Ugh, rebuilding teams are starting to rebuild earlier, which is good for the waiver wire hounds, but sucks for our stars!  I wish teams would avoid the backlash of the shame they get by just shutting guys down like 2/3 of the way through the season.  Suns even did that more-or-less with Tyson Chandler!

Last night we got word Eric Bledsoe wouldn’t be starting, then after the game we got confirmation the Pee-nix Suns are shutting him down for the rest of the season with “knee soreness”.  Here’s Bledsoe’s response.

Hah!  Well fantasy owners’ emojis would be a lot angrier than that!  A few commenters have posted about a Bledsoe shutdown, but I certainly didn’t think it would be this soon…  Redraft leagues you obviously have to cut him; in keepers – at anything beyond about a 3rd round value – you’re holding on.  Which brings us to one of the of big nights from emerging must-adds from Wednesday’s action – Ulis S. Great!  Big night in the start for Tyler Ulis, going 13/1/13/2/1 in 39 minutes in the youthfest against the Kings.  Yeah, he’s pretty much must-own now.  Above Cory Joseph, Malcolm Brogdon, all those iffy PG that are hanging around as your last roster spot or two in 10/12ers.  So be Great, and add Ulis!  Here’s what else went down last night in fantasy basketball action:

Hold up there, Speedy Gonzalez!  Before you keep reading, be sure and fill out your Razzball March Madness Bracket!  Brackets are due by noon and we’re giving out a $50 Amazon Card, create yours this morning if you haven’t yet!

It’s the most.  Wonderful.  Time.  Of the year!  Yeah, some legit winter wonderland going on up north, sheesh you guys must be excited to be snowed in and watch nothing but basketball the next few nights!

With the playoffs abreast, it’s time to start thinking about those payouts and get paid that money!

Hah, I can’t stop laughing at that silly GIF!  Effin hilarious.  And by money, I mean some Amazon gift cards and another YouTube shaming video, but you can’t really put a price on the latter!

With the regular season now in the books, the 2016-17 RCL Master Standings Table table is now locked in place as we play out the postseason.  Despite a hell of a final push from The Doc is In – going 22-5 over the final 3 weeks – Big Baby’s Lovechild secured the #1 spot through the regular season by a mere half point.  What a close race!  But it’s of course anyone’s game, as the top teams still need to secure their league championship to win the overall title.  So check out where your squads stacked up in the master standings, and here’s some highlights across our 23 RCL Leagues:

No, it’s not the title of some campy 1970’s Sci-Fi movie – Zubac really IS the savior of the world!

I don’t need to keep tooting my own horn – if I was a dog I would – but Ivica Zubac continues to impress, and I’m happy to have the big fellah leading the charge in my RCL playoff efforts!  Getting his second consecutive start, the Zubes tore up the Nuggets for a career-high 25 points on a 25/11/1/0/1 line.  Now, now, I know Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets in general have putrid interior defense, but I don’t care!

Post move O face!  Look at how smooth he is!  Well, despite the fact Jokic has no interest in playing defense, I concede that haha…  Zubac is going to promote World Peace (not the Metta kind though!), figure out how everyone is going to get water, and we’ll be building statues of him by the 2050s.  He shot 12-15 from the field, but weirdly only 1-4 FT as that is a little bit of an issue lately, despite profiling as more of an 80% FT shooter…  So don’t let that bugga-ya-boo, I think that’ll improve.  Just let our future defeater of invading aliens and our inventor of light-speed travel take you to the promised land.  Here’s what else went down last night in fantasy basketball action:

The tournament is back, let’s get some-a-dat mad-ness!

It’s the best time of year to hope to get lucky when randomly picking names (like Santa!), and join the 5th annual Razzball Basketball Bracket Pool, which through the power of hyperlinks, can be joined by clicking it right there.  Damn, after finishing 2nd outta 27 in 2015, I got only 13th outta 37 last year.  I’m ready to win it this year, dammit!  My alma mater, UNCW, going all the way!  But goddamn, why we gotta play an ACC team outta the gate again?!  Stupid Virginia…  At least we got a higher seed!

