Man, there could not have been a more epic high or more epic low last night comparing our elite facial hair aficionados!  Well of course, #1 is Grey, he looks like the worst player at the Saturday afternoon Y pickup game, then goes for 40/15/15 every time!

The tanking Nugs got absolutely bludgeoned by The Beard last night, with James Harden going 50/10/4/1/0 on 12-27 FG (4-12 3PTM 22-25 FT).  Lay off the fouls, Denver!  Maybe they were like hippie Rastafarians just enamored with his majestic beard, “Oh I must rub your luscious hair, mon!”  Most surprising amongst the odd stats (like scoring 50 whilst shooting under 50%, on only 12 makes, etc.) is that Harden had never scored 50 before!  And Corey Brewer had!  Hah!

Then to the ugly.  Skipping the bad.  Anthony Davis tweaked his ankle in drills yesterday morning and wasn’t able to play.  That might cause some playoff losses this week!  All I can say is that I couldn’t get Brow in any leagues after my contrarian #1 overall rank, so he hath not scorned me!  Maybe burning all his owners late with this one will help him be a discount for me in 15-16.  So what is it, Brow or Beard first in next year’s drafts?!  With the ridiculous emergence of Rudy Gobert and Hassan Whiteside, kinda leaning getting one of those bigs later if given the choice and it’s tipping towards Harden.  7 dimes a game!  Plus scoring 50 every night!  Here’s what else went down last night in fantasy basketball action:

Terrence Jones – No one is safe!  The injury wave is higher than that Perfect Storm one as Jones hurt his ribs and had to go to the hospital, reportedly in a stretcher.  Eesh.  Luckily it sounds like Jones missed a serious injury, but McHale said it would still be a little while.  Bye week teams can wait it out until the weekend, but I think cutting him in tight week 1 H2H macthups is a must.  PS – another injury on our weekly locked F&F team…

Donatas MotiejunasDwight Howard is looming with his return in a week, but even so it’ll be in 22-25 minute games and sitting back-to-backs.  And now with TJones taking a ribber, Motiejunas should be a safe hold if he’s been helping out your squad.  7/9/4/3/0 last night, only hit 3-10 FG, but the minutes are all but assured.

Wilson Chandler Geez, glad this game had some offense!  Everything else was brutal last night!  23/6/2/3/1 hitting 10-17, and he’s been very vocal about the Nugs benching guys in apparent tank mode.  The Kuato in his neck is like, “Quaid, don’t start the reactor with DNPs on back-to-backs!”

Randy Foye – Beastly last night for 23/2/6/1/0 with no TO hitting 5 treys.  Can’t expect Harden to play D when dropping 50!  Nice one for Foye who is certainly high up on the possible DNP list tonight, which would make Will Barton a great stream play.

Zach LaVine Proof the rawest of players can look solid against the Poppycockers!  20/7/4/1/1 hitting 7-13 FG and 2 of his 5-5 FT iced it in OT.  Such a good reach pick by the Wolves.

Justin Hamilton – Are all these friggin’ DNPs giving you a headache?!  After getting taken off the injury report, Hamilton experienced another bout of migraines and they might take this extra cautiously.  Ugh.  Moving on from him now.

Gorgui Dieng Choo choo!  The Dieng Train is pulling into Penn Street Station!  19/11/1/2/6 in 48 minutes of 9-10 shooting.  Only 1-4 FT, and I heard Flip at one point say, “Just dunk it from there!”  He’s been on a fantastic blocks outburst with 16 the past 5 games.

Alexey Shved – Missed all his treys, but the caviar is a staple for fantasy lineups!  21/5/6/1/1 hitting all 6 FT and I’ve been saying for a week he’s a must-own.

Langston Galloway Back-to-back nice ones from The Harlem Renaissance! 21/7/3/2/0 with 3 treys, but I’m still not convinced he can be a Boy Scout.  Not trustworthy.

