Like LeBron James, I find underwear constricting.  It just smashes shizz together that feels so much more free in some gym shorts or pajama pants.  Let me be free!

And I just can’t imagine what Tyler Johnson goes through…  Must be like putting on shrunken spandex when he’s getting suited up every night!  He certainly brought the full Johnson effort against the Kings, putting up 19/3/3/1/0 with 3 treys on 6-8 FG and 4-4 FT.  That line is longer than…  Ok, ok, we get the idea…  Every time he gets run, he just seems to deliver.  He got a DNP in the opener, played 1:28 in game 2 before seeing an expanded role, and had a couple sub-20 minute games in there.  But in the 7 he’s played 20+ minutes, he’s 11.6/3.7/2.3/0.9/0.7 with 1.1 treys and hitting over 60% from the field.  All with only 1.3 TO!  I would call him a metrics whore, but with assets like we talked about above there, it’s tough not to be!  Even though Hassan Whiteside is tripdubbing here and there with his redonkulous blockage, Johnson finished up down the stretch with the other 4 regular starters.  Gerald Green only played 16 minutes, and it looks like Johnson and Justise Winslow are firmly entrenched as your main two subs.  Johnson certainly isn’t a must-own in 12ers, but that’s three straight Thursday games he’s been a fantastic streamer.  It’s almost like I said that on Monday in The 7 Ahead!  I’m not one to toot my own horn too much, but then again, it’s not as big a horn as Johnson…  I’m just your regular ol’ trumpet while he’s a tuba!  Here’s what else went down last night in fantasy hoops action:

Giannis Antetokounmpo Greek gettin’ all Freaky!  33/5/2/2/0, hitting a crazy 12-15 from the field for a career-high scoring night.  Plus no TO, 8-8 FT, and a trey!  It’s like he dedicated last night solely to his fantasy non-believers.  Too bad the rest of the Bucks had no answers…  Including Michael Carter-Williams, who dedicates all his games to his fantasy believers.  In that, he never gets to draft himself, so he blows just to tank all his leaguemates.

Jabari Parker I haven’t talked about him much this year, but I feel like he’s pretty boring even when out there.  14/3/1/0/1 in 31 minutes last night, hitting 6-10 from the field.  Not breaking the bank to get him.

Jerryd Bayless I’ve been pretty anti-JB considering I am of course pro-JB in general, but the Bucks JB seemed to be overly-benefiting from MCW being DNP and is now TTYL.  Does anyone even use talk to you later anymore?  My acronym game is still from learning it on AIM…  Anyway, 9/1/2/0/0 last night in 25 pretty uninspiring minutes, even with MCW not playing well and having foul trouble.  JB G2G.

LeBron James 8-9 FT!!!!!!!  Wooooo!!!!!!!!  Drop the confetti!

Kevin Love Maybe my hate on Love had too much hate and not enough love.  22/15/1/1/1 with 3 treys, but there’s still Cav shutdowns to be fearful of.  Just so many emotions!

J.R. Smith 4 treys, 18 Pts, and not much else… ThrAGNOF!

Matthew Dellavedova Aussies know how to party, Delly keeps bringing the dimebags!  7/1/13 with a trey, starting at PG with Mo Williams out with a leg issue and we’re obviously still waiting for Kyrie Irving.  Still just an AST streamer, but having one use is better than none!

Tristan Thompson Dubdubbed.  About all that’s interesting.  I streamed him for some boards in one of my RCLs.  He is no longer on any of my teams, even with…

Timofey Mozgov Healthcare.Mozgov got the ol’ 404 URL not found with 11 minutes of nothingball before leaving with a shoulder injury.  Thompson started the second half, then it was 11 minutes for Anderson Varejao, who was 4-4 from the field.  I think I still own Mozgov somewhere…  I’m about to become a super right Republican and repeal the ish outta Obamacare and shutdown that Healthcare.Mozgov!  He hasn’t been that good, but at least while it’s still active, he can get some nice government healthcare for that bum shoulder…

Hassan Whiteside Picked up two early fouls, barely played the end of the first half, then racked up his normal Whiteside-ian stats to go 12/5/0/2/4 virtually all in the 3rd quarter.  4-7 from the field and a shocking 4-4 FT.  All with no TO.  You could argue this 18 minute game is his best line on the season.  All you can say negatively about this was a game the foul trouble hurt him and he didn’t finish down the stretch.  With a line like last night, he doesn’t need to!

Goran Dragic 9/1/6/0/0 with a three.  Dwyane Wade was back, and was unreal for 24/5/6/2/0 with no TO on 10-23 shooting.  Usage abyss!  He’s a usage Sarlacc Pit!  Dragic owners just need to keep eking it out; when there’s no Wade, there’s a big void for a Dragon.

