Well, there won’t be too many rainbows though!

Coming into the season, I thought it would be really hard for Devin Booker to do much this year. Then both Suns combo guards go down, and Booker took off, playing some really solid ball in his first full month as the starting 2, scoring 17 PPG on 45% from the field. But February was unkind, as the grind caught up to him and the FG% fell to 33.6% and the scoring down to 13.5. He has been able to maintain a great FT volume though even in cold stretches, so he doesn’t completely turn into a dirty pirate Booker. Last night against the Heat he found his stroke again, breaking out of his ice cold slump and hitting 11-21 from the field (3-7 3PTM), along with 9-9 freebies, for 34/3/4.  LeVar Burton ain’t got nothin’ on me!  I could see a lot of owners dumping him in this cold stretch, so it might be worth double-checking on his availability in shallowers.  Long-term, it kinda sounds like the Suns have soured on Brandon Knight a little, so I could see them moving his contract this offseason, especially with caps expanding and teams more able to adsorb the $.  If that happens, I could see the Suns starting Booker but making him overrated on draft day.  I like the kid’s game for how raw he came into the league, but the AST have been sporadic at best and he doesn’t get steals.  If not for a little FT volume he’d be a pretty clear-cut ThrAGNOF.  Don’t overpay!  And let’s get my boyfriend Knight a better job…  Here’s what else went down last night in fantasy hoops action:

Tyson Chandler You big Tyson Chicken you!  6/3 and nada.  Welcome to the drop zone!

Alex Len He’s sooooo much better.  12/13/1/0/1.  40 minutes too, compared to 19 for the Big Chicken.

Joe Johnson – Ohhhhhhh, maybe sommemmmmememeeebody got this one right!  Paltry 8/3/2/0/0 in 31 minutes.  I think he’ll usually be a little better than THAT, but averaging out his Heats numbers thus far is now ho-hum.  Which isn’t a 12er must-hold to me.

Goran Dragic Really improving since his calf strain, with a nice 25/7/4/1/0 line hitting 10-18 FG with 3 treys.   Just needed a matchup against the Suns scrubs to whip out his dragon again.

Anthony Davis With Tim Duncan on him, the Pels only fed him for 12 shots?!  17/13/1/2/2 on 7-12 shooting, which is yet another travesty in coaching and management for the worst NBA franchise.

LaMarcus Aldridge Finally fitting into his niche, for a nice 26/8/1/0/1 line on 11-19 shooting.  his numbers haven’t had a dramatic pre/post All-Star split, but it has taken off since February, and his numbers by month keep improving.  I could see his boring start deflating some draft value next year.

Kawhi Leonard 30 Pts last night which was awesome for me, but even awesomer for Paul on the 30-pt Challenge Board!  I didn’t think the Pels would hang in the game like that…  Then again, it was on the road, the only place the Spurs can lose…

Dallas Mavericks – Lost to the Kings?!?!?!?!  At home?!??!?!?!  What is going on out here?!?!?!?!  Who is to blame?!?!?!?!?!  Well, probably Wesley Matthews and his 2-9 FG for 4 Pts.  Way to just tank on my No Halftime selection, Wes.  That contract could end up being an Achilles heel for Dallas…

David Lee – 12/11/1/1/1 in only 18 minutes.  6-9 FG too.  I can’t believe I’m arguing for MORE playing time for Lee, but looks like he shoulda gotten more run in this one!

Rudy Gay With the trade deadline passing in a lot of leagues, it’ll be tough to get Gay on the cheap, but his 9/7/1/2/0 line of meh last night seems like a good buy low.

Stephen Curry To the game of the night, Curry remains a deity.  33/4/4/1/1, “only” 5-15 from deep, but only 1 TO as well.  Warriors are unstoppable.

Kevin Durant Quaddub flirt!  32/10/9/9  Ah, always fun to make the TO joke…  32/10/9 with 9 TO, but dide hit 11-17 FG and 10-11 FT.

Sorry for the shorter update this morning, epic exhaustion of my pitcher ranks took all my time!  I need a breather, coach!  I need a water break!  If you’re gearing up for fantasy baseball, check out my Top 100 SP, and good luck in your matchups this weekend, Razzball Nation!

Steph does it all! How can my team be doing so badly with him? Oh yeah, Blake Griffin was my second pick. Gah!

      (link)

@Scott: Ah damn that sucks! I have a Steph team that is only 4th in a 12er due to some injuries, they’re bringing him down!

Who would you rather own at the moment? Portis or Lee? Just looking for most production and best situation. Thanks!

    • JB Gilpin

@Runfast: eesh, scary that it’s so close, I’ll still lean Portis, but barely

Dirty pirate booker! If it’s ok, I may need to have that be my team name next season! I’ll throw the credit your way.

