You asked for it, you get it. Don’t get used to it though. Just because I wear belly shirts and blink a lot does not mean I’m a genie. I grilled up some salmon, put a Vicki Carr record on and toiled away the hours updating Razzball’s Top 200 for head-to-head leagues. When I was done, my knuckles were bruised, my knees ached and I’m pretty sure I friggin’ hate Vicki Carr now. You see what I do for you? I’m not even sure why my knuckles and knees were in bad sorts, but I’m pretty sure it was for you.

The stat projections are the same (except for the players that weren’t on the original list (highlighted in blue)), but their suggest draft order has changed. Where did Maggette go? What’s an Afflalo? Did you forget Bynum? No, not Will. Andrew. They’re all there. Or not there. Good luck this weekend with your drafts. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do. Or do. Whatever.

Thanks to Razzball commenter Frank Kim, we’ve also got a super-fancy printable spreadsheet for your downloading pleasure.

  1. ThE sHiT says:

I drafted for a 16 team H2H league earlier. It was a snake draft and I had the 6th pick. I chose to punt assists. I personally didn’t draft but was on the phone for most of the picks with my brother who doing the actual drafting for me. I feel I’m a little rookie heavy but do feel strongly about Wall and Cousins. Wes was picked for me even though I would’ve gone DeRozan. What do you think of the team? (Besides the sagging FT%)
    PG Wall
    SG Evans
    G Afflalo
    SF S-Jax
    PF JaVale McGee
    F Cousins
    C Dwight Howard
    Util Hibbert
    Bn Taj Gibson
    Bn Wes Johnson

  2. ThE sHiT says:

Thoughts on giving up Cousins for Batum?

  3. Adam

    Adam says:

@ThE sHiT: It’s a risky team, for sure. Besides Jackson and Howard, no one on your team has been in the league three seasons. I’ve also got concern about your assists. I like Cousins more than Batum. I’d try to unload Boogie for a mid- round PG with some scoring punch.

  4. John says:

Why the sudden crazy love for Deron Williams? He went from 18th in your old H2H rankings to 5th here.

  5. ThE sHiT says:

@Adam: Aim for Holiday, Westbrook, Harris?

  6. Adam

    Adam says:

@John: After paying attention to the patterns in mock drafts and early drafts I’ve participated in, it seems as if teams are snatching up even second-tiered PG sooner rather than later. With demand that high, it drives up the value of guys like Williams. Late-round fliers like Augustin and Udrih are fine, but not if other teams solidified their PGs in the first three rounds.

@ThE sHiT: Holiday. This way you can balance your team and maintain its average age.

  7. John says:

@Adam: Yeah I like Deron higher than most for that same reason. The thing is I am having difficulty building a strong H2H team around him. He doesn’t have any obvious punt categories without losing significant value. I think he’ll be a little higher in steals than you do, but even if you punt steals, I find that some of the bad steals players that jump up in value if you go that route, also are weak in threes, Derrick Rose comes to mind.

With that said, you don’t HAVE to punt anything in H2H, but you really need to draft well if you want to play that game.

  8. Fletch says:

@Adam: My worse nightmare happened in my draft. Everything was going perfect until my internet connection went down for a minute right when I was drafting in the 5th round. I got stuck with Ty Lawson in the 5th….OUCH. At that point I didn’t give a shit I was so pissed off. Anyways, here is my team and wonder if I have a shot…perhaps someone on waivers can come to my rescue during the season.

    CBS 12 team H2H….everything worth 1pt Ast worth 2pts:

G – D. Williams, M. Williams, Conley, Udrih, Jack, Lawson
F – Gasol, Smoove, Boozer, Hickson, Morrow, Delfino
    C – Bargnani

  9. Adam

    Adam says:

@John: I like Deron BECAUSE it’s hard to punt anything with him. I find he’s a good pickup if you’re planning on taking a few PG fliers at the ends of drafts.

Assuming you’re not punting a category, you can better afford to take Teague or Udrih or Conley when you have Williams anchoring your guards and spend rounds 2-10 working on your forwards and centers.

