we mention how Jamychal Green got turned into a pumpkin against the T-wolves? Back end bigs are going to struggle against elite competition at times, manage expectations accordingly.

      • Slim

        Slim says:
        (link)

@Jensen: Yeah but I’m giving JaMychal a bit of a pass considering the garbage lineup they ran out for that game. He was servicable the 1st time they played this year, not great or anything but at least the role looks secure whether they bench guys or not.

        • JB Gilpin

@JB Gilpin: Classic thanksgiving season slam. JB, why do you HATE Adams. You basically said he was human trash, that we should SELL him? Whats up with that? How do you think his 17 brothers and sisters feel about you saying those mean things about him? *Jumps up and down on JB’s head* Oh, you just think he’s not top 50? Why didn’t you start with that.

      @Slim:

Feeling the same as slim, I drafted adams in both my league in the late 90s, i think 95th in one and 99th in another. Definitely hitting value already. Last time I check, not every team has a DJ lol. Adams is a double double threat on nights he’s not playing a DJ or a gobert.

@Slim: @Adam: @Jeremy: Late 90s is absolutely fine. Yahoo pre-ranked him like 65. Saw him going in the range. That was too early.

          (link)

          @JB Gilpin:

yea 65 is probably his ceiling this year, i see no problem hitting 75-85 range though, if he gets better throughout the season.

    2. drop bismack or okafor to add ilyasova? i actually have covington too and HATE him. should I just drop him for ilyasova
    3. worth it to still stash tyreke on IR (i have crowder active and hate having 2 inj guys); available FAs are hibbert, ilya, nance, tjones, deng or do i just hold tyreke for the upside

Damn I’m so salty about adding mkg over warren! Anyways I got offered a multi sport trade and am a bit stuck on it! My compadre offered D Russell & Giancarlo for Shroeder & Bryce H. Both are 12 team keeper leagues with no cost. Since I know you JB and Slim are both very into MLB also what say you guys on this one?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@MJC: Ugh yeah, but I mean, MKG gonna give you boards and D stats while TJ isn’t! Def would want TJ though 🙁

Whewwww, multi-sport offers! Hmmm Russell I think has more upside than Schroder, but I think they’re closer than Harper and Giancarlo. I would prob hold

  5. Zinger says:
    (link)

Just traded my DeMarre for Gary, I think Slim would be proud. Watching the games, I just don’t think DeMarre is THAT good….
Remember the Hood/Hill for Brook/Jabari?Thanks to Brolo’s breakout game, it got rejected 🙁
Dipo was my keeper so at least I didn’t spend a high pick on him….
So the owner of TJ also has Crowder, do you think I can form a trade with him?
    I got Harden/Zingis/Kemba/Dipo/Horford/Hill/Hood/Taj/Ish/Grant/

    • Zinger says:
      (link)

@Zinger: Winslow and Harris (pending trade) are the last two

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Zinger: Eh, I don’t think there’s a big difference between the two. I might held DeMarre bc at least he’s healthy right now. Booooooo, yeah I remember that deal, that woulda been awesome!

Sure you can try… Dipo + Harris?

        • Zinger says:
          (link)

@JB Gilpin: Yeah they should produce similar lines but Harris’s upside is higher, plus he has INJ tag right now so I can put in my IR and stream that spot =]

I don’t have Harris yet.. the trade will go through Sunday, maybe use Ish instead?
Targeting Crowder is a good idea since he already has RJax in his IR

@Zinger: Aha! Yeah in that case, I don’t mind the swap to open up a spot. Sure, yeah Dipo plus Ish for that still works. Then we’ll both be praying for Crowder’s ankle

@JB Gilpin: Forgot to mention the TJ owner also owns Westbrook… sent the trade.. hopefully the handcuff benefit will incentive him more haha

@JB Gilpin: Nope. Dipo’s less-than-optimal performance probably is the reason why. Maybe Dipo for TJ straight up?? hahah i must be out of my mind.

@Zinger: I’m trying to talk him into Hood for TJ swap, I think that’s really fair. More 3s from Hood but better FG from TJ, the rest are pretty much a wash.