How would you rank that following for the playoffs: Otto, KCP, MCW, bazemore?

    Thanks!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@miles proudfoot: Hahahaha sure thing man! That almost was the title, but decided to be a little more classy 🙂

Um, I’ll go KCP, Otto, Bazemore, MCW. MCW is realllllly losing AST, and if not for this weird blocks binge lately, would be crushing people. Any time!

      • Slim

        Slim says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: I think I’m putting Bazemore over Porter. I like Otto but with Beal back and Markieff taking shots, Dudley still in the rotation, Otto is a bit tough to trust night in and night out anymore.

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@miles proudfoot: @Slim: Bazemore has been a little better, but after being that cold for a while, how is Bazemore any easier to trust?

Love that my boy David Lee is getting some run in Dallas. That was the perfect place for him to end up because that organization is very veteran-friendly. Honestly don’t know why he was palced in the doghouse in Boston. He was solid (on offense at least) with my Dubs, but then he simply got Draymond’d. Then Boston gave him almost no playing time. Jonas Jerebko is better? Really? lol Anyways, just glad to see Lee getting some PT. He is an inspiration to all guys who don’t look athletic, but can actually ball a bit.

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@JashFath: Yeah it was a good landing spot, arguably THE best. Hah Amir Johnson isn’t far superior to you too?! I’m kidding… Yeah a little surprised too, i wonder if he whined about PT and fell outta favor. Wow, you described me in pickup games! I wear rec specs. It’s awesome. But i can ball a little!

    Hey JB!

quick question. Who would you rather have ROS…. Lavine or D. Collison? seem to need 3s, assist, and steals. Collison seems safer but Lavine could possibly get more playing time down the stretch? Thanks!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@dan the man: Yo! I would go LaVine. Agree with your analysis, a tad more upside play for LaVine but at least the mins are consistent

  6. Dante Green says:
    (link)

I’d rather have Knight than Bled, only bcoz the latter’s knees have become a bit concerning…

The Suns need to quit that 2-fucking-PG-system already. But first, Sarver needs to sell the team and Ryan McDumb needs to go!!!! Stupid moves after stupid moves these past few years. Sold draft picks to other teams, horrible signings, traded an allstar. Jeez. Missing my old Suns…

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Dante Green: Interesting, I just think Bledsoe is better overall. Knight has had injury things now a lot too… Hah yeah they need to completely rebuild… Uh oh, let’s hope they don’t turn into the Sixers of the west!

  7. Michael says:

question I need to drop a player in a 9 cat roto 12 teams

Jermai grant , lance Stephenson or aaron affalo

I don’t know why I feel lance might finish off quite strong. don’t know if my instincts are correct
    my team is as follow
pg- chris paul, damian lillard, elfred payton, Darren collison
sg-sf – jimmy butler, Giannis antetekumpo, evan Fournier, Robert Covington, danilor gallarni, lance Stephenson, jermai grand, aaron affalo, eric Gordon,
pf-c- nerlens noel, andrew bogut, david lee, jared sullinger

I am quite loaded on the wing and there is no point of dropping gallo as he is on IL for me, but butler is coming off the IL so I need to drop a player

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Michael: Meh yeah I’ve just never been a big Lance guy. He’s the cut for me.

  8. sliimbo says:
    (link)

    Hey bud

what side do you like in a keeper

    griffin/Tobias Harris or alphabet?

    • Michael says:
      (link)

buddy, for me I will take the alphabet as that is what I am doing right now too. His ceiling is just ridiculous. He reminds of a more loaded Lamar Odom that will help you on all categories.

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@sliimbo: @Michael: Yo! Ummm, well if you’re going for it this year, I could see going Alphabet, but not like Blake Griffin just died or anything. Long term it’s def the Blake side for me, he and alphabet will prob be ranked pretty close next 5 years, then you get Tobias on top of it (this is assuming you keep at least 10+ though, and Tobias makes your keepers every year)

        • Slim

          Slim says:
          (link)

@JB Gilpin: Yeah I’ll take the Blake/Tobias (also very young) assuming you can keep both. If only like 3 keepers in a shallow 10er. OK, I could go with Giannis then.

  9. Kendrick Twerkins says:
    (link)

Fournier of Smart ROS? 9 cat pls and ty

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Kendrick Twerkins: Hah I think I’ll take Smart, but it’s close. If anything, I can avoid SKIIIIIIILES! Plus fournier’s wrist is still a little scary, I know he’s back though

      • Kendrick Twerkins says:
        (link)

@JB Gilpin: I had to drop smart for Fournier after last night. Now after d Lee’s hot start in Dallas and otto porter slumping would you make that swap? Or should I drop Fournier for him? And what gives with myles turner?

