Weekly Pods, woooooo!  Slow clap the ish outta that!  On today’s show, we catch up on some early training camp headlines like Cameron Payne’s tough injury and Denver further hype-training Slim’s boyfriend.  He has so many boyfriends on Denver, it’s tough to keep track!  We then go through my Razzball 100-150 Ranks, with some good yelling and arguing through the late round calls. Here’s our latest edition of the Razzball Basketball Podcast:

(…of course, an hour or two after we record, the huge news on Ben Simmons hits.  Stupid timing!  He obviously gets crushed in the ranks…  Saric time!)

Looking forward to your new ranks on them sixers. Projected lines for saric and Bayless now?

@Lasandro: I don’t think this moves the needle on Saric much, I think he’s still sub 30 minutes and he needs to play SF or he’s stuck in that nasty big man rotation. Bayless should be running the offense more and I would guess he goes for career high numbers pretty much across the board but with that said I’ll still take the under on 5 assists per game.

RAZZUP?!!!

been doing mocks, kyrie and oladipo are easy choice over bledsoe. both have top 20 upside as well. but would you pick isiah over bled? for me its all bout the asst, isiah can match the 6 asst can bled offer. after him, mccolum is the next one, and thats where bled comes in for me.

@MAC: I don’t think it’s all that close between a healthy Bledsoe vs IT2/3rds. Nearly 3% higher FG%, nearly doubles his steals, 1/2 a block more, and 1 board, in exchange for 0.5 a 3, 5% FT%, and about 3/4 of a TO. That really isn’t close. If the concern is health OK, but if healthy this is a blowout.

@Slim: yup, its all about health/risk on those knees. no doubt il take bledsoe over thomas if both play 82. but wud u pass up on bled for thomas?

@JB Gilpin: u got me wrong razzman, i said picking kyrie and oladipo over bledsoe should be easy as both have top 20 upside as well like bledsoe. but its isiah im having a tough tym in mocks if both avail in the 30s. no doubt bled over thomas if both play 82. but its those knees man. is it not enough of a gamble for u to pass up on thomas? next PG on my board is mccollum, and for me thats an easy call. ill gamble on bledsoes knees over mccollum. cj is more of a wing with those dimes, and the fact that it will go down more with turner in town. though if punting asst, mccollum over bledsoe is okay.

How would you say this news affects Simmons keeper league value?

@Big Red: I don’t think it does at all, but if you’re a win now team then there’s probably going to be something more useful. I guess it depends on whether you have an IL spot and how many keepers you bring with you next year. If only 3 or 4 keepers then I’d let him go.

@JB Gilpin: @JB Gilpin: We have an IL spot and also get to keep plenty of players. I want to bite on Simmons but Aaron Gordon and Ingram are also available to me and they might pan out better for my build. How would you, in a vacuum, rank them against Simmons for long term value? And yes, I’m in win now mode, time to get the trophy back! Razzball tips have been helpful so far, so thanks 🙂

Hey, what do you guys think about Tomas Satoransky in deep dynasties? Thinking about dropping Willy Hernangomez or Timothe Luwawu for him. Should I sit tight, or is his upside worth taking the gamble over? Thanks!

@Drez1: over those two? definitely Tomas!

@Drez1: Satoransky should play… but I don’t think he’s much more than a 15 min per game guy tops. He could take over the backup PG job and he has shown some playmaking upside overseas but he’s an extremely low end scorer outside of a 3 or 2. I wouldn’t count on too much in the way of defensive stats and he’s kind of a high TO guy too. In a dynasty he’s last on the list of those 3 esp since he’s already 24, but for this year I wouldn’t be shocked if he plays more than those other 2. I don’t think there’s much in the way of upside for Tomas. Luwawu is chock full of upside and on such a garbage team maybe he can play some this year but he’s pretty raw and turns it over way too much. Nothing about Hernangomez screams NBA starter so if I were to lose one of them for Tomas it would be him.

Hey quick question as i’m tempted to ride the hype-train and draft dipo over kemba at 20 in roto…your thoughts? Also how would you rank the two above compared to uncle drew and lowry?I’ve read the pg tiers article but i was wondering what kind of impact the roto format has on the rankings…Thanks in advance!

@Kostas: You could easily make an argument for either Kemba or Dipo, Kemba more for 3s, Oladipo for FG% and blocks. I tend to favor Oladipos stat line over Kemba since it covers more cats. Kyrie vs those 2… eh, you lose the steals without gaining much in the way of assists, although Kyrie should have slightly more 3s than Oladipo but it isn’t enough to pass him. Lowry… I don’t like paying for a career year and everything seems to point to Lowry coming down from last year, steals weren’t close to his past, he’s the lowest FG% of this group of 4. Plus he’s the oldest of this group which always worries me, he played way too many minutes last year and he has the longest injury history of this group by far. I think they are all about even (late 2nd/early 3rd rounders in a 12er) but I would rank them (in roto) Dipo, Lowry, Kemba, Kyrie.

@JB Gilpin: I’m a bit concerned about the offseason surgery for kemba and the fact that he still does only non contact drills doesn’t help….If they are both healthy I would 80% take kemba if both are available…

Love the site…hoping for some advice on some basketball keepers.

10 team, H2H, 9 Cats

Gotta keep 6 players by 10/8 and I have four locked in: DeMarcus Cousins, Andrew Wiggins, C.J. McCollum, and Andre Drummond. I need to keep two more from this group: Marc Gasol, Bradley Beal, Tobias Harris, Nerlens Noel, Chandler Parsons, or Julius Randle. I also have the 2nd and 4th overall picks in our upcoming draft and expect to take Ingram at #2.

Thanks a bunch.

In a dynasty 9 cat h2h league, would you trade 6th pick (would be my first round pick since I’ll be keeping 5 players) for his 10th and al horford?
I’m guessing yes?

@JB Gilpin: Not sure you got my last response, but I won’t be able to see the available players at those two picks (5th and 6th) as the keeper deadline coincides with the off-season trade deadline… With that in mind, it should be relatively safer to go with keeping Harden, Porzingis, Kemba, Dipo and Horford right?

What do you think about this team? I went pretty heavy on the bigs early and went on a PG streak afterwards. What am I weak in? Should I be punting anything?

PG Rubio, Schroder, Payton
SG G Hill, Barton, J Richardson (Stash?)
SF WesMath, Luol Deng
PF Davis, Draymond, Saric
C Brolo, Gobert

Hey guys, where would you rank Brow for a keeper league? Is he bumped up ahead of harden or Westbrook?

Hi JB/Slim,

Hoping for your inputs in assessing my team (14-team 9-cat H2H).

I got the 4th pick and decided to punt AST after the 2nd round:

Durant
Aldridge
Brook Lopez
Dieng
Ariza
Fournier
Avery Bradley
Kanter
Beverley
Hollis-Jefferson
Danny Green
Tyler Johnson
Codey Zeller

Thanks!