Brandan Wright – The swat party is in Phoenix!  At least the Suns played some D, because certainly had no O scoring 74!  16/8/0/0/7 and eschewed his inner Alex Len last night.  Well, better than Len!  8-10 FG and should get a boatload of minutes until Len is healed from the kankle.

Marcus Morris Also reaping the rewards of injuries, getting 40 minutes despite shooting 1-11 FG and 0-2 FT.  Is that goal regulation size or what?!  The 14 boards and 4 dimes help, but wowzer.

Omer Asik Really the main post player the Pels needed to go ham with Brow going down, Asik only got through 18 minutes before suffering a calf strain and leaving early.  Yikes.  Was still 6/14, but on his way to 30 boards!  The Turk needs more from his calf to go ham!  His leg is an Animal Farm.  Get Napoleon!

Alexis Ajinca L’croissant!  Should be your main baker of the big man bread if Asik and Brow are both out tonight at the Warriors.  Geez, the line in that game should be like 40 points!  10/7/4/0/1 last night, but another 2 TO and giveaways remain an issue.

Rudy Gobert Well, it didn’t go as good for this Frenchman!  Monsieur Elbow for 3/7/0/1/3 making his only shot.  Hey, when it’s against the Lakers and the rest of the Jazz can make all their own shots, you don’t need any Gobert alleys!

Rodney Hood Eek.  I warned he wasn’t the huge ThrAGNOF he was appearing, and didn’t hit a FG last night.  No treys the past two games shooting a combined 4-15.

Jordan Clarkson Ya know, it’s shocking (well, maybe not that much, it is the Lakers after all) that a 2nd round rookie PG that seemed all sorts of raw early in the year is the only Laker you can depend on night to night.  8/5/8 in 30 minutes against that Jazz elite D.

Streamers/Cheap Daily League Picks:

Tyler Zeller (24% owned) – I know, I know, I always pick a big vs. the Spurs, but it usually seems to work!  Kelly Olynyk is owned in more leagues and is more perimeter based, so gimme Zeller who has been mad hot the past 3 games hitting 25-33 FG for 56 points.

Greivis Vasquez (11% owned) – I’m surprised he only hopped up one percent in ownership since Wednesday night, as Kyle Lowry said he’s 50-50 to play tonight and the Raps have previously rested him just for rest’s sake.  When asked why I’m napping at my desk at work, I just say “I’m doing it for rest’s sake!”

I hope everyone has a lead heading into the weekend of their H2H matchups, and nice work through one day of the Tourney, Leebo!  14 points is leading our Razzball bracket.  Dude, my UAB upset had me ahead of all my pools for like an hour!  It should’ve ended there!

Good write up JB! I’ve got a write up of my own for ya 😉

These injuries/dnp’s are killin me bro. I’m in a tight 9 cat h2h playoff match (March 16-29). Was forced to drop Rubio and now Brow’s hurt smh. Guy I’m playin has a very similar team to mine stats wise… Only cat he’s really dominate over me in is FG% and assists. Right now our stats are almost identical, but we still have a week and a half left and he’s at full strength.

Would like you’re opinion on my team, who’s dropable, who I should hold, what spots I should stream, who to pick up? Every cat is competitive as of now. THANKS!

    My team…

    Guards:
    Olidipo
    MCW
    Batum
    Smart (just picked up/dropped Rubio)

    Forward/Center:
    Brow
    Al Jefferson
    Dirk
    G. Dieng
    Ariza
    Faried
    B. Lopez
    D. Carrol
Thad Young (I feel like he maybe dropable, getting low minutes)
    Carrol (just picked up)

    WW Guys:
    Rubio (lol)
    I. Thomas
    P. Pierce
    Taj Gibson
    J. Jack
    Hamilton
    J. Holiday
    Ilyasova
    Morrow

      @Guile: Hah, all good! 🙂

I usually wouldn’t drop Rubio, but yeah doesn’t sound like he’s gonna help you, plus all those friggin DNPs… Looking like you’re more or less healthy other than Brow though! I don’t think I’m making any moves yet, agree Thad is droppable if you need to stream a stat later in the matchup, and I like IT2 when healthy obviously, but sounds like it’s still a while and can’t afford a stash. I’m stayion the course and owning those big man stats!

