What a return from the break!

It was an exceptional weekend of NBA action after the wayyyyyyy too long layoff for the break, highlighted by a huge upset by the Blazers.  Is anyone else getting annoyed by that Damian Lillard commercial on the NBA App?!  The one where he semi-raps, then says “thanks for the motivation” when asked about his haters?  Well, it’s kinda fitting now, with that performance after that All-Star snubbery!  Dame went Insame on the Warriors for a career-high 51 points, going 51/0/7/6/0, shooting 18-28 from the field.  But the crazier numbers were 9 treys, and not a single TO.  6 steals and no turnovers?!  That’s winning hoops right there!  He followed it up with a huge night last night as well, going 24/4/4 through 3 quarters before grandpa JB hit his bedtime.  Portland bested Golden State with a crushing 137-105 W in that Friday epic win, solidifying the Blazers as a playoff contender.  No one thought they would even be close, and as Slim and I talked on the Pod, Stotts deserves a ton of cred and maybe some Coach of the Year consideration.  If you told me in October the Blazers would make the playoffs, I woulda said you’re Insame!  Here’s what else went down over an exciting return to hoops over the weekend, plus The 7 Ahead for week 17:

Anthony Davis Well hello, Shirley!  Yesterday afternoon showed why we spent #1 overall picks on the fragile little noodle!  59(!!!!!!!!!)/20/4/0/1.  He shot 24-34, hit 2 treys, and 9-10 FT.  Pretty much the most epic Goromotaro this side of a 40/40 double-motaro!  Remember a few weeks ago when I said everyone’s frustration with the nagging injuries might be overwrought?

Brandon Jennings – Yeahhhhh, I kinda had a feeling a BJ would throw a kink in things…  Kinda like the Clinton administration!  18/3/4 then 12/4/7 in his first two games in Orlando, putting the Elfrid on the Shelfrid.  Ugh.  He’s made them both pretty unusable.

Ersan Ilyasova The Six-Foot-Turkey scored 16 in his Orlando debut, but only 7 Pts in 18 minutes last night.  It hasn’t crushed Aaron Gordon‘s minutes, but it hasn’t helped.  Is Skiles the GM of the team too, making moves just to keep his rotations annoying?!  SKIIIIIIIIIIILES!

Chandler Parsons Getting healthy!  Full rainbow 24/4/4/2/3 Friday at the Magic, then 15/4/2/1/1 in 27 minutes against the Sixers last night.  D stats have come, scoring and 3s are here, patience is indeed a virtue!

Kawhi Leonard Sat all 3 games out of the break to end the week, GRINDING MY GEARS!  MRI on his calf showed a donkey, which was just really weird…

Shelvin Mack 16/3/6/0/1 in his debut for the Jazz, playing 25 minutes.  Led all Utah PG in run, and looked like the best one.  It’s almost liked I called it beforehand!

Joffrey Lauvergne WHY IS MIKE MALONE SO HIGH?!  Oh wait, I can guess…  King Joffrey comes out of nowhere like a White Walker and goes 22/7 in 25 minutes on Friday, only to play 2 minutes last night.  Conversely, Nikola Jokic picks up 4 fouls against the Kings Friday night and plays only 4 minutes.  Got Boogied!  Then Nikola BRINGS the Boogie, going 23/13/4/2/0 against the Celtics.  Well, they still lost, but ya know.  And either way, Jusuf Nurkic doesn’t play enough.  The Jamba Juice is running out of business!

Archie Goodwin – Benched for Ronnie Price, and not surprisingly, Archie plays more minutes, but not the 30+ we’ve seen.  14/7/1/0/0 for Archie, and it’s already pretty blah for 9-cat anyway before this reduced role.  The Price is wrong, bitch!

The Suns Epic Quadmire of Bigs – After a DNP outta nowhere due to a kankle, Alex Len plays his natural position of C last night and goes 23/13 in 24 minutes.  Doesn’t contribute anywhere else, but hey, at least he played unlike Tyson Chandler with a shoulder ouchy.  At PF, Mirza Teletovic has been the flavor of the week, hitting another 3 treys last night and ThrAGNOFfing it right nice.  After playing some really nice minutes, Jon Leuer gets replaced by Kris Humphries in the starting 5, and Humphries brings as much to the table as he did to reality television.  What a mess.

