Razzball Nation!  As you may or may not have read in my final “real” post, I have retired from fantasy writing and Razzball, and this is the final stop for me as we part ways.  This feels so much like a breakup!  But it’s just closing the book on our 3-year run of launching and running the Razzball Basketball Pod.  It will be missed!  We look back on 3 years of memories, jokes, and our tenure at Razzball for one last time, and hopefully you have a few drinks with us.  It’s like The Last Supper!  So for one last time, catch up with Slim & I on the airwaves as we sign off from Razzball Basketball.  Will miss you all!

Hey man, just wanted say finding razzball was what got me hooked onto fantasy. Your content was always insightful and your humor always appreciated. Always looked forward to your posts. Wishing you all the best! Thank you!

@Andy: Damn that’s some strong praise, I really appreciate that. Fantasy is awesome, and just converting anyone to the fun of it was worth my time here. Thanks so much for reading, and keep in touch if you have twitter! @jbgilpin! Thank YOU for reading and giving us your time!

@Lasandro: I think you’ll like it 🙂 It’s as good a series finale as it comes. We’re like The Leftovers! 3 great seasons then we’re ending high

Great listen as expected. Thanks for everything you did JB. I actually found Razzball because I had no idea where to start with fantasy basketball when I joined my first league. You helped me a ton in that regard and now I’m writing here, pretty crazy. You helped me when I set up the hockey podcast, basically whatever I needed, so I’m grateful.

Obviously I have to talk with Tehol about our plan and we don’t want to copy what Slim and you did but I would definitely like to keep The 30 Point Challenge going. It would give you and Slim the chance to make your picks when you can and it’s a good way to keep the listeners / commenters involved. I made my own hockey version based on it so I see no reason to not keep both going.

Best wishes for you going forward

@Viz: Thanks Viz! You listening was really cool for us, I woulda done the same for hockey, but I know so little, it’s saddening. Is Jagr still playing?! Long live Brind’A’Mour! (sp?) I’m gonna send you a msg offline.

Best wishes and take care of the baby we created!

Thanks for all your work and GOOD LUCK JB.

I found your rankings 2 seasons ago and I’ve won back to back in my 2 leagues since!! 4 Titles since finding your rankings!

I gotta say I really like your writing style combined with good Rankings. All the best in your next chapter!

@Psykomerc: Thanks so much man! Damn, glad we helped you with the rankings that well! I feel like I feel worse about the misses, than feel good about the hits, so maybe I always feel shitty about how I did haha. Thanks again man, and appreciate you dropping by over those years. I’m gonna miss this a ton. Hit me up any time on twitter if you use that @jbgilpin

Can’t recall when I first listened to the podcast but one of the ones that I remember is the one when JB butchers the pronunciation of Bjelica (Beh-Jelly-Kah) and having Slim go all Frenchie on us with Monsieur Lauvergne.

    Other notables:

    -Slim’s ageism
    -Razzball mascot
    -intro of the podcast
-love fest for Rubio(Latin Lovah finally did something this year) and Wiggins (booo!)
    -Nurkic vs Jokic debate

Hat tip to the both of ya!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:

      @JG: La-Von-Yay!!!! Hahahaha.

Oh Brownie, the razzball mascot! Hah forgot him… Wish he made a final appearance… Thanks for listening over the years man, then writing this year! Meant a ton! Stay in touch!

      • Slim

        Slim says:
        (link)

@JG: @JB Gilpin: He was laying on my feet. I thought about nudging him but he was being good so I couldn’t.

I took french in high school, I kinda remember being yelled at in it. Pronunciations, even when trying to be right, is definitely not a strong suit of mine, so why try to be right? I definitely pronounce Keuchel wrong…

Every year I feel justified in my ageism. I think my favorite old guy story this year was Tyson Chandler. Not even limiting the minutes or anything, just DNP.

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

          @JG: @Slim: Awwwww Brownie!

Oh yeah McColllufkheruhuengueugfummmmmm! We realized we forgot our favorite kosher player right after we finished hahahaha.