@Zinger: Nice job. DeMarre is 30 and looks like a complete afterthought on offense. The steals are coming down for sure at that age, the blocks are a mirage, and he’s never been someone who we can assume will be healthy for 70 games. Looking like Gary is going to be coming into a monster role with Barton down and pretty much everyone thinks he’s coming back any day now.

How does Oklahoma line up look with Grant on the team ? Will Andre Roberson still have a starting job? Will Grant start? Ok to run both Roberson and Grant each night?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@phil: Oh yeah, I def think so! Gives them mad athleticism and length on defense. Play Grant at the 4, he’s not too dissimilar to Domantas in that he can run the floor and hit 3s, and brings a lot more defensively. Domantas looks pretty blah too. Def could/probably will keep Roberson at the 3

      • A Hill O' Beans says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: “he’s not too dissimilar to Domantas in that he can run the floor and hit 3s”

I hope that’s not referring to Jerami Grant? This is more for people in general than directed at you necessarily JB because I keep seeing people talking about Grant being a good 3&D guy who’s improved his shot, etc, etc. Grant hasn’t hit a single 3 this year, and he shot 24% from 3 last year on 2 attempts per game. You can shoot better than that JB. I know you can.

Here’s his FG% by distance from last year, and keep in mind that ever one of them is equal or worse so far this season (small sample size this year).

        2015/16
        3′-9′ – 21%
        10′-15′ – 18%
        16′ < 3 – 29%
        3P – 24%

The man is a horrendous shooter that makes MCW look like Ray Allen.

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@phil: @A Hill O’ Beans: Well, let’s calm down a little here. Grant has played 57 minutes this year, only 3 games, and the Sixers were having him take mid-range, not stretch the floor. He’s 0-2 thus far. Don’t think the book is closed on this yet. Also, I never claimed that by saying “can hit 3s” he’d necessarily be efficient with them! And yeah, I hit about 3-4 treys in morning ball, and about 7-8 in the afternoon yesterday. Given college threes. I’m a decent shooter. I might be able to hang tough with Jerami 🙂

          • A Hill O' Beans says:
            (link)

@JB Gilpin: Haha, I knew you could shoot the long ball JB!

And I did say “small sample size this year” which is why I used last years stats as my example. You’re right though, you said he could hit 3s, you didn’t say he could hit them with any modicum of efficiency. I guess you could say long two’s are his most efficient shot too. We won’t mention that most efficient is equivalent to not even remotely efficient though, haha.

            • JB Gilpin

              (link)

@A Hill O’ Beans: Sabonis is 3-6 thus far, but I don’t think there’s any answer as to which is a better 3pt shooter/efficient yet. I’d prob say Sabonis, but Grant can do almost everything else better. Also Sabonis is taking like, 4 shots a game. Grant was shooting midrange for an anemic Sixers team. Maybe a little more flow playing (hopefully) next to Westbrook will help him out

              • Slim

                Slim says:
                (link)

@JB Gilpin: Yeah I kind of assume once you leave philly your FG% naturally goes up. Can’t hurt to have a real PG plus someone who can demand a double team. MCW went from 40, 38% with Philly to 43, 45% with MIL. But I think the best thing Grant adds to this team is the ability to have a defense 1st guy next to Kanter so you can try to hide Kanter defensively against a low USG guy. Also I feel like Jerami Grant grows by leaps and bounds each year, I don’t think he’s come close to his ceiling yet.

Wudup JB/Razball Nation!! Thanks for the great work my man! Man your site ROCKS,I just happened to discover it not too long ago (unfortunately just after my draft), and its a game changer. No wait, a LIFE changer. Because fantasy basketball IS my life right now (and my damn boards). All you guys do such fantastic work. Talk about a hidden gem. Wow!