      • Guile says:
        (link)

        @JB Gilpin:

Thanks for the reply JB! So you’d hold onto Smart/Carrol? Instead of playin the WW?

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Guile: Yup I would, I’m not huge on Smart, but he helps your needs and Carroll, as long as he plays most of his games, should be solid for ya

  2. Dante Green says:

JB look at what these fools had fckung done to my team so far:

    Horford: 4/18
    RJax: 4/17
    Wiggins: 4/17
    Bledsoe: 2/15

My team’s fg’s just under .400!! Mann they killed my fg like wtf!!

    • JB Gilpin

@Dante Green: Haha yeah Bledsoe last night… Ugh… At least Wiggy hit some FT!

Thanks for the great write ups JB!

UGH! This is ridiculous already… I finish the season 1st. In my points league and was looking forward for a strong finish but, I have Been waiting for KD…, I lost Ibaka, I. Thomas, Klay Thompson, and now T Jones…. And Just got Kemba Walker back, but still pretty rusty…
    so freaking FRUSTRATING!!!!!!
So, my season is pretty much done… Thanks for such awesome everyday updates JB! Made me enjoy FB a whole lot more…. Hopefully next season goes better for me.

    Hey JB,

Looking to pick up DoMo, but not sure if it’s worth dropping (a) Bargnani (b) Adams or (c) RoLo. Thoughts?

    Thanks!

    • AC says:
      (link)

@AC: Brandan Wright is also still out there. How does he stack up against these guys?

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@AC: Whewwwwww, def all very very close. A guy like Wright vs. Bargnani comes to needs. Reb/Blk vs Pts. I think right now for the next few I’d rather Wright over Adams. Wright should be a beast with no Len. Dmo vs. Rolo. I actually don’t mind that one, I think in most cases I’d make that swap. Any time!

  5. Frank White says:
    (link)

Who do you like for treys, boards and points for tomorrow night, Anthony Tolliver or CJ Miles? Miles I consistent past 4 games and Tolliver Has Monroe out but I have to be 100% sure he’s out

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:

@Frank White: Yeah I’m goin Miles, but Monroe is prob indeed out

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Scott: Depends on who you’re dropping, but I imagine in a lot of leagues I like other options. I think he’ll be on minutes limit and Mirotic will be playing a lot still

  7. dom says:
    (link)

    hey JB fun write up

my roto season is ending in dramatic fashion. last night I slipped to second in points thanks to Harden so I slipped to tied for first overall. I could make up that point either by retaking the points category (9 behind) or 3ptm (5 behind), so my lineups are looking to maximize those two categories..

Tonight I’m streaming Avery Bradley and Aaron Brooks. Randy Foye played well for me last night but you think he’s a DNP candidate?

For tomorrow, I think I’m going to drop Harlem Renaissance for CJ Miles. KCP is also available. I could play both of them if Brandon Knight is still hurt or if I sit Monteijunas or Drummond. D-Mo is a hold you said? I feel like he doesn’t get enough shots in that offense.

I know that’s kind of a lot but I’d much appreciate your opinion. Thanks!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@dom: Thanks for reading man! Yeah I do on Foye, Nugs playing a back-to-back, they’ve rested him before, took it real cautious after his early season injury. Def concerned. With Jones now hurt as well, I think it helps DMo. So yeah I would try to hold, I think you get some out of position 3s with some pts from him. Hope that helps!