JaMychal Green After a really strong starting effort out of the break (9/11/2/3/3), got into foul trouble last night, playing only 20 minutes of 4/6/0/1/0.  We’re seeing very little out of Birdman or Brandan Wright, so JaMychal is the one to own.

Myles Turner I lovvvvvvvve him!  I talked with the makers of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade floats to make a life size Turner blowup doll for me!  Dude big!  16/5 with 6 blocks Friday night, including his first career trey with under a minute left in a comeback win at OKC, that made me literally yell, “WOOOOOOOOO!” like Ric Flair.  12/8 with another 3 blocks last night, and becoming a big X-factor on the Pacers who are winning games now.  Shocker!  You play your awesome rookie, you can win!

Ian Mahinmi Coming out of the break strong!  After Rotoworld crapped all over him for having several minor injuries this year, the Frenchman brought the baguette!  19/11/3/2/2 rainbow in that huge W at OKC, then 6-6 FG 14/9/2/2/1 last night.  A combined 67 minutes as well.  Nab him where you can.

Courtney Lee Oh Clifford, you Big Red Putz!  After singing his praises, Clifford only played Lee 21 minutes.  I still think Lee gets closer to that 30 MPG range of low TO ThrAGNOF, but pretty slow debut.

Doug McDermott McBuckets, emerge!  Career-high 30 Pts Friday against the Raptors, then 16 yesterday hosting the Lakers.  Gotta love the 16/0/0/0/0 lines!  ThrAGNOF!

Luol Deng Choo Choo!  There’s a SECOND Deng Train!  Who woulda thunk?!  30/11 with 4 steals Friday night, followed by 27/10/4 on Saturday.  With Chris Bosh a huge question mark and Deng hot, he certainly needs to be owned in all leagues.  He won’t hit 11-17 or 11-18 FG most nights, but ya know, shots should be there.

Hassan Whiteside After getting the one-game timeout in the corner, goes Goromotaro 25/23/0/0/2 in a crushing of the Wiz, making 11-15 from the field.  In other news, he didn’t punch Marcin Gortat, so, yeah… progress…

Goran Dragic Man, the Bosh void is helping out the masses!  Bosh is a martyr to fantasy owners of other Miamians!  17/5/10/4/0 and 24/7/8/0/1 lines over the weekend.  Better late than never!

Jeff Teague/Dennis Schroder On top of the bum kankles, now Teague has a bum wrist.  Can’t trust any of his joints!  With Teague only playing 18 minutes against the Bucks, the Schrodes stepped up for 25/8/10/1/1 in 40 minutes.  It’s annoying the trade didn’t happen, but he’s still got value 12ers.  I held where I could!

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope Just like a hardcore drug addiction, after you’re in withdrawal for a while, the first hit back might be a little rough.  But once your sea legs are back, you’re good to go!  Struggled in his first game back after the groin/core muscle strain – whatever it was – but 14/3/0/4/0 with a couple of treys last night.  Still shot only 4-15, but the addiction is only gonna get better from here once your body is used to it!

Tobias Harris Making quite the impression!  For some reason, Scott Skiles keeps getting the text “WHAT KANKLE?!” from a blocked number…  Anyway, Tobias has been solid for his new club, going 21/4 in his debut hitting 9-12 FG against the Wiz, then 16/5/2/1/2 yesterday afternoon in that loss to the New Orleans Brows.  I love that Anthony Tolliver still started, playing only 7 minutes.  At least StanVan is a man of his word, bringing Tobias off the bench his first 3 games!

Markieff Morris Ewwwwwww.  To quote G.O.B., “I think I’ve made a huge mistake…”  Consecutive stinkers to start with career in the nation’s capital, shooting a combined 4-15 and committing 8 fouls.  It’ll get better, no doubt.  Rock steady.

Jabari Parker Back-to-back big scoring games, culminating in a 28/13/2 Saturday night.  It’s still too empty to get too crazy, but scoring and boarding lately has it’s place on the right teams.

