After a pretty quiet first week, we’re all the sudden getting ravaged by injuries and late DNP scratches.  LET STEROIDS BE ALLOWED AGAIN DAMMIT!  No one wants to see Austin Rivers start an NBA game…  And then to top it off, the Clippers started a backcourt with daddy’s boy Austin alongside Pablo Prigioni…  Who is certainly old enough to be Rivers’ daddy too…

But before that travesty in Phoenix, the Wolves decided to scratch Ricky Rubio after calling him probable.  To be fair, it was probable they were going to get bludgeoned by the Warriors, then again they played Golden State pretty close…  Mitchell probably thought this was a loss anyway, but who knows if Rubio would’ve made a difference over the Zach LaVine start and the out-of-nowhere minutes for Andre Miller.  Then to just make assists even more a lost cause for fantasy owners, Chris Paul was suddenly questionable then ruled out with his groin strain.  Maybe his groin injury is some sort of cosmic karma for punching Julius Hodge in the nuts when at Wake Forest…  Isn’t cosmic karma an ice cream flavor…?  Whatever, anything to keep me from saying groin again!  There isn’t much of a fantasy spin on these frustrating-as-hell DNPs, other than Rubio indeed looked like a massive sell-high after that opener and CP-3 needs to re-nicknamed CP-DNP.  Both will be managed and it will hurt their overall value, so if you can sell for per-start stats, I would.  And just like the trend we’re seeing in all the other major sports, players will be managed through minor bumps and bruises, especially injury-prone and older players.  LET STEROIDS BE ALLOWED AGAIN DAMMIT!  Here’s what else went down last night in fantasy basketball action:

Gordon Hayward Even though he only made a third of his shots from the field, we got a nice bounce back from his lowered FT rate so far this year (10-12 last night) in a solid 24/11/3 night.  Although he didn’t quite give me a hard part without any 3s, STL or BLK…

Rudy Gobert Monsieur Elbow sat with a kankle.  The Stifle Tower needs some renovating.  It’s The Leaning Tower of Gobiza.

Trey Lyles Got the start, and Slim texted me “over/under 20 minutes?”  I took the under.  Can that finally score me a point on the 30-Point Challenge board?!  17:39 of yawwwwwwwwwwwwwwn.

Derrick Favors He’s just ridiculous… Had to completely man the post to guard Whiteside, and was one of only two Jazz players to shoot over 50%.  10-18 FG (5-7 FT) 25/12/2/3/7.  Gobert transferred some of his shot-blocking fairy dust to Favors’ limbs to make Favors an ultimate Frankenstein of fantasy big man goodness.

Alec Burks Woooooo!  Sometimes it’s good being #1…  And, ummmm, sometimes it’s not…  But here it’s looking solid, with Burks making some crazy difficult layups and joining Favors as the only other Jazz player shooting over 50%.  9-16 FG (3-3 3PTM 3-4 FT) 24/3/2/1/0, given his final trey was at the buzzer in a 4-pt game.  Sure after that 8-dimer a few back the AST haven’t been huge, but they’re improved the last three and he’s got 7 treys the past 2 games after only 3 in the first 6.  21+ points in 3 of 5 as well.  It’s all comin’ together!

Trevor Booker – Somehow fouled out, even though he jumped over Chris Bosh’s back knocking him over and somehow avoided an over-the-back call…  I’m just struggling to say anything else interesting about the Jazz…

Tyler Johnson I certainly had something interesting going on in my Johnson during this game!  We talked about streaming him for last night’s game on the Pod, and he delivered for me in all my RCLs (plus my REL squad) for 17/4/3/1/2 hitting 8-12 from the field and making his only trey.  He’s an energy guy that just keeps seeming to deliver, but Dwyane Wade was a last minute DNP (personal) and Gerald Green is still either recovering from a bender or suspended or whatever the hell is going on there, so there was a big void Johnson could fill…  And I expect him to fill it well when give the chance…

Josh Richardson Technically got the start at the 3, and while he hit three shots early, faded into oblivion.  Starring Tom Cruise.

Chris Bosh – Just looks awesome – great to see after the health scare last year.  Boshasaurus for 25/8/4/0/4 with a trey on 9-18 shooting.

Hassan Whiteside Got hammered in the post with a lot of Favors traffic, then it seemed like he was hammered at the FT line with an annoying 1-4.  Looked like he mighta had this sorted out before 4-10 the past two games!  Even though he didn’t have his normal FG% explosion, 9/14/0/1/5 is just fine.

Goran Dragic A lot of frustrated dragon owners.  Everyone really wishing the Heat knew how to train their Dragon…  Even with no Wade siphoning off all that usage, 14/3/4/2/0 with no 3s and 4 TO, shooting 5-12.  It still just HAS to get better, but man it’s tough right now with Tyler Johnson outshining him…

Zach LaVine Poor Rubio getting clowned by the TNT guys at half for not playing…  I bet it wasn’t Rubio’s decision, lay off Shaq!  LaVine gets the start, and cuts down on both the TO but also the AST (8:8 AST:TO to 1:2 last night, ummmmm, awesome…).  13/2/1/1/0, but at least chipped in a nice 7-8 FT.  I am guessing Rubio plays tonight after going in last night probable, but with the Wolves, you just never know right now…

Gorgui Dieng Looks goood!  …when he plays…  Was part of a nice spark towards the end of the 3rd/early 4th for the Wolves, but still only got 18 minutes for 11/4/0/1/1.  Choo choo!  The Dieng Train is steaming off into the sunset…

Karl-Anthony Towns 5 TO and no blocks in a tough matchup.  Did still dubdub shooting 7-15, so despite the bad game, always manages to land on all fours…  Like a KAT!

