Andre Drummond exploded with Christmas cheer off the bench last night with 11 points, 14 rebounds and 5 blocks in just 21 minutes. Holy night! Come they played him, pa rum pum pum pum. Aaan-dre Druuum-moond, pa rum pum pum pum. Rebounds and blocks he bring, pa rum pum pum pum. To help your fantasy team, pa rum pum pum pum. Rum pum pum pum. La la la la….Anyway, are you still upset you missed out on the Larry Sanders sweepstakes? Andre Drummond could be the next big thing. Over his past six games, Drummond is averaging 11.6 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game. Andre still isn’t getting enough minutes to be a real fantasy force, but after a game like last night its hard to believe coach Lawrence Frank won’t give his minutes a bump. If you’re one of the millions of children with “Rebounds” and “Blocks” on their Christmas list, Andre Drummond could be worth the flier for his upside alone. A pick up fit for a king, pa rum pum pum pum! Rum pum pum pum. This song is dumb!
Here’s what else happened Friday night in fantasy basketball (yuletide edition):
Luol Deng – 29 pts, 13 reb. Deng was doing his theng last night before leaving with a shoulder injury. He returned and shouldn’t miss a beat, he’ll continue to play 60+ minutes a night.
Marco Belinelli – 22 pts, 7 reb, 2 stl in 45 minutes. The Bulls handed the Knicks just their second home loss of the season and the Champagne Cocktail was a big reason why. He’s available in over 30% of yahoo leagues and is averaging 16 pts, 3.3 rebs, 1.5 ast, 1.5 stl and 1.3 3pm. He also made 11-12 free throws! Fantasy Pro Tip* that will help your free throw percentage!
Kirk Hinrich – 16 pts, 9 reb, 8 ast, 1 stl, 4 3pm in 38 minutes. Third game back from knee injury and what a game! I don’t think I’ve seen Hinrich play so well since Kansas.
Larry Sanders – 17 pts, 20 reb, 3 ast, 2 stl, 1 blk. 18 defensive rebounds versus the floundering Celtics who apparently were so sick of rebounds they just gave them all to Sanders. Have you ever been so on about someone/something from the start that you feel like a jerk just mentioning him/it? It’s kinda like that. #humblebrag
Jeff Green – 14 pts, 3 reb, 4 stl, 2 ast, 2 blk in 28 minutes. Pretty little line. If you could count on any consistency from Green I’d recommend him–but you can’t, so I won’t.
Luc Richard Mbah a Moute – 20 pts, 6 reb, 2 ast. Blast you, your highness! If you keep performing well I’ll continue to have to type your name! Prince Mbah a Moute has his games, and played 40 minutes last night. But I need to see more before I recommended him outside of deeper leagues.
Shawn Marion – 37 minutes, 14 points, 11 rebounds, 2 ast, 3 blk. I am a sucker for, Marion. I know he’s old, and shoots funny, and plays for a terrible team, but Santa be damned if he doesn’t know how to contribute to a fantasy team! Worth the own as long as the Matrix is playing 35+ minutes a night. Also, he knows kung fu.
Anthony Davis – 18 pts, 11 reb, 1 blk. Consider your buy low window closed.
Austin Rivers – 7 pts, 5 reb, 2 ast. Continues to start despite being just awful. It’s a Christmas miracle!
Gerald Green – 14 pts, 2 3pm. Green has gotten more than enough playing time but hasn’t really produced statistically. He left the game last night with a sprained ankle. Lance Stephenson looks see a minutes bump and was on last night with 16 pts, 7 ast, 2 reb, 2 stl (7-8 FG). He’s worth keeping an eye on.
Tyler Zeller – 12 pts, 7 rebs in 35 minutes. His second start of the season after scoring 20 pts on Wednesday. As long as Anderson Varejao is out, Old Zeller is worth a look while he’s starting for Cleveland.
Tristan Thompson – 12 pts, 13 reb, 2 blk. Now two straight dub-dubs with Varejao out. Varejao hoards rebounds, so much like Zeller, take advantage of Thompson while Anderson’s on the shelf.
J.R. Smith – 26 pts, 10 reb, 2 ast. And that, my friends, is Dallas.
Nikola Vucevic – 16 pts, 12 reb, 2 blk, (8-12 FG). Nikola is still unowned in about a third of Yahoo leagues, but with Glen Davis sidelined he should be owned everywhere. Gustavo Ayon is also benefiting in Big Baby’s absence and had a double double of his own off the bench (12 pts, 13 rebs).
Jrue Holiday – 11 pts, 7 ast, 4 reb. Returned from injury last night. I don’t know about Jrue, but the Sixers were really hurting without him.
