I’ve seen enough.  Injury prone label be damned, Stephen Curry rises to the second tier of the point guard rankings.  I’ve always loved the talent but that ankle injury is frightening (I drafted him in the 2nd round last year…sigh).  Through 25 games this year Curry has stayed healthy and hasn’t missed a start.  He’s also averaging 19.4 points (career high), 4.1 boards, 6.4 assists (career high), 1.6 steals, 2.6 three’s (career high), 89.7% FT, and 42.2% FG (career low).  Yeah that’s right, 19.4 points on a career low FG… and it’s not even close to his second lowest percent of 46.2% his rookie season.  The guy is a stud and COULD be better if his FG% rises some.  Did I also mention his 3P% is a career low 41.7%?  These percentages will keep rising, especially since Klay Thompson has regained some of his shooting touch.  If you have Curry, you’re probably sitting in a good place because of the draft value you got for him.

Quick Hits:  I’m relenting on Damian Lillard, he’s moved up a bit.  Jason Kidd has been too hot for too long so I’ve moved up him in front of his teammate Ray FeltonRicky Rubio is playing again and his impending monstrous assist numbers put him in the same tier as Tony Parker and Kemba Walker.  Gerald Henderson gets a generous boost with his return to the starting lineup.  Jordan Crawford gets a similar boost.

@Neel: In front of Lawson. Ugh, I deleted his name to move him and forgot to paste. Awesome.

If only Westbrook wasn’t having career low shooting percentages. He’d be in the same tier as CP3 for sure.

What the reasoning with OJ Mayo . He’s more way more efficient than Monta and Joe Johnson this year. Dirk’s return looming? or maybe he cant keep this up for the rest of the year?

@Jeff Lam: A little bit of both there. He’s disappointed many times in the past so I’m not willing to give him full confidence.

    • ETMcgee says:
      (link)

@Yumi: i agree, i’d move him up a bit as well. his lack of 3s and assists is tough to swallow from the SG position, as you would have to compensate with a big that shoots 3s, additional pgs for assists, or some combination to try to offset his production from the SG spot. i like him a little better as a SF, though you would still like some 3s and some additional blocks/steals if playing him at SF

@ETMcgee: Don’t forget his subpar FG% for a guy that doesn’t hit 3′s. I can’t stand his fantasy game. Your explanation is exactly why.

outside of harden and kobe, sg is kind of a total crapfest. dwade has his moments, but i feel like his name value is greater than his actual value (fantasy wise), especially if/when he starts missing games and during blowouts. As for the rest of the true SGs, most have at least 1-2 gaping holes in their lines. i’m very glad batum has SG eligibility, b/c he has been my primary SG on my roto-keeper league team (since i have KD at SF)…

@ETMcgee: Yup, if you didnt draft a SG in the first 2 rounds then you should’ve just waited until round 10 or so. I am happy that Klay Thompson has been turning it around lately though.

    4 keeper league, 12 cat .. Heavy on Boards ( Oreb/ DD/TD) 3 reb cats
    Lbj/WestB/Irving/Batum/gallio/millsap/Hickson/nene/D’Jordan
I’m in first but i see two other teams with THICK bigs, If i want to win will need to unload WestB im thinking
Should I do this? should I shop around for some great bigs? should I just take the hit and keep westb/ Irving and lbj? Paulg and Rudy are pretty damn good and can board decent.. it would give me more man power but I dont think i can part with west.. just wanted to hear what u guys think
    thanks

@Moez: thinking I might do it.. I would have a lot of great players I could trade in the off season for that last keeper.. I like LBj/Irving/batum and with gay/PaulG/millsap I could for sure land someone.. or should I keep westbrook lol damn. hmm

@James Redacted: HMM.. yeah good call.. I would only have irving and Ramon Sessions.. I traded Calderson for d’Jordan( damn) yet he’s been good for so far.. with lbj and all the SF’s.. it should give me okay assists but yeah ur right i won’t be winning that cat..hmm!! thanks man maybe ill look around for a pG tonight or see if i can find a better deal

@James Redacted: for some reason I see gallio getting hurt and McGee only getting better as the season goes on and his blocks are monster, like a for sure thing.. he can score and reb but he’s just slow in the head.. yet I think he will come..BUT.. yeah.. I can’t give up westbrook.. d00d is going to go off for a QD(Quadruple Doubles) soon.. be the first player in years.. if batum doesnt but.. its going to happen soon! mark it! thanks again maybe ill cancel it.

I’m in a 10 team H2H league. This is my current team. My strategy all year so far has been trading up w/ 2 for 1′s or similar trades to get the best player possible in trades and so far it has worked.