Robin Lopez HE’S SO BAD AT BASKETBALL!!!!!!!!!!  I begrudgingly cut him in a league to chase stats that weren’t REB/BLK, and he goes 26/16/0/0/5 at the Wolves.  Really, KAT?  Couldn’t put a body on this Sideshow Freak?!  AHHHHHHH!!!

The 7 Ahead

  • 5-game week: n/a
  • 4-game weeks: CLE, DET, GSW, IND, MIA, MIN, NY, ORL, PHI, POR, TOR, WAS
  • 2-game week: n/a
  • Weekly League Streamers (by Y! ownership percent/games this week): Ian Mahinmi (29%/4), Shabazz Muhammad (5%/4), Jerami Grant (15%/4), Gerald Green (15%/4)
  • Stream days: Tuesday

Overall Thoughts: Man, we come out of the 2-week ASB matchup to get a spread thin and wide slate for week 17!  Every team plays 3 or 4 games, and there’s only one heavy schedule night – Wednesday.  It’s going to be tough to keep from streaming too quick in limited-moves RCLs, but with free moves in daily leagues, it’s the week to go nuts and have multiple stream spots!  For my weekly plays, Mahinmi is more a hold, but I’m lazy and was shocked he was available in that many leagues.  Love Shabazz this week, especially with nice Sat/Sun matchups.  Jerami is blocking like a madman out there and is getting enough run for now to get starting consideration, and Green – while off a cold night – is getting run and the Heat are all reaping the fantasy reward of no Bosh.

Monday: Coming off a busy Sunday, it’s not surprising that several teams are wrapping up on back-to-backs, with BOS, CLE, DET, IND, LAL, PHO and TOR all on their second consecutive games.  No teams head INTO back-to-backs, so we’re set there, just monitor your vets and bruised up guys from those squads tonight.  With 7 games on the slate it might be tempting to start streaming in limited moves leagues, but it’s a really spread out week as mentioned above.  I bet Jeff Green at home against the Suns – after the Clips lost a tough one to GSW – gets some blowout run to get adjusted.

Tuesday: Our only “Stream Day” of the week – which I define as 5 or less games on any particular evening – Tuesday has 10 teams in action.  DEN, PHI, SAC, and WAS head into back-to-backs, so be sure any moves you make are either with guys for-sure playing or you can benefit from both games.  Your Magic at Philly could be interesting, but damn if SKIIIIIIIILES won’t ruin it!  Kings @ Nugs should feature virtually no defense, but be careful with Jokic after that foulfest against Boogie when they played only two games ago.

Wednesday: Our biggest slate of the week, 10 games grace our traditionally busy Wednesday.  GSW, OKC, and SA are your only b2bers, and of course those are the 3 best teams in the NBA.  Sorry, Cavs fans!  I’d be very leery of any banged up guys, or any Spur.  The Spurs play the Kings in this one, so if we get word of DNPs early enough, deeper leaguers could stream their fill-ins against the league’s best opponent for fantasy streaming.

Thursday: 6 games on Thursday, with only ORL heading into a b2b.  In limited-moves leagues like the RCLs, don’t get caught up into too much streaming too early – you’re likely going to need to plug holes in every day of the weekend.  GSW on a b2b after playing @MIA on Wednesday might be a little sluggish on Thursday @ORL, so I’m expecting a little bit of a surprise game there.

Friday: The normally busy Friday night only has 8 games on the slate this time out.  There are a few Sat/Sun stack teams, but CHI and MEM have a Fri/Sat stack if you’re already in maximization mode.  If the Grizz didn’t have only 3 games, I mighta picked a couple of weekly picks from them.  Alas, we get Fri/Sat @LAL and @PHO, so I could see big games from JaMychal Green and reserve Mario Chalmers in those.  I always look to my Kings, and they host the Clippers.  Might be another shot at a Jeff Green surprise in that one.  I’m all about the J Greens!