Jason Richardson – 17 pts, 8 reb, 7 ast, 2 stl, 1 blk. No one was happier than J-Rich to see Holiday back in the line up. Dishing dimes, taking names, etc., etc.
Amir Johnson – 10 pts, 7 reb, 2 blk in 35 minutes off the bench. Ed Davis got the start and put up an eerily identical line of 10 pts, 6 reb, 2 ast, 2 stl, 1 blk. I am pretty sure they are the same person, but regardless there are stats to be had here. I prefer Johnson slightly over Davis but if you close your eyes and pick one up, in a week you probably won’t know the difference.
Gerald Henderson – 23 pts, 4 reb, 5 ast, 1 blk. It’s kind of shocking that Henderson is owned in less than 40% of yahoo leagues. Admit it, it’s because he’s on the Bobcats isn’t it? Fair enough.
Stephan Curry – 27 pts, 8 ast, 3 reb, 2 blk, 8 3pm. EIGHT THREES! It’s another Christmas miracle!
Bismack Biyombo – 12 pts, 14 reb, 2 blk. If you need blocks/rebounds you could do worse than the Bismack-daddy.
Kawhi Leonard – 8 pts, 2 reb, 1 ast, 2 stl, 1 blk and 1 3pm in 20 minutes off the bench. His first game back from injury K-Leo wasted no time filling up the stat sheet in limited minutes. Yes, you should pick him up.
Matt Barnes – 13 pts, 5 reb, 3 blk. Barnes has been especially hot (a Barnes burner!) during the Clippers streak, and is averaging 13.8 pts, 4.3 rebs, 1.8 ast, and 1.5 blk over the past seven days. Matt can do it all, none of it particularly well, but he’s worth owning while he’s hot.
Chris Paul – 24 pts, 5 reb, 13 ast, 5 stl. Oh, I see what you did there…you are good at basketball.
Jason Thompson – 10 pts, 8 reb, 2 ast, 2 blk. Ugh. Oh Kings. You know a team is bad when it makes you physically ill just talking about them. Only Jimmer (16 pts) and Isaiah Thomas (12 pts) scored more than Thompson. Yes, Jimmer Fredette. Do you know any other Jimmers? DeMarcus Cousins (9 pts, 5 rebs) got benched halfway through this game for being a punk, but what else is new. Meanwhile, Aaron Brooks (6 pts, 2 ast) is probably playing the worst basketball of anyone in the league right now, got completely owned by CP3, and is holding the youth movement back in Sacramento. Talk about needing a Christmas miracle. The Kings. Are. Terrible.
Happy holidays! Join us next Saturday for another Friday recap, as fantasy basketball continues next week, all week long!

should i trade shved for spencer hawes? i get hawes. Im in a 20 team head to head points league.
@dan: Depends on need, Hawes will probably get a lot more rebounds/block than Shved, who will get more assists/points than Hawes. In a vacuum, I like Shved’s chances to stay in the starting lineup for Minn, more than Hawes chances at more PT. I’d stick with Shved.
@Blairtch: thanks
Hey whats up man. I usually talk to James but i haven’t heard from him in days… Can you please help me out whenever you get this cause I really need advice asap… Thanks buddy.. Also Im from Jersey so It’s 3 hours ahead. I’m not really hitting you up at 4 in the morning… LOL.. Its still early but I got kids. lol
Also I was reading your blog which is funny n awesome.. I was wondering iof I should pick up Marco Belinelli.. I’ll show you my line-up but how bout for jason Kidd?? idk??? also i need help with a trade proposal
@Frank Lynch: Not a fan of JKidd’s fantasy-wise but he has been very helpful this season, contributing across all categories. I would hold onto Kidd for now.
This is my line up
kevin durant
kevin love
ty lawson
evan turner
jj redick
roy hibbert
tyson chandler
jason kidd
george hill
tony parker
derrick favors
greg monroe
kahwi leonard
danilo galinari
I’m in 2nd place and I’m winning this week 9-2… Its a head to head and 11 categories so each week i play someone different and at the end of the week whatever the score is, like 9-2, thats what goes on your main record… 10 person league. My question is. Is there any moves I should make or dont fix whats not broken? also i got a trade proposal, He wants Parker for kyle lowry and bradley beal… No good right?
@Frank Lynch: Yeah, second place you don’t want to change too much, you have a good thing going and a good team. KD is the man. Love is only gonna get better as he starts to hit his stride, and the same goes for Leonard. I really do like Kyle Lowry but I wouldn’t make a trade for him while he’s injured. If Lowry’s healthy I’d consider the Parker trade but you really have no place for Beal right now.