Shabazz Muhammad 16 Pts off the bench without much else.  If you’re going to actively punt games this early with a decent record, even if it is against a possibly historic Warriors team, go ahead and Chapter 11 K-Mart already!  No Kevin Martin would make Shabazz close to a must-own in 12ers…

Nemanja Bjelica Started pretty slow, but still had a usable 8/9/3/1/0 line with no TO and a trey.  Did hurt you with the shockingly odd 1-4 FT, as his FT% woes press on through this early-going to his NBA career.  Fluky.

Andrew Wiggins Calmed down a little, but 19/2/5 with only 1 TO and shooting 7-17 with another trey is a decent enough outing.  Hopefully this is still towards the lower end moving forward.

Draymond Green Wooooooooooooo, #OccupyDraymondGreen baby!  I can’t believe that we had to YET AGAIN lead the bandwagon for the DrayDray occupation.  Of course we were bested by just one spot by one ranker this year after having him 10 spots higher than the field last year, but again, more-or-less leading the torch.  Shun the nonbelievers!  Or um, ya know, block them I guess…  Ya know, to continue the hashtag/Twitter thing…?  No…? Anywho, 23/8/12/2/2 on 8-10 FG (2-3 3PTM 5-5 FT) in one of the more monstrous lines this season.  Why anyone was thinking 2014-15 was a fluke is beyond me…

Festus Ezeli – Continuing to start over Andrew Bogut, and while hit a nice 5-6 from the field, no blocks and didn’t make it another Festivus…  Back-to-back games with 0 blocks and 4 fouls.  “Hey ref, no blood no foul!”

Klay Thompson Even with the 9 attempts from deep last night (made 3), overall 3PTA volume remains lower than last year, as does the percent.  Both are climbing, so there’s still a buy-low opportunity.

Stephen Curry O-VER-RATE-ED!  boom boom boomboomboom  O-VER-RATE-ED!

Markieff Morris Left after only 6 minutes with a “mild” left knee strain.  Not to do any panic reporting, BUT WILSON CHANDLER HAD A MILD HIP STRAIN!  And we all know how that went…  Kieff should be fine, and remains in the basement of value.  Buy him low!  Crazy to think that brother Marcus might be able to get you Kieff…  Although I honestly don’t know if I’d do it!  I might hold Marcus Morris!  Jon Leuer had a low-end dubdub, but he’s only worth a look as a spot-streamer in deeper in the non-Kieff games, if there are any.

T.J. Warren Tied a career-high with 18 Pts, and surprisingly chipped in a steal and a block.  Through the first 7 games, had 3 steals and 0 blocks, with 3 3PTM.  Why you don’t want Warren.  He’s Enes Kanter without the rebounds…

Brandon Knight Mmmmmmm, just needed some Austin Rivers in his life!  Tied a career-best with 37 Pts on 14-22 FG (6-10 3PTM 3-4 FT) 37/2/4 with only 1 TO.  This time it was…

Eric Bledsoe …acting as the TO vortex!  Nearly quaddubbed!  26/10/6/2/0, but with that 8 TO in there, it’s a cloudy line.  Not a shock that this was by far the best backcourt game for the Suns going against that horrific lineup the Clips threw out there…

J.J. Redick A lot of the Clips ineptitude last night was Redick not playing due to back spasms, I believe caused by his flared up bacne.

DeAndre Jordan 5-13 FT in an awful game for Dre owners.  FT punt without the nice other stats!  He did bang his shoulder a little bit, but the Cilps think he’ll be fine.  Although 5-13 is 38.5%, so it actually raised his FT% to 35.0% on the year.  Maybe the training staff should intentionally bang up the other shoulder too!

I hope everyone is enjoying a winning week 3, and we’ll catch you on Monday to preview week 4.  Have a great weekend, Razzball Nation!

    hahahahah

I don’t really have a question, just came here to brag. I own Favors, Knight, Bledose (screw the turnovers, I still lead in that cat) and Dray. What a fun night, they just won me this weeks matchup in one single night. 3-0 to start the season, looking good so far.

Just wondering….. Who got the better end…..

    Lillard, Reggie Jackson, Markieff
    or
    CP3, Skinny Lowry, Trevor Ariza

      JB Gilpin says:

@Soup king: Even though he’s CP-DNP, I think he’s right there with Lillard and I like Lowry and Ariza over Rjax Kieff, I like CP3 side

  5. Larry says:

    Hi JB,

    9-cat H2H 16 teams, 10 players.

CP3, Bledsoe, Bazemore, Gallinari, Draymond, TJones, AGordon, Powell, T Chandler, and 1 streamer – really bad this week with the bad game from CP3 (who’s also DNP and possibly for the rest of the week) and a few other players.