The prize this year is going to be pretty epic!  Yup, if you get a perfect bracket in our pool, I’ll pay you $1 fiftillion dollars!  Hah, I keed of course; while Razzball is da shiznit, I’m not exactly Warren Buffet out here!  We’re going to award the winner a $50 Amazon Gift Card, just for besting us schmohawks in the Razzball Pool.  The pool is private this year since I don’t want any internet trawlers (trawlers?  trollers?), so the password to join is “razzball”.  I know right, tough to crack that code!  I employed a Navajo Windtalker just to make it!  So join in the Madness, make a bracket, vie for the free price, and cheer for those Cinderellas!

Join the pool and set up your bracket today!

REL Basketball1The playoffs are here!  The playoffs are here!  It’s like Christmas morning for H2H leagues!

The final week of the REL season brought some shuffling with the 3-5 seeds, but the playoff teams were pretty much set, and we’re looking at week 1 matchups of #3 seed Yappers vs. #6 seed Mr. Kite and #4 seed Metamucil (why you changing your team name at the end, bro?!) against #5 Slim.  On top of the determination of the playoff seeding, we had a monster week on the waiver wire!  So if you’re in the super deep leagues, check out who was added in our REL for some streaming ideas.  Best of luck to all in the playoffs!

Here’s how week nineteen in the 2016-17 REL went down, and how we’re looking heading into the first week of the playoffs:

Timing.  It’s a bitch.  Losing one of your bedrocks the weekend before the H2H playoffs is the injury gods spitting into our faces and hitting us across the jaw!  No joke, last night I had a dream that DeMarcus Cousins straight cold-cocked Salah Mejri in the face.  Must’ve lingered from a convo I had with Grey last week about how there’s no more NBA fights, and Mejri always seems to wanna mix it up.  Weird how spot on that dream could be!

Anywho, my trip out West certainly didn’t help my focus!  We got some awful news Saturday that LaMarcus Aldridge is going to be out indefinitely with minor heart arrhythmia.  He missed the final 9 games in his rookie year and 10 days in 2011 due to heart-related issues, so if the further testing done today is positive, maybe we could get him back by the semi-finals next week.  For teams scrapping their way in a do-or-die quarterfinals in the playoffs, unless you have an open INJ spot, Aldridge can probably go.  Get well soon, LA!  In the meantime, David Lee (12/6/2 – 18 mins) and Dewayne Dedmon (9/7/0/0/2 – 22 mins) should get a little added run, but those numbers quoted there were in that weird game Saturday night against the Dubs, with Kerr and Pop benching everyone.  I’m sure ABC was THRILLED when they heard GSW was DNPing everyone and the Spurs were going to be without Kawhi Leonard and LA!  I’m not huge on Lee, but I think he’s your biggest benefactor, and could help deeper leagues or be a streamer for those boring Pts/Reb cats.  Hopefully losing LA doesn’t make you a Ded Mon!  Here’s what else went down over the weekend in fantasy basketball action:

We’re back with the specialist of editions of the Razzball Hoops Pod – on location podcasting! Today we air from sunny Florida as JB continues his Spring Training extravaganza, and I catch up with Slim for basketball talk on the road.  Sorry the audio levels are a little wonky, I told Slim I was going to be way louder than he expected with my Podcast voice!  Shun the unbeliever!  When we’re back with our normal set-up next week, we’ll be straightened out…  Anyway, on today’s show we catch up on fringy PG to own, big man injuries, and where we think we’ll draft Derrick Favors next year.  Plus we make our 30-point challenge picks, and as always, wrap our week at the movies.