Anyways, I swore I wouldn’t do this, but I just don’t know what to make of my team. I thought I did ok in my draft, got great value late, but seriously distraught over my 2nd and 3rd rounders (Horf and Dipo). I’m doing alright thus far, but I’m not KILLING it like I’d like to, and it seems to me that my team is pretty average across most cats and not dominant in any given cats. I’m in a 12 team, 9 cat, H2H Keeper league (1st season). Roster construct is as follows:

Guards: Conley, Dipo (ugh), Linsanity, Elf Payton
Forwards: KD, Rudy Gay, Gallo, Marcus Morris, TJ Warren (!!!!)
Cenres: Deandre Jordan, Nurkic, Horford, Tyson Chandler
    IL: Tyreke, Chandler Parsons

I like the depth of my team and obviously I got a slew of SF, especially when Parsons comes off the IL. Thats also an issue, because when Reke and Parsons return off IL, I’m going to have to somehow make room for them, and obviosuly Tyson Chandler is the only open spot I see, although I feel like I need his boards. Thinking a 2 for 1 trade, but trying to find the right fit. What do you think JB and Razzball nation?? What direction should I take my team and what are the cats that I should target? Do I trade DJ and up my FT% and decimate my boards and blocks, or do I grab another big and up my blocks/bounds and basically become punt FT? Also, I wana sell the shit outta Dipo and upgrade if I can, I wish I listened to you and stayed away. Not only about performance which I’m willing to be patient on, but his less than stellar playoff schedule is a no go for me, because I’m trying to win this year (and every year). Ditto for Big Al. not impressed + weak playoff sched.

Btw best available on my barren wire: Ilyasova, Danny Green, Josh Richardson, Smart, Lou Will, etc (I think you get the picture, pretty bleh)

Anyways, I appreciate any help/feedback I can get my dude!! And keep on killing it!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Doctor G: What’s up man?! Wow, really appreciate the kind words man, glad you found us!

Well Horford has been OK, the concussion is only accentuating that he’s only a smidge behind where he needs to be. But yeah Dipo is worrisome. I think I would try to fix the FT punt issue of DJ as you mention. I would look at the 2-3 teams that are inevitably FT punting (Dwight owner, Drum owner, etc) and offer DJ + a SF. Gay might be a good sell high. Would be fine dealing Gallo. Doubt anyone would pay much for Marcus. Obviously I would hold Warren 🙂

Then those two for an elite PG? Maybe a non-FT punting C if they have one, and trying to be more FT punt embracing? Hope that helps some man, we’ll try!

      • Doctor G says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Awesome. Yeah getting rid of DJ’s punt FT and the albatross that is Dipo are definitely my top priorities. Just got the news that Lin is out at least 2 weeks as well, so I guess that kind of solves my roster crunch conundrum for the time being and puts a potential 2 for 1 trade on the back burner. Reached out to Dwight’s owner, and we’re considering a potential Blake for DJ swap. I don’t love Blake’s lack of d-stats, but my FT/Pts/Assists will go up and my boards won’t take a killing. I’ll probably then try and add a non-punt FT big along the lines of a Gortat, and try and grab an elite PG as well. Keep up the great work JB, and thanks for the help!!

Hah Slim will laugh – def going Porzingis. We debated on Brook vs. porzingis for a FG% need and I said Brook in that case, but I ranked Porzingis ahead going into the year and maintain that

Cmon man, you’re not supposed to make us readers cry with your daily notes! I had images of Dangelo crying out for Wallace and it made my nose runny.. Stringer got his Bell rung, tho.

14 cat roto: trade my harden and brolo for KAT and Cp3? Yknow, you haven’t really touched in KAT’s “underperformance” thus far, particularly in the blks and brds. Granted, two of his games were against a stingy MEM team. Also, I need more harden love, as I still own him.

So my only real drops for jrue on my team are Frazier and taj… And brds and blks are a bit of a need (can thank asshat for that!). What say you? Obviously Frazier will be dropped once jrue’ back, but ain’t it worth it holding him for those next 5-6 games?? Sophie’s choice!