How would you rank or pick two from the following ROS: Deron Williams, Darren Collison, Tyreke, D’Angelo Russell, Barton, Schroder, Tyler Johnson, Jerian Grant
Will try to get Williams or Collison + Tyreke in a few weeks, who would be better? Can drop Powell/AG + the streamer spot

Is Aaron Gordon/Powell worth dropping for any of the following – Covington, McDermott, O’Quinn, Ezeli, or any of the guards mentioned above? Thanks a lot

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Larry: Yeah with CP3 hurt, I def think those top 2 PG are your top two pickups right now. Lovvvvvvvvvve Powell in real life/dynasty, but I dunno if he does enough for ya over DWill Colly. And mannnn, I think I gotta hop off the Gordon train in redraft, I’d prob get both PG then see if eithe rget hot and trade one

      • Larry says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Thanks. How ’bout dropping Bazemore for Covington? Is Covington and upgrade over Bazemore?
Would you consider Noah for Powell?

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Larry: yup I prob would, tough dropping a hot Baze though! Although it is cooling off… And yeah, I would prob take Noah

            (link)

@JB Gilpin: Wasn’t able to get Covington off waivers. Is D Will the better choice over Colly?

If Payton is on the wire is he a must add regardless of how your team is built? Only person I feel like I could drop is Collision and that feels wrong. I tried to do a two for one trade to open up a stop but no one what interested. 10 team league so there’s till some talent on the wire.

Hey JB, great ramblings as always! Not having any problems with assists due to your help with snagging Harden 4, PG13 17, #occupy 24, and bledsoe 37!

with Oladipo going down with blunt force trauma, and aGord getting the 2nd half start, is he a hold for this weekend? I have tJones on the IR at the moment, and dont see anyone else to drop… aside from maybe clarkson? just want to stream 🙁

PG: Bledsoe, IT3, Payton, J. Clarkson
    SG: Harden, Bazemore
    SF: PG13, Gallinari
PF: #Occupy, Favors, a. Gordon, T. Jones (IR)
    C: Hibbert, Sullinger

    cheers buddy!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:

@Wutang: thanks for reading man! Nahhhhh don’t drop Clarkson! Bazemore is def closer to drop. But Gordon would be the one once Jones is for sure playin a few more mins. Cheers!

  8. Fella says:

Someone is trying to pry Draymond from me. I have Conley as my only other reliable assist guy. I have AD, Klay, and Duncan as my core. Is it a good deal to offer Draymond for Gortat and Dwight?

@Fella: No!!!!!!! Def hold Dray, so much better than that haul

Hey, thanks for the post! Ryan Anderson just hit the waiver wire. Out of 100 FAAB bucks, thinking of putting in 21 for him? Not sure how often as strong a player as him hits the wire. Would you drop Plumlee, Gordon, or Sullinger? Thanks!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@miles proudfoot: Thanks for stopping by, as always! How big is the league? $21 for a 12er sounds about right, if 10er I might scale it back, prob losing Plum

      • miles proudfoot says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: right on, good call. Jabari Parker also just hit the waiver wire drop any of the other two for him? Now no way to know this and not holding you to anything, but great wise oracle JB, ariund when do you think Jabar is back to his pre-injury self which was getting pretty good last year?

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@miles proudfoot: Ummmm nah I’d prob let Jabari ride on the wire, someone will prob pay something. I bet it takes until Feb-March if at all if he gets back to those last few good games he was having last yr

Hi Sensei JB, I want your recomendation: trade my wiggins for KAT or Ibaka? (Thinking im needing BLK/REBS with the good ft%)

    Pg- Bledsoe, Shelfrid, George hill
Sg- Harden, Jimmy butler, Danny green
    Sf- Batum, Wiggins
    Pf- Millsap, #Occupy
    C- Gortat, Noel, streamer spot

    • JB Gilpin

It’s time for that come to hey-seuss talk about Tyson Chandler. He looks done. I missed the boat on adding Hibbert and his blocks, so where do I turn to next to replace Chandler if he doesn’t show any sign of life this weekend? I was looking at T.Jones, Aminu, Bjelica but perhaps leaning more towards either Crowder or Marcus Morris. What do you think?

10-team h2h league. My team is Wall, Teague, Mo. Williams, Middleton, Batum, Durant, Zingis, Bosh, Gobert, Vala, T.Chandler,

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Joe: Haha, well yeah if Tjones is avail, def going there! Crowder is nice for STL, but I dunno if you really need those…

  12. dom says:
    (link)

burned my waiver claim on Wes Matthews in my 10 team. Hopefully is top 100 rest of the way including his missed games as I could prob get top 100 production from an open roster spot. Jae Crowder is in my only remaining streaming spot and I think I’ll hold for now, I’ve seen some projections that love him. You like rowdy crowdy?

other razz writers are pretty down on Dieng and said he’s droppable in my deep 12 (17 roster size). my matchup has more guys playing tomorrow than I do and I would pick up Felton as he’s best available for the stats I’m chasing this week. But I may hold Dieng because I think he’s very good at basketball and hope it translates into fantasy value..?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@dom: Yeah, I mean we knew these Mavs guys would be a little rocky. Yeah def gotta hold Crowder, leading the lead by a ton in STL! I agree Dieng it droppable… No way they trade him, and he’s locked behind KAT for pure backup C minutes. Only way it happens is (gulp, knock on wood) KAT gets hurt

    Monta
    Wall
    Gay
    Kawhi
    Bazemore
    Sullinger

I was cracking up at this blog post. Still am. I’ve had my fair share of INJ, DNP and OUTs this last few days that I’ve replaced my team name to DNP Primadonnas but from the vantage pt of a punt assts team, I welcome this in my own selfish way.

    Hilarious post!