Chris Bosh – Hit everything, going 8-12 from the field (2-2 3PTM 5-5 FT) for 23/11/4/0/1.  He’s returned very solid value if you got him at a discount on draft day.

Rudy Gay Yikes, banged his shoulder and looked like he was in a lot of pain.  He’s had surgery on that shoulder before, but it could be a pectoral thing…  I’m no doctor, but none of this sounds good.  I know Gay’s not even cold yet, but for deeper leagues, Omri Casspi might be worth a look, as he went 16/6/0/1/1 with 2 treys in 39 minutes as the starting SF.  Even if Gay is out for an extended period, I don’t think Casspi is a must-own in 12ers, but any deeper he’s worth the spec add right now.

Kotsa Koufos – 25 minutes of blah starting for DeMarcus Cousins, who got suspended for his elbow to Al Horford.  “Hey Big Al, here’s my big elbow!”

Rajon Rondo No triple-double, womp womp!  14/9/18, and playing stupid right now.  The 18 dimes are an NBA-season high thus far.  Plus he managed to hit two treys and stay off the FT line.  Darren Collison is back and played 21 minutes off the bench shaking off some rust, but I dunno, I’m a little worried.  Colly is the better overall player, but I dunno if the Kings shake this up right now, especially with Rondo great trade bait on that one-and-done deal.

Marco Belinelli 23/1/1 off the bench, hitting 5 treys.  Italian ThrAGNOF!

Stephen Curry Booooo, the Clippers were up big in the 2nd quarter and still find a way to lose?!  I called this a possible first loss for the Warriors if CP3 was back, who was unreal.  And it looked like it was gonna happen too!  Then after a slow start, Curry went bonkers for a 40/11/4/3/0 line, another standard 6 treys and 12-12 FT.  While there’s still the possibility of playoff schedule DNPs, Curry is certainly making me burn with my #3 rank, just like how curry makes me burn in the bathroom.

Andrew Bogut – You friggin’ kidding me?!  Had an 18 REB game and 40 overall in 4 games last week to cost me an REL cat, and gets 1 rebound last night?!  ONE?!?!??!  Festus Ezeli with 4 REB and 2 BLK off the bench is still the C to own for the long haul.

Draymond Green #OccupyFaLife!

Harrison Barnes I guess I need to take this more and more cereal.  21/7/1 with 3 treys last night, no D stats, but he’s been better than expected.  Although every time I think that, I look at his stats and find black eyes.  Low D stats overall, 3s are the same as last year…  all that’s up is the scoring.  His FT% and volume is up, but 4 of the last 6 he didn’t even make a FT.  Weighed by some early data there.

Klay Thompson Wow, another game with only 5 3PT attempts, hitting three of em.  Brought all his volume to the stripe!  10-12 on the freebies.  It’s mostly getting better, but not to last year’s peaks.  I still wouldn’t sell-low.

Blake Griffin Ummmm, he hit a three!  That was pretty cool…  First trey on the year!  And ummmm, everything else is exactly what you expect from one of the league’s most consistent stat-stuffers.  I am of course contractually obligated to mention his name every daily notes, due to pending commenter lawsuits…

Chris Paul Ridiculous.  Pssshhh, who said groin muscles were important?!  35/4/8/3/0 on 13-22 FG (5-9 3PTM 4-4 FT) in a helluva good game for a losing effort.  Imagine if his groin was healthy!  He’d be slingin’ it like Tyler Johnson!

Austin Rivers Still deep-league usable off the bench for 10/3/1/2/0 and a trey, playing several minutes alongside CP3.  He’s kinda the slow, bumbling sidekick to the golden player, so he’s R2D2-ish.  Although it needs to be changed slightly to match CP3’s slight difference from CP3-0.  R2D.  He’s twice as bad as Doc was…  Hah I dunno, we’ll work on it…  Suggestions?

DeAndre Jordan Took only 4 shots and didn’t have a block.  Somehow hit 5-8 FT though!  At least he didn’t go 0-fer on the swats and destroy your FT% at the same time…

I hope everyone is destroying their matchups this week, and let’s have a killer weekend!  We’ll be back Monday morning with the weekend daily notes and The 7 Ahead for Week 5.  Catch ya then Razball Nation!

