DeMar DeRozan does it again as he hits yet another game-winner to steal the victory for the Chicago Bulls over the Washington Wizards, 120-119. With this game winner, DeRozan became the first player in NBA history to make back-to-back game winners in back-to-back days.
This was a game that the Wizards led for 90% of the time, but Chicago clawed to within two points on multiple occasions in the final minutes of the game.
Zach LaVine finished with a game-high 35 points and knocked down 7-of-12 threes. Nikola Vucevic had a solid night with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Then there’s Coby White who stepped up big time in the absence of Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso as he finished with 20 points of his own with four big threes.
This win makes seven straight wins for Chicago and propels them to the top spot in the Eastern Conference with a record of 24-10.

Talk about having the win snatched away from you. Before DeRozan came up big in the final 3.3, Kyle Kuzma knocked down a big three with four seconds left in the game to go up by two. This big three was only one part of an outstanding game for Kuzma who finished the with a team-high 29 points and 12 rebounds on 12-of-18 shooting from the floor.
Also with Spencer Dinwiddie, Raul Neto, and Aaron Holiday all out, Bradley Beal made his first ever start at point guard and showed out. Beal finished the game with 27 points and a career-high 17 assists, none bigger than that led to the late Kuzma three.
Another big player for Washington was Daniel Gafford who was an absolute problem on the boards. Gafford finished with 19 points and eight rebounds in 20 minutes as he just seemed to also score a big bucket when the Wizards were struggling to hit shot from the perimeter.
As someone who was at the game, I just have to say that this was easily one of the most electric games of the season and easily one of the best ways to kick off 2022 in the NBA.

Giannis Antetokounmpo posts a monster triple-double to give us our only blowout of the night as the Milwaukee Bucks took down the New Orleans Pelicans, 136-113. Antetokounmpo was the story in this one for the Bucks, but Jrue Holiday came up big with 21 points in this one. Jordan Nwora also had a big night as he was red hot off the bench with 24 points on 9-of-11 shooting in only 18 minutes on the floor. Rounding things out, Bobby Portis and Grayson Allen combined for 30 points. Not much to say, just the Bucks taking down inferior teams in a hurry as usual.

Even with being blown out by 23, the Pelicans managed to finish with seven players in double figures. Rookie Herb Jones, Devonte’ Graham, Garrett Temple, and Josh Hart each finished with 14 apiece. Hart may have played the best of the group as he nearly notched a triple-double as he also had 11 rebounds and nine assists.
With no Jonas Valanciunas, it was center by committee as Willy Hernangomez got the start and contributed 11 points and eight rebounds, while Jaxson Hayes exploded off the bench for 23 points.
Pelicans’ fans may not be happy with the overall product on the court, but the recent play of Jones and Jaxson is worth praising.

Saddiq Bey hits a late 3-pointer in overtime to push the Detroit Pistons past the San Antonio Spurs, 117-116. Bey finished the game with 21 points, but none were bigger than the last three that helped seal the win for Detroit with 1.9 seconds left in the game. He also finished with a game-high 17 rebounds.
Hamidou Diallo led the way, playing a game-high 49 minutes in this game while scoring 34 points and also chipped in 14 rebounds. Rounding out the scoring output for the Pistons, the starters carried this game. Luka Garza finished with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Cassius Stanley finished with 19 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field and Derrick Walton added 11 points, six rebounds, and six assists.
Not your typical starting lineup that gets wins, but Detroit will take what they can get especially when they were coming off of losing four straight.

Without head coach Tyronn Lue or Paul George, the LA Clippers went on the road and took down the Brooklyn Nets, 120-116. This was spearheaded by Eric Bledsoe who dropped a season-high 27 points and showed out on the defensive end as well. Terance Mann and Reggie Jackson also came in and added 19 points and knocked down three threes apiece.
Considering the Clippers were in this one without Marcus Morris, Luke Kennard and Ivac Zubac as well, it was a miracle that this LA team could hang with the Nets offensively. But they got the job done.

When you check the stat sheet, the Brooklyn Nets pretty much did everything except win the game. 30-point triple-double from James Harden. 28 points and nine rebounds from Kevin Durant. 27 points between LaMarcus Aldridge and Patty Mills. Even Nicolas Claxton got in the mix with 13 points and ten rebounds.
All their main guys did their thing. Only way to put it is that the Nets couldn’t close things in the end and that lost them the game.

Nikola Jokic and Facundo Campazzo both post double-double as the Denver Nuggets take down the Houston Rockets 124-111. Jokic finished the game with a team-high 24 points along with 11 rebounds in only 25 minutes on the floor. But the star of the show for the Nuggets was Campazzo, who dominated at the guard spot on both sides as he finished with a monster stat line with 22 points, 12 dimes, five steals, and two blocks. Talk about being an absolute menace on the court. Aaron Gordon added 16 points and seven rebounds as well. Lastly, we got to see some interesting flashes from Denver off the bench as Bol Bol and Vlatko Cancar each finished with 11 points apiece.

With no Christian Wood in this one, rookie guard Jalen Green asserted himself as the primary scoring option and did damage. The rookie finished with a game-high 29 points and lived at the free throw line as he went 12-of-14 which led all players as well. Alongside him, the only one who really provided any real help was KJ Martin who came off the bench and scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. Now we should also give Trevelin Queen and Daishen Nix their flowers as they stepped up off the bench as well and combined for 23 points.

The Golden State Warriors pull off yet another big-time holiday victory as the they defeated the Utah Jazz, 123-116. Stephen Curry did normal Stephen Curry things as he finished with a game-high 28 points and Andrew Wiggins chipped in with 25 points. But the real difference makers in this one was Otto Porter Jr. and Andre Iguodala. Porter Jr. played third-banana on offense for the Warriors as he finished with 20 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists. Iguodala came up clutch on both ends of the floor in the closing moments of the game to help seal the game as he finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and eight assists.

In the loss, the Utah Jazz finished with four players scoring exactly 20 points on the dot. Rudy Gobert led the charge with a massive double-double as he nearly had a 20 and 20 game. Donovan Mitchell struggled from the floor (4-of-19) but dominated at the free throw line, going 10-of-11 from the charity strike. Bojan Bogdanovic and Jordan Clarkson each dropped 20 on 14 shots and four made threes a piece.