    • JG

      kw says:
      (link)

@kw: sidenote: Lineup stacked tonight. In a very tight FG race (I have a small usage due to no KD and 1 DNP for Wiggins earlier in the week). Have a choice at of either Nerlens (vs Ibaka) or Capela (assuming Dwight gets a DNP). Capela over Nerlens right? I’m fairly safe in the Blks dept.

Considering also DNPing Smart and A. Bradley vs Hawks tonight. Got a feeling low FGs for both and high TOs for Smart.

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@kw: Haha thanks man! Well your punt AST team might win!

Yeah I think you go Capela, not like he’s gonna try and crazy shots. Yup, def could see that, Hawks not playing great this past week losing to MIN and barely beating the Pelicans. They should be fired up

@JB Gilpin: I’m basically tied in 5 cats. (Points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks). Don’t need 3s. I’m down by 20. And I’m down a lot in ft too.

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:

@Mark: I dunno if Hickson can be relied to hit the REB/BLK, I like going Napier

  17. Tony C says:
    (link)

I’m not quite sure why but Wes Matthews was dropped in my league yesterday…10 team, H2H, 9-cat…but I don’t know if he fits onto my team either:

    PG- Teague, (Tragic)Dragic, Rubio
    SG- Butler, Monta, Collison
    SF- Draymond, Heyward, Bazemore
    PF- Durant, T.Jones, Bjelica
    C- R.Anderson, Sullinger, Nurkic (IL)

As you can see my team is dreadfully underperforming and/or injured right now. I guess I could see dropping Collie, Bazemore or Bjelica for Matthews. Bazemore might make the most sense based on the makeup of my roster since he and Matthews contribute in similar ways. But damn Baze has been soooo good!

Thanks for your help and great article!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Tony C: I could see why some owners would be frustrated, but they shoulda known it would be a slow start. Yeah Baze has been unreal, I think Bjelica is your cut, I know he’s playing pretty well, but he’s still fringy for me. Thanks for reading!

  18. Slimcompoop says:
    (link)

What’s good JB? Long time no talk, but I’ve been following in the shadows.

Myles Turner thumb surgery…sigh. I guess it’s not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things, but in a 10-team keeper league (8-of-15), I’m thinking it might be time to bail. Not that I couldn’t wait for Turner to get back towards the end of December, but with already rostering two other rookies (i.e., Willie Cauley-Stein and Nemanja Bjelica), and having to maintain at least one, per league rules, I think it’s time to cut bait. Your thoughts?

Never gave you my official roster after the draft, following asking you about keepers all off-season. Here’s what I ended up with and currently in a 4-way tie for 1st place at 4-2, although will lose tonight:

    Kemba Walker
    Victor Oladipo (concussion)
    Reggie Jackson
    Rajon Rondo
    Kawhi Leonard
    Trevor Ariza
    Rodney Hood
    Robert Covington (knee)
    Draymond Green
    Nemanja Bjelica
    Andre Drummond
    DeAndre Jordan
    Derrick Favors
    Myles Turner (thumb)
    Wille Cauley-Stein

Didn’t like having to drop DeRozan and Batum pre-draft, but liked picking up Hood and Covington long-term. Rondo’s been blingin’ as of late, but we’ll see. You’re general thoughts/improvements, as always, is greatly appreciated.

Keep it real JB and thanks for your help.

@Slimcompoop: What’s good man?! Good to see ya! Yeahhhh, I dunno if he makes a top-8 keeper even though I’ll likely rank him high next yr.

FT punt is alive and well, still looks like TO are mad high, remind me of your settings again though bc didn’t you have a funky scoring settings? Haha sorry can’t remember 🙂

      • Slimcompoop says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Yeah, it’s a funky scoring system. Essentially you take points, rebounds, assists, blocks, and steals on a given night and score the best three categories. For instance, if Kawhi goes for 25pts, 7rbs, 4 assists, 2 blocks, and 5 steals; you add the pts, rbs, and stl’s for a total of 37. It’s archaic, but that’s what it is.

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Slimcompoop: Ahhhhh that’s right! So yeah, D stats aren’t too interesting, def want the popcorn stats. Turner as a good %s blk guy isn’t great for the format. Love Kawhi, but I bet someone would overpay since he’s not helped by the format either

But they’re always blah or decent and never bad… It’s marginal, but FT volume and AST are trending down and he’s scoring more right now on a lower FG%, seems like he’s about the same guy as last year with a little nice start going on

    Hi JB!

I just made some changes in my 14 team league squad. I dropped Myles Turner for Ish Smith since I was tired of not getting anything from him plus the injury. I also dropped Henson, as he never barely plays, and added Gary Harris who I thoguht could see a boost in his minutes due to season-ending injury from Wilson Chandler. I am aware that both players have quite some potential and that Ish wont last much playing like this so I wanted some advice.

Another possible pickups are: Jeff Green, Gerald Green, David Lee, Cory Joseph, Tyler Johnson, Festus Ezeli, Gerald Henderson, Bayless, Hickson, Adams, TJ Warren, Caulie-Stein.

The rest of the team is: Lillard, Schröder, Mudiay ,Bledsoe, Stauskas, Joe Johnson, Danny Green, TJones, Aaron Gordon, Ibaka, Bosh and Nurkic.

    Thanks a lot!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Lawson: Yup, yeah Myles had to go. I’m not huge on Harris, I think you hold Ish for now then stream that Harris spot as best you can, a lot in the same range there on the wire. Any time!