Got a tempting offer of blake and ellis for my whiteside and wiggins. Does this trade make sense in terms of value (h2h)? In terms of team fit, I’m hesitant since I’d be low on blocks with my other bigs being DJ, marc gasol, tjones, dray green. What do you think?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@jonny: Well DJ should help carry blocks some, I think it’s close, but I think you should get a tad more

      • jonny says:
        (link)

        @JB Gilpin:

I think I’d rather move marc gasol for teague like you recommended a while back. I convinced the owner to do the trade, and even throw in fournier for my worst player. This is a no brainer right? Watching marc gasol kill it right now vs the rockets is making this tough… lol

Should i give him RHJ or stanjo for fournier? This is what my team looks like:

        PG: walker, dragic, mo williams
        SG: lou williams, bellineli, wiggins
        SF: dray green, stanley johnson
        PF: Tjones
        C: whiteside, jordan, gasol

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@jonny: Hah yeah I’m buying Fournier, and with all your bigs it works perfect. Hmmm Stanjo has more upside… Honestly with all your bigs you don’t need RHJ as much, I’d have him be the throw in

  2. Rob says:
    (link)

    Hi:
Think you would agree with me but sanity check and all that.

Got offer his Love for my Ibaka. Roto league so playoff schedule not an issue.

I need 3s, but I think I got them on WW witl CJ Miles (my REL crush on him is eternal) and Covington.

I think I will decline on the grounds that blocks are harder to find on the WW than 3s, but can argue the other way.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Rob: Haha yeah Miles has been awesome. Ibaka is more durable too, and DNPs down the stretch could be there for Love – I’m holding too

  3. miles proudfoot says:
    (link)

Considering team needs, I think I see an opening for a trade for his Cousins or Ibaka. His team needs PG stats and has a lot of big men. Would you think that an offer of K Walker and one of the following would do the job…wiggins TJones Clarkson sullinger Dragic. Wiggins would be the last one I’d like to move. I’m thinking Walker/Dragic if it’s not too little. Thanks!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@miles proudfoot: I doubt that gets Cousins, but that seems more than suitable for needs to do for Ibaka. Any time man!

  4. J says:
    (link)

    Hey JB,

Could you give your thoughts on Jerami Grant?
Poor mans Terrance Jones? Any chance he keeps this up with Covington back (like he did last game). Should be owned in 12ers?

I recently re-stashed Meyers leonard in two leagues without an IR spot. Maybe thats a mistake? Damn mystery shoulder!

    Thanks!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@J: Nah not quite going there, Tjones is gonna kill him in FG% and overall scoring, so a much higher Fg%. Nah, not a must own for me at all, worth owning though? Sure. Haha I probably wouldn’t, obviously depends who is on the wire to drop Meyers for…

      • J says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: As for whos on the wire:

        14 teamer:
Grant, PatPat, Bjelica, Biyombo, Gary Harris, Ed Davis

        12 teamer:
Grant, Scola, Amir, Deng, Ezeli, Bjelica, AGordon

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@J: I’d rather own Grant right now over Meyers, and if big man need gimme Biyombo. 12 teamer, def gonna stash A Gordon!

  5. Rocky says:
    (link)

    JB-

    Thanks for all your insight!

    My roster in a 12team, 9cat…

    Teague
    IT3
    Butler
    PG13
    Greek Freak
    DeMarre Carroll
    Derrick Favors
    Gorgui Dieng
    Otto Porter
    Rodney Hood
    Dwight Powell
    Zach LaVine
    Aaron Gordon
    Meyers Leonard (INJ)

Top five adds on the wire are Jokic, Tyler Johnson, CJ Miles, Chamlers and JR Smith. Was thinking of picking up JR and possibly Chamlers in place of Gordon (who I love but minutes are too inconsistent) and possibly LaVine (who seems to be trending up, even with Rubio back from the hammy) or Dieng (another minutes concern). Any thoughts or rec’s?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Rocky: As always, any time! So is Meyers in your IL spot, or is he being held on your bench? I’d prob lose him if no IL. Mehhhh, last 4 all seem like interchangable ThrAGNOFs. Worth streaming when they play and I’d make the Powell spot probably a steam spot. Jokic is maybe worth a grab too to see what happens

  6. Mike says:
    (link)

    Hey JB,
Im trying to trade my Sullinger and Wiggins for Gobert. Is that a good deal? Here is what my roster looks like now.

    PG: Lillard, Wall, Collison(IL)
SG/SF: Hayward, Burks, Bazemore, Barton, M Morris, CJ Miles, Wiggins
PF/C: P Gasol, Sullinger, Valanciunas, Powell

I was targeting Gobert or Ibaka with those two, and the Gobert owner seems agreeable to the trade. I think that trade will make my team really balanced, since Im weak in rebs and blks now. Im just afraid since Sullinger has been on a roll, and Wiggins had found his scoring and still has so much upside.
    Appreciate the comments!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Mike: Definitely! Gobert is a great buy low, and I think you have plenty of scoring. Agree Wiggins has the upside, I dunno how consistent Sully will be until the end of the year, but we’ll see, I think it’s worth it since you could use a high-upside big man. Any time!

