Well, remember about a month ago when the Paul George news seemed more optimistic than the Knicks season outlook?! OK, maybe that’s not too optimistic, but ya know…
Slim and I both maintained you can leave George on your wire in H2H leagues as a stash, and it took until the final Sunday of the H2H championship to get back on the court. So maybe we were wrong! Hah, I doubt anybody in a H2H final was able to stash him that long… PG13 returned from that horrific injury last summer for 13/2/2/2/0 on 5-12 FG (3-6 3PTM). Did have the 3 TO, but man, even the most die-hard Pacers-hater has to be happy to see George back on the court. Obviously in Roto, he’s a must add for this final week plus. That said, played 15 minutes off the bench and I doubt he gets to 30 in the remaining week in a half. Oh yeah, assballs and a bump of coke! Needed to be sure this was legit rated PG-13 for “some language and drug use”. Here’s what else went down over the weekend in fantasy basketball action:
Derrick Rose – Said he will “likely return this week.” There was “likely” an STD contracted during Jersey Shore and I unlikely care about either.
Paul Millsap – Hurt his shoulder Saturday night, but said he was feeling pretty good. Yeah, with only 19 losses at this point I’d feel pretty good too! Likely will get some precautionary DNPs to the ire of roto owners.
Ricky Ledo – Had his Poppycockers bonkers game! It’s like the movie Eddie, except the team is worse. “Ivan take charge!” 21/9/3 with a couple of treys Friday against the Wizards, but quickly became as irrelevant as Whoopi Goldberg by his next game last night.
O.J. Mayo – Boston got their clam chowdered with extra mayo! Yuck, that sounds disturbing, I’m too scared to Google if that’s anything close to something in Urban Dictionary. 24/5/6/2/1 with 4 treys in 29 minutes, then went a usable 14/2/1/0/1 with 2 treys on 6-10 shooting Saturday.
Thaddues Young – Only got to 29 Pts when both Brook Lopez and Deron Williams got to 30 Friday night against the Craptor defense?! 29/6/0/4/0 with 5-9 FT in a line that is reminiscent of a good Thad game in the Wolves days. But then all the Nets caught the craptor fever and got bludgeoned by the Hawks 131-99 Saturday.
Nikola Vucevic – Can’t stop the Vuc! Career-high 37 Pts Friday night on 18-25 shooting, but shoulda dropped that 40-burger! 1-4 at the FT line… Justin Hamilton, bless his heart, tried his best but can’t D up the Vuc… J-Ham still with a decent fantasy line though (14/9/2/2/1)!
Victor Oladipo – First off, I had no idea his full name was Kehinde Babatunde Victor Oladipo! A name so full that I wish it mimicked his stat line… Burn! I mean, he was fine through the H2H playoffs, but not great at all. I got some flack for calling him a sell-high mid-season, and through the playoffs you got 9 games of 18.9/4.6/5.0/1.6/0.4. That’s good and all, but 2.9 TO, 39.7% from the field and under a trey per game… Gus Ayonin’!
Aaron Gordon – I really like Gordon as a prospect (oh no, I’m in baseball mode!) and flashed some good games over the weekend, mainly 10/12/1/0/2 on 5-6 shooting against the Bucks Saturday night. We’ll have to see how the PT is looking next year, but might be a sleeper.
Russell Westbrook – Westbrook? Not a sleeper… 11th tripdub for 40/11/13 last night. Sheesh, as I mentioned on the Pod, if you bought him during his injury stint early in the year, what a buy!
James Harden – Speaking of things I said on the Pod, while making my SideLeague picks I said Harden+Westbrook might combine for 100 in yesterday’s game. I was pretty effing close! Beard put up 41 giving them a combined 81. Those two are a bunch of schlubs for coming short…
Ty Lawson – Had a late scratch Saturday night with a forearm issue. I’ve got an issue between my forefinger and ring finger, it just keeps staying up by itself!
DeMarcus Cousins – Absolute monster. On Friday night put up his THIRD STRAIGHT Goromotaro and his second straight tripdub. Playing angry – maybe because the Kings are an atrocity… 24/20/13/1/4 against the Pelicans, but it came to a screeching halt against the juggernaut Jazz D for “only” 26/12/4/1/1 and 8 TO. Can’t handle the Rudy Gobert D! He’s so good at D, he made Boogie shoot only 4-9 FT too!
C.J. McCollum – Flash that potential! I feel like that was a quote someone wrote on To Catch a Predator in a chat room… Career best 27 in a 27/6/3/2/0 line, which looks even more stellar with it on 10-16 FG (2-4 3PTM 5-5 FT) and no TO. Your first question should be, “who was it against?” Yup, the Lakers… Then back to his normal-ish stats Saturday…
Nicolas Batum – Spoiler alert! About to win an official Razzball award tomorrow! Will not travel tonight to rest his back, so McCollum might be an interesting stream tonight… Crap, I gave it away!
Jerami Grant – Flash that potential! Hah, couldn’t resist… 10/4/2/2/6 in a rainbow against the Hornets, but man, couldn’t deliver vs. the Poppycockers in a game I thought he’d do well trailing off to a 4/1/1/1/0 line…
Hassan Whiteside – Like I said before, snitches get stitches! So Hassan musta snitched on someone else! Hah, I don’t even know what that could mean… Had his stitched together hand get opened up Saturday night and had to sit out yesterday as a game-time decision… I bet a lot of H2H championship owners are thinking of giving Whiteside some stitches themselves!
Luol Deng – Getting an MRI on his knee, and there’s fears he’ll be out for the year. It sounds like it’s been a lingering issue, so I doubt it’s a torn ACL or anything that will hurt him too much for 15-16. But Roto owners can prepare to move on.
Gerald Green – His game reminds me of Terrell Owens… He’s always open! Got 22 minutes Saturday night and made em count for 10-17 FG (3-5 3PTM) 24/2/1. When asked how he feels about Hornacek not playing him much he said, “that’s my quarterback!”
Shane Larkin – 11 rebounds?! ELEVEN?! 15/11/7 last night, but like that McCollum line above, you gotta be like, “who was that against?!” The Sixers… Who might have a bigger Poppycock than the Poppycockers… Size doesn’t matter, it’s how you LOSE it!
Streamers/Cheap Daily League Picks:
C.J. McCollum (5% owned) – Only one game tonight, on a slate that was due to have no games since the NCAA Championship is tonight. But alas, this is the blizzard rescheduled game! And as mentioned above, no Batum makes McCollum interesting.
Meyer Leonard (1% owned) – The Blazers are resting everyone, with LaMarcus Aldridge and Chris Kaman out as well. So it’s time to hop on the Oscar Meyers Wiener mobile-train! That’s too many forms of transportation…
We’ll have the glamourous 14-15 Razzies award show tomorrow then the RCL Championship post lead on Wednesday, but Daily Notes will return for Thursday and Friday to round out the week. I hope Razzball Nation brought home a ton of brass in the H2H championship, and if you’re still going in Roto or in a week 24 finals, good luck the rest of the season!
