I’m convinced that Rajon Rondo is the first guy off the second tier instead of the last guy off the first. He shot 1-for-10 last night, he’s shooting .377 this month, turning the ball over nearly five times a game, and bricks almost half his free throws.

Serge Ibaka had 14 rebounds and seven blocks yesterday. Danny Ainge is smart, but Darrell Morey Sam Presti is smarter. A full year of Ibaka at PF next season is going to be huge. After just seven games this month, Ibaka has more blocks (25) than in either of the last two.

Houston’s Kyle Lowry dropped seven threes last night, making it 24 bombs in six games. That’s a league-high, the current franchise best and a wicked, wicked third-tier keeper option for your team come the fall. Lowry is ranked 16th in the league in assists and 15th in the league in steals per game, which ain’t too shabby considering he was just a seagull on the submarine’s radar during the preseason and was drafted in fewer than 25 percent of this season’s drafts.

Three months ago, the Charlotte Bobcats were an aimless team with two underwhelming fantasy options (Gerald Wallace and Stephen Jackson), a slight surprise late-round draft pick (D.J. Augustin), and a long-shot stud that, again, has underwhelmed (Tyrus Thomas).

Perennial first-rounder Chris Paul slammed his noggin yesterday, hit the ground with a stillness that silences crazed stadiums, was carted off the court amid extended hush and finally gave a thumbs up to signify … that his hand wasn’t paralyzed, I guess.

Jason Richardson stepped out of his Delorean in a Phoenix uniform and dropped 24 points on 9-for-14 shooting (six threes). Dude hasn’t cleared 20 points since January 15 and hasn’t scored 24 since December 15. S’what happens when you go from being a team’s no.1 offensive option to another team’s no.4 offensive option.
