My friends, we are in the thick of it, as the NBA trade deadline is upon us and we have already had some big names change jerseys and felt the ripple effects across the fantasy landscape. With many moves still yet to come, you will need to keep your head on a swivel as the news will break fast and furious. We live our lives a quarter mile at a time until 3pm eastern time Thursday.

So, that being said, I wanted to be sure not to speculate too much in this week’s post and decided to go with a player who has already been traded and that  will not be jettisoned to another location before the deadline.

With so much drama in the NBA

It’s kinda hard to keep up but that’s ok

Still I, somehow, some way

Keep bringing you a player with value like every single day.

CJ McCollum

Christian James McCollum or CJ as he is widely known is now a New Orleans Pelicans.

After seven years riding shotgun to Damian Lillard, CJ will be hoisting home game shots in the Bayou. This seemed inevitable. Not so much that it would be a trade to New Orleans but more so that there would be a trade to somewhere. The fantasy implications are positive for CJ, as he will go from a team that is blowing their roster up in search of ping-pong balls to one that is delusional enough to believe they are in a playoff hunt. My feelings about the Pelicans matter not. All that matters is that CJ will be on a team fighting for something and therefore increases his chances of staying on the court and performing at a high level.

Over the past two weeks he is the 94th ranked player and over the past week, that ranking drops to 138th overall.

McCollum is a player with top 50 potential and this welcomed change of scenery may be just what he needs to reach those heights again. He will not continue to shoot 35.6% from the field or 75% from the line. I see CJ averaging closer to last years shooting percentages of 45.8% from the field and 81.2% from the line and you should as well.

I imagine CJ will come out of the gate full throttle in his first game as a Pelican and therefore try to get some offers out to his less optimistic and frustrated GM and see if you can swap a top 75-80 player for him.

As always, hit me up in the comments section below and good luck out there.

Peace.
