Razzball Nation!

DraftKings is back, and while we don’t have a Razzball Only contest this week (bummer, I know…), we can still all get together and sing some campfire songs over a big contest in the several they run every night!  I wanted to keep it low key, albeit with a big payday, so join me why don’t ya in the NBA $50K Layup!  It’s $2 to play, and pays out a cool, hard $50-grand for the overall winner.  If somebody from Razzball Nation wins, I better get a heavy dose of Crown & Cokes!  I’ll be in there with my jbrazzball moniker, so you can track me as I finish middle of the pack, which has been my normal finish most of the time this year in daily… I’m coming for that payday this Friday though!  If not, I might Drunk Uncle rant after tonight… So click-ity click that link right there, draft your team today, and let’s get some skrilla for Razzball Nation!

Here’s 5 of my picks for tonight’s action:

PG – Reggie Jackson – $7,000 – There’s the DraftKings $50K Layup, then the NBA Layup which is when you face the Sixers.  That is, unless you’re the Wolves of course!  Obviously Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are back, but this is the perfect opportunity to roll out a reasonably priced R-Jax who should tear apart the Sixers second unit and get a ton of run in junk time.

SG – Jason Terry – $5,700 – Another matchup-fueled pick, the Rockets get Minnesota tonight and Jason Terry will draw the start with Isaiah Canaan and Patrick Beverley still recovering from injuries.  Canaan is close and might surprise, but it should be the Terry show and he’s put up 35 DK points the past two games as the starter.

SF – Tobias Harris – $6,800 – “Body chocolate!  Wanna lick?”  Even in that blowout against the Clips and getting only 25 minutes, T-Hair put up 30.5 DK points.  30+ points the last three games even though his salary has steadily decreased the past couple weeks by $600 bucks.  Great value tonight against the Jazz.

PF – Paul Millsap – $8,800 – There’s no Anthony Davis playing tonight, so it’s going to make line-ups wildly variable across DraftKings on an otherwise very heavily scheduled Friday.  With that in mind, my big money play is The Sapper, who is averaging 37.8 DK Points a game at PF, the best output for any PF available.  Against the painfully slow Kevin Garnett plus some Mirza Teletovic, it’s a pretty dreamy matchup for Cerebral Paul-sy.

C – Gorgui Dieng – $7,200 – Finally hitting his stride Wednesday against the awful Sixers (although the Wolves are awful-er), Dieng put up a 15/16 night good for 41.5 DK points.  No Dwight Howard for Houston means another start for Tarik Black, so Dieng should have some room to roam there in the paint.  Choo choo!  Hop aboard that Dieng Train with me, why don’t ya?!

Again, I’ll be playing in the NBA $50K Layup, and I hope to hear from a lot of you guys playing in that one as well.  Good luck tonight!

Two trade questions: one because I want to make sure I’m not crazy and another because I want to break some kind of record with consecutive comments dealing with MCW…

Someone offered me their Rondo for my Calderon and Vala in a deep league with keepers, and Rondo would cost a R.3 pick next year. Am I missing something or is this terrible deal I think it is? 12-team, 15-man roster, 9-cat, H2H.

Would trading MCW (optional keep at R.7) plus D.West (probably not keeping him) for Rubio (optional keep at R.4) and Faried (probably not keeping) be something I’d want to do, and realistic? 10-team, 11-man rosters, 9-cat H2H.

      @Joe:

Wrong comment thread. I’ll re-post in today’s breakdown. My bad!

@Michael: Yeah, that’s a solid upset play. Not sure how Wrotens eventual return plays into it but for now, sure ride the hot hand.

@Slim: Money as well! Def copied you with LavIne. Doubled up winning $4! Jason Terry as I picked above was awesome, ended up penny pinching to get Lebron putting up 60. We’re rich!

    JB, Slim
Who do you think is better long term-Rasual Butler or Robert Covington?

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@Martin: I’m having trouble buying Rasual. I know he’s on fire but last nights 2 steals and 3 blocks are just absurd. I like Covington’s upside a ton more. I would take the risk on him before Butler.

@Martin: They’re about even. long term I agree Covington

    Hey,

I have Alec Burks in a H2H points league, but I already have Derozan on my IR so burning a spot is kind of bad. Is he droppable? Thanks!

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@asdfasdf: His points league value is probably very similar to his 9cat. I dropped him in my RCL. It was sad, we had a moment before I let him go but i know I’m going to be much happier not having to wait with bated breath for him to return to me.

      • asdfasdf says:
        (link)

@Slim: Okay, thanks! He’s actually not been very valuable for our scoring system so I guess it is okay to drop him, especially since I have already been burning a spot with Dwight on my bench for a while. Plus, he might play even worse if his shoulder is not 100% when he comes back.

        • JB Gilpin

@asdfasdf: Yup I agree, mostly a scoring only guy chipping in some boards… Too many injuries to hold. Thanks for stopping by!

    Hi JB

thoughts on Nene going forward? Pick him up and drop Gobert in a keeper league?

    • Blint says:
      (link)

also JB same league I have 2 trade offers. It is non keeper league 10 team but deep

first I give up Faried and get Varejao and Wiggins

second is I get Dragic and Calderon and give up Vucevic ( Other big men I have our Lopez , hill , Big Al, Kanter, Faried,)

player I can drop for the trade are Shabazz Muhammed , Fournier and Mo Williams ,

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Blint: I dunno if Gobert ever becomes a huge value starter, I’m fine making that move.

Yeah I’ll take Wiggins side! Scared of Faried and the minutes. Ehhhh I don’t love giving u Vucevic, he’s the anchor of your bigs

        • Blint says:
          (link)

          @JB Gilpin:

Damn as a Jazz fan like Slim I was a little biased towards owning him 🙁 Also now Mason Plumlee is another option I can add for Gobert or Motiejunas!

Rejected the Vucevic trade and accepted wiggins trade thank you 🙂

          • JB Gilpin

            (link)

@Blint: Ah yeah, for the short-term grab Mason! Nene’s minutes I’m guessing stay low for a while… I’m good having Motie and Mason. Any time man!

  9. Daniel Bryan says:

    Hey JB!

Just traded Parsons and Batum for Hayward and RoLo. Was it a good trade?

    • Daniel Bryan says:
      (link)

      @Daniel Bryan:

I needed a go-to scorer and a semi-decent big man. My other big men are Omer Asik, Nerlens Noel, Chris Kaman, and Larry Sanders (ewww, I know). Plus I have a shit ton of 3s and assists already. Just wondering if you think I gave up too much for Hayward.

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Daniel Bryan: Yeahhhhh sorry man I think you gave up too much 🙁 I like getting a big, btu I think you could’ve commanded a little bigger haul

        • Daniel Bryan says:
          (link)

@JB Gilpin: His only decent bigs are David West and David Lee (?). I thought I picked the better big of the three. But yeah, I’m kinda regretting the trade.

          • JB Gilpin

            JB Gilpin says:
            (link)

@Daniel Bryan: Well at least you’ll have that team to murder when you face them! 🙂 Yikes that frontline!

  10. Michael says:

Olynyk was invisible tonight. I’d tell you his stats but they’re too embarrassing to even mention. Is it time to drop him for Tyler Zeller?

@Michael: Hahahahaha, wait until you read the article for this morning/Monday morning. Editing it now, I swear it’s written already! Yup I’d own Zeller
