Well, remember about a month ago when the Paul George news seemed more optimistic than the Knicks season outlook?!  OK, maybe that’s not too optimistic, but ya know…

Slim and I both maintained you can leave George on your wire in H2H leagues as a stash, and it took until the final Sunday of the H2H championship to get back on the court.  So maybe we were wrong!  Hah, I doubt anybody in a H2H final was able to stash him that long…  PG13 returned from that horrific injury last summer for 13/2/2/2/0 on 5-12 FG (3-6 3PTM).  Did have the 3 TO, but man, even the most die-hard Pacers-hater has to be happy to see George back on the court.  Obviously in Roto, he’s a must add for this final week plus.  That said, played 15 minutes off the bench and I doubt he gets to 30 in the remaining week in a half.  Oh yeah, assballs and a bump of coke!  Needed to be sure this was legit rated PG-13 for “some language and drug use”.  Here’s what else went down over the weekend in fantasy basketball action:

Derrick Rose – Said he will “likely return this week.”  There was “likely” an STD contracted during Jersey Shore and I unlikely care about either.

Paul Millsap – Hurt his shoulder Saturday night, but said he was feeling pretty good.  Yeah, with only 19 losses at this point I’d feel pretty good too!  Likely will get some precautionary DNPs to the ire of roto owners.

Ricky Ledo – Had his Poppycockers bonkers game!  It’s like the movie Eddie, except the team is worse.  “Ivan take charge!”  21/9/3 with a couple of treys Friday against the Wizards, but quickly became as irrelevant as Whoopi Goldberg by his next game last night.

O.J. Mayo – Boston got their clam chowdered with extra mayo!  Yuck, that sounds disturbing, I’m too scared to Google if that’s anything close to something in Urban Dictionary.  24/5/6/2/1 with 4 treys in 29 minutes, then went a usable 14/2/1/0/1 with 2 treys on 6-10 shooting Saturday.

Thaddues Young – Only got to 29 Pts when both Brook Lopez and Deron Williams got to 30 Friday night against the Craptor defense?!  29/6/0/4/0 with 5-9 FT in a line that is reminiscent of a good Thad game in the Wolves days.  But then all the Nets caught the craptor fever and got bludgeoned by the Hawks 131-99 Saturday.

Nikola Vucevic Can’t stop the Vuc!  Career-high 37 Pts Friday night on 18-25 shooting, but shoulda dropped that 40-burger!  1-4 at the FT line…  Justin Hamilton, bless his heart, tried his best but can’t D up the Vuc…  J-Ham still with a decent fantasy line though (14/9/2/2/1)!

Victor Oladipo – First off, I had no idea his full name was Kehinde Babatunde Victor Oladipo!  A name so full that I wish it mimicked his stat line…  Burn!  I mean, he was fine through the H2H playoffs, but not great at all.  I got some flack for calling him a sell-high mid-season, and through the playoffs you got 9 games of 18.9/4.6/5.0/1.6/0.4.  That’s good and all, but 2.9 TO, 39.7% from the field and under a trey per game…  Gus Ayonin’!

Aaron Gordon I really like Gordon as a prospect (oh no, I’m in baseball mode!) and flashed some good games over the weekend, mainly 10/12/1/0/2 on 5-6 shooting against the Bucks Saturday night.  We’ll have to see how the PT is looking next year, but might be a sleeper.

Russell Westbrook Westbrook?  Not a sleeper…  11th tripdub for 40/11/13 last night.  Sheesh, as I mentioned on the Pod, if you bought him during his injury stint early in the year, what a buy!

James Harden Speaking of things I said on the Pod, while making my SideLeague picks I said Harden+Westbrook might combine for 100 in yesterday’s game.  I was pretty effing close!  Beard put up 41 giving them a combined 81.  Those two are a bunch of schlubs for coming short…

Ty Lawson – Had a late scratch Saturday night with a forearm issue.  I’ve got an issue between my forefinger and ring finger, it just keeps staying up by itself!

DeMarcus Cousins Absolute monster.  On Friday night put up his THIRD STRAIGHT Goromotaro and his second straight tripdub.  Playing angry – maybe because the Kings are an atrocity…  24/20/13/1/4 against the Pelicans, but it came to a screeching halt against the juggernaut Jazz D for “only” 26/12/4/1/1 and 8 TO.  Can’t handle the Rudy Gobert D!  He’s so good at D, he made Boogie shoot only 4-9 FT too!

C.J. McCollum Flash that potential!  I feel like that was a quote someone wrote on To Catch a Predator in a chat room…  Career best 27 in a 27/6/3/2/0 line, which looks even more stellar with it on 10-16 FG (2-4 3PTM 5-5 FT) and no TO.  Your first question should be, “who was it against?”  Yup, the Lakers…  Then back to his normal-ish stats Saturday…

Nicolas Batum Spoiler alert!  About to win an official Razzball award tomorrow!  Will not travel tonight to rest his back, so McCollum might be an interesting stream tonight…  Crap, I gave it away!