  8. Nikko says:
    (link)

Hey JB. Quick question. In my H2H points league, I’ve got a full roster playing but im stuck on who to start. It’s between Kemba and Bass. Pre-injury, Kemba 100%, but he’s been struggling. Averaging 7 points over 15 days and bass w/ 17 points over 30 days. What do you think?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Nikko: Great one… I think with Olynyk coming along, it scares me with Bass that olynyk could start getting 25-30 mins. I’d go Kemba

  9. Ryan says:
    (link)

Can we expect any decent streamers from the Minnesota Injurewolves next week? Hamilton and Lavine are available. Someone also dropped Bargnani. ugh I know he’s awful, but he’s still playing well right?

Do any of the names above seem like better plays for next week than say, Matt Barnes or Galloway?

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Ryan: Haha well done, Injurewolves. LaVine in non-Rubio games. Tough to trust Hamilton but if we know he’s playing I’m interested. Wow I wrote that before reading your next sentence, I’m dumb! Tough to trust either for full weeks of good value though.

Yeah Bargs is good for points, but if FG%/Reb are needs like a typical big man, I’d avoid.

Bargs I think I would take over Barnes. But probably rolling Galloway out before the Injuredwolevs guys

  10. Mari says:
    (link)

    Hey JB,

I’m not sure what my team’s weaknesses are. I’m in second place in this particular league…
But of these 4 players–Deng, D West, Beal and Ersan–would you drop any to make room for Shved?

Also, in another league, where my team is winning despite having Knight and Rubio, I don’t know what to do with TJones, I have him, too. WW is dry.. all I see is Gibson and Olynyk. If I can sneak by this week with the 3 injuries, should I hold onto Jones?

    Thanks JB!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Mari: Def def getting Shved. Losing… I think Ersan. I might toe the line and give ti a couple days, but not looking great for Jones. Leaning grabbing Olynyk especially if he plays well next time out

    • Mari says:
      (link)

@Mari: I think I’m going to keep Ersan,.. dude’s been playing well.. really helping me with 3’s.. I think I’m dropping West…

And, yeah, TJones situation does not look good… collapsed lung.

    • Mari says:
      (link)

      @Mari: or maybe Deng

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Mari: True yeah West has been bad too. With 3s a need, def agree losing West over Ersan. Assuming Deng is helping your treys I’d prob hold him if you could

  11. Cale says:
    (link)

Ugh. Durant. Guess holding him all year wasn’t worth it. Have to drop him now in the playoffs.

    • Bye Felicia says:
      (link)

@Cale: Im right there with you in 4 leagues dude. It sucks. This season was like pitchers going to Dr Andrews for Tommy john. Too many injuries for the stretch run

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Cale: @Bye Felicia: Brutal brutal finish. Traded him to Slim in our RCL for the playoff push and Slim got the worst end

  12. Bye Felicia says:

Finally can we get the CUT DURANT!!! Chant started!

This season was a disaster for me. Losing him, Serge, Butler, I dropped Batum pre asb. Ugh G Leeeeeee

      @Bye Felicia: CUT DUR-ANT! CUT DUR-ANT!

  13. kisses says:
    (link)

*insert sob story of drafting and holding Durant in hopes of him being the sneaky pick of the century*

Just cut Durant for IT (2..3..?). This is what I’m working with right now in a H2H 10 cats (fg%, ft%, 3pm, reb, ast, stl, blk, to, dd, pts):

PG – Westbrook, Curry, MCW, Kemba (and IT 2/3 on IR)
SG/SF – Hayward, Middleton (and Klay on IR)
PF/C – LaMarcus, Pau, Whiteside, Favors, BWright

I’m currently tied in the first round of the playoffs, losing bad in fg% and steals, and about to take over in assists and blocks (i punt to’s and have all year). We also play for two weeks at a time.

I have a full roster tonight, but are there any moves you like to make for the weekend?
    Burke (Sat @GS)
    KCP (Sat @Chi, Sun @Bos)
    Boozer (Sun @Phi)
    Galloway (Sun @Tor)
    Smart (Sun @Det)
    Foye (Sun @Orl)

Should I also look to pickup and hold DRose instead of making moves this weekend? Or do you think I can get away with waiting until Sunday to grab him? Worth it?

