Nope, not talking about baseball here. Hopefully most of the us reading this advanced into the 2nd round of the fantasy playoffs. As for me, I got knocked out in the JB vs. Slim Razzball Year 3 League. I was somewhat disappointed, but with no KD and a combination of missed and sub par games from Poison Goose it was inevitable. No excuses, all part of the game. I’m in the midst of trying to advance in JB’s ‘Secret Attack’ RCL League so hopefully I can advance…at the expense of Mr. JB himself.
Planning for the remaining games this week is tricky and I think the margin of error is slimmer – not just in terms of what’s at stake, but due to the scheduling. Friday and Sunday are slated to have 10 games each. Now, if you wait until Saturday before making any moves, your team might not even make use of it due to the number of teams playing on Sunday. So you really have to look at your Friday-Sunday rosters and see if it makes sense to wait before adding for Sunday’s games.
Players on teams playing on Saturday should be a target as there are only 5 games being played.
WAS/MIN/CLE are the only teams that play on Fri. & Sat.
POR/LAC are the only teams that play on Sat. & Sun.
You see what I’m getting at here? You need to be really clever about your moves trying to shore up or catch up on some cats you’d need to advance to the next round.
Let’s get right to it.
Friday
BKN @ WAS: Bojan Bogdanovic & Ian Mahinmi are both targets against BKN. Obviously, it would depend on your team’s needs. WAS also plays CLE the next day so there could be a DNP rest potential for Mahinmi and that means you’d only get him for 1 game.
PHO @ BOS: BOS is a good matchuup against opposing bigs for rebounds and maybe blks. Alex Len is a nice target here especially if Alan Williams is announced to get a DNP.
MIN @ LAL: In need of points? Probably one of the better pick ups for scoring is Shabazz Muhammad on Friday. MIN plays POR the following day.
Saturday
WAS @ CLE: Despite the negative press on DNP-ing lately, I expect CLE to rest some on their 2nd game of a b2b (if they don’t rest any of them the day before). Afterall, this isn’t a nationally televised game. The usual suspects here J.R. Smith and Channing Frye are targets. Specialized, but if you need 3s, they could make or break that cat for you.
MIN @ POR: Already mentioned it above but Bazz is a target for scoring here. Allen Crabbe for 3s could be a pick up here especially with POR facing the LAL the next day.
NYK @ SAS: This is obviously not a great matchup for the NYK but Justin Holiday and Courtney Lee could be targets on a 5 game slate. Some help on the 3s and assists for either of those 2.
Sunday
ATL @ BKN: You name it here, Tim Hardaway Jr., Taurean Prince, Ersan Ilyasova (should ATL be cautious with Paul Millsap and rest him a few more games) and Thabo Sefolosha. Different players depending on the need/s for your team. On the BKN side, if Jeremy Lin is available and playing (BKN has a game on Thurs so you should know if he’s playing way ahead of this Sunday game) he should be picked up as ATL is a great matchup for opposing point guards. If Lin isn’t playing, Spencer Dinwiddie becomes a good stream add if looking for assists.
OKC @ HOU: A potential for a lot of TOs on an uptempo game, Andre Roberson could end up with lofty defensive numbers here.
Well, that’s about it for this week’s edition. My plan is to at most have 1 move going into Sunday but I won’t mind using up all my moves to capture 2 games from Friday-Sunday.
Good luck everyone!