  7. Rajon Rondo. Ugh, why does he keep doing this? I remember how good IT2 was as the Kings PG a couple of years ago and Rondo seems to be thriving, albeit in a different situation under a different coach. Is he worth targeting in trade offers or the probability of getting burned so high that it’s not worth it? I’ve talked to the Rondo owner and he’s wanting early round value in return…

    • Matt says:
      (link)

@WNWDOTCOM: That’s the problem with Rondo right now. The owners will want someone too valuable. Unless you think Rondo can do this all year it’s not worth the risk in that situation.

      • @Matt: Yep and that’s the quandary. I don’t believe Rondo can keep it up, if I had to guess, I doubt JB does either. Other fantasy sites say the same thing, temper expectations… BUT every time out he just keeps going…

He’s always been a high volume assists guy when healthy and that’s the main reason I want him. But I don’t want to part with something too valuable and DC end up taking this job. Hah, I just wish he’d regress or get benched!

        • Matt says:
          (link)

@WNWDOTCOM: What you need to do is find someone that the owner deems valuable (but deep down you know he will regress) and trade him for Rondo. Better yet focus on that owner’s needs and trade him someone decent at that. He should be good for ~10 assists a game regardless of how his rebounds, points or steals perform.

          • @Matt: The Rondo owner has been pretty unreasonable. He wants Marc Gasol and Jimmy Butler for Rondo/Klay Thompson and that’s not even close. I may target another high volume assists guy, which brings me to another question.

JB (and you can give input as well Matt, I really appreciate your comments): Is Lillard & Gobert for Wall & Pau Gasol a bad idea? I’m the Lillard owner but my league doesn’t count TOs.

            • ByeFelica says:
              (link)

@WNWDOTCOM: rondo is a cunt. He laid down in Dallas last year.

              • JB Gilpin

                JB Gilpin says:
                (link)

@Matt: @WNWDOTCOM: @ByeFelica: Haha wow, Rondo bashing begin! Another problem with it all is the one year deal, and the Kings are geniouses right now. If they can get a first rounder for him from someone, I bet they do it. Def not trying to get Rondo at that price.

Nah I’d want Lillard/Gobert side still

  8. Scott says:
    (link)

The Blake Griffin love is for real y’alls!

    • Matt says:
      (link)

@Scott: Just keep being consistently good so it’s hard to write a 2 line blurb about him…

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Scott: @Matt: I know it’s so hard to point out something interesting!

  9. dom says:
    (link)

hmmm if REB, AST, 3’s are the cats up for grabs, deciding between Porginzis and Rjax for my util spot. (TO is also close but I usually lose that. Categories W/L don’t count just the final matchup)

Jokic (PHO) has more pts/boards upside than Olynyk (BKN) tonight?

can J Clarkson get above 2.0 assists?his time w the rock in his hands might go down if they want to develop Russell during losing season. love the write ups!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@dom: Probably sticking with Rjax. But Porzingis does look awesome. And yeah, def more upside for Jokic. Hah yeah Clarkson should get there, I think he gets over 3 when it’s all said and done and Kobe gets more and more DNPs too

  10. jdubs says:
    (link)

JB! good stuff man, good stuff as always.

what do you think about my Jahlil Okafor and Elfrid Payton for his Jarrett Jack (Waaahh!)? or okafor and payton for tyreke?

I’m doing pretty well in rebs, asts, steals, and blocks but I’m getting killed in TOs, %s, and 3s. Still holding my own in the league though, lurking around the middle of the pack while people have been coming back from injuries

My team, 9 cat h2h 14 teamer, no IL:

    PG:Elfrid, McConnell, Teague
    SG: Jimmy Butler, LaVine, Covington
    SF: AGordon, Parsons
    PF: Sullinger, Favors
    C: Okafor, Gobert, Ezeli (Streaming)

There’s nothing that’s too amazing on the wire right now, just Dieng and a couple stashes (nurkic, wroten) but there are a few streamable guys I’d be okay with using for a couple weeks. Thanks for your advice and your site, keep on keepin’ on!

    • jdubs says:
      (link)

@jdubs: Casspi is also out on my wire, worth a pickup?

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@jdubs: Thanks man! Haha wahhhhhhhh I’m jarrett Jack indeed! Nahhhh, those both seem like overpays. No issue selling Okafor, but I love me my Elfrid even though he is hurting those cats. Yeah you don’t really need Dieng, long term like him over Ezeli, but I’m good streaming. I could see putting Casspi in that stream spot too and see what happens with the Gay news

  11. v00dr00 says:

Lastly, fiddling with the idea of getting Gorgui for his [re-found???] blocks for Bjelica? Thoughts/help?