  10. Diamondoug says:

    Hey Adam

Just a thought but maybe on some of the injured or injury prone type of players you throw a number at the end of the projections as to how many games you anticipate a player making.

What would your quess on Kobe be ? I seem to be getting the 5-7 area of drafts a lot and he is falling to me ?!!!

  11. Adam

    Adam says:

@Fletch: Aw! I hate the Internet glitch! It happens to someone in every draft. It’s like demonic clockwork.

Your team doesn’t look awful. Boozer’s a problem, of course and Hickson has sorta fallen apart in the last few preseason games. But you’re in a league that awards assists over all else and you have six players who specialize in that stat.

It’s unlikely that anyone has as much PG firepower as you (there aren’t 90 awesome PG in the league, so you’ll drop most, if not all, of your league in the most important stat on the board).

Your scoring and steals may be a problem and it wouldn’t be awful to consider packaging two of your PGs for a strong scoring+steals big (think: Blatche or Millsap).

  12. Adam

    Adam says:

@Diamondoug: Yeah, Kobe went 11th in my 14-team draft last night. I don’t think Kobe will miss many games this season, but much like January/February of last season, I think a lot of people will wish he would miss a few games instead of toughing it out and hurting the team (and his stats).

If I had to guess, I’d say he misses no more than eight games this season.

  13. ThE sHiT says:

@Adam: You think Cousins will get it done 2 get me Holiday?

  14. AdamH says:

Not that big of an issue, but did Korver go from 113 to off the top 200? I guess that means I should be dropping him soon?

  15. Adam

    Adam says:

@ThE sHiT: Not sure. But you’ve got a better shot at him than Westbrook and I’d rather have Cousins than Harris.

@AdamH: Yep. He’s hurt and he’s not starting.

  16. brad says:

Let me preface my comment by saying that I’ve always been bothered by how useful Warriors players have been in fantasy when the team sucks so much ass in real life. So to some extent I might be a Warrior hater.

That said, I think you’re a bit high on Golden State fumes. The six guys you’ve listed here project to 101.5 pts, 41 rebs and 28 asts per game. Considering GS averaged 108.8 pts and 38 rebs and 22 asts per game as a team last year, and will likely be slowing down at least a little this year – ideally playing more than six guys those projections seem kinda unlikely.

It also leaves like 7 points, -3 rebounds and -6 asts to spread between Vlad Rad, Amundson, Bell, Carney, Gadzuric, Lin and Brandan Wright. I’m not saying any of those guys will be a fantasy force, but most of them will probably see playing time, and they’ve got to do better than a point and and no dimes/boards each I’d think.

Sorry to nitpick, but I think something’s gotta give, there’s no way the team can sustain those projections. I think Curry’s the most likely to hit those projections. Lee and Biedrins will probably get 20 rebs between them, not 25 and the points and dimes for everyone besides Curry will be much more scarce. Am I way off?

  17. ThE sHiT says:

@Adam: I thought so. The guy with Jrue was on autodraft and ended up with 5 PGs including CP3, Westbrook, Jrue. He needs bigs and SF so imma try 2 pitch Cousins 2 him. Should I wait til Cousins has a couple good games next week 2 propose the trade or try 2 get it done b4 tuesday?

  18. Adam

    Adam says:

@brad: You’re not way off at alll. As I mentioned at the top of this post, I didn’t alter the projections for most of these players. Had I done so, I’d have averaged Lee, Curry and Ellis at about 20 ppg each removed some of Lee’s rebounds and asts (about 10.5/3). Having said that, remember that Maggette averaged 20/5 last season and none of the bench players you mentioned are going to sniff this average.

Also, you’re right about the pace slowing down, but I’d be shocked if the efficiency didn’t rise.

@ThE sHiT: If you’re sure you want Holiday, do it now. Waiting for a player to get hot works both ways. If Jrue starts the season well. He might not want to trade him.