Jerami Grant Flash that potential!  Hah, couldn’t resist…  10/4/2/2/6 in a rainbow against the Hornets, but man, couldn’t deliver vs. the Poppycockers in a game I thought he’d do well trailing off to a 4/1/1/1/0 line…

Hassan Whiteside Like I said before, snitches get stitches!  So Hassan musta snitched on someone else!  Hah, I don’t even know what that could mean…  Had his stitched together hand get opened up Saturday night and had to sit out yesterday as a game-time decision…  I bet a lot of H2H championship owners are thinking of giving Whiteside some stitches themselves!

Luol Deng Getting an MRI on his knee, and there’s fears he’ll be out for the year.  It sounds like it’s been a lingering issue, so I doubt it’s a torn ACL or anything that will hurt him too much for 15-16.  But Roto owners can prepare to move on.

Gerald Green His game reminds me of Terrell Owens…  He’s always open!  Got 22 minutes Saturday night and made em count for 10-17 FG (3-5 3PTM) 24/2/1.  When asked how he feels about Hornacek not playing him much he said, “that’s my quarterback!”

Shane Larkin – 11 rebounds?!  ELEVEN?!  15/11/7 last night, but like that McCollum line above, you gotta be like, “who was that against?!”  The Sixers…  Who might have a bigger Poppycock than the Poppycockers…  Size doesn’t matter, it’s how you LOSE it!

Streamers/Cheap Daily League Picks:

C.J. McCollum (5% owned) – Only one game tonight, on a slate that was due to have no games since the NCAA Championship is tonight.  But alas, this is the blizzard rescheduled game!  And as mentioned above, no Batum makes McCollum interesting.

Meyer Leonard (1% owned) – The Blazers are resting everyone, with LaMarcus Aldridge and Chris Kaman out as well.  So it’s time to hop on the Oscar Meyers Wiener mobile-train!  That’s too many forms of transportation…

We’ll have the glamourous 14-15 Razzies award show tomorrow then the RCL Championship post lead on Wednesday, but Daily Notes will return for Thursday and Friday to round out the week.  I hope Razzball Nation brought home a ton of brass in the H2H championship, and if you’re still going in Roto or in a week 24 finals, good luck the rest of the season!

    JB and Razzball Team,

I have to say huge thanks to you and many other Razzball writers. You are one of the reason I have been doing quite well in my main league. I hopped on the Draymond train because of you and he definitely have paid off handsomely. I drafted Millsap and he was a stud all year long. Lawson provided the HUGE assists throughout the early months.

All fantastic draft picks + lots of luck with not much injuries = Dominance! 125-54-2 for a .694 W-L record!!! I never made playoffs for 4 years in a row. This season I was no.1 all season long and loss only 2x, even then it was a close 4-5 losses.

Ironically though, the players that gave me total dominance in regular season end up killing me in my finals week 23. Millsap playing without cause. Lawson super tank mode. Draymond resting mode. I got totally trashed in finals losing badly in points, rebounds, ast, steals. Even my FT was terrible. I finished at no. 2. Sad loss, but it was definitely an exciting journey.

*clap* *clap* *clap* cheers for Razzball Nation!

@DK: Oh I also climbed back from depths of losses in another league and end up no. 2, losing by 2 TOs. And that is without my round 1 Ibaka. Didn’t do too well in Razzball leagues, but managed to get into playoffs and finish no. 5.

@DK: Awesome, thanks so much man! Yeah we had a pretty good year with our ranks 🙂 A few misses as always, but really happy we helped more than we hurt!

Playoffs in the RCL is still pretty good! I missed em with my Durant team, sheesh haha.

Thanks for stopping by all through the year man, look forward to next year!

@JB Gilpin: Hey from no. 12, 12, 9, 9 to no.2 in 2014-2015 all because I follow your top 100 ranks! You are a godsend! I am really happy with the results. Hopefully you have another magic player like Draymond next year that can do magic from ADP100 to 20!

Durant man Durant. If he was back I could have gone much further. Sigh …

Btw, would you continue to post during off season? Or is it break time?

@DK: Hah, thanks man! Let’s hope the ranks come out good again for next year!

For sure, we’ve got a ton of stuff still on the short-term radar like rankings reviews, I do a top 50 for the next year really early, and then indeed will continue to post here and there until the NBA Draft. Then we’ll be picking it back up at a decent pace.

Looking forward to seein ya through the summer!

Looking forward to reading your baseball stuff! Good luck!

  5. Kris says:
    (link)

    Hey JB,

Couldn’t make it to the finals without you guys. This is it. The last push. (And I mean, finals in a 20-team-league)

    Here’s my current line-up:

    Rodney Stuckey
    Giannis
    Kawhi
    Draymond Green
    Mason Plumlee
    Brandan Wright
    Marcin Gortat
    Elfrid Payton
    Aaron Brooks
    Paul Millsap
    MCW
    Chase Biudinger

I had made changes over the last 2 months. Well, you just have to. But now, I really want to win that GOLD. Though, there are problems with my team right now. Rodney’s Wrist, Millsap’s shoulder, and maybe some playing time. I need you help guys to grab the gold by the end of the week. Any suggestions?

