With the season-ending injury to Bledsoe, all guards in Phoenix get a boost.  I’d look at them in the order of Booker and then Warren, based on how the minutes have played out so far.  It’s also worth mentioning that PJ Tucker has been getting big minutes of late, and although his usage rate is low, the amount of playing time may dictate a pickup.  Unfortunately, none of these options come close to replacing the production of Bledsoe, if you lost him.  The good news is, he’ll probably come at a discount again next year, although that’s little consolation…

I would also expect other players in Phoenix, like Leuer and Knight, to pick up some of the scoring slack for the rest of the year.  It looks like Markieff isn’t going to see any playing time until he’s moved, so he makes for an exceptionally risky stash.

Noteworthy Performances and Pickups:

  • Omri Casspi – SF/PF – 58% – I mentioned him a few weeks ago, when he was at 14% ownership.  Since then, he has put up tremendous value, and should not be on the wire in any league.  If he’s still out there on any of your wires, stop reading this and pick him up! PLEASE!!  His recent barrage – 9 treys against the Warriors – has made him a popular pickup the last couple days.  However, his numbers before that outing were sneaky good, as well.
  • J.J. Barea – PG/SG – 26% – Deron Williams has been out the last few, and Barea has capitalized.  JJ has led Dallas to 3 straight wins, as well as adding some eye popping numbers to the stat-sheet.  D-Will is likely back soon, but Barea may be worth a stash, given Deron’s injury history.
  • Ish Smith – PG – 54% – I’m a little late to the party here, but this just a PSA to say that he needs to be owned everywhere.  Philly doubled it’s win total with Smith at the point, and with no competition, he should put up very solid numbers.
  • John Henson – PF/C – 13% – Monroe and Jabari have been very cold lately, so it’s only natural that Henson be given a shot.  With the playing time, he’s been dominating in the blocks column.  Who knows how long it will last, but he’s a great streamer if you need blocks.
  • Paul Pierce – SF/PF – 19% – Not a great option, but if you need 3s, The Truth should be a solid source while Blake is sidelined.  Plus, the PF eligibility makes for some nice Thragnof out of the big man spot.
  • Jeff Green – SG/SF – 39% – Jeff has been shooting the ball well lately, while putting up his usual, solid, multi-cat lines.  A boring add, but solid guaranteed production.

14 team 9 cat H2H. Looking to punt FG%/TO, need help everywhere else

My parsons and Gibson for his Giannis? or am I selling too low on parsons. I’m thinking of picking up nurk or henson.

On a related note, is either nurk or henson worth picking up for pbev? I’m waiting on gobert so I need some blocks in the interim but I get the feeling that Lawson is being showcased and beverley will be starting within a few weeks

My favors for his Lillard? do you think Lillard will get back to normal or is he gonna be hobbled ROS

Thanks for the new years eve writeup!

@jdubs: With punting those, I’d do that deal and pick up Henson short term to stream blocks.

Definitely hold Beverly, it’d really surprise me if Lawson isn’t moved.

eesh, I’d probably take the Lillard side…. Plantar is nasty, but Favors has had problems with back issues in the past. Basically the lesser of two evils there.

Have an awesome new year man!

Should I drop PBev for Zeller? I’m thinking Zeller???

    • Adam

@v00dr00: Long term, I like Beverly, streaming I’d probably lean Zeller. Really depends on the stats you need though, because it’s big vs guard.

@Adam: Yeah. Figured it was a wash as far as needs go. Also, posted this over JB’s column. Thoughts?

I just lost Mini LeBron. Trying to cover ground. Should I trade away TParker for Ish? TP has been unbelievably efficient this year but Ish offers up more counting stats. Does he maintain his lofty 76er PG status(ahem)? Should I do this?

@v00dr00: Here is the current 1st place squad:

        PG Patrick Beverley, Hou PG
        SG Dwyane Wade, Mia SG
SF Paul George, Ind SF, SG, PF
        PF Jon Leuer, Pho PF
C Anthony Davis, Nor PF, C
G Trevor Ariza, Hou SF, SG
F Nicolas Batum, Cha SF, SG
PF/C Nikola Jokic, Den PF, C
UTIL DeMarcus Cousins, Sac C, PF
        UTIL Jae Crowder, Bos SF
        UTIL Bobby Portis, Chi PF
        Bench Isaiah Thomas, Bos PG
Bench Tim Duncan, SA PF, C
        Bench Tony Parker, SA PG
        Bench Jusuf Nurkic*, Den C
IR Eric Bledsoe*, Pho PG, SG

Keeping EBled still along with the obvious 3 others, but now I’m reeeeall weak at the 1 spot. I don’t even know why I own PBev. Also, just rambling at this point, but once Kendall Marshall gets back, is he going to destroy sweet Ish’s value? Pretend Crazy Eyez isn’t there as well. I have an irrational crush, so he’s not going anywhere.

@v00dr00: Ish should be better than Parker, and he’s pushing the offense at a ridiculous pace. Bledsoe should obviously be dropped.

but yeah, I’d go Ish over Parker. Was that the only question there?

