Hey now, what is this, two days in a row of content created by Jay? And referring to myself in the third person? Oh wait, I do that part all the time. But yeah, we got some great games taking place during a really fun season (sans the complaints earlier in the year when everyone just wanted to vent about the last decade of pick and rolls?) and of course when the two best teams in the NBA match-up (twice this month!), we have to talk about it. Or write about it, actually. I don’t really want y’all calling me…

And as the AC/DC song might have spoiled, the Thunder evened up the series 1-1, led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander‘s 40 points on 17-26 shooting. He went 1-5 from 3, but also had 8 assists and 2 steals.

Though, SGA being great is kinda a given, the biggest factor may have been Donovan Mitchell just not showing up at all, netting a -28 with just 8 points on 3-15 shooting. Uncharacteristic game, obviously getting the Lu Dort and Alex Caruso experience played a part, but sometimes I do feel Mitchell’s inconsistency a bit frustrating at times. (Tyler Herro is an All-Star over him, just throwing that out there.) Regardless, the final score may have looked close, but this was done by the half and one interesting note, in the last 10 games, the Thunder have played against teams with a combined .597 winning percentage, and went 9-1 with an average margin of 16.8. Is Chet even allowed to come back to this? Filthy stat.

Talking about hot, the Kings are on an absolute tear since firing Mike Brown, and while I won’t comment on his coaching ability, mostly since I have none, I can at least confirm the manner in which he was canned was pretty soft, probably unsurprising from a tech-bro owner though.

In last night’s win against the Rockets (132-127), DeMar DeRozan did very Derozan like things going 31/5/4 on 12-23 shooting. Not for nothing, but Jalen Green managed 28 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the loss.

In some minor trade news, the Suns traded for Nick Richards for Josh Okogie (picks going both ways, who cares in fantasy) and I feel very neutral on all of this. I guess Richards has a chance to do more than Jusuf Nurkic and Plumdog, but the Suns are quite the mess this year and I’m not sure what to think. That sentiment might also be shared by the Suns front office…

In the newest episode of “As the Jimmy Turns” (look, it’s the best I could do right now), there has been chatter that the Bucks actually might be a serious destination. With the new CBA and it’s apron restrictions aside, overall that would most likely be the best case scenario for Butler’s landing spot and your fantasy team. Though the Suns still do remain intriguing.

Can I just say, it’s been aggregated that Jimmy’s upset most of all for the Heat not bringing in talent to help him, which I guess has some merit. But, I mean, all the teams he can go to are about in the same position as the Heat, right? Not to mention Herro’s amazing season so far.

We’re fast approaching the half-way point of the season, it’ll happen for most if not all teams this upcoming week, so look for some rankings and overall thoughts on the 2024-25 season thus far!
