Random comment about the Fantsy Pros website that you participated in for the ADP rankings. I looked up all of the expert websites and only Razzball and FB Ninja had Fantasy Basketball contact relevant to 2016-17. Go figure way alot of your guys picks where similar and I think FB Ninja is more forcused on Roto than H2H. Shit some of these “expert sites” didnt have any new material posted since 2014.. experts they call them… Give me a break.

@bgrizzle: Huh… Weird that FantasyPros isn’t trying to weed them out, I dunno… Well, it helps me look better! Haha. And I need to put my updates in there, I’m gonna do that now before I forget…

Ha, I’m in college at the U and they cancelled classes because of the hurricane…but then it never really hit us! But I still get you on that one, Slim. Anyway, just wanna say thanks JB – I got some of the guys you mentioned to join the commenters REL, so we’re all filled up! We finished picking keeper players today and the draft is Sunday night. What do you think of my team going into the draft?

PG – Elfrid Payton ($22), Tony Parker ($4)
    SG – DeRozan ($12), Wes Matthews ($8)
SF – Jimmy Butler ($44), Tobias Harris ($23)
PF – need 2 of them
    C – Steven Adams ($1), need 1 more
Utility – Zach LaVine, need 1 more
Bench – Bogdanovic ($3), Taj Gibson ($1), Delly ($1), Jeff Green ($1), and McDermott ($1)

We won the title last season but I couldn’t afford to keep John Wall for $64, especially with his potential injuries.
It leaves me with $75 going into the draft and four open roster spots. I’m thinking I need 3 more bigs and 1 more PG (even though I could technically rearrange the roster to make Tobias a PF, LaVine a PG, etc.) So maybe 1 stud big man ($50-55), 1 decent big man ($10-12), 1 decent PG ($10-12), and 1 cheap big man ($1-3). Any thoughts on draft targets for me? I guess it’s tough when you don’t have the list of player names, but maybe throw some names out there if you can.

@Lior: Yeah Slim is a little further North so was more in the path than Miami I think. But awesome to get a day ff!

Damn, yeah I can see why you won! Saucy depth. Pretty good AST and not awful TO. So I think your blocks are pretty much toast. And with all the guards, FG% is a concern. So I would get FG% boost bigs who board, and meh on blocks to help lower their price. Kanter? Monroe? Guys like that, but if one of the top 35 or so bigs is out there, I might drop that 50+.

Here’s me after several offseason trades. What you think?

      PG Russell Westbrook $59
      PG Isaiah Thomas $14
      SG Zach LaVine $6
      SG Kentavious Caldwell-Pope $12
      SF Kawhi Leonard $37
      SF Jae Crowder $1
      PF Dirk Nowitzki $22
      PF Luol Deng $12
      C John Henson $12
      C Tyson Chandler $9
      UTIL Courtney Lee $3
      UTIL Matt Barnes $2
      BN Cory Joseph $1
      BN Miles Plumlee $1
      BN
      BN
      BN
      IL
      TOTAL $191

      Spots 3

So $9 for 3 spots… Even with bad bigs, I think I can stay competitive against lower-end teams in those cats. 8 boards from Westbrook a game will help!

      • Lior says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Awesome, thanks for the advice! Yeah, my assists were awesome last year with J-Wall, but blocks and rebounds are a struggle. I’m thinking maybe a Blake Griffin type for FG%, even Dirk maybe for some shooting and points for a year (on nice percentages).

Love your team! I had Joseph for $1 too but I traded him to get Jimmy. Tough because I love Cory, but it was worth it for the title! The value for Joseph, Crowder, Lee, and LaVine is fantastic. I don’t really like Chandler on Phoenix, but Deng should be solid on that young Lakers team. Thomas and Kawhi are incredible steals at those prices. KCP finally turned the corner. Henson is kinda pricey, but he stabilizes your blocks. Barnes will do well in Sacramento IMO. Westbrook is gonna be a monster at only $59 (he was kept for 61 in our league and I consider that underpriced). You’re definitely right in contention, or at most one trade away. Maybe get another cheap shot blocker? I think you’re well off in steals, perfect in FT%, great in 3s. Rebounds and blocks are really the only weakness, but like you said, Westy could go nuts and really save you in boards. I think you should go for the Pachulia-types. Really underrated, could grab big boards on a small ball team.

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Lior: Yeah Blake would fit you beautifully. same with Dirk. I like him for his production with virtually no TO. So valuable in a deeper league I feel like, to manage TO in matchups where youre favored by a bit.

Thanks man! Meh yeah Chandler is only a keep due to it being a need. He might only go for 6 or 7, but I’m giving him a keep. I think my REB at first look a lot worse than they are too. My sexy wings Kawhi and Crowder gonna chip in a lot there. Blocks is def a weakness, I actually traded to get Henson and Plumlee in good value deals, so I felt the pair was nice, and they’re signed for a while. get Monroe out! I think Zaza is $1 so he’ll be kept, but yeah bigs is what I’ll be looking for, and the vet boring ones since I think I’m in win-now mode

          • Lior says:
            (link)

@JB Gilpin: Yeah that’s a good point about Dirk. Hopefully I can get a stud big. Blake, Horford, Draymond, Brow, and DeMarcus will all be available, and even KD can be used at PF.