Thank man I appreciate it… I actually sent him a counter trade, Parker for Pierce… lol idk if he’ll do it.. When is lowry supposed to be healthy? also, Lawson got hurt last night. Is it something to be worried about?
@Frank Lynch: Lowry should be back soon, but I wouldn’t deal for him until I know he’s OK. And yeah, fantasy basketball is a lot different from football but if you have Durant or Lebron, especially in head-to-head, you have a pretty good chance to compete every week.
Im big into fantasy football and this is the first time I’m doing basketball. I don’t know much about it but what I see on sportscenter but I bet I’m pissing alot of people off being the new dumb rookie wooping ass right now!!! LOL
Do you think asking for pierce is unfair??
@Frank Lynch: you’re most likely not gonna get pierce, and i wouldnt take on Lowry and give away anything worth while. He’s becoming increasingly known as injury prone…. i’d just stand pat with what you got.
18 teamer cbs fantasy pts league, keep 4, etc etc….
would you deal a $40 Monta ellis & say a $10 toney douglas to get a $16 drummond and a $31 MKG?
I’m thinking of offering that. Monta’s the most stable guy and best player in the deal, but Drummond’s beginning to look like the real deal and at $16? ridiculous keeper price, MKG sprinkles in alot of good games, i most likely won’t/cant keep Monta at that price, but my teams been rolling this year so Im not sure if I wanna give up the stability and gamble on these young bucks?
@Tony: Yeah, that seems like a trade for the future and you’re probably not going to compete as well without Monta. MKG does a lot of everything, but doesn’t overwhelm in any category but $31 seems kind of high. Good price for Drummond but he still has to fix that FT% which could kill you in a roto league. I think if your team is competitive now, its too early to make a trade like that.
@Blairtch: hey thanks for the reply, its an 18 team cbs fantasy pts league, so basically here’s the scoring:
pts=1
rebs=1.7
asts=3
treys=4
stls=4.4
blks=6.5
so turnovers, percentages, cateogries really don’t matter as long as they do enough to score enough fantasy pts.
MKG has 1088fpts over 27 games
Drummond 991/30
Obviously these two have gotten better as the seasons went on.
Monta 1399/26
Toney D. 680/25
Monta’s the best player like i mentioned, but Drummond’s getting better and better, MKG is pretty nice in this leagues settings, and for the future drum could be a huge keep. I dont even know if the other owner would accept this…..
@Tony: and what kinda FA $ would you bid on AYON? i’ve got like $56 of my $100.
@Tony: Considering Ayon’s role is temporary depending on Big Baby’s return I would bid conservatively. Friday was his best game of the year so don’t go overboard until you see some consistency from him.
@Tony: In that case, someone with block potential like Drummond is valuable, especially at that price. I’m not as crazy about MKG’s price but Monta and his three’s certainly have a lot of value too. All things considered, if you can pull off the trade it looks like your points wouldn’t take much of a hit and it def sets you up better for the future.
Hey buddy I have another dillema… I have vincent Jacson in and he’s been doin great but i have Amendola on my bench and tampa gave the most fantasy points to WR’s this year.. On the super bowl, do you think I should make a crazy switch like that or keep Jackson?
@Frank Lynch: I think only in a PPR league I MIGHT consider Amendola over Vjax, but this is the championship, more than matchups you gotta go with the guys that got you there and I’d go with Vincent Jackson.
Oh man I’m sorry dude I was talking to sky over in football and I hit you up by accident.. LOL
12 team, 9 cat h2h
traded lillard and rudy gay and drummond for dwight and david west. i win right
@tomhimself: Probably gonna take a hit in assists and FT% but I think its a fair trade for sure. Dwight can be a beast in head-to-head if you’re punting FT% and west and drummond will help dominate boards and blocks.
@Blairtch: I gave away drummond as well
Another trade
12 Team h2h 9 category
My Team
Goran Dragic (Pho – PG)
Russell Westbrook(OKC – PG)
Alexy Shved (Minn- PG, SG)
Marcus Thornton(Sac – SG)
Kawhi Leonard (SA – SG,SF)INJ
Josh Smith (Atl – SF,PF)
Chandler Parsons (Hou – SF,PF)
David West (Ind- PF)
Al Horford (Atl – PF,C)
Ed Davis(Tor – PF,C)
Amir johnson (Tor – PF,C)
Dwight Howardl(Lal – C)
Tiago Splitter (Sas- C)
I trade David West and Chandler Parsons for Varejo and Ray Allen. THoughts?
This is his team, any other trade suggestions?