Saturday: Aight, the weekend is here, and we have another 8-game slate.  Fortunately for us limited-movers, we have several options for Sat/Sun stacks.  DET, MIA, MIN, and POR all have weekend b2bs, so I’ll likely save 2 of my 4 RCL moves to stack these guys up in at least 2 or 3 of my leagues.  DET gets @MIL & TOR, and unfortunately there’s no real streaming options on that squad.  MIA gets @BOS & @NY.  Gerald Green is off a cold game against the Wiz as I mention above, but he and Justise Winslow (who HAS been playing well lately) could both be options.  If you need points, Shabazz Muhammad is off a 20-pointer and the Wolves get @NO & @DAL.  At 5% owned, he’s a weekly play for me as well.  Finally we have POR, who have arguably the best matchups going @CHI & @IND.  Moe Harkless is a Hot Topic these days, but you can only play him if your FT% is Spencer’s.  Hah, no idea where that was going, Spencer’s=horrible.  Gotta factor in his freebie struggles and gauge how many mins he’s played through the week before nabbing him.  Maybe a little lower end, but Allen Crabbe could score a few PTS and get 1-2 STL a game in that stack.

Sunday: Wrapping up the week, we get 7 games on Sunday for a weekend 8/8/7 distribution.  Somebody wanted to lather it on even this week!  CLE, IND, PHI & WAS head into Sun/Mon back-to-backs, so monitor the availability of the streamable guys there.  If you’re still alive with some moves, ORL plays PHI a second time this Sunday, so you could risk some fringy Magic in that one.  If the Hawks play a lot of Teague/Schroder sets, expect a heavy dose of Jeremy Lin from the Hornets, although he’s been a little iffy lately.

I hope you had a great weekend, Razzball Nation!  Hopefully you’re pumped for the second half, as the final playoff push will make or break your squads in week 17.  Thanks for dropping by!

Great job again JB! I’m looking for best overall player(s) ROS among
    Matt Barnes
    Mirza Teltovic
    Ethan Moore
    Mo Harkless
    Shelvin Mack
    Cody Zeller
    Deron Williams

My cut candidates are Bazemore, Evan Turner and Markieff.
    Thanks for the help!

      @Tony C:

Yeah, some dude just dropped Barnes and I’m wondering, him or Bazemore ROS?

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Tony C: @Melo: Thanks man! Well starting with Melo, while I think Bazemore gets better, I think it’s Barnes.

So yeah I would make that move. Wow, I mean Deron Williams isn’t THAT good, but prob needs to be owned. I’d add him over Turner, then probably holding Markieff. Although if AST was a big need and no need for bigs, I could see losing Kieff first, but I think he gets it going as he’s eased in.

    Hey JB!
Would you mind picking which 2 players will be better ROS:

    Jon Leuer

    OJ Mayo
    Vince Carter

@Tyler: or maybe augustin and one of leuer or ilyasova?
          Liking augustin’s minutes last night.

            JB Gilpin says:
            (link)

@Tyler: Sure, man yeah a lot of parity there. I think i might actually go Humphries and JaMychal. While both are bigs, neither are huge blockers, and will score a tad and get REB. Surprised Augustin played that much as well, but meh, the Nugs are rebuilding and Jameer hasn’t gotten surgery yet, maybe he sneaks back into the mix

            • Tyler says:
              (link)

@JB Gilpin: youd rather have humph than leuer? So far leuer is outperforming humph even in less mins though?

                JB Gilpin says:
                (link)

@Tyler: These friggin Suns, it changes every game. I think Leuer is better in real basketball… It’s a coin flip, and either way you risk an 11 min game like HUmp had last night

    • JB Gilpin

@Dom: Sure, I don’t think Cojo has huge upside, I would probably take Mack ROS

  7. luke says:

Thoughts on shelvin mack ROS outlook..I just dropped c lee for mack..could see mack getting the Lionshare of pg minutes from here on out and avg 14 ppg 4 reb 5 ast 1 3ptm 1 stl though should I be worried w the return of burks..thoughts?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@luke: I like him, but yes very afraid of what Burks does to the rotation. So maybe not quite the points ROS or treys, but until Burks is back, that seems solid

  8. Lasandro says:
    (link)

You’d still rather A Gordon than Mahinmi right? He’s hitting a 3 per and his shot is yet to fall, which could mean for higher upside than Ian.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Lasandro: Yup I’m still down with that, plus his FT isn’t quite as bad

      • Lasandro says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Gah, that’s a tough one now, trying to judge which 2 of the 3 between Gordon, Len and Deng is must own. I have Gordon and Deng but Len has been getting SHOTS, damn. Deng still looking so good despite having an off-night.

