Look at the majesty of that pun. Not the pun itself, but the pure lack of any effort whatsoever. Much like the Thunder’s shooting! Aye-oh. Anyways, in a game that may or may not have counted for either you, myself and the NBA (pretty sure it did not count, Doc Rivers in shambles), the Bucks defeated the Thunder 97-81 to win the second ever NBA Cup.
Some interesting tidbits around the league now that the Cup has wrapped; Giannis Antetokounmpo continues to hard carry the Bucks back into contention and had a stellar triple-double going 26/19/10 with 3 blocks.
On the flipside, Thunder looked a bit off, shooting a combined 5-for-32 for three and 34% from the field. Granted, they aren’t the strongest three-point shooting team, but I’m a bit concerned with Jalen Williams at this point. There’s some injury concern, yes, but I’ve noticed that he’s cutting less, there’s less off-ball movement, is it because he’s limited? Both him and Shai also finished 8-20 and 8-24 respectively.
In case you missed it, Dennis Schröder was traded to the Warriors. Small fries, only because I love fries, but he will basically get most of the Shake Milton minutes for now. Warriors are basically the Bucks but in reverse, so it’ll be interesting to see how active they are to squeeze that last bit of Curry window left. What I do know is that outside of Curry, the team has a really hard time scoring and it just seems this is who Podz is.
Other interesting trade rumors? Obviously Zach LaVine will be the topic de jour, but the Nuggets being interested garnered my attention a bit. I like the fit, Jordan Poole has also been mentioned, but that seems less likely. To be honest, some of the front office moves by Denver have been questionable, and there’s always a money issue with the new CBA.