Steve Nash
Jameer Nelson
Tony Parker
Jason Richardson
Ray Allen
Luke Ridnour
Jordan Crawford
Luol Deng
Tayshaun Prince
Tim Duncan
LeBron James
Anderson Varejao
Spencer Hawes
@tomhimself: I like it. Ray will be good for percentages and 3′s and Varejao is a beast on the boards. Sold high on parsons which is good.
hey buddy goodmorning… I’m stll in 2nd and down by 1win and I’m playing the number 1 guy this week. I’m pisse cause love only plays twice and durant 3 times. Also i hope Ty Lawson doesn’t miss any games.. Is there any moves i should make to ge an edge or just ride it out?
Oh and i got another proposal from that same dude except this time he wants love,,, no way!!! parker and love for pierce and ginobili… no way right?? let me show you his line up and tell me if i should make any moves. especially cause my guys this week aren’t playing much and i know he wants parker. he has:
kyrie irving
bradley beal
paul pierce
mo williams
gordon hayward
kyle kover
andrea bargnani
nene hilario
ryan anderson
raymond sessions
brandon knight
manu ginobili
kyle lowry
serge ibaka
@Frank Lynch: I wouldn’t make any moves right now, you’re in second you’re doing something right. Keep it going.
ok… one more thing, I know you saif no moves but would you look at tyreke evens n drop kidd? he’s on the waivers. Just a little worried cause my main guys aren’t playing much t
@Frank Lynch: I think if you’re really worried about it you could drop kidd for a player with a more games this week, I’m not sure I’d go with anyone on the kings though
this week and i’m playing 1st place guy
Hey whats up… Can you hit me back if your around today please??
do you think this is a good trade? im giving him tony parker and danilo gallinari and i’m asking for Kyrie irving and paul pierce…. Do you think thats way to un even for him or what?
@Frank Lynch: I think that’s you’re asking for a lot. Parker and Gallinari should be a enough to get you Kyrie though.
If not then what should I propose? i can give you his team if you want.. or maybe i should throw sdomeone else in?
Hey whats up… I really need your opinion on this one. Like I said I’m playing the 1st place guy and I’m in 2nd but he’s killing me 9-0 but every category is close within like 5 points. I read your blog and picked up drummond for Kidd.. I got Drummond, jj reddick, kawhi leanord and Derrick favors.. Which 2 should I bench????
@Frank Lynch: @Frank Lynch: Depends on what categories your up/down in, Drummond and Favors for rebounds/blocks, reddick for 3s. But category needs aside I’d bench drummond and favors.
Al;so if you have time for this question.. Should I propose that trade? parker n gallinari? or should i do parker and someone else? if you can look at my line-up again just please let me know what I should propose? For Kyrie or Pierce? Whatever you thinkl I should do. I value your opinion.. Thanks
@Frank Lynch: I think your team is very good but also probably needs Parker’s assists. Lowry is your only other point guard so if you trade Parker you should make sure you can make up the assists you lose. Your team is good, I would hold on the trade for now.
yeah well im down on every category by like 2 -7 points so its close except for points.. bench drummond even though he’s been putting up double doubles? or you think luck will run out. lol.. do you think it was stupid to drop Kidd for him?
@Frank Lynch: I went with redick and leonard because I think they have the potential to contribute the most all around. If I am trying to win rebounds and blocks I’d go with favors and drummond. I just thought the odds are better the other two will contribute in many categories and you said you were close in all of them. Also, I meant to type Lawson not Lowry, sorry.
I don’t have lowry though.. My guards are, Ty Lawson, Parker Reddick, George Hill, Evan Turner and Leonard
thanks alot man…
Oh since I have you on the line, by the way reading all you guys blogs help me so much understand fantasy basketball. Before thi When I first started It was like I was going in blind cause I only knew enough about ball from what I see on sportscenter so Thnk you again. If you think I ask too many questions, thats why.LOL. BUt since I have you on the line, I read Chris’s blog and He was talking good about Spencer Hawes and Alexy Shved.. They’rre both free agents on the wire. Are any of those guys worth picking up for maybe like Favors or Drummond???
@Frank Lynch: Shved is worth considering as long as he’s starting, but you did just pick up Drummond. Drummond is more of a stash/upside pick up, whereas Shved will produce now. Depends what you need, rebs, blks stick with Drummond for now.
I swear no more questions after this!!!! Lol Seriously though
I know your probly busy but if you can please let me know by the end of the day i would appreciate it cause if i pick up a player then you dont get them till the next day
well I was gonna do shved for favors… What you think??
@Frank Lynch: Yeah I’d probably want Shved over favors