        • JB Gilpin

          JB Gilpin says:
          (link)

@Kendrick Twerkins: Wow… Ya know I prob would take Lee if a big was a need. To be fair to Smart, he did have foul trouble. I’d prob rank em Smart/Fournier/Lee/Porter. Ummm, well he got benched for a matchup issue against the Hornets. I think he’ll bounce back, a little rookie bump prob

  10. Jerry says:
    (link)

Hey, JB! Fournier, Payton or Gary Harris for ros? I’m in a head to head points league. Thanks and enjoy the weekend!

    • Slim

      Slim says:
      (link)

@Jerry: I must answer with “Gary Harris”. Good thing he was a part of the question… But no, I think I have to go with Elfrid here. The 10ish assists have to be worth quite a bit more than Harris’ points and a couple of steals.

  11. Jerry says:
    (link)

    Thanks, Slim!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Jerry: @Slim: @Jerry: Yeah Elfrid retaking the minutes has helped, he’s mine too. Harris is a little better in cats than H2H with his nice %s for being a 3pt shooter and low TO

  12. Rocky says:
    (link)

    JB,

Just got done your pitcher rankings… Great stuff, I also am high on Stroman this year. His ceiling is ridiculously high. But I digress to basketball…

Saw you touched on it a bit earlier, but is Otto officially now cuttable? He had some foul trouble tonight but only largely invisible 19 minutes, Alan Anderson again played more, Beal goes down (again) and Garrett Temple ends up with 26 minutes in his stead. Getting frustrated. Chalmers is out there on my wire, played good minutes next to Conley the other night and seems to have a role at least until Tony Allen comes back. Mirotic and Markel Brown are also on my wire…

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Rocky: Thanks man! Yup I like the ceiling at his price too.

Ummm, yeah cuttable for sure, which is different than “must-cut” or “unownable” but if someone good is out there. Yeah Chamlers while hot, I like that. Prob not touching Brown. If you were cruising at a 1 or 2 seed, I could see Mirotic stash but I think that comes along really slow.

  13. Tyler says:
    (link)

Drop Bayless or Darrell Arthur for Meyers Leonard or Alan Anderson, Garrett Temple (Beal injured), Hollis Thompson?

    • Tyler says:
      (link)

@Tyler: Reggie Bullock, Sean Kilpatrick also available

      • JB Gilpin

        JB Gilpin says:
        (link)

@Tyler: Mehhhh I think I’m holding Bayless still. Arthur can prob go. I’d prob stream the hell outta that other spot, I guess I’d go Thompson for now

        • Tyler says:
          (link)

@JB Gilpin: Jamychal available, birdman injurd?

          • JB Gilpin

            JB Gilpin says:
            (link)

@Tyler: Sure! I’d take the upside of JaMychal there over all those mentioned for the arthur spot

            • Tyler says:
              (link)

@JB Gilpin: shumpert also just got became available. Do you believe in Tyronn Lue that they will be using more small ball moving forward?

              • JB Gilpin

                JB Gilpin says:
                (link)

@Tyler: Hmmm, I’m not huge on Shump, but he’s right in that mix there. I think I would hold JaMychal, off a nice game last time out

  14. sliimbo says:
    (link)

think its time to cut otto porter or evan turner in 10 teamers?

stream the hell outta those spots or pickup Chalmers, Bayless, Mayo, Larkin, Sloan, Marcus Morris or Mason Plumlee

    thanks buddy

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@sliimbo: Hahahahahaha, I used “stream the hell outta” above and didn’t even read this comment yet! That’s awesome. Great minds.

Yeah you can stream both, I’m holding Turner still in 1-2 RCLs for the out of position dimes. I’m good rolling with Morris over Porter long term

  15. Larry says:
    (link)

    M. Brown, Bayless, Mills, and Taj Gibson are available, do I drop Smart, Danny Green, Afflalo, or PBev for any of them? Thanks!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Larry: If you need a big, Pbev for Gibson is fine. Bayless v. Afflalo and Pbev are all same range to me too, but I’d prob keep your 2

  16. Jerry says:
    (link)

Hey, JB! Between Bazemore, who was just dropped, Collison, Elfrid Payton and Fournier, who do you think has the best finish to the season? Thanks!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@Jerry: Yo! I think I would take Elfrid, but if AST weren’t a dire need, kinda leaning Bazemore…

  17. hanns says:
    (link)

pick 2 out of 3 and all of them have 3 games this week, will barton, ish smith, and robert covington. Thanks!

    • JB Gilpin

      JB Gilpin says:
      (link)

@hanns: Ummm, I think I’ll lean Ish and Barton, tough call though!