Im in a 10 team league that with only 2 bench spots so theres really no streaming possible and rostering injured players can really hurt your flexibiliy. I already have Collison and Rubio out which is not helping me claim wire gold… aka TJ Warren. With that being said you I have Markieff thats acutally doing really well to start the season and Covington that is still figuring out its a good thing to score while playing. In this league you really need to roast top level talent so I;m wondering if its with dropping any of these players for some fantasy gold?

    Markieff Morris or MKG ?
Covington or KCP or M.Barnes ?

Who has the best path to minutes by the end of the year Chriss, T.Johnson, Heild, Okafor, J Richardson. Do you see any of these guys putting up big number by the end of the year.

Lastly would you take a shot in the dark and drop Markieff, Covington or Rubio to roster Jrue Holiday? This is also a keeper league which would mean if I kept him throughout the year he would be my 12 round pick next year. Risk vs Reward and hes in a contract year… but still wonder how his mindset will be with the unfortunate news about his wife plus a new baby

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:

@Bgrizzle: Gotcha, so Warren is already gone? Just being sure… He would take precedence. Ummmm, if D stats are a need, I’d be fine switching Kieff for MKG. Needing more scoring, keep Kieff. I would take KCP over RobCo. Ah, but yeah, even with the injuries issue, Jrue needs to be owned, he might be back soon. Depending on team needs, I would prob lose Kieff for Jrue and RobCo for KCP

      (link)

@Dusty: I might get some kickback for this one… As a fan of Florida teams I don’t have much love for Ohio teams. Ohio St and the phantom pass interference call against UM, UF beating OhioSt for both a national title in basketball (Conley and Oden are no Horford, Noah, Brewer) and football when Ohio St was favored to win (52-20!), and Urban Meyer straight lying to UF and it’s fans so he could go to AN Ohio school. Obviously LeBron lying to Pat Riley but more than that it was the Cleveland fans who were very much undeserving of LeBron returning due to their burning effegies and all. Cleveland Browns fans might be my least favorite NFL fans, maybe not, at least they aren’t Pats fans I guess. Oh and don’t forget the Marlins beating the Indians for their 1st championship! I would call it a rivalry but it’s been pretty one sided so far.

@Slim: @JB Gilpin: Theo is practically a god now. I look forward to LeBron coming to Chicago in a full Cubs uniform.

That was the terms of a bet he made with D-Wade. A bet that was agreed upon after Chicago was already down in the series no less! I hope all the ribbing LeBron gave the Dubs for blowing a 3-1 lead gets thrown back in his face all season long.

I don’t like to badmouth fans of other cities, but I think Cubs fans were more deserving. The way they have supported their team through all of the ups and downs is unbelievable. I question how much Clevelanders care about baseball and the Indians.

Progressive field always seemed to have so many empty seats whenever I saw it on TV. Turns out they ranked 28th in regular season attendance this year… 16k seats away from max capacity.. To have such a great team and no support is shameful.

Having humility and being a gracious winner is important, but I think the first step of being a good fan is to demonstrate passion for the team you supposedly support. Cubs fans bleed for their team, I will give them that.

Pretty soon you’re gonna have to change the 30 point challenge to just be whether or not DeRozan fails to get to 30 points. The man is on fire right now which I think has something to do with him realizing that he’s not a 3 point shooter. So far he’s only taking 5% of his shots from 3 which is easily the lowest in the last 5 years. What’s the over/under on how long until he gets cocky and goes back to taking too many 3s for a guy who can’t hit them? I give it another 5 or 6 games before that goes back up to 10+% of his attempts and that FG% comes down. Hope I’m wrong though for the Raptors sake, as a DeRozan that takes smart(ish) shots is clearly a much more efficient player.

If T.J. Warren is working on becoming a poor mans (or not so poor) version of DeMar DeRozan, does that make Andrew Wiggins a poor mans T.J. Warren? I know he’s shooting better this year so far, but everything else has gotten worse, which is scary for a 21 year old uber-talented kid. I mean 7.0 combined 3s/REB/AST/STL/BLK is pretty sad, though last year was only 7.9 so…

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@A Hill O’ Beans: Well fortunately we take out the top 10 scorers or else it’d be DeRozan every night right now! But yeah, hopefully he keeps it up for a while. Didn’t Durant have a run of 30+ point games that went on for a while one time? And yeah the % of shots that are 3s are lower, but overall he’s at the same level of 3pta/game. Just is taking more shots. At 1.5 3PTA this year, and has only been above 1.8 once, so he’s in the same range. Wish it could go sub 1.

