Despite the continuing drama in La La Land and the conversions it would bring writing about, I’m going to spend a bit of time on Devin Booker who dropped 48 points, six assists, five rebounds, and three steals in a win against the Spurs last night. Mmm, those sweet sweet unique hits from Phoenix… all 12 of them. I’m kidding, there’s actually a lot of people out there in the tri-state area, just too old to understand anything digital that’s not Facebook, so here we are. And even though Booker tried for 50 (was pulled with the Suns up by 10 and missing his last two shots), the stat line last night was downright dominant when you realize it may all be happening because he pointed at the Raptor. (Suns are 4-0 now since that incident by the way.) During the same span, Booker has been averaging 32.3 PPG and has carried the Suns a few times this past week all by himself, including last night’s win against the aforementioned Spurs. Best player in Arizona currently wearing #1? Don’t tell Razzball Football, but I think so…

Here’s what else I saw during last night’s games:

Jayson Tatum – 38 MIN, 9-18 FG, 0-4 3PT, 9-11 FT, 8 REB, 3 AST, 1 STL, 2 TO, +12, 27 PTS. Mr. Inconsistent, it’s quite the sight to see when he steps up and takes over a game. He just needs to drive, seek out contact and improve his ball handling, but easier said then done when you see some of the ugly shots he still likes to take.

Miles Bridges – 39 MIN, 14-20 FG, 5-9 3PT, 5-5 FT, 12 REB, 5 AST, 1 STL, 1 BLK, 1 TO, +26, 38 PTS. At one point it was looking like Bridges was going to score over 70 points, but still, a definite star in the making here, but we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. And yes, I was going to use that pun no matter what.

Joel Embiid – 29 MIN, 10-20 FG, 3-4 3PT, 9-10 FT, 8 REB, 1 AST, 4 TO, -15, 32 PTS. It was pretty much Embiid vs. Wizards, and when it wasn’t, it was pretty much Embiid vs. the other 12, so the loss wasn’t that surprising, even if it was against a Wizards team whose highest scorer was Harell with just 18.

Kyrie Irving – 38 MIN, 12-23 FG, 3-6 3PT, 0-0 FT, 7 REB, 9 AST, 1 STL, 2 TO, +14, 27 PTS. Say what you want about Irving and, you know, his issues, but the dude looks elegant out there on the court. Definitely offsets the flailing and clunky James Harden

Steven Adams – 23 MIN, 1-3 FG, 0-0 3PT, 0-1 FT, 10 REB, 6 AST, 2 STL, 1 BLK, 1 TO, +8, 2 PTS. Continues to be a great pickup for the Grizzlies. Also, dude lifts. Tony Bradley is listed at 6’10” and 250 lbs and Adams carried him away like he was about to sing him a lullaby.

Nicolas Batum – 36 MIN, 11-16 FG, 7-10 3PT, 3-3 FT, 5 REB, 3 AST, 2 BLK, 1 TO, +18, 32 PTS. BATUM BATTALION ASSEMBLE!

Onyeka Okongwu – 36 MIN, 6-9 FG, 0-0 3PT, 0-0 FT, 8 REB, 3 AST, 1 STL, 3 BLK, 1 TO, +11, 12 PTS. Onyeka Okongwu is a pleasure to say and a pleasure to write. Nothing like spell-check murderer Giannis Anteopatoaiwhga[098hgbah.

Jusuf Nurkic – 36 MIN, 10-21 FG, 0-3 3PT, 1-2 FT, 22 REB, 2 AST, 4 STL, 2 BLK, 6 TO, +23, 21 PTS. So many boards, so many wood puns to use. But instead, let me just comment that the Blazers, I’m sure, are doing their famous back their way into the playoffs bit.

Scottie Barnes – 39 MIN, 6-18 FG, 2-5 3PT, 2-3 FT, 8 REB, 6 AST, 2 TO, -5, 16 PTS. Not sure if it’s alway been a Nick Nurse thing to just let any team take open corner threes, but I just gotta say the entire team, especially Barnes looks gassed.

Luka Doncic – 39 MIN, 4-17 FG, 0-6 3PT, 12-14 FT, 11 REB, 12 AST, 3 STL, 3 BLK, 2 TO, +12, 20 PTS. I’m definitely not calling Luka fragile, I’ve seen this kid take a lot of hits and falls, and that’s just against the Morris brothers, but I imagine the Porzingis factors adds to the anxiety.

LeBron James – 37 MIN, 9-20 FG, 3-8 3PT, 4-8 FT, 7 REB, 7 AST, 1 STL, 1 BLK, 1 TO, +11, 25 PTS. While he ended just two points shy of the first 27-7-7 game of his career, having absolutely no meaning other than have a few sevens in the line, I do want to mention something equally as valuable: that the Lakers are undefeated since James’ apology tweet.
