This week is going to be a weird week for fantasy if you are playing in Yahoo, as for some reason that they only know they decided to merge this and the upcoming week into one. That means week 7 runs from Monday all the way to the 15th of December and will include some team even playing 7 games. It is an obvious mistake as they were trying to handle the NBA Cup games but the next two weeks are the ones with adjusted schedules for the NBA Cup. So in a few weeks’ time there’s going to be no regular games Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday but that is going to count as a full week instead of being one of the merged weeks. Player adds also count as if the double week was one, so your limits are applied to the whole 15 days, making streaming less appealing.
This was my PSA for the week so act accordingly and don’t get disheartened with some losses those weeks, as the fewer games can lead to higher variability and are not an indication of the strength of your fantasy teams.
Regarding last week’s suggestions, I have to admit it was an underwhelming week with all of Alexandre Sarr, Ty Jerome and Moussa Diabate either failing to impress or getting injured. Let’s see how this week goes.
Buy
Dejounte Murray: After playing just 1 game to start the season before fracturing his arm, Dejounte Murray has returned to the Pelicans starting 5 but the results are not very encouraging. 4 losses for the Pelicans with 2 of them being complete blowouts and Murray can’t seem to be able to buy a bucket as he is shooting with 27.3% from the field and 24% from deep. However, if we take a more composed look at his stats we will deduce that even a slight increase of his shooting closer to his career averages can greatly elevate him in value, as the rest of his stats are more than OK. A normal increase to 43% from the field and 31% from deep, which are still well below his career averages will result to a jump in points per game from 13.2 to 18.6 and increase his triples from 1.2 to 1.7. This is the perfect buy low moment for Dejounte so act accordingly.
Jeremy Sochan: Sochan returned from his fractured left thumb in record time and was able to play yesterday against Phoenix with a double double in just 22 minutes. It is a matter of time before he reclaims his positing in the starting five so go grab him immediately from your wire because he will not remain there for long (45% owned).
Payton Pritchard: The Boston Celtics are usually a boring team for fantasy because they rarely produce unexpected fantasy contributors outside of their starting core. This year however has been a different story with Payton Pritchard making his case for the 6th man of the year award, which has only increased in the last weeks. He has been on an absolute heater with 19.2 points, 3.8 triples, 4.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists, good for 24th overall in that span so it is obvious that you can not leave him sitting on the wire, as half of Yahoo leagues are doing currently (50% owned).
Sell
Buddy Hield: Hield was featured in this column to start the season but the reason was his scorching hot start that made me suggest moving him for any top100 talent as I was skeptical if that could last. It predictably did not last and now we are at the point that my suggestion is to flat out drop him if you still have him, as his minutes have plummeted to 20 during the last 2 weeks and his only positive fantasy contribution is his 2.7 triples, which can be easily found from streaming his spot (50% owned).