          • v00dr00 says:
            (link)

@Adam: Yeah. Did a lot of rambling there haha. Also, I’m probably going to keep Bledsoe with AD, Boogie, and PG13. It’s a keeper league with 5 spots, 1 being a prospect(rookie/sophomore) spot. I have the best keepers in the league as far as combos go, so keeping Bled would just be a luxury spot.

@v00dr00: ahhh ok, that makes sense. Didn’t pick up that it was a keeper. Damn, that’s an impressive set of keepers!

would you tradeDragic and Wiggins for Isiah Thomas or Reggie Jackson? Then take someone off the wire as there are good options. Seem like a fair offer or do I need to up the ante? Thanks and happy new year!

    • Adam

      Adam says:
      (link)

@miles proudfoot: It really depends on the waiver options, but I’d probably hold unless there are some exceptional options.

What do you make of Covington in terms of minutes/production? Should I drop for someone hotter like Casspi, barea, Randle, or Crabbe?

    • Adam

@Rhirano: I’d drop for casspi without too much hesitation, unless you really need the steals.

Any interest in Zeller or Frank? And who do you prefer? Thanks!

    • Adam

      Adam says:

@Connor: Definitely like Frank, he’ll probably make a future article. I’m higher on him because of the stat diversity, and the fact that the Hornets valued him so much on draft day.

hey, i recently picked up jennings and markeiff as speculation. what do you think of them going forward? I understand markeiff is a risky stash but the guy is just so talented and I think my team i deep enough to warrant his stash. Also, what you think of Jennings? Currently, I am in 9 cat roto and my team is as follow. If any good suggestions please do let me know?

pg-damian lilard, elfrid payton, daren collison, brandon jennings
sg-sf- eric gordon, danilo gallarini, jimmy butler, giannis antetekumpo, evan fournier, robert covington, will barton
pf-c-greg monroe, nerlens noel, andrew bogut, markeiff morris, roy hibber

    • Adam

      Adam says:

@Michael Pan: I really don’t think Jennings will be worth the hold. He’ll murder your FG%. I would hold Kieff, for a bit, especially with the rumored trade to Houston in the near future.

Hey man…time to drop Wiggins yet? Not doing anything but killing my %s… and what are your thoughts on Portis?

    • Adam

      Adam says:
      (link)

@Gg: Droppable? definitely not! Unless you’re in a 4 team league or something. If you’re worried about the FG%, then it might be worth looking into trades. All young players are going to have their ups and downs with FG% though.

Love Portis, but he really needs an injury to Taj to get the minutes that he needs, unfortunately. His time is coming though. I’m willing to bet he’ll be a popular sleeper pick next season.

      • Mark says:
        (link)

@Adam: nah not just FG though…his free throw percentage is 55% this week with pretty high volume which sucks (not just this week- averaging 73% on 7-8 attempts). And I’m not sure why I’d keep him if he’s only getting me points which I’d easily be able to find on the waiver wire. Thanks! Really sucks since I spent a midround pick on him

        • Gg says:
          (link)

@Mark: my bad…forgot to use the same name but that’s me ^^

          • Adam

            Adam says:
            (link)

@Gg: It’s all good. The ft% should balance out by the end of the season. It’s just not worth giving up on a guy with that usage rate, and that much talent. If you’re frustrated, just deal him. His 20 ppg will easily net something better than waiver material.

            • Gg says:
              (link)

@Adam: alright thanks…just frustrated on the thought of players I could have had: gortat, towns… do you think the supporting stats will come through though?

              • Adam

                Adam says:
                (link)

@Gg: For Wiggins? The other stats should come around, he’s shown flashes of it. No guarantees this year, but it’s definitely in him.

  10. Mark says:

Would you trade Wes Matthews and bosh for Lowry? Im in a 10-team so there’s plenty of options on the waiver. Toronto also has a max playoff schedule whereas Miami has the worst schedule. What do you think? Thanks

    • Adam

      Adam says:
      (link)

      @Mark: I’d definitely do that!

      • Mark says:
        (link)

@Adam: OK thanks..do you mind breaking down the trade a bit for me? I feel like I’d be losing a lot in threes, points and fg% so how would this trade help me? Thanks again!

        • Adam

          Adam says:
          (link)

@Mark: In a deeper league, I wouldn’t recommend it, but you can’t really compare until you tell me who you’d pick up off the wire. You definitely lose some in those stats, but Lowry has been one of the most dominant players in the league this year, so overpaying a bit, doesn’t hurt. In a 10 teamer, I’m just assuming that there are some very viable options to stream or pickup to replace the production you lose. I’m also going to assume that before the trade, assists weren’t your strongest category, just based on PG depth this year.

          • Tom says:
            (link)

@Adam: to be honest I actually have enough assists with guards like wall, harden and Reggie. I was hoping to upgrade trade pieces and potentially trade away Lowry for a solid big such as cousins as bosh seems to be hard to trade away. In other words, am I getting the best deal in a vacuum? Notable waiver pickups in my league include: Marcus smart, Burke, Gibson, Portis, RoLo, bogut. Thanks!

            • Adam

              Adam says:
              (link)

@Tom: I’d probably just hang on to the pair then… Bosh has been performing at a very high level this year, and I doubt you’d acquire someone like Cousins for Lowry, unless you know you can.
