Spencer Hawes had 20 points, 9 rebounds, an assist, 3 steals and 5 blocks. He is averaging 13/6 over the past 2 weeks. I’m not sure how I feel about that, but his ownership is creeping up to the 50% mark. What does this have to do with Gustavo Ayon? With over 27 minutes as a starter, Ayon went for 4 points on 4 shots, plus 3 boards, 2 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks. Now everyone that asked if they should pick up Ayon is going to ask if they should drop him and pick up Hawes. I wouldn’t let this game sour you on Ayon, but I might roll with Hawes anyway. Like the gardener asked, how’s that for hedging? Prior to last night, Ayon had 9/12 and 12/13 nights. That’s good. If he has a clunker every now and then, it’s because he was never supposed to be a starter and can’t be expected to produce good stats every night. I mean, the guy is 27, he’s practically deceased. Speaking of practically deceased, Ayon can remember the presidency of the first George Bush! He’s so old, his teeth float in water at night. He’s so old, his liver spots have wrinkles. Yowza! It’s like doing punch up for the new Scary Movie script. Anyway, here’s what else happened last night:

Monta Ellis – 20 points (3 from downtown), 6 rebounds, 7 assists, 6 steals and a block. It’s not like you don’t know that he’s good, but hat tip for 6 takeaways.

Kosta Koufos – Aaaaand…he makes me look like an as (10 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 2 blocks).

Kenneth Faried – Some leagues split rebounds, and the first fantasy basketball league I ever played in had those stats, so I love it when you see a guy obtain 21 points, 15 rebounds (9 offensive!), and 1 assist. More offensive than defensive rebounds? Snazzy.

Damian Lillard – He earned the cumbersome double double and a half with 17 points (3 from downtown), 8 rebounds, 11 assists, 1 steal, and a block. I should just get Lillard alerts sent via text message to my phone…you know, if this was 2006.

Carmelo Anthony – Sat out Wednesday after saying he would play. He hurt his knee on Tuesday. He is considered day to day.

Kyle Korver – He played 40 minutes and missed 2 of 9 from downtown to finish with 8 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, a steal and a block. And he was actually doing pretty well this month.

Zach Randolph – Not a lot of guys with the first name of Randolph anymore. Hmm, go figure. Zach finished with 23 points (including a 3), 9 rebounds, 4 steals.

Andris Biedrins – He grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked a shot while taking none of his own. He had 10 rebounds in his last 3 games. Sometimes he doesn’t even play in games. So, yeah, fun night for him.

Randy Foye – Missed 2 of 8 from beyond the arc, finished with this line: 8/2/1. Kobe Bryant, meanwhile, Hit 40 points (5-9 from deep), and also added 4 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 blocks. After much deliberation, I think it’s safe to say Kobe > Foye.

Eric Gordon – Could play this Saturday. Saturday night’s all right for playing, get a little action in.

Jose Calderon – My secret boyfriend earned 7 points, 4 rebounds, 10 assists, and a 1 steal. He is averaging about 13 assists per game over the past 7 days.

Tyler Zeller – With over 36 minutes starting at Center, managed 6 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal and 2 blocks.

Emeka Okafor – 17 points, 10 rebounds, 4 blocks, nuff said. Nuff said because I don’t want to write anything else. Thanks, Stan Lee.

Will Bynum – Close your eyes, ignore the first name, and know that Bynum scored 31 points. Now open them, and let that tear roll down your cheek.

Andre Drummond – He got the dub-dub with 16 points, 12 boards (7 offensive), 2 steals and a block. Again, love those o-boards, which is what they used to call dildos in the 11th century.

Robin Lopez – Thanks to 11 of 12 from the free throw line and 9 of 10 from the floor, Robin finished with 29 points (team high), 3 rebounds, and 3 blocks. No, my that wasn’t a typo; that is 3 rebounds.

Bismack Biyombo – Nobody beats the biz (at middling stats): 7 points, 10 rebounds, 1 block.