    • Lasandro says:
      (link)

@jb Gilpin: Watson talking about how impressed he is with Len and that he wants him to grow. With Chandler likely on the shelf for the next few, worth a gamble grabbing Len over Gordon in my 14cat roto? I’m a Deng owner and don think he’s a drop, even with Wade likely playing tonight. Let’s see I guess

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Lasandro: @Lasandro: If I remember your needs, I dunno man, Deng might be the cut. The boards are just soooooo fluky, worth trying to do a 2-for-1 trade? I know it’s been tough dealing in that league tho

      • Lasandro says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: Yeah you’re right re: my needs – the brds, Obrds and efficient FGs is primarily what I’m after, with the ability to chip in either 3s or D stats. So Gordon is a lock in my lineup. Len now re-rolling his kankles, he seems a lot shadier a pickup in my shallow L.

I know you think Deng’s boards have been fluky but he was asked about his rebounding in today’s pregame and he simply attributed it to playing the 4 and naturally being closer to the rim as a result of defending in the post, not on the perimeter. On top of all that, the guy is a long dude anyway, so it kinda makes sense that he gets to that 7-10 per number each night. Particualrly with so many bigs focusing in on Whiteside. I haven’t seen how he’s played today, but I think Deng has to stick on my team for now.

Now if Winslow could hit 3s, I may pick him up instead because those D and brds numbers are looking shweeet!

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Lasandro: Yeahhhh I think Gordon is a little safer too, he and Len are close though. I dunno, Deng has been right at 5 RPG 3 straight years, sure it’s a position change and all that, but I dunno… Hah yeah Winslow is better on those d stats for sure!

  9. Jeremy says:
    (link)

Scooped up Burks last week hoping to hear at least some good news by this time now, but still nothing. I’m currently the 7th seed in a 16er, and playing the 3rd seed this week. What do you think is the time table for burks? should i hold despite i may lose this week, but theres really no one to pick up… the best available free agents are leuer, marco beli, and probably mayo…

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Jeremy: Yeah I was hoping for more too, don’t like how tight-lipped it got. Can you stream the spot? I’d be good giving up on Burks since it’s a tight race there

  10. John says:
    (link)

Elfrid giving me heartburn. CoJo in my streamer spot. I am secure in my playoff spot (in second by a game but schedule says I finish third.)So I can gamble a bit.

Do I stream both CoJo and, gulp, Elfrid? Or do I need to be more patient with Skiles (LOL). Points, Assist are areas to solidify. Wire candidates:

Mack, Augustine, Harkless, Shabazz, Chalmers, Barea and Danny Green who kills me whenever I pick him up. Tx

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@John: Hah you and me both! Cojo can go for streaming/probably would get Green. And I’ll still hold Eflrid and hope for the best over Mack, since Burks could really cloud the role

  11. Eddie Rooskie says:

The NBA is back thank you basketball gods for an action packed weekend! It’s as if time just stops during ASB and I’m left reevaluating my life.

Good news is that I have AD in one league and Damian Droppin Dimes Lillard in my other league (if you haven’t seen the new commercial with him and K Love making a music video, it’s gonna get more annoying than the other one) so I’m getting trades thrown at me left and right.

I think the most interesting one so far is my Lowry, Jabari, and Schroeds for DMC and Wiggins.

Having both AD and Cousins on my team would be nice and all but Wiggins is just kind of empty scoring in my opinion and I’m losing my precious 3’s in that one.

I can either try and get DMC + Middleton/Gallinari or do the above and have him throw in Harrison Barnes. I’d love to sell high on Jabari cause I don’t think he keeps it up. What say you?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Eddie Rooskie: Yessir, it was quite the weekend! Oh man, nice way to get outta the break or those squads! Haha, is that the one where they’re that family? Haha

Def like selling on Jabari. I like getting Cousins there, I kinda like it as it stands, but def good trying to add treys with those other wings first.

      • Eddie Rooskie says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: a Dame good weekend if you ask me. Only lost in one league by .1% in ft but oh well. Haha yes, The Hoopers the all star family.

This is the Jabari moment I’ve been waiting for since I burned a waiver pick on him. Who do you like more ROS between k mid and gallo because I’m definitely gonna try and target one of the two.

@Eddie Rooskie: Haha well done! And yeah, those are OK but haven’t seen the rap one. I do like DeAndre in a wig. thought…

I’d take Kmid first, a little more durability and better dimes

          • Eddie Rooskie says:
            (link)

@JB Gilpin: I’m sure it’ll hit a TV near you very soon. Hah him and Dame are my favorite, he actually has a perfect baby face.

He offered me wiggins for Jabari straight up which I took of course but I’m still gonna work on it. Love this time of the year when bottom of the barrel contenders start making last ditch offers.

Weekly H2H pts league, pick one for this week; all have 4 games:

    LaVine – Bos, @Tor, @NO, @Dal
Mahinmi – @Mia, NY, Cha, Por
    Winslow – Ind, GS, @Bos, @NY

I think Mahinmi’s the best in my format, but he’s in my IR slot, so if I start him I have to drop one of the other two, A. Bradley or Bazemore. Since I’m in 1st, I may be willing to take a slight hit this week by keeping him on IR, unless you have no problem cutting one of those other guys.

Also, echoing everyone above, would you drop any of these guys for Mack?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Steve Stevenson: Cool, gotcha, ummmm, I don’t have a huge issue dropping Winslow or Bazemore, but if you’re in first I think you can afford to give them both one more week. I’d probably play LaVine. Whew, well to add Mack, you likely have to address having an active guy in your IR… I probably would just hold to see those other guys for one more week

@hamtime: 1. Nah, not worth it to hold both, ughhhhh, Hibbert I guess? 2. OH I’m def cutting there, hate the Suns inconsistency. I’d nabbbb, hell gimme JaMychal for the upside, just not a Taj guy

    Hey hey!

Wondering what you think of Casspi…someone dropped him and he’s been putting up decent numbers but nothing great. do you like him as a pickup over:

    Mack
    Mo Harkless
    Lance
    Patty Mills?

I know it’s kind of tough to compare the PGs but just wanted to get your thoughts on the guy. Thanks as always!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@jdubs: Yo! Ummm, yeah probably over all of those guys, mayyyybe I would risk upside of Mack over Casspi is PG stats were a need. Casspi has been a little colder lately, but I think he can be decent again

JB! Two letters in your name mean two questions on Monday! My team in a 10-team h2h is Wall, Teague, A.Bradley, Redick, Middleton, Batum, Durant, Bosh, Zingis, Gortat, Gobert

    1. I have Bosh. I’m in 4th in my league but I’ve basically scored victories against every team in it except the no. 1. I think I have a shot this year, but maybe not if I hold on to Bosh too long and he ends up being out for the rest of the year. How long should I wait and see if he’s coming back? And if your advice is to drop Bosh this week who is a better replacement? Deng, Mahimi, Mirza, Clarkson?

    2. When do we go from “concerned” to “full panic SELL SELL SELL” on Duchess? (Or rather aggressively shop since I can keep him at a 10th round price).

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Joe: Hah sweet! 1. I’m probably letting him go if he’s not in keeper consideration for ya, and even so, his future beyond this year is pretty scary. I’d nab Deng. 2. Ummm, your league have a trade deadline? At least it’s been a little better… I’d probably try to hold unless blown away by an offer or it goes wayyyy South from here

  16. Connor says:
    (link)

Is Faried still considered a must hold? I’m in first, so no hurry to drop him but do you think of him as cuttable if a major injury happens and someone gets a clear jump in value? Thanks man! When do the top 100 starters come out??

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Connor: Nah I don’t think so, especially in a 10er. I have him on one 12er and still holding, but blah. He can def go if someone big emegres.

Hah, worked on it all weekend! And still only got into the 60s. Painfully tough this year, I got hung up in the 20-30 range and now in the barely draftable in mixed range… Probably early next week!

    Thanks.

@Zorn: I’ll go Barnes, but verrrrrrry close. If no need for 3s/no Ft% worry, def would go Mahinmi

  18. OldMilwaukeePounders says:

    JB, whats good mayne?

I don’t mean to brag, but I believe that I was slightly higher on the Blazers than most. I think in one of the preseason article comments sections I committed to my prediction of 35 wins, which they might possibly pass.

