Hey Razzball faithful, I wish you all a happy, healthy fantasy New Year! I have been horribly ill, almost getting my ticket punched to the big hard court in the sky! Maybe that is a trifle dramatic, but I was sick so long I was worried I may have contracted the hiv…(from a toilet seat, of course, nothing more!!!!), but, fortunately, this appears not to be the case. So I’m back y’all, and I’m serving up the New Year eggs and hash for you still hungry for buy/sell nibblies! Don’t worry, I’ll wear a SARS-esque mask, to keep from coughing on your order. I will take this first week to make the old new again, and re-hash the hash. So without further ado, order up!
BUY:
Omri Casspi SF, PF
I know, I’ve mentioned the Hebrew Harbinger before, but he has been on a tear for the final month of 2015, going 14/7/2.3/.7/.1, with 2 treys per game, and I see no signs of stopping any time soon. He is only owned 61% in yahoo, so there is a chance you get him for nothing. I would say Christmas came early and often for Omri, but I think he would ask me to rephrase. If you need a swing, as my wife’s bubbie would say: you coult doo vorse…
Nicolas Batum SG, SF
I love this man, as only one can love a Frenchman: with unpasteurized distain, and cigarettes are involved. Batum is having a career year, and while you won’t be buying particularly low, he has recently had a toe injury, and has sat the past 2 games. This may help you in the deal, as you will be assuming the risk that this becomes a lingering thing, which is a gamble I’d be willing to take.
Kristaps Porzingis PF, C
I mentioned you scoop this 7″3′ in my first article, I believe, and then mentioned him again to you, gentle reader, in case you missed his performance. Well, he has shot an abysmal percentage over the last 12 games. Still, if you can manage to swallow 35 percent from the field, he still is putting 1.7 blocks a game up, as well as solid boards (8), and half a trey per game, and if you are in a keeper, I would strongly consider him for upside’s sake alone.
Wesley Matthews SG, SF
If you are trying to shore up your longballs, Wes is the man to do it for you. He has averaged 3.8 treys over the last 6 games. He won’t get you much more than points and a few boards, but his percentages won’t hurt you either, and a mid-round talent should secure him, I would wager.
SELL:
Kevin Durant SF, PF
KD is injured, and it isn’t a major injury, his toe, but he has had toe issues last year, and he hasn’t been dynamic over the last few when he was playing. Just a blip? Most likely. Don’t get me wrong, you only deal a powerhouse like Durant for another blue chipper, like Anthony Davis, say. KD has cache, he’s earned it, to be sure, but if you feel like mixing it up, no time like the present, no?
Zaza Pachulia C
The other big Z averaged a double double in December. He doesn’t do much else, but that kind of stat can make some deals happen, so go forth and kick some tires!
Jae Crowder SF, PF
I mentioned Jae for the last 3 years at least once per fantasy season. Am I a savant? Probably. I bet you’re saying: Dan, you’re sharp, but don’t get a fat head! To that I say A) too late, my head is already fat, for a variety of reasons, and B) consider this: He went undrafted this year in most leagues. So turning a waiver pick up (or late round flyer at best), into a solid top 35 player, like a Greg Monroe, for example, is just the bees knees, IMO. Or hold him, and enjoy the rewards, and ignore the savant.
I know that isn’t much to go on, but my disease-ravaged body is still weak, I have to rest, Doctor’s orders. I’ll part with the reminder that we can also look forward to the 10 day contract call ups soon, maybe there is a Hassan Whiteside type floundering in the NBADL about to make his bones this season. Until then, may all your shots be nothing but net!