Roy Hibbert – Set an NBA record with 23 blocks. Ha, just kidding. The Bulls and Pacers game was postponed due to weather. Is it baseball season already?

Amir Johnson – Throwing a bone to the Canadian fans, Amir had 12 points, 6 rebounds, an assist, steal and block. He’s averaging roughly 9/7 with 2 blocks over the past 2 weeks.

Ramon Sessions – The deep league hero tallied 19 points, 1 board, and 5 assists.

Bradley Beal – Missed all 5 shots, finished with 2 pints, 2 rebounds and 4 assists. Thanks for helping my fantasy team, Brad.

Ryan Anderson – Had 15 points with 1 three (but only 4 of 11 from the field), plus 5 rebounds, 2 assists and a block.

Jason Maxiell – Missed the 3 shots he attempted, had 1 point, 6 rebounds, and no blocks.

Evan Turner – To stick it out or not to stick it out, that is a question: 1 point, 6 rebounds, 9 assists, 2 steals, 1 block and 6 turnovers.

Jason Kidd – Sorry to talk about Jason every damn recap, but he went for 23 points (5 three pointers made), 6 rebounds, 8 assists and a steal. That’s vintage Kidd, or vint-Kidd.

Marcus Thornton – We see where his value is when he doesn’t score: 6 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 threes. Quick stats: 3.3 RPG, 1.7 APG, 1.0 SPG, 0.2 BPG. No, those aren’t his season stats. Those are his career stats. Come on, Marcus, if you’re not making threes, you’re not making anyone happy.

    hi ther.e..i’m new to fantasy basketball but kosta is available in my league (also jordan crawford and greivis vazquez)…drop danny green or jason terry for any of those 3? i need to improve fg%, ft% and TO. thanks!

      @trick dad:

      Vasquez is a stud but he’ll hurt you in FG and TO…same with Crawford. Not sure how good Kosta’s FT% is but you also have to think about the volume of free throws. Even if he shoots well at the line but only averages like 2 FT a game it won’t have a significant impact on your FT%.

      @Daniel: Daniel @trick dad: Daniel is right, Koufos only averages 1-2 FTs per game. The math doesn’t work.

        @ChrisV:

        Wrong players to drop if you want to improve FG FT and TO since they are not liabilities in those categories, must be some of your other players!

    Hey thanks for putting up these posts.

    I currently have Conley, Lowry, Walker, Dudley, Thornton, Chalmers (just picked up for his steady 3s and steals), Deng, Pek, Horford, Sanders, Bosh, Favors, Drummond. I’ve been 2nd to last in my roto league in steals and can’t seem to pass people up. I am very close to 4 others in a battle for 3s (hence picking up chalmers). I’m hurting in assists since Lowry has been down but was doing fine prior to that. My FG% is also crappy but improving steadily. Any advice on some sensible buy low/sell high trades that could help my team out? Any ww picks that could help me out?

    On the WW: Gee, Beal, Wright, Mo Williams, IT, Barea, Bledsoe, Belinelli, Hawes, BB.

    Thanks!

      @Daniel: Chalmers should actually help you out with steals; he’s in the top ten or so. You also have Walker and Conley, who are in the top ten for steals. It’s actually weird you’re doing poorly in steals. You’re strong with big men; maybe you can try to move a guy like Bosh or Thornton for a guy like Rondo or Jennings.

        Thanks for the help. I’m trying to swing a prayer deal for Leonard. Hoping for Thornton for Leonard but he might ask for more. Any ideas I could try to nab him for?

          (link)

          @Daniel: Leonard’s hype is a bit high right now, considering he just got back. If he won’t accept Thornton, then you’re going to end up overpaying for him in the immediate future.

          (link)

          @ChrisV: @Daniel:

          Seems like your problems will be solved once Lowry comes back. Sell high on Thorton is the best you can do. Leonard is not too high for Thorton. If both were playing at their best Thorton’s actually better.