      • Lawson says:
        (link)

        @JB Gilpin:
Getting a bit impatient and I grabbed Bayless who seems to be doing good, also with MCW back… I dont expect something amazing out of him but lets see.

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Lawson: Yeah minutes helped by 2OT the other night, I think you’ll eventually move on from Bayless too for a streamer

          • Lawson says:
            (link)

@JB Gilpin: I missed on so-far hot pickups like Powell, Bjelica, Fournier, Barton, Tyreke, Pachulia and I really need to hit some winner soon.

            • JB Gilpin

              JB Gilpin says:

@Lawson: Other than Fournier, I’m not losing too much sleep over those others

  23. James says:
    (link)

Should i trade will Barton for Kevin Martin ? I understand Kmart is a second half trade candidate as wiggy is now finding His groove. Is it Gary Harris or Barton benefitting from chandler absence. On paper Kmart is the clear favorite right. Am I over thinking it?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@James: Def not over thinking it, but yeah I would take Kmart. Not huge upside, but I dunno if Barton ever gets that huge minute starting role I woulda oped, another game off the bench tonight

      • James says:
        (link)

        @JB Gilpin:
JB!!!!!What are You doing to me mAn!!! Lol, At least send some positive vibes or voodo Magic out there to the other owners of my league to veto that trade!

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@James: Haha, well I’ve always been a Barton fan, but still came off the bench for Harris and was off 23 and 17 min games. If he was starting the whole time, I woulda been all in

  24. MAC says:
    (link)

RAZZUP?!!! i know its early, but what are the davis owners thinking right now that picked him at 1 over curry? thinking of the big upside and ignoring the injury risk. well, it seems like curry has a the same upside or even higher and davis is dinged up already. only concern right now is gsw winning too much and would rest starters late in the season.

yup, pretty big thursday for me as well. got pick 1 in both leagues, and got curry in both. curry and draymond in one league, then curry and knight in the other.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@MAC: Razzup man?! Well, as one that ranked it that way, I’m still thinking it’s a long season and the Curry fear of late DNPs still worry me, even if it looks like right now they will try to chase history. Also no way to know the Pels would look THIS atrocious, obviously now Davis is a distant #3. Wooo nice Thursday!

      • MAC says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: its still early, but after 3 weeks, its not good though for davis owners. yup, with gsw this dominant, dnps late is a worry, though davis owners should as well. pels right now are a mess, and if it get far behind early this might be a lost season as well and davis shutdown is not out of the equation.

well, our draft is so damn early september definitely no way ur gonna know. hehe.

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@MAC: Oh of course not. I think it gets better, but it’s not good. Shutdown looks almost certain. If NBA was easily predictable, fantasy wouldn’t be any fun!

  25. Dante Green says:
    (link)

Favors’ D-stats is fcukin amazing. I don’t know why it felt wrong to me when I drafted him but now I know it was the correct decision. Hah Bjelica had a “meh” game (only had a trey) but you know, the minutes are there! I think I’m holding for another week…

I hope Dipo returns asap. I’ll be going up against the best team in our league next week (the dude’s got Curry) and I’m hoping to be the one to taint his unblemished record! But damn I just couldn’t catch a break, Smart and TJones return but then Dipo, Gobert and Lillard all get hurt.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Dante Green: Man, it wasn’t like fluky stuff, he was just a force at the eye level too. Yeah not huge and while minutes are OK I dunno if upside will ever be there…. Hah well at least lillard is OK and look at how good Tjones looks!

      • Dante Green says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Hah! Yea, TJones was great! And Gordon too! If THarris goes down, mannn, Aaron will be unleashed!

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Dante Green: Exactly man! Patience on those two are paying off!

      • Dante Green says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: yass, still hoping Gordon plays at least 25 mpg I think I’ll be fine with that!

Just a question tho: is Smart really worth a roster spot? Lol. I know Smart has just returned from injury but IT is just ballin right now… You know we’ve been on a lookout for Nurkic, one update that he’s already practicing or a return date has been set he’ll be an automatic stash. I’m also stashing JParker (I don’t know why I’m doing it lol) but yea, if I have to drop a player from my team, it’s gotta be Smart.

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Dante Green: Yessir! Yeah I think Smart is still a hold, the two can play together and Bradley still a little banged up. But yeah Smart is lookin like a last roster guy, but where I have him in 12ers I’m holding

  26. Afro says:

My Rainbolo-Dipo and A.Burks for his G.Hayward and B.Beal?? I don’t think he would bite… But he keeps offering me low end trades for Rainbow!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Afro: Yup I like that deal! Hah yeah if he keeps offering, go for the big one with that one!

  27. Ryan says:
    (link)

Can everyone get healthy and start playing like you sposed to be?

Covington, Evans, Vucevic, Gay, Dragic, Elfrid, Jrue. Yup I got it rough. My 120 win 9-cat team from last season is now down 7-2 in this week’s MU. It’s against a crappy team though, and most of the losses are prettty close, so maybe there is hope yet. Def need another ridiculous game from Russ though, hopefully he’ll make it happen with no KD.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:

@Ryan: Hah yeah been a rough week! Tripdub got delivered for ya man!