    • Kris says:
      (link)

      @Kris:

Btw, I already dropped Stuckey for C.J. McCollum. Portand has 4 games this week and it’s the last week in our league. The Pacers has three and PG is back. I guess I just have to ride on this one.

      • Kris says:
        (link)

        @Kris:

And should I drop Millsap now for Muscala? 🙂

        • Kris says:
          (link)

          @Kris:

Or Mason Plumlee for Jusuf Nurkic? Haha! Sorry for the reply to self, mates!

          • JB Gilpin

            JB Gilpin says:
            (link)

@Kris: Awesome man, nice work! Finals in a 20 teamer is def quite a feat, only could make it to the semis in our 20 tm dynasty.

Geez, that’s a contending 12er team! So this final week is only 7 days? Or is it the 10 day week that goes until the last night next Wednesday? If it’s only 7 days, def losing Millsap. For MUscala would be a solid add there. 10 days left it’s much closer.

Love the McCollum add. I think I’d rather go upside of Nurk over Plumlee to end the year. Nurk might be let loose, Plumlee I don’t see it.

Hope that helps man, good luck in the finals!

              (link)

              @JB Gilpin:

Finals is still Wednesday? Should I drop Millsap from my line up?

              Thanks, man!

                @Kris:

This is what I hate about the playoffs! HAHA! It’s close man… But if and IF and I mean IF! Millsap will sit. HOLY MOLY! I’m doomed for gold. LOL!

Well guys, I took it home! The big 5-4 win! And by big, I mean 700 points, 60 3’s, 200 dimes, 70 steals, and a sparkling 80% ft! Huge week, and wouldnt of been able to have a year like this without your drafting help!

I’ll still be around for the rest of the year, so don’t you worry about having readers! I’m here for the laughs!

      JB Gilpin says:

@Wutang: Awesome work man! Hah, we will take credit for maybe 6 points and 2 3PTM, all the rest of that is you!

Glad to hear man! We have some slightly different stuff, then lots of wrap ups with the ranks and some early 15-16 ranks, so we’ll have some good stuff up!

  7. Phranque (pronounced Frank) says:
    (link)

    Hi J.B.
Phew! Although only losing 2 weekly contests this season, I BARELY crawled into the Finals. Watson and Whiteside not playing on Sunday and T. JONES pulling a Ferdinand da BULL (no, not one from CHI Town)…wanting to lolligag rather than score and rebound damn near cost me my RAZZBALL guided spot into the Finals. So…I need some input from my hoops guhrus at RAZZBALL…or a shamrock…or parayer beads.

    1) What’s with WHITESIDE and T. JONES? Trustworthy for the next 1 1/2 weeks?

    2) If not, please rank and advise re: Justin HAMILTON, B.WRIGHT, BIYOMBO or (really?) Marv WILLIAMS.

    3) I’ve got ISH ( only 4 games ’till finish line) and assume WATSON needs replacing…please rank and advise between SCHRODER (shroeder), LA VINE (6 games each) or LARKIN (5 gms).

    4) Finally, Is Ryan ANDERSON worthy of a pickup?

Thanks for the insights during the season….you grew my BBall Brain Bubbles!

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Phranque (pronounced Frank): Ugh, yeah the Whiteside no show def hurt haha. Nice work though man!

1 – Whiteside, yeah I think he will be. Sounds like he was really close to playing and I think ends the year playing every game barring another injury. TJones, ehhhh, kinda worried about minutes. Motiejunas might return too.

2 – Hmmm, Hamilton and Wright both intrigue me. Is it a weekly league or can you make daily moves? If daily moves, I’ll hold Tjones and see, if you have to lock in a weekly guy I think I like Wright the best.

3 – Yup Watson can go. Damnnnnn that’s a close one. I’ll lean LaVine.

4 – Unless 3s are really bad for you, nah I like most of the names we’ve mentioned earlier more.

      Good luck man!

Lineup help this week, which includes all remaining reg season games. H2H pts, big bonus for dbl-dbls and peripheral stats weighted quite a bit more than pts and %s.

    1) With Jefferson likely down, would you go with 6 games of Biyombo over 5 of either Zaza or Valanciunas?
    2) My F situation is a mess. Need to start 3 out of Mirotic (5G), Bass (5G), T. Black (6G) and A. Gordon (5G). Who’s the sit?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Steve Stevenson: Gotcha, 1 – eeeesh I’m having trouble picking… Man Zaza has been bad lately. Valanciunas on a good run. Gimme JVal! 2 – I don’t trust Gordon yet, I like him a lot as a player, but I think hes the one out

    Hi Razzball!

Should I drop Millsap? Our games go until the 15th, so this a risky move.

If I do drop him, I’m looking at adding a player from either GS or MIA for sked purposes. Chalmers, James Ennis, H. Barnes, or Barbosa? Those are my sucky choices, haha. Every category is still up in the air right now.

    Thanks!