    H2H, 8 Team League, 9Cat

    I have these guys:

    Guards: Westbrook, Jennings, Conley, Kidd, Afflalo,
    Forwards: Durant, Love, Anthony Davis, Gerald Wallace
    Center: Hibbert, Gortat, Monroe

    I usually win the 3pts, points, rebounds, assist, steals, blks cats.

    With that being said I have to need your expertise on these 3 questions:

    1. What is the trade value of Monroe and Jennings individually and collectively (2 for 1 who should I target)?
    2. Should I hold on to Kevin Love, Monroe and Gerald Wallace? If not, who should I target.
    3. Waiver Wire has these players: Bynum, Granger, Korver, Teague, Jack, Mo Williams, Shved, Henderson, Bargnani and Favors. Should I be dropping any of my players for the said waive waire players? If so, who would you recommend?

    Also, what is the projection of Love, Monroe, Gortat and Jennings for the ROS in the player rater?

    Your help is always appreciated. Thanks!

    • ChrisV

      ChrisV says:
      (link)

      @Mike: 1) Monroe and Jennings should be able to net you a top 25 player.
      2) I would hold onto Love.
      3) I would sooner move Hibbert over a guy like Wallace. Hibbs has been a major disappointment unfortunately. Bynum is still out for a while. Maybe March he’s back?

      We don’t have any ROS projections available at this time, but check back over the next month.

        Yo hey bud, thanks for the speedy reply!

        Hopefully, Westbrook Love and Jennings get their FG% up. Goodluck on your team! Will let you know what happens!

          (link)

          @Mike:

          Trade Monroe for a David Lee who will bolster your FG%?

          With KD you should win FT% almost every week! lol.

            @Eric:
            Love in his first 3 weeks just plained suck. Won my first one last week when love was hitting at least 75% of his 8 attempts per game.

            Owner of Lee wants Westbrook/Love for him. I dont think thats a good enough trade. What do you guys think? I’ve also been traded Aldridge plus Dragic for Love. Thats the most intriguing so far.

    I am in a 14 team h2h keeper league. We keep 5. I was offered d will and David west for hickson and lillard. Getting d will is huge but I’m apprehensive of making this trade. What do I do?

      @Ryan:

      What about dropping Michael Beasley and picking up Matt Barnes, Beasely doesn’t deserve to be on any roster at this point. You should keep your players, DWill has a messed up ankle that he’s playing on, stay away!

      • Eric says:
        (link)

        @Eric:

        I’d also look on waivers to drop someone like Andre Miller and Kris Humphries, they have no upsdies. Alexy Shved, even JJ Barea have more of an upside though Miller does have good FG & FT%. Get another shot blocker and three point shooter who gets you assists.

    in a 8 cat roto league, j kidd is still available. should i pick him up and drop leonard or turner?

    • ChrisV

      ChrisV says:

      @jc: Which Leonard? Meyers or Kawhi? I’d hold, unless you are desperate for steals, then I might switch Turner for Kidd.

      • ChrisV

        @ChrisV: Presuming you meant Kawhi FYI. Meyers you drop.

      • jc says:
        (link)

        @ChrisV: yup kawhi. im neck in neck in the steals cat. kidd seems primed for a bigger role in the offense now that feltons out. whats your thoughts on dragic? he is frustrating with gentry’s rotation being the way it is.

        • ChrisV

          ChrisV says:
          (link)

          @jc: Kidd is already averaging 33 MPG over the past 30 days, so it’s not like he will see THAT much more action.

          As far as Gragic, I expect him to bounce back. Systems can help or hurt a player, but he has too much talent to simply die on the floor.

          • jc says:
            (link)

            @ChrisV: maybe not more minutes but perhaps more shots/ assists? felton was shooting 10+ shots a game..and dragic , he gives you a good game then 2 clunks. well thanks for your insight and happy holidays!