Oh man, the jet lag is real!  Sorry for the later daily notes again this morning, I’m in sunny Florida but couldn’t get my ass up in the morning!  Still on LA time!  And you could probably say the same for those lousy Chicago Bulls these days, they were sleepwalking in Orlando.  The walking of the Bulls!  Doesn’t have the same ring as running of the Bulls…  But they looked old last night, even on only 1 hour difference, and no one covered Elfrid while owning from the Shelfrid!  20/14/14/2/2 last night, in an epic rainbow tripdub from Elfrid Payton.  As voluptuous as his hair!  He’s been unreal the past week going 16.3/10.0/8.8/1.5/0.8 hitting 66% from the field.  Of course it’s just a hot streak, and in the daily notes I’ve been really apprehensive the minutes/production would go back down, but things be hot hot hot in Orlando!  But one thing that occurred to me is Nikola Vucevic went down 4 games ago, and these last 3 games have been without Vucci Mane and his USG-whoreness down low.  Replace him with Bismack Biyombo down low, and you need a lot more playmaking elsewhere.  So while yet another season of SKIIIIIIIIIILES!!! residue and inconsistency for Elfrid has me hesitant to push for him yet again in 17-18, if they move on from Vuc and keep more-or-less this same core, I’ll be buying right back in and getting him on my Shelfrid on 17-18 teams.  Here’s what else went down last night in fantasy basketball action:

JB be California dreamin’!  Sorry for the later notes today, as I wrap up my West Coast trip and head for sunny Florida tomorrow.  I’m so discombobulated with my jet lag and California culture, I thought the Jamal version of Crawford got traded to the Pelicans or something!  But nooooooo, Jordan Crawford is back in the NBA ladies and germs!

In a game where the Pelicans were unsurprisingly stagnated by the Jazz D, Jordan of the Crawfords kept it close with a bench spark, going 19/1/3/2/0 with 3 treys on 8-15 shooting.  All that in 20 minutes too!  Did the Pelicans expect the ridiculous offensive prowess of E’Twuan Moore and Solomon Hill would provide some bench wing scoring?!  It isn’t shocking that a 28-year-old Crawford was slaying the D-League with nearly 24 points a game, and isn’t surprising to see him be a good bench scorer on the right squad.  Maybe you give him a look in the Michael Beasley/Derrick Williams sort of way as a deep league scorer, but this is likely one of his best lines on the season.  Not like he can gel with the twin tower USG-whores  in the starting 5 – he’s gonna be the bench scorer like we’ve always seen from Jamal Crawford.  Wait, I mean Jordan Crawford!  Ahhhhhhhhhh!  Here’s what else went down last night in NBA action:

REL Basketball1Only one regular season week left to go – one last week to jostle for the playoffs!  And oh man, do we have some sublime drama in the REL!  Am I using sublime right?!  I feel like it’s an adjective thrown around a little willy-nilly….  Anywho, #2 seed Scurry and #3 seed Yappers took on big losses last week, opening the door for a 4-way battle for that coveted 2nd bye week.  Although with the trade deadline last week, we saw some massive moves, mainly from High as Greg Kite solidifying their hold on the 6th playoff spot and going for a deep playoff run.  It’s going to be a great postseason, and I’m excited to see how the seeding will work out!

Here’s how week eighteen in the 2016-17 REL went down, and how we’re looking heading into week nineteen:

Man, big weekends all around!  And only fitting one of the breakout weekends of the NBA would be someone from the Suns!  I was in Phoenix all weekend!  …sadly not to see the Suns, but I don’t think anyone was…  Grey and I were scouting some Spring Training, and us goofballs had a good ol’ desert time…  Speaking of goofballs, check out this jump ball for the Suns/Celtics game on Sunday night!

It’s all fun and games for the Celtics until the Suns actually beat ya!  And who better to drive home the dagger than who faced off in the short-man jump ball!

NBA getting taken over by shorties!  Grey might have a shot to make the NBA at this rate!  20/2/5/1/0 for Tyler Ulis with no TO on 8-12 shooting, following 8/1/8 then 14/4/7 lines the two games prior.  Of course Earl Watson would love this guy and start giving him minutes, the short guy love going all around!  23, 21, then 33 minutes in that big win yesterday.  While he’s certainly worth a look in 12ers, minutes would absolutely have to come at the expense of Eric Bledsoe or Devin Booker, and I don’t see the Suns being able to give Ulis a 30+ MPG role.  So that keeps him behind the Cojo’s of the world, and I’m not really fretting that I didn’t add him anywhere while I was in baseball scouting mode.  Although I will say the NBA definitely has it down with being an indoor sport, my feet got sunburnt to a crisp wearing my flip flops in Phoenix!  Stupid pale skin…  I’m not built for the desert, even in early March!  Here’s what else went down over the weekend in fantasy basketball action:
