Another fantasy season has started and the weekly Buy/Sell column is here to guide you and help you decide which players to buy low or add from the wire and which players to sell high or flat out drop to improve your chances for fantasy domination. Before diving into the recommendations, it would be amiss to not include the following from Stephen Curry.

It has undoubtedly been a fun summer for basketball fans, starting with a highly anticipated draft class, continuing with some enjoyable trade activity in the league and finishing with a bang with one of the best, if not the best Basketball World Cup tournaments in history. So after watching too many World Cup games go to over 100 points for my European basketball brain, patiently waiting for a Lillard trade to materialize that hasn’t yet, reflecting upon the performance review of last year’s projections and overthinking about them at weird times at night instead of sleeping like a normal human being, I am excited to present you for the seventh straight year my 2023-24 top 155 projections for roto.

The 2023-24 season is almost here and all us fantasy nerds are getting ready to draft for the many leagues (always too many leagues) we will participate this year. As a great coach in real life would do, the offseason is the best time to reflect on last year’s fantasy choices, identify mistakes and improve upon them, to secure fantasy goodness at the end of the season. That is exactly what I will be doing with this article and have been doing since 2017 in this internet fantasy corner, so let’s get on with the review of last year’s roto projections in order to make this year’s projections better, as well as to identify potential opportunities and hazards in the upcoming draft. Regarding last week’s suggestions, Kris Dunn was underwhelming, particularly in the steals department with 0 steals in 3 games, while both Royce O’Neale and Josh Richardson were serviceable streamers and their spots can be freely used this week for additional streaming.

Regarding last week’s suggestions, it was one of the best weeks as both Austin Reaves and Josh Green provided excellent performances, with Reaves scoring a career high 35 points in his last game and Green filling in admirably for Luka Doncic. Patrick Beverley was also pretty solid and the absence of Alex Caruso should keep him relevant for standard leagues for the upcoming week as well.

Regarding last week’s suggestions, Tyus Jones has predictably been excellent and with the return of Ja Morant nowhere in sight, he can continue to be a game-changer in fantasy playoffs. Tari Eason has also been good if you exclude a disappointing start for Alperen Sengun and will still have good value for the rest of the season, while Kris Dunn has certainly been useful but with Utah playing only on Saturday he can be safely dropped to increase your team’s played games. Finally in the “Sell” front, my bold suggestion to drop John Collins seems to be paying off, as he has not produced to standard league levels since Quin Snyder took over in Atlanta.

Regarding last week’s suggestions, Dennis Smith Jr. had a good week and should maintain respectable value for the remainder of the season and the same can be said for Matisse Thybulle, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Finally, Xavier Tillman was another successful suggestion and his value was further enhanced due to the injury to Brandon Clarke, who will remain out for the whole season. As long as he and Steven Adams remain sidelined, Tillman should be a good streamer for standard leagues.

Dennis Smith Jr: LaMelo Ball is unfortunately out for the rest of the season with a fractured right ankle and the obvious next man up is Dennis Smith Jr. He already filled in his role admirably when Ball was sidelined at the beginning of the season and can provide a substantial boost in perimeter stats and more particularly in assists and steals. He was famous for his athletic ability since his college days and his years in the league have not slowed him down.

After the news that Zion reaggravated his injury and will likely miss more weeks after the All-Star break, it got me thinking how many games Zion actually has managed to play since entering the league. And then I stumbled upon a very interesting statistic that reaffirmed my initial thoughts. Zion has only played in 39.4% of the available games in the last four years and this is a great cause of concern for his career and for the New Orleans Pelicans in general, who are fighting for one of the last playoff spots in the West and could certainly use Zion’s help.
