Man! I was loving that game! Through three contests (the inaugural one in the comments then when adopted into the piece), I didn’t get a single win! For shame… At least now with Kobe Bryant missing 6 weeks, we’ll be brimming with excitement to relaunch the game! I never ended up with Kobe anywhere, so I’m downplaying the real fantasy impact here… Kobe owners are asking should I hold or should I let go? I think he is probably a hold in almost all leagues if you can, but man, these top-end injuries are killin’ out there! Plus we have to remember it’s a fractured knee and a re-sewn up Achilles. And he wasn’t setting the world on fire anyway. Kobe is turning into Jeter from last year! Bryant is a medical marvel though, he can jump over cars going 40 MPH and come back after bone spurs a game later. So he’s worth the stash unless it’s a very shallow 10-teamer or smaller, or you’re just a triage of injuries. Here’s what else went down last night across fantasy hoops:
Kawhi Leonard – #FreeKawhi! 21/10/3/1/0 on 8-14 shooting with a three. No one else on the Spurs got more than 5 boards! Sure it only took injuries to Tim Duncan and Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili to get Kawhi his minutes! 35:04 last night bringing his season average up to a… wait for it… whopping 28:35 a game. What are you doin’ to us Popps!?
Marco Belinelli – Why you adhere to the life principle of ThrAGNOF! Was a good streaming game here with the injuries, and if you need threes with a lot of Spurs out, Belinelli is a solid stream. 28/2/1 shooting 10-16 with 4-8 from downtown.
Patty Mills – If you believe his 20 points last night is a sign of anything useful, I’ll have you buy me a few pints at Patty’s pub and explain to me why. Then maybe we’ll get into some crazy debates with the bar keeps.
Andrew Bogut – Beast mode! Wait, would it be Tasmanian Devil mode? I dunno… A sick rainbow for 8/18/2/2/3 shooting perfect 3-3 FG and 2-2 FT. It’s so pretty I could cry!
David Lee – This time I know for sure it’s a beast mode. Fact! 32/13 on 13-22 shooting. How did the Warriors lose this one?!
Klay Thompson – That’s why! I keed I keed, KT is fine, but just so overvalued! I’ve beaten this drum harder than that last guy in Slipknot that is their like 8th percussionist. Seriously, they have more people in that band than the Trans-Siberian Orchestra! And with TSO retiring, Slipknot as your new Christmas orchestra? I see possibilities! Wow, how I got to that from Thompson I have no idea, but 6-18 last night, only 1-7 from deep for 13/2/2/2/1 with 5 TOs. Near-rainbow, sure, but I bet you wish you listened to ThrAGNOF this year!
Steph Curry – He’s awesone. We love him. 30/15. Dimebag was tasty last night. Mouth watering! I’m hungry…
Kevin Durant – Makes basketball look easy. Kinda like how Miley Cyrus makes looking like a child star turned drug addict and an effed up pop star look easy. 32/9/6/3/1 shooting 13-20. Everywhere he goes, people just uncontrollably start MVP chants…
Steven Adams – I can see now why he gets players around him so mad taking swings at him! He’s always stealing their shizz! 4 thefts last night for 4/7/0/4/2 in just over 27 minutes. He looks really good out there. I would try to finagle him from Slim, but that’s like trying to pull a christmas tree out of a chipper.
Reggie Jackson – Looked really friggin’ good. 18/5/2. Did have 6 TOs though. Hard to argue the 8-12 shooting and 2-2 3s though. I’m going to end every sentence with though. Though.
Russell Westbrook – Minor ankle tweak. He looked fine though, didn’t miss any action, and handed out a dimebag for 20/10. Nothing to worry about.
Jimmy Butler – Left the game on crutches. That’s never a good thing… Suffered a high ankle sprain, I tweeted it out when it happened and it just did not look good at all. Remember when I said I thought this toe injury could nag all season? Well a bum toe can lead to more susceptibility to other leg injuries, I actually have a messed up toe I had surgery on and that leg always effs up. But then again I don’t work out and I’m not an athlete (except with words!), but at least I eat a lot of green beans! I think he’ll be out at least a game or two, we’ll see updates throughout the day.
Joakim Noah – His numbers in December look a lot like the numbers he put up last year without Derrick Rose. The offense, sadly, has to run through him with all those injuries. Another big game last night of 23/12/3/2/1 and I was pretty impressed. He’s just so ugly. And yells so much.
Tony Snell – Took 11 threes! He musta been hot! Womp womp… Only made 2… Labradoodles! 4-15 FG for a 10/8/1/1/1 game and in line for minutes again with Butler presumably out, Kirk Hinrich‘s iffy back and usually only playing the 1, and Luol Deng saying he’s targeting a Christmas return with a bad Achilles. Worth a look in the deepest of leagues.
Marquis Teague – He could not look more useless out there…
D.J. Augustin – Which is why D.J. Augustin looks like an All-Star. It’s the ol’ “ugly friend trick”. 36 minutes for 15/5 ball hitting 3 treys. He’s not going to be anything that special, but a 14-team target right now I buy.
Raymond Felton – Said he’s hoping to be back Monday. Which would be ahead of schedule. As his REL owner, I jump for joy. As a 16-team or shallower league player, you jump away like he’s hot lava.
Kendall Marshall – From here on out, we’re only talking UNC PGs. Got signed by the Lakers who don’t have any PGs. I don’t think much is gonna happen, but he’s on my radar.
Quentin Thomas – QQQQQQQQQQQ!!!!! Fine, only Chapel Hill fans get who this is. I had to Google him for fun. Apparently he’s a rapper now? Search GQ in iTunes and it’s him! Haha, had no idea… Dude the second song “Around the World” he drops a Brandon Knight in the song in the preview! Haha this just made my night!
Xavier Henry – Wheels!!!! Gonna start at PG for the Lakers?! Wiggity what what what?!? The Lakers and Bulls might have the most banged up teams in history. Phil Jackson musta left some bad germs around.
Ersan Ilyasova – Getting shut down. Yeah, he’s been awful. More time for everyone! Including Giannis Antetokounmpo! The Alphabet is gonna have some time starting in the soup. Heard.
Next Game: I’ve got HOU at IND tonight. Go Paul George! Elite! And update on my schedule through the Holidays, we’ll have my post up Monday (23rd) and Friday (27th) next week, and then taking over daily again starting Thursday the 2nd of January. From there it’s fantasy goodness every weekday in 2014! I hope everyone has a great weekend and see you Monday!
