Regular season time has ended, children. Here’s how the Razzball season seeds have worked out:
PB and G, owned by Eric, is the first seed and has a bye.
JokerSmoker was two games back and also has a bye.
Some great matchups in the first round:
The Oracle vs. Kostas
PhilOssie vs. Beats by Dray.
All of the teams were over .500 and destroyed me. I finished 76-91 and in 8th place. Not bad. Well, yes it was bad as I was 32 games back. I’m thankful to Son who didn’t kick me out of the league and then let me write, then asked me to do the Tuesday recaps, which some of you even maybe read. Hoping to be back next year for sure. Good luck to all of you in your own fantasy playoffs.
Instead of talking about good roster moves, let’s look through a season-long lens. Like a telescope but cheaper. Maybe it’s a telescope shaped like a monocle? Why doesn’t my iPhone 14 do that?
MVP: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Was a fourth round pick and has just balled out with 31.4 PPG, 4.8 boards, and 5.7 assists. This might look like that Dirk Nowitzki MVP year, though the Mavs got bounced in the first round that season. I’m wondering if his “sickness” was just more Thunder nonsense in which case this MVP is revoked.
Best draft position: The 1 and 2 picks were the 1 and 2 seeds. Let’s see what they did:
1st: Nikola Jokic, Dejounte Murray, Pascal Siakam.
2nd: Joel Embiid, Devin Booker, Kawhi Leonard.
Worst draft strategy: Me, taking all wings (Jayson Tatum, Anthony Edwards, Scottie Barnes) in an effort to look smart.
Best value picks after round 10:
Round 12: Derrick White to PhilOssie
Round 11: Jaren Jackson to the Oracle.
These guys at this spot were possible league winners
Final Takeaways:
I’ve always subscribed to the big guys and point guards strategy, load up on those guys and get boards, blocks, assists, and steals, then draft a scorer later. This could have been my team after the draft:
Jalen Brunson: At this point the guards are loaded, then go to all bigs to shore that up.
But it’s been a ton of fun and all the Razzball guys have been pleasant and answered my many questions.
Quick plug: Keep reading Razzball and, if you love baseball too, don’t forget to subscribe to those special tools. It’s the best website I’ve seen for draft prep, and I’m not just saying that in case I get published or something.
Keep pounding, kids.
