I’m back y’all! It’s gonna be a stunted article, as the season started Tuesday, and I’m writing this on Thursday evening to submit, so please, just be happy for this small sample of what’s to come. Think of it as dessert before dinner. Then more… dessert?
Ok: I have been contacted by a few of you out there , already stressing about your squad (you know who you are, don’t look around the class!) It’s been a few games. Please try to “chill”, as the kids are saying these days. Adopt your Macaulay Culkin stance in the Michael Jackson video, as a baaad mutha…
First and foremost, I council patience. Don’t tinker too much with your squad in the first 3 days, nobody has any idea what’s what in the world of fantasy, too small a slice thus far. But since I am contractually obligated to come up with something, consider the following as guys to consider, considering what I just asked you to consider:
BUY:
Giannis Antetokoumpo SG SF
It’s a long shot, but this is the first article, so quit yer eye rolling. It’s the beginning of the season, so you never know, his fantasy owner may have been discouraged that he isn’t starting,(he still could, but nothing is a lock in Buck country) or that he had a very pedestrian start so far, so could make for a buy low opportunity for you, as his athletic gifts are worth a shot offering a later middle round guy for him, no?
Ed Davis PF, C
What do we always preach here at Razzball? Besides don’t trust the Man… With injury comes opportunity, and in this case it’s Julius Randle. Or defensive incompetence, in the case of Carlos Boozer. Whatever reason you feel is more responsible, the end result is clear: more minutes for Eddie D. Davis posted solid numbers last game, 14/9/3/2/2, his second solid performance since the injury, and with Randle done for the season, Ed is a legit add. He flourished enough to be the piece (beyond Jose Calderon’s expiring contract) in the Raps/Grizz trade for Rudy Gay, but then sat on the bench behind Mark Gasol and Zack Randolph, killing his fantasy value. A defence first mentality, who should produce in those sexy rim protection stats. If you had Randle, drop him for Ed stat!
Shane Larkin PG
I get it. You had to take Kevin Durant at 7th pick overall, leaving a number of PGs on the board, then you couldn’t pass on a big with your second pick, and now you have a derth at the point. Larkin is the man for now in Gotham, as Jose Calderon is out for the next few weeks at least, so Shane will be a cheap source for swipes and dimes. Like my wife’s grammy said when meeting me: “Meh, he’s not the worst.”
Garrett Temple PG, SG
Another example of a flier due to injury, Temple got the start, and will continue for a the short term, as Bradley Beal and Glen Rice Jr. are out. He got decent boards for a SG with a line of 6/7/2/1/0 with 2 3pts last game. Just something to consider. It’s early, people, there’s not going to be a ton of guys out there, calm yo Tats!
Mirza Teletovic SF, PF
He’s only 41% owned in yahoo, so there’s a shot you get him for free. But he has looked great thus far, he got 20/6/1/0/2 with 4 3pts, and a shooting a fantastic 8 of 11. He will get burn at both the 3 and the 4, especially with Brook Lopez out for now. He is totally exceeding his ADP, so perhaps use his ADP position in trade negotiations.
Brandon Wright PF, C
If you’re covered in your scoring, you probably have a bit of decrease in shooting percentage. Wright can help you with FG%, boards, steals and blocks, and is only 9% owned in Yahoo. He got 14/3/1/1/2 in 20 minutes last game, and got 6 boards in his first game, so don’t raise your Spockian (or Rockian?) eyebrow at me, Mister!
SELL:
I don’t really feel comfortable telling you to sell anyone 2 games into an 82 game season. It’s like Mom and Dad are fighting, and they asking me to pick a side. Awkward, because it’s clearly Dad. If I have to choose:
Only because he’s injured, out up to 8 weeks. If you’re trading him, don’t settle for anything less than a top 20 player, and because I have to put someone on the sell list. But no other way to put it, it sucks.
Samuel Dalembert C
If you had the misfortune of taking him late for big man stats, he was benched for the entire second half last game against the Cavs. Ugly, I would cut him loose.
That’s all I got, kids, Happy Halloween!