Hah, I think I have to recant myself from Wiggins analysis. He’s so friggin frustrating. Mannnn, I would strongly consider that deal, Wiggins for TJ.

Words that would have made you lose your license to write about fantasy bball not too long ago, haha. Crazy! But I can’t disagree with you that I’d probably consider it. I want to go back in time and trade Wiggins for TJ straight up in the preseason just so I can listen to the other owners go bananas, only to have me win the trade like a week into the season, haha.

Yeah I guess DeRozan is still taking them, though at least the total amount of 3PA hasn’t gone up along with the FGA so that shows some sort of self control. Maybe. I remember the Durant 30 point barrage, and DeRozan has a looooooong way to go since I think that was like 10 or 12 games in a row wasn’t it? Keep chuckin DeMar, at least until you start missing a few of them!

    Whats good Razzballeros.

Doing well so far in my 12 team 9 cat league. Looking to maybe sell high on some back of roster guys to reel in some early round value. I can always restock those back of the bench guys from the wire. Thought i had a good plan of attack but some of the comments here gave me pause…This is the plan, watcha think?

Was thinking to buy low on Pau with Demarre thrown in for my Ish, E. Gordon and Saric. I know Pau’s new situation sucks but thought he would still put up mid round value and i like stat-stuffers like Demarre. My team for reference is:

    Greek Freak
    Linsansity
    Bledsoe
    Frazier
    Ish
    Tobias Harris
    E Gordon
    KCP
    JaMychal
    Saric
    Millsap
    Myles Turner
    Nurkic
Snell (streaming slot, will drop sunday)
    IL Gordon Hayward

Am i wrong thinking Pau & Demarre for Ish, Saric and Gordon gets me some value?

While im here, any thoughts on a good IL stash once Hayward comes back in? Hopefully i wont have to use my IL for Linsanity. Rubio , P Beverly, Sullinger,, Bayless are on my wire.

Also think Evan Turner is worth a pickup?

    Thanks fellas!

@COURT-VISION: Whats good?! I’m def good with that deal. R Jax sounds like he’s progressing nicely, and not like you’re giving up much. I like it for you,.

Oh Rubio got dropped?! Yeah def adding him. Probably for that streaming spot for now. Then ehhh on Turner, I added him in a league or two, but more for streamnig. Any time!

@JB Gilpin: Thanks JB! Will go ahead and swoop Rubio and hope Lin’s hamstring isnt too strung. On that trade front, does it look as good to you if i swap in JaMychal for Gordon, making it JaMychal/Saric/Ish for Pau/Carrol? Thanks again.

@COURT-VISION: Ugh, probably over 2 weeks for Lin. But I still think Rubio needs to be owned. Sure, I still like that deal for you! Nice buy low on Pau still

“I am so smart. I am so smart. S-M-R-T…”

Is Trevor Booker a season-long hold in 10’ers? Like the steals, but haven’t been able to watch any Brooklyn games for real life eye test. Also was scared to watch Lopez before last night.

Also, what do you think of my D’Angelo for his Avery Bradley? I actually think I may not be offering enough.

@miles proudfoot: Hah, yessir! Nahhhh, I think Asshat will make his minutes really annoying.

Ummm, that seems about even at this point. If your TO are getting out of control, I def like it.

How would you rank Covington, Jerami, Bazemore, & Deng? In a 12-team h2h points league. I can roster two of ’em. Thanks!!!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Steve: I’d probably go Deng anddddd Bazemore…? FGA is a negative in your scoring, right? Grant is a distant 4th, he’s better in cats for blocks and won’t have a huge volume

Looking to drop the absolutely awful WCS and add another big. I def need high efficiency production. Who would you add between Nance | Holmes | Justin Anderson | Harrel ?
Looking forward to your precious advice 😉

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@VamosErik88: Def liking Nance there. Still working on his 3s so he doesn’t take a ton, getting steals, I think has the biggest role right now… He’s my guy

      • VamosErik88 says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Thanks man just picked him up!