    Is this trade worth it:
I get Anthony Davis, Marcin Gortat and Chandler Parsons for Eric Bledsoe, Rudy Gobert, Nikola Mirotic and Darren Collison

I’m wondering is Parson is worth an investment in the long run and if he would be any useful when the fantasy playoffs start?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Devansh Malik: I’m pretty friggin worried about Brow, the Pels look SOOOOO bad that he is gonna be babied all yr. I think you’re giving up a tad too much with parsons a question mark too

  30. Fella says:
    (link)

It’s time to cut bait on Kevin Martin right? Covington, Marvin Williams, StanJo, John Henson, Jeremy Lamb and co are all available FA’s…

      @Fella: AND Schroder…

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:

@Fella: With those options, yeah I think so, prob nabbing Covington.

  31. Can't stop won't stop trading says:
    (link)

Man I’m a trade addict would you deal Bledsoe for pau and Harrison Barnes? The need is rebounds and blocks and I have guards galore wall Schroeder kemba Lavine burks cojo let me know JB thanks!!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Can’t stop won’t stop trading: Hahaha, well let’s try to get you through a 12 step program! Ummmm, I love Bledsoe and you pull in a lot of risk with Pau, I might try a better throw in than Barnes

  32. nont nontiskul says:
    (link)

Hi JB would you take Vucevic or Bosh in 9 cat ROTO ?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@nont nontiskul: Ohhhhhh roto… I mighta said Vuc somewhere above, but that’s assuming H2H, roto, I might go more safety and nice %s of Bosh

  33. hanns says:
    (link)

I dropped Jusuf Nurkic for will barton in my 12 team, 9 CAT, h2h league. did i make a mistake? I don’t really need either that much but nurkic was rated higher and I’m not quite convinced barton will keep it up.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@hanns: Nurk hasn’t had many updates, I think it’s a solid move. If you don’t need Nurk to man some front court minutes really bad, Barton was a fine add and maybe if he plays 3 hot weeks you can sell high

  34. Patrick Patterson is awesome says:
    (link)

    Hey JB/Slim

I feel like my team is ripe for a trade and need some advice. Here is my team (12 team, 9-cat)

    Damian Lillard – PG
    Elfrid Payton – PG
    Rajon Rondo – PG
    Deron Williams – PG
    KCP – SG
    Andre Iguodala – SG, SF
    Robert Covington – SG, SF
    Andrew Wiggins – SG, SF
    Danilo Gallinari – SF
Terrance Jones – SF, PF (nice to have him back!)
    Aaron Gordon – SF, PF
    Serge Ibaka – PF, C
    Chris Bosh – PF, C

I picked up Rondo off the wire after someone dropped him after game 1 (yay!) so was nice to get his crazy stats last couple of weeks (man he sucks tho… but putting up numbers!). I really like my point guard mix, but sucks that none are SG eligible. Should I try and sell super high on Rondo now?

Anyhoo, with Lillard scorching it from downtown and the fact that every single player is a 3 pt shooter (lol), I definitely feel I need to move a wing for a Centre and get some more boards. Any advice who should I try and move and which C I should target? Thinking maybe selling high on Gallo but not sure….

There is a team with Gobert, Drummond AND Deandre that is also short on PGs. Any way I could package some players to get Gobert? (Don’t won’t Deandre or Drummo for FT%)

Also a team with Porzingis, Valancuinas, Horford, Kanter and Jefferson that could use my wings.

    I suck at trades.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Patrick Patterson is awesome: Hah nice! Funny that he is such a bum but putting the #s up, helps he’s playing a bajillion mins. Yup def sell Rondo now! Collison back will push min.

I’m super high on Gallo, KCP I’d hold, Deron might be my sell even though he won’t get much. If Deron plus Rondo got Gobert, it’d be sick! Deron for Jefferson straight up? Al Jeff off a bad game…

  35. Jerry says:
    (link)

Hey, JB! Can you rank Ariza, Danny Green, and Kyle Korver in order of value and performance for ros? Thanks!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Jerry: I like that order. I know Ariza has started slow, but STL are still there and he shot awful beginning of last yr too and got out of it

  36. Stevie B says:
    (link)

    yo JB/Slim

Right now i am wondering whether i need to dump Andrew Bogut / Amir Johnson. Both are in messy rotation at the moment. Which one is better for future value?

    I’m in 12 team 9cat H2H league

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Stevie B: Ummmm, well Amir is off a good game, I’d lose Bogut first, but both are droppable

  37. Michael says:
    (link)

Do you think will barton is going to breakout this season considering Chandler is out. I just dropped david lee for this guy, he seems like a second option after gallo as a scorer on the nuggets.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Michael: Well def like him over Lee! I do think Barton will have ups and downs though, especially since they don’t wanna start him for energy off the bench, and if he’s not hot, he;ll have slow games like the previous 2

  38. Matt says:
    (link)

Do you think I should trade Kawhi for #occupy and Bosh? I’d be stupid not to do it right? Daily H2H 12 team, 9 cat, 32 game cap btw.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Matt: Hah not stupid, Kawhi is the best overall, but I’d certainly do it. Getting two premiere guys in a game-cap league is awesome

  39. Connor says:
    (link)

Would you deal Mo Williams for Danny Green?

    • Connor says:
      (link)

@Connor: Also, I’m looking for big man help for the long term. I need to pick two out of Amir Johnson, Bogut, WCS, Jordan Hill, John Henson. Thanks man!!

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Connor: Definitely! Kyrie is still a while out, but when he’s back it’ll take a hit for Mo. My two for ROS bigs would be… Henson anddddd, WCS I think, Love what Hill is ding right now but wears down and Bogut is always hurt, those two I might own short term over WCS. Any time!