I get you on Chandler – I might’ve let a guy like Payton go and tried to get him back but I didn’t want to risk losing him, so I’m sure you’re doing the same.

I didn’t even realize that those wings will get you a lot of boards, that’s a good point. Definitely makes up for the lack of bigs at least for a while. I think Monroe will be traded soon enough, so maybe those 2 will be unleashed. Too bad about Zaza, but that type of boring vet would be a perfect fit for you. Hopefully there are other options avialable somewhere

@JB Gilpin: Just BTW, I haven’t really kept up with everything this offseason since I’ve been busy with the start of college – did Yahoo copy your rankings AGAIN? Looks like they have the same top 4 in a different order, KAT at 5, etc. I’m not really looking to do a standard draft this year so it’s pretty much irrelevant to me, but I’m curious as to whether they’re gonna do their garbage again. You guys are pretty much top of the line here for this stuff. Thanks for doing what you do!

            • JB Gilpin

              JB Gilpin says:
              (link)

@Lior: Wow, yeah that’s a lot of guys available! I think since we’re a year further in there’s less people available – i.e. an extra year of guys on good contracts to sort out. Hear ya on Zaza, right at that level will be guys I’m looking for for sure.

Hah it’s two straight years where their re-ranks shockingly look like my ranks! I have no idea man, maybe they’ll hire me to fix their ish one day! Haha. Really appreciate that man, we try to carry the torch for the good knowledge!

                (link)

@JB Gilpin: Haha, would love it if they hired you but then it’d become impossible to dominate in fantasy with everyone having your rankings!

@jay: Yeah that’s the time in which JB is going to open up the league on the RCL page and then it’s 1st come 1st serve. So yeah Black Friday fits pretty well.

    Hi jb,
Is it worth to trade Zaza + bogut to Rolo ? In 18ers Roto. or keep it for the deph . Mirotic + Zaza+ bogut. For Jokic worth it ?

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@Nont nontiskul: Hmm… 1st one is tough. RoLo is what he is but those 2 are pretty strong depth (until Bogut goes down). If you did that 1st trade I wouldn’t hate it because of Boguts injury history and Zaza’s boringness and now on a team that needs him offensively even less than last year. The 2nd trade is a hell yes, but I’m not a believer in Mirotic. He’s a pretty big FG% drain, but slightly better than most THRAGNOFs because of he might get to 1.0 blocks with enough minutes. Jokic is so much better and finding those 3s on waivers, even in an 18er won’t be too difficult. I know it’s a lot of depth but I don’t think you’ll regret it.

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Nont nontiskul: @Slim: Yeah in 18ers, I’m def holding off on the first trade. Agree Bogut is so injury prone, but Zaza is almost the same as Rolo in roto for me.

Agree, I’ll take Jokic, even though it’s a lot of depth in that 2nd trade.

Nurk/Jokic–preseason but gotta say Nurk is beasting right now and Jokic has looked terrible on the PnR defense

    • Lasandro says:
      (link)

@jay: I’m with you bro. It’s really hard to overlook Nurk as a high pick. The “injury risk” can go F itself – he’s well worth it and extremely fun to watch. Plus losing 35 pounds in the offseason has to alleviate a ton of stress on those joints of his. I’m in.

            (link)

@JB Gilpin: We said that would happen on the podcast before they played any preseason games. The “industry” was way off on this one early.

I’ve already got the Nuggets-Jazz games circled on my calender. I’m also excited to see Nurk vs Whiteside and Goose vs Jokic and Nurk vs Adams, Nurk vs Kanter too but for a completely different reason. Vs Kanter is going to look like 5on4 basketball.

            • jay says:
              (link)

@Slim: I’d love to see Nurk Vs Boogie too. Although if it’s Jokic guarding him, Boogie is gonna feast.

Nurk vs. Whiteside, ohhhhhhh man. That will be quite an epic matchup

    JB,

I’ve got pick 5 in my h2h 8 man league this week, im thinking of playing it safe and going someone like lebron or CP3. but part of me thinks i should be taking a chance on either KAT or Anthony Davis, any guidance on who i should go for?

    Thanks

    • Coen says:
      (link)

      @Everybody loves draymond:

I’m in the same boat, fifth pick in a 12 man H2H and I’m definitely going with Towns. I know it’s a bit of a gamble, but my reasoning is this: CP3 isn’t going to win me anything, he’s a known commodity. KAT just might soar and if that happens, you’ve just made a winning pick in the first round. And if he doesn’t, his baseline is still just as good as CP3’s.

I’m looking to pair him with Draymond in the second round. I think he’ll drop to 20 in our draft. People seem hesitant picking him up with KD joining the lane, but I think he’ll be terrific value at that point.

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Everybody loves draymond: @Coen: I think KAT is the clear #5 in 9 cat leagues. Things get shaken up in other formats, but he brings it all to the table, including surprising AST.

I’m lower on Dray than last year, but yeah, 20th would be great value for him