While we’re talking TJ, what’s up with the TJones? DNP-CD one day, 28 minutes the next. I dropped him after his dnp but I’m wondering whether he’s worth picking back up at some point.

Great to hear about the Jrue news! Do you think he’s worth the stash right now? I’m fighting a close battle on 3’s, assists, and points right now, and I’m already holding on to rubio… probably going to drop barea after his friday or sunday game to stash jrue. what do you think?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@jdubs: Weird, weird stuff from the Pels. Tough to trust Tjones game to game. PF version of Lance haha. Another injury and he could be an add for sure.

Def need to have Jrue owned. If your league is usually a little slow to the draw, I’d be good waiting another few days, but wanna nab him asap

  21. Nathan says:

If you could get TJ Warren (11th round keeper!) for, say, Serge Ibaka (unkeepable), would you do it? Do you like TJ even more in a keeper league?

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@Nathan: It’s tough with TJ. At some point you have to trust it but are we at that point yet? I’ll try… FG% yes, that’s exactly what we expect, on 17.8 shots per 36 when it was 14.8 last year. Possible, just being more aggressive, could be a sign of improved health. FT% and volume are way off, volume ok, aggressive, but this % is out of wack, but he’s a great midrange shooter and Bazemore came around last year so maybe. 3s are right on and might get a smidge better, yikes. points, well with the added attempts come points and the FT volume isnt a big part of his game so even if that regresses, sure. Boards, 1.0 over his career per36, hmph, could come down a bit. Assists are 0.8 and his career per36 is 1.5, yep he’s taking the shot. Steals are the oddity. 1.1 and 1.2 per36 his 1st 2 years, now 1.8 and never known for his defense. I would take the under on 1.5 on the year. Blocks, always been 0.5, should keep it. 1.0 TOS per 36, wow, but last year was 1.1 so why not. There you have it.

      .505/.???/0.7/20.5/5.6/1.0/1.4/0.5/1.1 :34

Or something close to it. Now… I don’t think that happens over 82 games. He has never played close to this many minutes in a year and we don’t know how he’ll do with that. This is obviously a sell high but I think you need to get top 50 or a real good top75. A top 100 guy doesn’t make up for the potential here.

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Nathan: @Slim: It’s still a little early, but 11th round is looking like ti could be phenomenal value. If you don’t need IBaka’s blocks that bad, I def would do it. That line would be pretty incredible if it comes together

I am a bit concerned about my guard situation with word Jrue may be back in a week or so which could crush Frazier. Options at guard include Harris, Richardson, Whitehead, Foye, Waiters, T Parker, McConnell, Baldwin…so not thrilling. That being said, do I hold or swap one here?

    My team:
Paul, Frazier, Delly (RJax in IR slot)
DeRo, Hood, O Porter, Leonard, Crowder (ugh), Barnes,
Poison Goose, M Turner, J Grant
    Adams, Howard,

    • Lasandro says:
      (link)

@Johnsc: he’s back in a week or so? I just read that they’re “hopeful” he’ll return by mid-November. I’m “hopeful” that Salma Hayek and Halle Berry want to lock me up in the master bedroom with them.

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Johnc: @Lasandro: Hah, aren’t we all hopeful! Yeah it’s prob not that quick, but will be soonish. M or H Barnes? I wouldn’t mind dropping M Barnes for J Rich, but it’s another injury so maybe not. No need to panic, just keep riding Frazier while you can.

  23. James Zhou says:

Hey, would you guys trade big Nurkic for Jeremy Lin and Ricky Rubio?
I’ve been dominating my matchups so far and the guy offering Lin and Rubio isn’t doing so hot, so I feel like I might be buying low.