  40. Mike says:
    (link)

    12 team 9 cat H2H

G: Paul, Wade, Mo, Burks, Afflalo, Jennings[IL]
F: Draymond, Gallo, Batum, Fournier, Bogdonavic
    C: Gobert, Monroe, Ryan Anderson

    Was offered Pau for Gallo+Fournier.

I could use another big especially with Gobert going down which leaves my team with 11(!) blocks this week.

Its a hefty price and I personally think Fournier is forreal this year. What should i do?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Mike: I dunno if that price tag is too crazy, but it does ravage your 3PTM which makes it a tough one for you… You def could use another big and can prob pick up a shooter, I probably would so it

  41. Jerry says:
    (link)

Ok, thanks. I’m short on pf with only having Tobias Harris, Barnes and Towns. Should I drop korver for Markieff then?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Jerry: I’d drop Barnes before Korver, I know Barnes is playing well though and of course doesn’t help PF depth… I’d find a way for Kieff on your roster, any other drops?

  42. eric says:

wazzup razzballers!! jb and staffs wanting to get advice on this

i wanted to counter offer it w/ his westbrook and his al jeff
    here is his lineup btw,,
westbrook, lou (lal), derozan, jordan hill, al jeff, felton, stuckey, rubio, tristan, canaan, bosh, mcbob
    any suggestion?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@eric: What’s good man?! Wow, surprised he’s letting Westbrook go for that! Yeah Tristan is garbage, love the Al Jeff one! Man he has a lot of scrubs on the back end, hard to find a good throw in with Westy…

  43. Everybody loves draymond says:
    (link)

    Hey JB

Who would you rather, Hassan Whiteside or Nic Vucevic?

    Cheers

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Everybody loves draymond: Uggghhhh good one… They’re really close, even though he had some wear downs last year, I think Whiteside is a tad more durable, but Vuc will score more with better FT%, very coin flip

  44. Lasandro says:
    (link)

Owner of burks in my 14 cat roto. Barton is raising my eyebrows, along with other things, after his last two. Cov is on the wire after I dropped him a lil while back. Clarkson freshly dropped. Please rank these guys. I like burks because his ftms are really helping me and he’s consistent with stls and brds and starting to handle that rock on O a bit. But Barton’s heavy run is looking nice and I know the rotoworld guys are hypin him like a motha! I picked up Marv Wil too because even when his shot isn’t dropping the dude is a 1/1/1 guy

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Lasandro: Well another game he didn’t start, and the Suns were up at 30 at half. Kinda fluky since they don’t wanna start him. I’d go Clarkson, Burks, Covington as the top 3. I’ve always been a Barton fan, but man people seem to overreact to bench games…

    • Lasandro says:
      (link)

@jb Gilpin: Covington and clarkson now gone so disregard. So pls rank Barnes, colli, A Gordon, Kmart, Barton and my burks.

So much for LBJs injury concerns this far eh? As I mentioned in an earlier post, the injections and laying on the ground could all e preventative measures. He seems to be well aware that his body needs that added attention these days.

Don’t know if you remember, but I wrote a post like two yrs ago talkin about how I had an open run with Julius hodge here in Saigon when he played pro in Asia. I scored on him at the hoop, then he dunked right on my face the next play. The highlight of my 20yr Bball “career” ha! Well, that, and you mentions him in your daily notes.

    • Lasandro says:
      (link)

@jb Gilpin: bazemore, lamb, dwill and parsons are on the wire now too – any of those rank higher than Burks on your roto list? I’m sure you’d prob rank them higher than Marvin but I need that help with brds, blks and some 3s and he seems to be the best fit I found on the wire. I’d certainly own him than, say, M Leonard.

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Lasandro: Burks Colly A Gor Kmart Barnes Barton ROS. All very streamable, in the same class.

Hahahaha awesome! I played against some dude that played pro in Italy that I think played at USC, def no one worthy of mentioning haha. Makes a painful appearance in today’s notes haha.

Yeah MArvin over Leonard is solid, Dwill is right there with Burks and Colly. Marvin fits your needs, I’m good rolling with him

      • Lasandro says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Bazemore doesn’t rank against any of those others? thought he’d be right up there with Burks and Co, maybe higher?

Pro player in Italy is still legit! Hell, prob better player than Hodge haha

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Lasandro: Hah well that guy was def toning it down too haha. Nah, Baze a little hurt now and I don’t think is this good ROS

  47. Kiwi says:
    (link)

Hey JP, loving the advice and constant input!
You guys are making a sorry fantasy season for myself just that little bit better 🙂

Quick one for ya, keeping in mind this is Roto.
Who would you recommend dropping for Dwight Powell?
I’m currently tossing up between Rodney Hood, Ish Smith and Miles Turner.
I’m leaning towards Hood, as I have an IR spot for Turner and I’m loving Smith’s assist production for the next month. I also have an abundance of SG depth with Ariza, Middleton and Will Barton covering the position.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers dude!!!!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Kiwi: Yo! Yeah if Turner is in your IL, no reason to drop him. Hood id my drop too, foot bothering him and isn’t huge anyway. Seems like a solid move, cheers!

Hi, I got a trade offer for Horford/Gallinari to my Melo/Valanciunas/Collison. Is it a god trade, i really want to get Horford?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@pitt: Yup looks awesome to me! Love Horford as well, best in deal for me, and Gallo is worth JV easily, Collison as a throw in doesn’t change too much

      • pitt says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Thanks JB. Would you think this trade will fit my current lineup.