    Thanks!

    • Bye Felicia says:
      (link)

@kisses: Id take KCP for the 2 gms over all those guys you listed

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@kisses: IT2/3! Because we just don’t know and he’s 2/3 the size of an NBA player. Patent pending.

Yeah I like KCP for the two games to help steals. FG% might be done. I like Wright for one more tonight, but I’m good moving to KCP for the weekend. And nah, I’ll let Rose sit there to be someone else’s headache haha

@JB Gilpin: and you know I’ll manage the team for the entire season. Im playing in the last RCL this year. I finished in 2nd place with a 1st rd bye. The guy that started the league messed up the setting and drafted at 10 teams instead of 12 though! I’ve never bailed on a team because I hate whenever someone else does!

@TheMuppetManiac: I think I’m leaning Ish for the Assists, but if you need decent production and TO are a concern I might go to Langston

  18. Shaft says:
    (link)

JB- if I somehow pull this week out, which isn’t too likely, would you make these moves:

    1) drop Mo Will for Ish
    2) drop Covington for Carroll
    3) drop Deron Williams for Corey brewer
    4) drop Durant for Ilyasova

other guys on the wire are Crowder, Jack, clarkson, wes Johnson, MKG, dunleavy

    thanks man!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Shaft: Yo dude, you can do it!

      1) nah stickin with Mo
      2) Yup!
      3) Nahhhhh
      4) Definitely, I would do that now. If you can make a move before the end of the week, Durant needs to go. Agree Ily is prob your best target unless you need G stats then would nab Clarkson

      Any time!

  19. Mike says:
    (link)

Who would you prioritize as a waiver pickup? I am considering dropping Alex Len for Nurkic (waiver 3/22) or Robin Lopez (3/23).

    Thanks man!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Mike: I’m sadly and shockingly going Rolo. I know he’s been bad lately, but good FT% and should get a few more blocks than lately. ANy time!

  20. Nikko says:
    (link)

Is Mo still worth owning in a 10 man points? I have Kemba and mo has been slow. I could pick up Marcus Morris, Motijunas, morrow, brooks and a few other guys who are waiver-ish. What do you think? It’s playoffs right now.

@Nikko: ish is also on the waivers

@Nikko: Yeah sorry for the delay but seeing Mo off the bench is no bueno. He’s out. Leaning Motie for the 4 games, Brooks and Ish kinda close, but Brooks at 3 games and Ish with Sixers inconistencies with minutes have me going Motie

        • Nikko says:

      JB Gilpin says:

    Hello Slim,

I feel confident that I will win my first round. As for the 2nd round, I am looking to add Isiah Thomas, of the listed played on my team, who would you drop for him? Or would not add Isiah Thomas at all?

@John W: Hey man! I’m not Slim but I think your two Suns are the most droppable. Looks like you’re an absolute monster on the boards, so Tucker’s help there isn’t changing much. Totally good losing him for Isaiah Thomas. Thanks for stopping by!

So KD is droppable everywhere now right? Need a KD replacement:
Cole Aldrich, Jae Crowder, Matt Barnes, Foye, Pat Pat, Brooks, Steven Adams, Avery Bradley, H. Barnes, Schroder.

    My team:
Rondo, Dragic, Mo Will, Ish Smith, Ariza, Draymond, Millsap, Favors, Whiteside, KD

    Thanks!

@Larry: Yup. Pretty well rounded team, with FT% probably a loss most of the time. Gimme Adams in a vacuum. Any time!

@Clos: It sucks, but I’m letting Covington go. Mnutes and numbers falling off. Nah not grabbing LaVine unless the Wolves suddenly announce Rubio is out for the year which I doubt they’d do

I’m in a weekly leauge. I have both rubio and knight…who should I play, if at all? rubio has a game monday and knight has one wed.

@hanns: Eesh. Both so risky. I think Knight is gonna play Wednesday, so leaning rather him over Rubio, but even 60-70% as good of an option I’d play over them.
