Greetings and salutations my Razzball followers, as we are firmly entrenched into Act Two of the NBA season. Check your watch because it is winning time.

As the legend, Freddie Mercury bellows out:

“We are the Champions, my friends. And we’ll keep on fighting till the end”.

This is the mantra moving forward and, as your running mate, I hope to toss you alley oops weekly by way of a player who is underperforming and should target with hopes of securing at a discount.

This week there is only one question that comes to mind: “What’s so good about Cleveland”?

Evan Mobley

Following a playoff game in 2010, Joakim Noah posed that question. Well Noah, we have an answer and it is none other than USC product Evan Mobley.

The front-runner for Rookie of the Year has been having a fantastic first season for a surprising Cavaliers team that is fifth in the East and only 1.5 games back of the division leading Heat. The Cavs are an improved team for many reasons; new coach, rejuvenated Kevin Love, and improved play from breakout stars Darius Garland and Jarret Allen. One of the most impactful reasons is prized rookie Mobley who has showed the upside of a player who has the ability to be a top 20 player in fantasy as early as next season. This season Mobley is averaging:

51% fg, 67.4% ft, 15 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.7, assists, 0.8 steals, 1.7 blocks and .04 three’s.

Those averages have resulted in Mobley ranking 73rd on the season on Yahoo. Over the past two weeks, he has been the 164th ranked player but when we look at the past week, that ranking plummets to 203rd on the season. This will not last.

The reason for the steep drop in rankings is due to a pathetic free throw percentage of 35.3% on nearly six attempts per game. I am willing to bet his free throw improves and you should be too as there is absolutely no way he continues to shoot this poorly much longer. All of the other stats are intact, and if you are in a dynasty league, there will never be a brighter green light signaling you to make a play for Mobley.

The upside for the rest of this season is not as high as it is for the years ahead. However, do not let that derail your decision to buy low as Mobley is poised to have a great second half on a team playing for a post-season berth. Get your offers out there immediately and take advantage of a pessimistic manager by gaining yourself some Mobley stock.

“No time for losers”.