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@v00dr00: Def Wall! Awesome move! And yup, gimme Dieng, who played a few mins with KAT last game and is showing an expanding range with his shot which is nice

  12. Eddie Rooskie says:
    (link)

Rudy Gogurt has been pretty underwhelming this year, especially after being ranked #11 on your top 200 list. I mean hes definitely swatting those balls, so to speak, but everything else is definitely down right now.

Hes definitely getting the minutes to produce but do you think after the injury it only gets better from here on out?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Eddie Rooskie: Yup! Why the ranks are for the full season and not rushing to too much judgment this early!

  13. Mic C says:
    (link)

Trade question. 12 team keeper- my Oladipo & Rubio for Klay and Tobias. My team is doing terrible and this would obviously hurt my assists but my logic is getting Klay for my 3rd and final keeper with drummond and Brow. Thinking for the future getting another top 20 guy before his buy low period is officially over.
Thanks for any thoughts and help

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Mic C: Well it’s too early to give up on the year, and yeah Brow injuries have slowed you down. If you have some other PG I love it, but yeah decimates AST

      • Mic C says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: or he wants dipo, dragic, parsons for Klay n Tobias. Thoughts on that?

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Mic C: While Dragic+Parsons in a vacuum is better than Rubio, I like holding Rubio there and trying that 3 for 2, gives you a pickup and a high-end AST source

          • Mic C says:
            (link)

@JB Gilpin: thanks JB, Ya it opens a stream spot for me which 6 or so streams totals would be better than 3-4 games from parsons. How’s your KCP love these days?

            • JB Gilpin

              JB Gilpin says:
              (link)

@Mic C: Agree there. KCP love is strong! Obviously it’s slowed down, but mins, 3PTA and steals are all there, so feeling good with my addiction haha

  14. Jeremy says:

Got offered brook lopez and porzingas for draymond. I should ignore this right? Only considering because my current other bigs are Chris bosh and gortat

    • JB Gilpin

@Jeremy: Yeah it’s a reject, or you could counter and try to get a better big man back

  16. booya says:

Would you trade Rondo along with one of Julius Randle, Hibbert, Sullinger or Porzingis for Pau?

I’m guessing you would rank those 4 as Porzingis, Sully, Hibbert, Randle right now?

    Thanks!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:

@booya: Sure! And yup, that order is 100% perfect. Love that offer, good luck! Any time!

@740: Whats up man?! If you have good PG depth behind Lowry, it’s a slam dunk! Value wise I love it, you bring in some injury risk, but you’re dealing a lot away too

@740: Eeesh, yeah you become an AST punt kinda… It’s just so much value to bring in. I think I do it, shop Mudiay, and AST punt

    Hey JB,

Just got offered Collison for Rondo. I have Wall, Payton and Clarkson.
    Yay Or Nay???

    • Ryan says:
      (link)

@Ankur: Most people on these boards like Collison over Rondo, but with the way Rajon is playing I’m sure you could sneak in a little more value.

As a word of caution, I’m one of those Collison fans, but am growing more and more convinced that Rondo will hang on to the starters job. He has such a tight relationship with Cousins (they go way back), and it seems like the gig is his so long as he doesn’t screw it up. For now, I wouldn’t do a Colly for Rondo swap, but I’m sure others will probably disagree.

      • Ankur says:
        (link)

        @Ryan:

        Hey Ryan,
        Appreciate it,
Its definitely super close and i think yeah , Rondo and Cousins are like the wild angry twins! Gonna hold off on the trade for now!

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Ryan: @Ankur: Yeah right now, I think I’d have to take Rondo ROS over Collison. That said, I think Collison is a better player, and the Kings are looking really smart getting Rondo on a 1year and can trade him. I’m holding.

Ryan – I am with you on your analysis right now. I guess Rondo gets traded, Cousins loses it, and Latrell Sprewell’s Karl

          • Ryan says:
            (link)

@JB Gilpin: Yeah I like this move by the Kings. It’s actually him and Rudy Gay that go way back, but Rondo has also gotten really close to Cousins this season. Looks like they were made for eachother..

I think these relationships have gotten him in the door in Sacramento and will likely keep him there. I saw the one-year contract as more of a “let’s see if he fits in” before making a major commitment type of deal. They could trade him or just cut ties with him if things don’t work out, but it seems like they are. Oh and Cousins would be strangling Vlade Divac since he’s the GM of the Kings! But who knows? Karl might also fall victim to his untamable fury and take an elbow in the process XD

            • JB Gilpin

              JB Gilpin says:
              (link)

              @Ryan: Hah it’s a solid threeway haha.

Well ya know, since Karl is the coach, he would just go for the scrawnier dude. Divac is still pretty big n scrappy himself!

