Don't be shellfish...Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterShare on Google+

So one of my favorite directors, Darren Aronofsky, is working on a new movie Noah that is going to come out some time in 2014.  Yeah, it’s about the dude in the “we’re gonna need animals in this boat”, not “we’re gonna need a bigger boat.”  Russell Crowe is going to be Noah.  Hmmmm.  (Did you know “hm” can be played in scrabble and Words With Friends?  Man, did that grind my buddy’s goat.)  I don’t know how I feel about this new Aronofsky outlet, especially with a budget reported at $130 million.  That’s a lot of water tanks.  We all saw what happened to Waterworld.  Producer Scott Fanklin said “…we stayed very true to the story and didn’t really deviate from the Bible, despite the six-armed angels.”  Mind… Blown… Speaking of six-armed angels and Noahs, Joakim Noah was downright swatty last night, racking up 11 Blocks against the 76ers.  Although I guess Noah would be a six-armed Bull.  Something like a mix between Goro and Motaro. Hey, that might actually be a step up looks-wise.  Animality!  Noah’s final line of 8/12 FG 23 Pts 21 Rebs 1 Ast 3 Stls and 11 Blks gave him one of the sexiest triple-doubles since three Baywatch lifeguards ran to my aid after a jellyfish stung my tooshie.  Here’s what else happened around the NBA last night:

Sucker Punch! Another reminder to like us on Facebook as all our sports have melted into one hard-hitting Fantasy hub that stings like a butterfly and flies like a bee.  OK, maybe I got that wrong, but it’s something like that…  Once you follow, you’ll spontaneously outburst in dance in costume and merriment.

Spencer Hawes - Huzzah for more than one rebound!  Despite Noah’s Goromotaro performance, 20 Pts on 7-18 shooting, with 15 Rebs and 2 Blks.  Pretty solid line, considering his last three combined games he put up 18 Pts 12 Rebs and 3 Blks.  Still not a big Hawes fan, but if you’ve held out hope, this game should keep him on your roster at least a few more games.

Chris Paul – Became the main scorer for the Clips last night going 11-18 FG 29 Pts 6 Rebs 8 Asts and a steal.  His most points since Jan. 4th as he continues to play will minus one tough game against the Spurs.  Health care is the issue at hand!

Danny Granger – Has played exactly 19 minutes in all three of his games back from injury, but was able to hit double digits going 5-10 FG for 12 Pts 1 3PM 2 Rebs and 1 Ast.  Been a very slow road back.  A tough guy to cut because you don’t want another owner to pick him up for the playoffs, but I don’t see fantasy goodness coming too soon.

Nikola Pekovic – Pek got a strain in the ab.  Had to leave last night’s game after only 9 minutes.  No word on the severity, but I doubt he’ll miss much time as this is his 234th injury this year.

Derrick Williams – Wasn’t spectacular, but 15 Pts (6-14 FG 2-2 FT [way to shoot better than 3-10 at the stripe D-Will!]) (punctuation overload!) 8 Rebs 1 Ast and 1 Blk.  38+ minutes in all the last three games, and if Pek misses a few games plus AK47 is out, Williams should get a lot of love in the Minnesota offense.

J.J. Barea – I picked up the Wolves backup PG for a spot start for some pequeno help in assists and was pleasantly surprised with 20 Pts 2 3PTM 4 Rebs and 5 Asts.  Another guy who could benefit with a few more shots with Pek and AK out.

Earl Clark – Had boatloads (another Noah reference!) of questions about keeping/cutting Clark, who despite a lack in scoring last night, had a rainbow line of 4 Pts 4 Rebs 4 Asts 3 Stls and 2 Blks.  To only get 3 shots in 30 minutes is a little intriguing as Kobe took 22 (usual), but Antawn Jamison and Jodie Meeks both took 11 (unusual).  The peripheral stats help the scoring lull, but those stats come top down and if you’re not scoring and rebounding, you’re less likely to get a few extra minutes, thus fewer situations for steals and blocks.  I have no problem dropping him for Tobias Harris now.