Ehhhhhh, Chandler was usable though for a while, for a guy as a pickup or last round pick, not like you had to invest much! He made his $9 for me in REL hahahahaha

    Thanks for everything!!!
I was (un)lucky to bump into your website only this season, but really enjoyed it a ton. Apart from a couple of ESPN podcasts, yours are the only ones I regularly listened to throughout the season.
Fantastic job! Streets of Belgrade will miss the “Embiiiiiiid!” shouts and everything else.
Wish you guys a lot of luck!
Massive respect and regards from Serbia!

Yo J Beetlejuice, just got around to listening to the podcast now. Great send off. Slim does say I mean A LOT, ha. Gonna miss both of your guys humour, hope the next guys are as good. One thing I always wondered is what is your real job, and what is Slims real name? Or is it a secret, lol.

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@Shahed: Ya know, I always liked having the made up name. To me it always meant that “Slim” could have a different belief than me personally as long as it fit with previous statements and I thought was funny.

      I knew I kept doing it but I couldn’t change it, I’m a terrible multitasker…

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Shahed: @Slim: J beetlejuice! Hah i like it. Thanks for listening, glad we got to do a nice sendoff. I’m gonna miss the “I Mean”s I got so used to them I never noticed! Haha I do like a mouth/click when I am about to form my thought sometimes, I know I do that…

Guess Slim is staying a secret, I did call him by his real name once or twice on the Pod apparently though… Haha I never noticed.

I work for a tech company, doing metadata and customer support right now for “media operations”, but it used to be more media based. I started by doing NBA highlights for 2 years for Yahoo fantasy, a project our company did, but then Yahoo just moved to NBA serving those, and media stuff got phased out. More business stuff now. Super excited job, I know! Haha

Haven’t really checked the site since my season ended so I just realized you’re calling it quits! All the best JB! Going to miss your high pitched voice on the podcast 🙁

@Pong: Yeah I bet people are going to stumble on this through the offseason and be surprised haha… But yeah, twas time to move on, and going to miss it here so much. My high voice shall forever live on only to thos who talk to me in person! Haha. apparently my voice sounds higher on the pod than in person though, I think I just get excited for the Pod haha. All the best to you as well man, will miss ya!

*pause pod for 20 min to get a few drinks in, annnnnd proceed*

Dammmmmmm, no more JB and Slim!! Been a mostly sideline listener for 2 years now. I’m going to miss you guys, especially during the summer doldrums. Gonna miss the intro music, name that player, all of it, but mostly the pre-season ranking and stat projections.

Good luck in your next phase JB and g/l Slim with the golfing. I’ll keep up on Twitter, but it won’t be the same; just one of the inevitable aspects of getting older. Salud

(as an aside: To the Editor- i’m down to do a podcast a week for an hour or so..)

      @Floppy Divac: Chug! Chug!

Thanks for listening over the years man, and thanks for saying by, it sucks to be leaving! Yeah the preseason ramp ups are always great – the year has so much promise! Yup, salud indeed, people change jobs, get older, have new things to focus on… Tis life!

Hah I think they have the Podcast figured out, but can still ask the new guy!

and Cloud Atlas was dope- yall sleep! lol

Sicario womp (see what happens when you b drankin)

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Floppy Divac: It was pretty good, just not great! Sucks it came from such good source material. The added stuff was a little weird, like the Hugo Weaving guy in the top hat in Tom Hanks head… I dunno about that…

      Sicario is boss tho!

      • Floppy Divac says:
        (link)

I thought it was great, but I do have a thing for sci-fi… maybe would have felt let down if I had read the book (a common occurrence). Lots of weird stuff, but I think kinda necessary to show the weird interconnectedness of life.

-_- that’s what my bro said. idk..liked the new John Wick much better

@Floppy Divac: Oh trust me, I do too. Sci fi is one of my go tos. Gattaca is one of my fav movies. Hah I do need to see Wick 2, heard it was great