    Westbrook
    Afflalo
    Kidd
    C. Anthony
    P. George
    J-Smooth
    Larry Sanders
    DMC
    Thornton
    Tyreke
    Rubio
    Wall
    Marion

James Harden is one of my favorite players and some guy in my league is willing to give him up. Right now he wants Affalo, Rubio and DMC for James Harden. I’d be very thin at center if I do, but I’d probably have the best guard/forward combination in my league after this. Is this trade rape for me? Would this be giving up too much? He has pau and I’m trying to get him as a throw in (for my center deficiency) and possible give up wall, reke, thornton, kidd. What do you think about this trade? I

    • James Redacted

      James Redacted says:
      (link)

@ninja: Yea I’d do that deal. If you can get Pau too, I would do that. See if he would take Thornton first.

      • ninja says:
        (link)

        @James Redacted:

Ended up getting Harden + Pau for Afflalo, DMC, Rubio, Evans, Thornton. :D I picked up Thornton off the waiver a few days ago so it was essentially Evans for Pau. As a laker fan and harden I can say that I am 100% happy with this trade.

        • ninja says:
          (link)

          @ninja:

Now I don’t have to deal with Tyreke’s flimsy knee’s……just Pau’s ancient knee’s now haha

          James Redacted says:
          (link)

@ninja: Ah you had to give up Evans? Oh well. I still like the trade. In a 10 teamer you should have decent waiver options.

I just got offered Ibaka (and I do need blocks) for Brandon Jennings and Cousins, who has really killed me this year. Jennings has been good, but his shooting % has killed me too. What do you think? Its a 12 team rotisserie league. Thanks.

    • James Redacted

      James Redacted says:
      (link)

@Luis: I think you would be underselling slightly here. Cousins’ value is pretty low right now. I’d wait for him to rip off some nice games and then sell.

  11. Eric says:

Joe Johnson is overrated. Another case where draft order and reputation exceeds that of production. I’d prefer to have O.J. Mayo even when dirk returns he’ll have better FG, FT, & steals while still averaging 18 points minimum.

Other than the elites at their position, SG is the worst fantasy position, they’re pretty much like PGs but with less assists.

    Eric Gordon?

Rondo should be up to par with Dragic & Dwill. Yeah, he doesn’t shoot great FT% and turns the ball over, but he gets you the assists of two PGs w/ elite steals, shooting 50+%FG w/ a good rebounding rate for a PG. Since 2010 he’s had more than 10 triple doubles.

Thanks for all your hard work!

    • James Redacted

      James Redacted says:
      (link)

@Eric: You think OJ Mayo can maintain his 52% from 3? I don’t. I’ll take the ~ 4 assists JJ gives ya.

As for Rondo, I really want 3′s from my PG’s. His triple doubles, while very good, are a little bit misleading because he doesn’t score more than 13 points a game. I’m just trying to say it isn’t like LBJ going 25/10/10 or something.

      • Eric says:
        (link)

        @James Redacted:

Mayo averages same number of assists as Joe Johnson. I wish he wouldn’t keep up his 3 point % because I don’t own him but he keeps proving me wrong. He’s still hitting 50% from 3 in the month of December. I can see two games in a row being a fluke, two weeks in a row being a fluke, but not two months. If anything he’ll get better shots when Dirk comes back. Again, I think it’s another case of being overrated by a player’s draft position & reputation. Joe Johnson, while a solid player, is the epitome of this in fantasy. The most commonly owned players by winning in yahoo leagues are the following: Kevin Durant & OJ Mayo. Joe Johnson isn’t even close.

As for Rondo, when you can compare him with other starting PGs, he has the best FG%, 2nd best rebounding behind Kyle Lowry, top 5 in steals, and is the equivalent of 2 PGs in assists. TWO! Yes, you’d like 3s and FTs from the PG position, which is why he’s below CP3, Russell Westbrook, but at least the same level as Dragic.

Kemba is also too low. He should be the equal of Mike Conley given that he gets 5 more points again while being comparable in all other categories. The same could true in comparison w/ Jennings, except that Jennings shoots 1 more 3 but gets a lower FG.

    • James Redacted

      James Redacted says:
      (link)

@Eric: Kemba has had a great start to the season but he needs to keep doing what he’s doing before I believe in him 100%. I still have nightmares of his 36% shooting last year.

      • Eric says:
        (link)

        @James Redacted:

The rankings should be based on what a player has done so far right? His 36% shooting last year is why no one drafted him high, but if the drafted started today, I would definitely draft him over Tony Parker or Rubio. He’s of the same caliber as Mike Conley if not better. He’s hit 49% of his FGs in December and pretty much putting up #s of what you had hoped for in Ty Lawson, who has disappointed.

Rankings should be based on the #s not draft position or reputation.

          James Redacted says:
          (link)

@Eric: rankings are not based on performance up to this point… otherwise jason kidd would be a ton higher. They are who i would rather have ROS.