The part that surprises me is how little Meyers Leonard’s development or lack thereof has hindered them so far. He could still payoff for them by flashing some of that potential we saw at moments during the series with the Grizz last year.

Thoughts on Harkless going forward? He has been a great piece of my Commenter’s Dynasty team.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@OldMilwaukeePounders: What’s up?! Oh wow, and I bet I said that was too high! They def should top that!

I don’t mean to brag, but I was pretty low on Meyers 🙂 I was kinda low on em all tho, CJ didn’t work out though… Oh yeah, how is that dynasty going?!?!?! Ummm, I hate his FT% and it’s kinda meh for mixed leagues, but I think he stick for now for a few pts/reb/3s

      • OldMilwaukeePounders says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: The commenter dynasty is going okay. My team is sitting at 93-50-1, good for 2nd place and 5 back from 1st. There are a few inactive teams, but the commish is working to replace them. I haven’t made a ton of moves, but my team is kind of built for “contend now”. What do you think of the roster?

        PG – Lillard ($69), IT 2/3 ($18)
        SG – Monta ($20), Lou Williams ($1), Belinelli($1)
        SF – Thad Young ($18), Casspi ($1), Harkless ($1)
PF- Vuc ($38), Tristan Thompson ($2), Leuer ($1), Trevor Booker ($1), Christian Wood ($1), Jordan Mickey ($1)
        C – Whiteside ($35), Biyombo ($1)
        INJ – Cleanthony Early ($1)

What do you think? Any thoughts on how I might improve this team?

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@OldMilwaukeePounders: Wow, got some great cheap guys! We have a few similar guys at similar prices too! IT2 ($14), Thompson ($7) and Monta ($23 I think…?). Crazy!

Yeah you’re def awesome now, love that big man depth. Great G too. Easy to see why you’re doing well. I probably wouldn’t change that much for this yr, but in the first offseason if you can get anyone to take Lillard, I might try to move him for a few upsidey G since I like your values at F/C a lot

          • OldMilwaukeePounders says:
            (link)

@JB Gilpin: How do you value Wiggins? I got an offer to acquire him and I can’t decide if he is worth the price point the current commenter has him for…He has him for $62, and it would definitely blow up my core somewhat to hang on to him long term at that cost. What do you make of him going forward?

The deal requires me to give up two role player types, but they get about 20-30 minutes each right now. It is tough to replace those minutes.

            • JB Gilpin

              JB Gilpin says:
              (link)

@OldMilwaukeePounders: $62 is too expensive. I tried to get him in ours at $38, and anything I think in the 40s is starting to push it. I think STL and BLK come a little more as do 3s, but maybe only a 3rd/4th round wing rather than end of 1st/2nd like I thought he would be by 16-17. If you’re going for the title though, a rental might be worth it

          • JB Gilpin

            JB Gilpin says:
            (link)

@OldMilwaukeePounders: @JB Gilpin: Here’s me right now, lemme know what YOU think! 🙂
            PG – IT2/3 ($14), Brandon Knight ($15), Cory Joseph ($1)
SG – Monta Ellis ($23), KCP ($12), Zach Lavine ($6), Courtney Lee ($3), Archie Goodwin ($1), Tyler Johnson ($1), Kelly Oubre ($15)
            SF – Kawhi ($37), Jae Crowder ($1)
PF – Tristan Thompson ($7), Dwight Powell ($1)
            C – Ian Mahinmi ($7), Tyson Chandler ($9), Clint Capela ($1),

            non-keeper Jeremy Lamb ($11)

And I’m trying to make one last trade. My bigs are in need of addressing in the draft for sure, but I cleared out some money off the books and have youth. I’m looking at struggling to make the 6th playoff spot, and I just dealt Whiteside. His injury, Knight, KCP, Kawhi (DNP rest and 2 game weeks, before injury now), Tyjo, Mahinmi all having injuries around the same time sunk me for a few weeks. All it takes in a 20er…

  19. Kendrick Twerkins says:

You rather have Smart or Mahinmi overall?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:

So, that trade with dieng gordon and lillard for durant eflrid and zeller didin’t work out.