For context, in our 14 man league my team is:
    Harden
    Drummond
    DeAndre Jordan
    Nurkic
    Chandler Parsons
    MKG
    Crowder
    Muscala
    Marcus Morris
    DWade
    Deng
    Nerlens Noel
    Matt Barnes

What do you guys think? Pull the trigger or nah? I feel like Rubio is the big question mark here, he wasn’t doing so hot even before the injury.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@James Zhou: Both nice stashes in a 14er… And man do you need some PG depth with not as big a need for big man stats. i would do it for sure, really fits your build

Derozan + payton for Greek freak, am I giving too much?

Derozan + gordon for dieng + oladipo, which side do you take?

    Thanks

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Jeremy: Nahhhh, love getting Greek at that price! Love my Elfrid, but nice sell high on DeRozan. I’ll take Dieng side too

drop either of Justin Hamilton/Hibbert or Beverley for Ersan?

Also, I’ve got Kanter, should I try and shop him for someone underperforming (as well)?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@SheriffMcRawDawg: Sure, I think probably Beverley if no IL. Think Ersan could be usable there in Philly. And sure, maybe look for the bottom feeder in REB and see what you can swing with Kanter

@Toni Vidal Ribes: Hmmmmm. Well 100000% Knight first still. I dunno, I’m definitely recency-biasing it, but I’ll go Kilpatrick, Anderson, Mills, Seth

  27. Kozmonaut says:

Was offered Ryan Anderson for my Markieffer.
Hesitant on trading for Thrag….but may need the 3s….whatcha think?
    12 Team H2H standard yahoo
    Kawhi
    Lowry
    Jokic
    Gobert
    Dieng
    Collison
    Clarkson
    Gallinari
    Covington
    Markieffer
    Justice
    Saric
    Ish Smith
    Jrue on IL

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Kozmonaut: M Sutherland is def looking like he’ll be a headache this year. 3s isn’t a dire dire need, but does help give some flexibility if RobCo plays his way out of minutes. He’s been awful

  28. Jeremy says:

favors + j Grant for tyler johnson + arron gordon

    Which side? Thanks!!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:

@Jeremy: Def gonna stick with Favors side. Any time!

      • Jeremy says:
        (link)

        @JB Gilpin:

Grant laid a dud yesterday while gordon double-double, does this change your mind at all? not sure If i should take the offer or not still…thanks for advice.

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Jeremy: Nah I would still take it. It’s less about Grant or Gordon than it is getting by far best in the deal – Senor Favors

  29. Game of Zones says:

in a standard league 12 team 9 catg would you trade payton for schroder or teague? payton is killing my ft and i have harden galo.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Game of Zones: Sure, I had them all in the same range, so I’d be good going with the best fit. Prob leaning Schroder first, but Teague would be fine

  30. Michael Shoesmith says:
    (link)

Someone in my league just dropped Lin. Thinking I’ll try to grab him with my number two waiver spot. Thoughts on who I should drop? Options are either plumlee, ish Smith, j green or bazermore. I have a lot of pgs already including Chris pau, dragic l and lowry so I’m thinking Smith…

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Michael Shoesmith: Yeah I agree, he should be owned. Yeah R Jax is looking close… Between he and Plum for me. Guessing it’s Mason 🙂 He’s been pretty awful. Unless you’re FT punting, I think I would lose PLumlee first

  31. dom says:

wassup you like McDermott (NY) if he plays (dtd concussion) or Ennis (LAC) for Fri?

    • dom says:
      (link)

@dom: also how worried are you about Covington’s start? 4 ppg smh. didn’t realize his ownership had dropped to 27% on ESPN, is he def a hold in 12ers?

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@dom: I’d stick with Ennis, I trust the minutes (and health, obviously) more. Covington… uggghhhhh. I wanna say yes, but wouldn’t fault cutting him. He shot awful in preseason too. A few more weeks of this, and he’s gonna lose a lot of run you’d have to imagine….

  32. Anton says:

Is Jaylen Brown worth a pick up in a 12 teamer?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:

  33. Jason says:

should i trade away george hill and evan turner for carmelo and henderson?

    • JB Gilpin