G: Collison, Smart, Clarkson, Wiggins, Ellis
F: Griffin, TJones, Melo, Parsons, Aaron Gordon, Porzingis
        C: Noel, Valanciunas

Need advice on improvements needed for my team. thanks

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@pitt: Yup helps a lot of areas, still love it! Man, nasty looking team especially if Parsons gets healthy. Looks like you could use more AST, Smart off tonight’s awesome game might be good for a sell high. For Rubio? Haha might get taken as Rubio owners are madddddd

          • pitt says:
            (link)

@JB Gilpin: Thanks man, got lucky in picking up smart and jones last week. Will take your advice on Rubio, hope his owner bites haha.

            • JB Gilpin

              JB Gilpin says:
              (link)

@pitt: Nice adds! Def helps haha. My top 3 in this mornings post were Barton, Ezeli and Waiters. None are really big AST help, Ezeli might help a few swats if you’re against a good BLK team

              • pitt says:
                (link)

@JB Gilpin: It’s all thanks to you men. i really had a bad draft as a newbie and just had to upgrade my roster with your help.

Anyway, our trade got vetoed by other teams as they feel like i’m giving to much with Melo. Melo is really looked up in our league. What do you think if I add my Wiggins for his Jimmy Butler in the trade?

@pitt: Glad to help! Wait what?! That’s utter BS, give me their addresses, I’ll rough them up. horford id soooooo much better than Melo. I like BUtler over Wiggins, so yeah I would like it even more!

George Hill was dropped in my league yesterday 8 team, H2H, 8-cat.

    This is my team:
    Kemba Walker
    C.J. McCollum
    Danny Green
    Anthony Davis
    Rudy Gobert
    Jeff Teague
    Gallinari
    Horford
    Mudiay
    Gortat
    Butler
    Oladipo
    Mirotic

My only droppable players are Gortat and Green, but I believe they both will play better in a few weeks. I prefer a two for one trade, so if could you give some advice for some trades that I could try. If it doesn’t work out should I drop Gortat or Green for Hill?

@Kees: Wow, yeah crazy he was dropped… Ummmm nah I’d probably hold those two. Yeah Mudiay is a must-own in 8cat, I dunno man, Mirotic is looking awful and I dunno if he consistently is great, I’d probably rather Hill in 8cat. 3 for 1s, McCollum and Miro for something? Both are buzzy even though Miro is cold.

@740: Whoa DEFINITELY! George looks like a top 10 player, then to get Wall with it in 8cat?! Would be an unreal haul for Boogie. Any time!

My goodness Nik Sauce! Had a nice 0 for with 2 TOs. I know shooters go through slumps but man…I thought he’d at least get to .250 FG. Nasty FG last 4 games. And I’m not sure the stls and rebs during those 4 are typically what to expect from him.

If I weren’t facing leader of our league with Curry, Kmart,Gay, Rjax and Beal in his lineup this coming week (and effectively giving up on 3s category and benching Sauce for another few games to see if he can shot out of it), I’d drop him.

Not much on the FA wire. Gordon is available but have a feeling the big tease will continue to be one once Dipo returns.

Contemplating just going for Jerami Grant who shoots the occasional 3 but gives me out of position blocks (3s and blocks are 2 cats that I compete well but not top 3 in my league). If Sauce isn’t running Caliente, might as well just be ketchup right?

@kw: Yeah rough one there and got benched for the 2nd half… I dunno man, Curry is almost unbeatable for treys, I might get Gordon. He can hit a trey or two as well! I would get him, but still GRant over Sauce right now too

@JB Gilpin: Gordon just got taken….Not too worried about that. Yeah, I’m not even gonna try to compete for 3s (which will help me secure FG) w/o KD even if I have Dirk, TJones, Bradley,Smart,Bjelica, Wiggins and Porter. Curry is avging close to if not more than Dirk/Tjones/Wiggins per game avg. LOL!

I’ll see how many minutes Grant carves out tomorrow with Covington coming back before adding him. Hard cap on moves league (35) and I’m already at 11.

        Thanks again!

@kw: Haha yeah Curry is redonk! Ah yeah in hard cap, I dunno if I’d go for Grant for a while, never can trust Philly rotation

I play in a weekly league. Who should I play b/e lord covington and nick Stauskas? it’s 4 games of them or 2 games of john wall or gordon hayward. Tough choices…

    • JB Gilpin

@hanns: I’d prob go Lord Covington over Sauce, but if it’s only one spot I’d take 2 of Wall

Hey dude, would you drop RoLo for D. Powell? 9-cat

@To trade or not to trade?: Hmmmm, I’d prob stick with Boogie unless Drum side is already FT punt and needs more REB, but that’s unlikely

in a 12 person, 9 cat h2h. would u drop ish smith or marcus thornton for either of zach lavine, amir johnson, jerryd bayless, sefolosha (now that bazemore might be missing a few games maybe). thank you!!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:

@jim: Ummm, wish we knew for sure Rubio would be out another game or two, but I think LaVine is worth the gamble over Ish for short term, Holiday playing more and more. Then yeah, I’d get Amir for Thornton right now

Just trying to play around with my bench depth … my Bjelica and Capela for his Barton and KOQ?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:

@Dirk’s Digglers: Nahhhhh I’d probably hold there, KOQ losing mins and Barton I don’t think stays this hot, Bjelica more consistent ROS