  20. Dante Green says:
    (link)

Is there a possibility that Jparker averages 15/7 down the road?

Ty Lawson has been really struggling all season, who knows if he’ll be able to turn things around (Batum and Parsons failed to, last season). He just needs the ball in his hands to be effective and I think that’s not happening with the Beard out there? So if they do shake things up and give Beverley minutes, like 24-26-ish. Who then becomes a more 12-teamer rosterable guy between the two?

Alot of off the bench guys right now who are playing really well: Tjohnson, Cojo, Mario Chalmers… Is there anyone from these guys who can be as good as guys like Sweet Lou and IT? I mean players who don’t need to start, but can be as effective.

Collyyy hah. That hamstring injury kinda screwed him! Gave Rondo the chance to showcase his ‘skills’. Lol.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Dante Green: How far down the road we goin? Haha. Next year? Definitely. End of this year, like March/April? Maybe.

Hmmm, well Lawson would them presumably play 2nd unit mins and get all the PT when Harden is resting. I kinda think still Lawson as he could do a lot better on 2nd unit.

All 3 could be Lou, but none are IT2. Johnson is more a multi-cat guy and Cojo has little in 3s or STL. Wow, I just sold myself into saying Chalmers is closest to Lou haha.

      Ugh, yeah unfortunate hamstring strain!

      • Dante Green says:

        @JB Gilpin:
Marcus Smart…… I think I was a fool to think he could be “somebody” this season; that he’s improved his game, but I guess I was wrong. My patience has gone dry my friend, nothing is left. Nothing.. LOL. I’m moving on man.

What’s fckuing wrong with Carroll? He’s been shooting bricks I could already build a house! Jesus.

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Dante Green: Haha, yikes yeah it has gone downhilll… I’m still trying to hold Smart, but yeah, no bueno. Hah shooters like Carroll can go through slumps and his foot was a little iffy there, I think it gets better!

          • Dante Green says:
            (link)

            @JB Gilpin:
Do I want another headache by dropping Smart for Ilya? Hahaha

            (link)

            @JB Gilpin:
Or Calderon?? He’s trending up! Averaging 30 mins his last three games, 5 assists, with 2 treys! Would you drop him Marcus Dumb for him?

See how desprate I’m becoming, turning to Ilyasova and Calderon for help. Hahaha

          • Dante Green says:
            (link)

            @JB Gilpin:
Whoa Smart will be sidelined for the next two (or more) weeks. Making it alot easier to drop him! But who to pick up? ETurner? Need them PG stats! Or big man stats. Hah

            • JB Gilpin

              JB Gilpin says:
              (link)

@Dante Green: Hah yeah I put Calderon as a streamer this week! I think he’s the guy over Turner. Calderon is low end, but consistent minutes have been there in Knicks Ws. If you need pure big stats, I’d be good with Biyombo!

  21. Ryan says:
    (link)

Man can somebody tell me why Ibaka has been so awful? In the words of the great Chuck, he has been TURRIBLE. Who woulda thought that Zaza Pachulia would be my second best big this week with a stable of big men that includes Whiteside, Ibaka, and Vucevic?

    • hanns says:
      (link)

      @Ryan:

yeah I thought it was a huge win when I traded for ibaka, but he has been dissapoitning. I guess he really needs durant to make space for him.

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Ryan: @hanns: Well it’s only been two games and he plays better with Durant on the floor. It’ll get better. OH wow, hanns beat me to it, didn’t see your comment yet when I started typing haha

  22. Another Trade Question says:

Is it too much to drop Ty Lawson for Bayless?

    • Tim says:
      (link)

@Tim: Also somebody dropped Vucevic in my league. No idea why, but do I need him with this squad? 10 team 9 cat… I’m thinking of dropping Gortat

      Lawson
      DeRozan
      Gallinari
      Okafor
      Monroe
      Dragic
      Brow
      Horford
      Gortat
      Marcus Morris
      Hayward
      Ibaka
      Barton

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Tim: Haha whaaaaaaaat? Lawson goes for Vucevic for me, I’m holding Lawson most leagues, but yeah he can go

  24. Nick says:
    (link)

    Hey Jb!

    Dynasty league 8 cat.

I need a SG, hoping you could help. I’m heavy in SF’s right now. Draymond, Gallo, Tjones and A Gordon. I’m holding Gordon because its a dynasty league and I’m thinking it’s only a matter of time…

I don’t reallllly need TJ’s blocks cause I’ve got ibaka and Pau as well, but I do need an SG. At the moment I’m targeting Bazemore with a sway for TJ. What do you think? I like Bazemore’s steals, efficiency and 3’s at the moment.

