On Saturday night, Eric Gordon made his season debut in impressive fashion, going for 24 points (5 of 13 FG, 12 of 14 FT), including 2 threes, plus 7 assists and 2 steals. As of early Monday morning, he is only 40% owned in Yahoo! leagues. I know he has been plagued by injuries since joining New Orleans, but I’m hopeful his previous upward trajectory will continue. I would love to see 23.2 pts/2.0 3pt/2.5 rbd/3.1 ast/1.2 stl, and there’s potential for greater assists.
Monta Ellis – On Saturday, he had 14 points (2 threes), 9 assists and 5 steals and on Sunday, he went for 30 points (3 threes), 9 assists and 1 steal (but also a block). Yet, he is still not owned in 10% of leagues. I would find that hard to believe except for the fact some of you tell me you are in 7 team leagues.
Ersan Ilyasova – On 9 of 12 shooting, he concluded the evening with 24 points, including 3 of 4 from downtown, plus 5 boards and 2 assists. He’s been averaging 16 PPG and 7 RPG over the past week.
Larry Sanders – Despite 20 minutes on the floor, he only took 2 shots and finished with 4 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals and a block. It’s his second off night in a row. He’s due for some ups and downs, though.
Tayshaun Prince – Although he missed both three point attempts, he led his team with 20 points. He also threw in a handful of extras (2 rebounds, 2 assists).
Jason Maxiell – If he had a night like last night every night, I night would be happy night to own night him night night: 10/10/3.
Daniel Green – Hit 2 threes but ultimately finished with 8 digits, 1 board, 1 dime, 1 swipe and 2 swats. </all slang recap>
Shawn Marion – On Friday, I told you to sell him. On Sunday, he missed all 4 shots to wrap up his night with 2 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal and 3 blocks. The odds of finishing with more blocks than points is a move from the Greg Stiemsma playbook.
O.J. Mayo – After December 28, it looked like he had refound his groove, but he again missed 4 from behind the arc to finish with 8 points (4-14 total shooting), 1 rebound, 2 assists and 2 steals, thus marking his 5th clunker in 6 games (p.s. – I think the slump is temporary).
Kevin Garnett – He had the ever appreciated double double (and a half) with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists.
John Salmons – Thanks to an impressive .750 shooting percentage, he tallied 23 points to go with 6 rebs and 4 assists. Don’t look now, but this fish has fins, accumulating 4 quality games in the past 6 appearances.
Isaiah Thomas – With nearly 40 minutes, he led the Kings with a monarch-ly 27 points, plus 4 rebounds, 5 assist, a steal and a hearty 3 of 7 from deep.
Paul Millsap – He sat out the 4th quarter, but there is nothing to worry about, he was just a whirlwind of suckage. Ont he night, he had missed 5 of 7 and only earned 3 boards, 2 assists and a block.
Jamaal Tinsley – He dished out an impressive 11 assists to buffer his 8 points, 2 steals and 1 rebounds. Be careful, though, sometimes Tinsley gets stuck in cats’ intestines. Or maybe that’s tinsel.
Alec Burks – Over the past 4 games, he saw a large boost in playing time, but that began to wane last night. Burks has not taken advantage of his opportunity, and unlike Jehovah’s Witnesses, opportunity is not going to knock repeatedly, over and over, regardless of what time it is and if it’s your day off or not. I celebrate holidays and birthdays, take a hike. Err, Burk finished with 2 points, 2 assists and a rebound. He’s only 11-for-30 with 7 assists in that span of time. He’s now dropped down to 15 minutes and will probably dip below 10 again soon.
DeAndre Jordan – He played a solid 30 minutes and finished with 14 points, 6 rebounds, an assist and 3 blocks. He shot 6-8 from the free throw line, which is amazing for him. He’s actually been shooting above .500 from the foul line over the past week, which is also astounding. I’ll have more on the worst free throw shooters tomorrow, as there will be no recap because I will be celebrating the end of the year. See you in 2013.