He sent me this offer now:

MY Durant + Elfrid for HIS Hayward + Kemba.

It’s a 10-team league…just not sure if that’s enough especially with going from durant’s fg to kembas.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Threekola: Boooo! Sorry to hear that. Yeah in a 10er, it’s tough giving up by far the best guy, I would need a smidge more

  22. Timothy says:

In a 10 cat 12er standard league, jennings, allen crabbe, gary harris, or galloway, I know im getting into fantasy playofs, galloway might be pretty good induring the fantasy playoffs?

      JB Gilpin says:

  23. Dante Green says:

RoLo 12 first quarter points….. He be like “Hey JB, who you callin awful?!” Hah

I’m probably benching Goodwin tonight. Though I traded him just yesterday (I uphold trades at least a day after it was accepted: my rule LOL). The kid has become somewhat unownable these days… He was on fire right after Knight went down, but damn, now the steals are non-existent. And for a guard to not provide enough assists? That’s unacceptable. And add to that the fact he’s an FG killer too. Nah, not for me! Hah

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Dante Green: Haha he uses this site as locker room motivation! posts my stuff on his locker 🙂

Yeah Archie is scoring and turning it over, about all you can rely on. He’s def on the fringe for even 12 or 14ers

      • Dante Green says:
        (link)

        @JB Gilpin:

Hah! He’s so good a guy from my league inquired on him! Lmao!

Bud, your thoughts on Winslow? Don’t you think the guy has somewhat found his groove? Scored double digit in his last three; tho he hasn’t converted a 3, he’s been a good source of boards and steals. And his FG’s pretty decent as well. Any chance he keeps this up (or even improve)? Coz I happen to have Portis and we all know he’s got an expiration date with Butler and Mirotic returning in a couple of weeks. So would you make the switch right now? Or wait it out?

(And Galloway seems like an intersting nab from the wire with the news of Calderon possibly losing the starting job)

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Dante Green: Hahaha. Yeah 3s were never a big part of his profile outta college, he’s fringy at best. I’d wait it out with Portis. Galloway is kinda low end too, even if he starts. Calderon was playing low mins a lot of the time already, and Galloway wasn’t huge in big mins off the bench in those games

          • Dante Green says:
            (link)

            Gotcha bud!

Anyway, I just gotta say this about Agordon. His game isn’t polished yet, well he’s only 20 and he’s not KAT, but he has the off-season to work on his game… IF (yea, a big if) ORL happens to fire their scumbag of a coach and replaces him with a fantasy-friendly one, man, Agordon could very well have a breakout season in 2016-17!

          • Dante Green says:
            (link)

            @JB Gilpin:

              (link)

@Dante Green: Oh for sure! The physical tools and talent are def all there. I’m sure he’ll be on many sleeper lists.

I’ve never been an Aminu guy, I actually think I’d take Portis still!

  24. Blint says:
    (link)

    Hey JB,

I own Bazemore in a Keeper Legaue. More like a dynasty league because we can keep everyone if we want to . He has been so bad lately. Already holding a lot of iffy players like Capela , Brandon Wright , Norris Cole and David Sloan . Should I drop any one of them for Chalmers, Leuer, Harkless,Jaymachal Green,Dj Augustin. Thanks! also MOAR podcasts please!!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Blint: Cool, dynasty is the way to go! Yeah he’s been trending down for sure. If you’re not in it this year, I would probably lose Wright, Cole and Sloan. Either way, Wright is probably out prob for JaMychal. And we’ll be back Thursday! I almost cut the tip of my finger off last night and had to go to the ER… Dumb me!

      • Blint says:
        (link)

        @JB Gilpin:
Well I am number 2 right now in the league but trending down last few weeks.
so I cut all those guys and pick up Jaymachal Leuer? Also Harkless where do you see him finishing rest of season? top 100?

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Blint: Yeah Cole’s minutes trend is blah. Might consider holding Sloan since you’re in it, but barely. Would grab Moe before Leuer though. I kinda doubt top-100 due to FT% and lack of D stats, but maybe close

@JB Gilpin: Thanks JB! No bye in 1st week of a H2H finals series. Its good being first but I feel like I am going to make some stupid trade to jeopardize the title! May just stay put.