Is there someone else I could target that’s worth the value of one of my SF’s? Obviously Draymond is going nowhere, so really its between Gallo and Jones or packaging them both.

    Thoughts?

    • Nick says:
      (link)

      @Nick:

Middleton? Fournier – Can he be trusted ROS?

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Nick: Nahhhhh I think that’s selling Tjones wayyyyyy too low. Plus Baze is still out. I’d trade Gallo before Jones – older, has had a lot of injuries… But I still wouldn’t do either for Middleton or Fournier. If you want Baze, def get a nice 2nd guy

  25. Trul says:
    (link)

I give up on Noah, ı dont want to wait for gasol for an injury. Waht do u think about dropping Noah for Powel, Len or Eddavis

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Trul: Yeah his bench role is annoying, I’m good nabbing Powell, but he has the same role issue, at least he has better %s and lower TO haha

  26. Jozeppi says:
    (link)

Hey jb, sitting on a trade offer right now and just cant decide. 8cat roto
    my drummond/dirk for vucci/nerlens/rudy gay.
obviously want to hear what’s up w rudy first. Any thoughts?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Jozeppi: Lovvvvve Cousins in 8cat, Rudy isn’t serious, it’s mad close, how deep is the league? If 8 or 10 I don’t do it, any deeper I like the depth

      • Jozeppi says:
        (link)

        @JB Gilpin:
i love cuz too, but talking dre drummond not dmc.
Funky ole 9 team league tho. I might hold since im middle of the pack w ft% for now anyway, love nerlins but im worried there, and skiles is messing with vucci.

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Jozeppi: Huh weird… Sorry was kinda rushing this morning to catch up! With it Drummo I like the deal for you. I know Skiles is messing with Vuc, but Nerlens without TO and non-serious Gay injury makes it solid for me

  27. Lawson says:
    (link)

    Hi JB!

I am waiting Dwight Powell to clear waivers to pick him for my team which is lacking bigs. I picked Jerami Grant recently but could be the one Id sacrifice, him or Gary Harris, Jeff Green. The rest of the team is Lillard, Mudiay, Schroder, Bledsoe, Danny Green, Joe Johnson, Aaron Gordon, TJones, Ibaka, Bosh (waiting to be traded for Vuc) and Nurkic. More interesting playes can be Biyombo, Lauvergne, Mills, Humphries, Evan Turner, Gerald Green, Stauskas, Wroten, Kaminsky, Henson….

    Thanks!

    • Lawson says:
      (link)

@Lawson: The trade that brought Vucevic instead of my Bosh to my team has been processed but is not the best time for it… It seems like Bosh is unstoppable at the moment and Vuc is getting benched. DO you think is smtg momentary?

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Lawson: Yeah long term I still like the Vuc pickup. Grant vs. Powell… Close. Powell is better in real life obviously, but I still dunno about the role, then again Covington is playing well now. I like that swap and holding Harris

  28. hamtime says:
    (link)

    1. my lillard/tjones for harden/demarre carroll
    2. my ibaka for hayward+henson
    3. my ibaka/dragic for faried/elfrid (im sure this is a no)
    4. my ibaka for batum
    5. my lillard/tjones/covington for harden/blopez

    • Lawson says:
      (link)

@hamtime: I have Lillard, TJones and Ibaka and I woudnt do any of those trades

      • JB Gilpin

@Lawson: 1. Sure! 2. Mehhhh, on the fence prob not though 3. Yeah nah 4. Nah 5. Sure!

@Lawson: Wow, wouldn’t get Harden in 1 or 5 without sacrificing much value with the other pieces?

  29. your mom says:

Sup. Trade question my bledsoe for his ibaka?
    14team 9cat roto league.
    Pg-bledsoe, Bradley
    SG/sf- harden, Barton, Matthews, covington
Pf/c- a.Davis, sully, Thad, Patterson, dieng, bjelica, meyers
    Thanks!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:

@your mom: Nahhhh, 9cat helps Ibaka and I think Ibaka gets better, but I think you need the G stats

  30. Larry says:
    (link)

    Hi JB,

    9-cat H2H 16 team 10 players –
CP3, Bledsoe, D.Williams, Tyreke, Gallo, Draymond, TJones, T. Chandler. My questions are for my other spot as the other one would be a streamer spot:
How would you rank Bazemore, Aaron Gordon, and Evan Turner ROS?
Also what is your outlook on the Denver bigs and Raptor bigs with JV’s injury? What about for Capela, Ezeli, and Dieng? Any of them better than Chandler? Thanks for the help!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Larry: I’d still go Gordon, Baze, Turner, even though I know it’s slow so far for Gordon. Still probably holding Chandler. Biyombo I think for medium term could be nice, I like Dieng getting a tad more run too, but I’m holding tough with Tyson for now

  31. Richard Yuan says:
    (link)

JB, big fan of you guys here at razzball.