  19. Jt says:

wow, I have maggatte as my starting small forward; from these rankings in seems like I should drop him, should I? I

  20. Jt says:

whoops, I was just going to say Afflalo’s on the waiver wire right now. Are you worried because of the injury? Also, is it because Delfino (even though Maggs would have come off the bench anyway) might snag minutes from maggs because he’s a much better defensive player (you know how Skiles loves defenders).

  21. Adam

    Adam says:

@Jt: A month ago I would have said hold on to Maggette, but he’s about 80-85 percent right now, lost the starting job to Delfino, probably wouldn’t play more than 25 minutes per game even if he hadn’t lost the gig and plays in a Scott Skiles offensive system that won’t support Maggette’s lack of ball movement.

He’s not worthless, but Afflalo looks more promising in the short term.

  22. Adam:
Adam – nice job on the re-ranks. I like where your head is at regarding PG. I’m in total agreement, if you want a top 8 PG you’re gonna have to draft them before Round 3 in most 12-14 team leagues. Having just been victimized myself in my snake draft, I thought I could get 2 top tier PG in rounds 3-4 and was totally disappointed when Westy, Tyreke, Rose and Collison were gone by midway thru round 3.

Few other thoughts regarding my favorite BIGS (value) and where imm targeting to get them. Your thoughts?:

C – Gasol (obvious, I know). Top 6 pick. He’s gonna be closer to 23/12 with good perecentages and likely carry the LakeShow a little more with Kobe playing “I’m resting for playoffs” guy and Bynum shelved thru late November.
If you can get him in early 2nd, its a homerun. I got him 15th overall in a 12 teamer recently.

C – JaVale McGee. Uproven, but youth movement in Washington and he’s developing fast. Everything is there for him to explode to a double/ double with 3+ blocks in Saunders system. Love him after 7th rd.

PF/C- Kevin Love and Joakim Noah. Gotta draft Love in 3rd or very early 4th, ditto Joakim. I think both are primed for monster seasons. Steals if they last mid way thru 4th.

PF/C – Scola and Millsap are gonna exceed current ADPs, I like where you have them and have been targeting both. I’m expecting 17/10 and 16/11 respectively with good percentages and light blocks for Scola. Steal after 6th rd.

PF/C – Cousins. Starting outta the gates in Sac. I could see 14/10 with decent FG and below avg FT%. He went in 9th round in my 12 teamer, which I think is excellent value. I like him after 6th/7th rd.

Question – any insight on to what is going on with Ant Rand in NY? I’m now reading that he may not even make the “rotation” early on cause he’s not adapting to Mad Mike’s game plan. WTF? This guy is a double-double machine with sick steals and blocks waiting to happen in NY. I drafted him in 7th rd and am expecting 4th/5th rd value. Am I missing something?

Thx and excellent work on the rankings.

  23. ThE sHiT says:

@Adam: I sent the offer of Cousins for Jrue. Cross your fingers! Thanks for the help!

  24. Jt says:

As I write this, Maggette with 17 points on 0-2FG, but with 17-20FT, holy crap.

  25. Adam

    Adam says:

@El Burro: The thing with Randolph – he’s a double-double machine in theory. Never really proven to be one yet.

    @ThE sHiT: Good luck!

@Jt: We live in a crazy world.

  26. Midget says:

@Adam: Dropping Splitter for Teague, good idea?

  27. Adam

    Adam says:

@Midget: I’ll put it this way, it’s not a BAD idea. Both are moderate risks at this point, but all signs point to Teague taking over the Hawks sooner rather than later.

  28. A.J.K says:

based on these new rankings, what are your thoughts on a deal that sends

Griffin, Bargs and B Jennings for D-Will, Hibbert and Stephen Jackson

  29. Adam

    @A.J.K: Take it.

  30. A.J.K says:

  32. Adam

    Adam says:

@Jack: With Wall as your only starting PG, you’re going to be light on assists and possibly steals. I’d work on obtaining another PG who will average at least 5 apg.

When your IR guys get healthy, drop Chandler (I know he’s on your IR), Casspi, Morrow, Moon/Lawson in that order.