Tonight’s Games: I’ve got Houston @ Orlando then Thunder @ Nuggets.  I’ll be watching Thomas Robinson hopefully get a few more minutes, then watching as just a plain NBA fan in what should be a thriller in Denver.  Shoot me your comments below or tweet me (@jbgilpin) any of your NBA questions!

So i am in serious injury trouble… with Pekovic and Ak47
I am in a weekly H2H League – 9 Cat Plus Techs and splits Rebs into Oreb and Dreb
I NEED to win, I am in 7th place
I am playing the #1 team next week
His lineup is Kyrie, Harden, Lillard, Pierce, Duncan, Garnett, Monroe, Ginobili, Vasquez and Collison

Assuming I sit AK47 and Pek (injuries) and Danny Green (2 game schedule). My lineup projects to be all of the following except 1 – who is the one you’d sit?

Conley, Batum, Teague, Mullens, Horford, Sanders, Marc Gasol, Rubio, Wall, Jarrett Jack, Earl Clark

Based on stats from the last month,
If I play Jack and sit Clark I would win asts, stls, blks, orebs, drebs, %’s and pts would be a toss up but it’s close (negatives mean lose)
    pts/g (7.7)
    3/g (4.2)
    ast/g 13.7
    stl/g 6.7
    blk/g 19.7
    fg% 0.1%
    ft% (0.1%)
    dr/g 9.6
    or/g 15.1
    to/g (15.7)

Also, is there a Free Agent move you would make? FA’s include MKG, Elton Brand, Ariza, MWP, Vince Carter, Jermaine O’Neal, Aminu, Biyombo, Tony Allen, Tobias, Harkless, basically anyone owned less than 60%

Thanks in advance, I know this is a LONG question

@Zandy: Haha long question indeed! No worries though, I know all the details! So what I would do is drop Clark and pick up probably Tobias, who has the most upside in my opinion. Since you’re not playing Clark/pickup anyway, I would pick up Tobias and see how he does this week while on your bench. After last night, Clark is sinking fast to me. Hope that helps!

Was offered Josh Smith and Tony Allen for Dwight Howard and Greivis Vasquez in a 12 man H2H league.

I am currently in first and Vasquez is my main source of assists. However, Memphis and the Hawks both play an extra game each during my playoffs. At first I was for this trade, but now not so much. What are your thoughts on this?

@J Money: Nah I don’t do that. I think Dwight could be big to get the Lakers that 8th spot in the West and Vasquez is huge. Allen is a steady few stats every category every night, and of course Smith is good, but I don’t think worth that haul.

Jarrett Jack, Earl Clark, AK47 for Anthony Davis and Amir J?

I guess Amir J or Tobias?

@Zandy: If you can handle the missing 3s and Asts from Jack, I love that deal. I think Davis will end strong and not high on Clark and AK47. And would stick with getting Amir for the blocks and track record.

Hey buddy… Didn’t you tell me to try and pick up Thomas Robinson?? He doesnt look like he’s doing so good but someone dropped him.. Is he still a good pickup

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Frank Lynch: Nah I wouldn’t use a spot on him right now. I think he could finish strong, i watched the Rockets last night and Motiejunas can’t play defense to save his life, so I think T-Rob will get more and more minutes, but right now he’s not ownable.

The latest I heard on Jameer Nelson was he’s getting evaluated today to see if he’s ready.. Do you have any inside tips?? Hey also I read what you put about Earl Clark. It felt like you were directly talking to me about getting asked all the time about him. LOL.. Cpme on JB, you can admit it.. LOL JK

@Frank Lynch: Hah not just you a lot of other commenters as well! Nelson was be out last night, and there still isn’t that rush to get him back on the court. I don’t know his timetable but I think he’s out 2 more games is my guess.

Hey buddy… Do you think de colo or gary neal are a good pickup cause of parker’s absence? If so then which one? Also if you think one of them are a good pickup is it worth dropping Ariza? Thats the only player I can drop.

@Frank Lynch: I’m not huge on either one, and I would hold onto Ariza. I think Neal will be more a scorer and get 3s, De Colo will have more assists. But I stay with Ariza.