I am offered LaMarcus Aldridge and jose calderon for kobe and AL Jefferson. I am thinking of cutting calderon for either Gary Harris or Patrick Patterson. It’s 9 cat + double double. 14 players league.

    My team right now:
    George Hill,
    Bradley Beal
    John Wall
    Tobias Harris
    Markieff Morris
    Draymond Green,
    Ryan Anderson,
    Al Jefferson
    Dwight Powell
    Aminu
    Kobe
    Jordan Clarkson
    Jusuf Nurkic

    FA options are
Patrick Patterson, TJ Warren, Biyombo, Bjelica, Myles Turner, JJ Hickson, Need your advice!!!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Richard Yuan: Thanks man! Hmmmm, yeah I think you take that. Then get Biyombo! Dubdub league helps him a ton

  32. Lasandro says:
    (link)

Oof, tjones really needs to spend time running layup lines. He’s been irritatingly inaccurate around the rim. Tell you what, if Dwight magically injures himself for the season, I’m raving to swap out jones with Capella. That kid looks awesome! Ah well, hoping jones turns it around because I need that fg% to improve on my team. But 7/9fts is bueno!

Picked up Barton last game and he looked great. Hit his first 5 I believe, then was forced into throwing up some tough shots to beat the clock. If he continues to get around 25min per (he really should if DEN wants to be competitive) would you rather him, Marv will or burks? I also own burks but I’d like to have Marv’s brds and blocks, but Barton’s high % volume scoring with a smattering of across the brd stats has me intrigued enough to hold him. 14cat roto FYI. Lamb is available too but outside of the scoring cats and %s I think Barton and co have a higher ceiling. Colli available but not touching him now with how rondo is playing ha. His 36min today could’ve also been as a result of Gay being out..

Also, who between Hibbert, plumlee and RoLo (who got abided by Capella today geez)?

    • Lasandro says:
      (link)

@jb Gilpin: how high are you on PG? Top 10? How does trading my LBJ and gobert for Pg and Hassan sound? Yes I know you’re not a an if whiteside’s ft% but that accounts for 1/14 of the cats in my L. Surely across the brd he’ll be a better performer than gobert yeah? Thoughts please. Can’t exactly sell high on LBJ as all the guys picked ahead have injury concerns (Paul, KD) or are just too good right now (the top 3).

    • Lasandro says:
      (link)

@JB Gilpin: Two names to add to your ranking of Lamb, Barton, Marv Wil and Burks: Bradley and Ish Smith. Ish is lookin great in his role, as long as Jrue is still on a mins limit.

    • Lasandro says:
      (link)

@JB Gilpin: And let’s add Jokic and J Hill (as long as Turner is out) to the rankings of Plumlee, Hibbert and RoLo.

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Lasandro: Hah I would agree with that! Capela is awesome. Maybe not straight cut Tjones, but def a must own. Barton has looked good, still the role man… Of the bigs I like Hibbert still. PG = top10, yessir! But nah, LBJ and Gobert should get more. Those G, Bradley is #1 for me right now with Smart hurt, Ish is moving up though. Still gonna take Hibby at big

      • Lasandro says:
        (link)

@jb Gilpin: interested to know why you’d like a thragnof like Bradley over a true multicat guy in Williams and even over your boy burks. If his 3 isn’t falling, he’s strictly a pts and stls guy, no? He doesn’t even go to the line like burks

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Lasandro: Well ThrAGNOF is more for H2H, not roto. I think the volume is gonna be there. Def over Williams, Burks is close

    Whats Up JP?!

I’d love to hear your thoughts on Ish Smith and the Pelicans going forward, now that Tyreke looks to be reinstated into the line up next week (this week??).
How do you think the minutes will be divided up? Obviously Jrue will likely still be limited to around 27 mins per game, and avoid one of back to back sets. Are we likely to see a lot of small ball line ups with Jrue, Gordan and Reke on the floor together with decent floor time off the bench for Ish…?

As I see it, it’s not unreasonable to expect around 22-26 mins out of Ish, which imo, makes him worth holding onto in standard 12 team roto leagues.

As always, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers!!!

26 might be high, 22-24 sure. Haha hope your Sunday went well with that whisky!

I have Joe Johnson. I picked him up a while ago mostly for extra assists. Would you drop him for Calderon? It’s a deep league.

I also just dropped Noah for Gary Harris. I am good for rebounds, so I didn’t want Noah hurting me with %s and TOs. Plus I have Joe Johnson, so his bad FG% was enough.

    • JB Gilpin
